We stopped by here for some lunch after enjoying a nice hike at Redwood Park. The service was friendly and the menu simple. We ordered a grilled veggies sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich, both with salads. The salad was delicious as was the grilled veggie. There was too much mustard on the chicken salad that too over the flavor. I would go back and recommend both items. Just hold the mustard on the chicken salad (does not pair well anyway)

I absolutely LOVE this place. Everything on the menu is Delicious. Small, calm and clean environment. Great place to share conversation and a meal with a stranger. Or sit alone and enjoy a book and some lunch.

Google
Was driving home and saw this place on my way thought I'd stop for dinner as I am always interested in trying new eateries. There was three of us and we ordered four of their main course plates and shared that way we can try more things. The main courses we ordered were Fried Chicken, kielbasa, and 2 burgers. We also ordered the deviled egg Trio and the lentil soup. Overall is very happy the kielbasa was extremely flavorful the chicken was very crispy inside was cooked all the way through and extremely juicy the burgers had a beautiful Char and we ordered medium rare and they were cooked right lots of flavor the only thing that didn't hit the five star mark would be the lentil soup which was good just did not wow me and the deviled egg Trio yes they were good but I just couldn't get my head over paying 5 plus dollars for 1.5 eggs that being said I did enjoy my meal that the food was very simple and very clean and treated correctly I will definitely be returning for more thank you guys

Google
A little bit if wait, but understandable given the space and restaurant week. But foodwise everything is excellent! Even Mom loves it which is rare given how picky she is.

Google
This is the most underrated place in the Laurel and also the Dimond. Everything is delicious, and they've got great desserts. There's even parking! The vibes inside are bright and clean. It's good if you want to eat by yourself but you can bring groups easily. It's also a great place to pick up lunch if you are working from home or grab dinner. They close on the earlier side to plan ahead.

Google
Service was pleasant, food was tasty. Not much for kids but my 8 year old enjoyed the burger without ketchup and minus the pickled onions. Pork sogu is a good choice if you go.

Google
Fantastic little place. Reasonable prices for most of the food, quick, friendly service, and it has been almost empty every time I’ve been.

Ajitha Nair

Google
I love this place! We started coming here because it was our CSA pick up spot. But I find that even when we don't order from the CSA, I enjoy this spot after picking the kids up from school. The staff is friendly, we love the unique flower arrangements on their long table, they have delicious light bites, dessert, and wine available. It feels very much aligned with the name and it is a real treat for us!

Yelp
Was in the mood for something new in my neighborhood, so I just drove down MacArthur. Love "my" new find of Communite Table! Guess it's been here for a while, just new to me. It's a beautiful location, with a lovely menu and staff. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was over the top delicious and their fries are like no other! Ended my visit with the goat cheesecake, delicious. It was a fun spot to treat myself on my day off. Will be back to try more in this gem of a place. :)

Yelp
This place checks all the boxes except one: Tasty food. The service is good: friendly waitstaff who are attentive and prompt. The space is clean and bright with big windows all around. It's a small, local business owned and run by women. I just wish the food were a bit more flavorful. It's okay to have casual, homemade choices, but I find the dishes bland and uninspired.

Yelp
I wish this place was open on the weekends because I am such a huge fan of their berry bread pudding. Don't let the texture fool you because it is seriously one of the best I've ever had, and I've been to New Orleans so I know delicious bread pudding. They make it in house. I probably should be taking more time to write about their food but because I am so obsessed with the bread pudding, I will keep coming back here just for that.

Momo L.

Yelp
We really like many of the goodies here like the beet or carrot salads and the lamb burger (yum). The Hub is particularly fond of their macaroons. This 2-star review is specifically pointed at their chicken pot pie. We recently bought their frozen whole chicken pot pie and baked it in the oven per instructions. We were so looking forward to a classic pot pie full of chicken, peas, carrots, onions etc. in a creamy sauce with a crispy crust. Imagine our surprise and disappointment upon cutting it open to find this chunky greenish glop filling inside instead (see pix). Granted the crust was good and they were not stingy with the chicken pieces but this is NOT a chicken pot pie. Not a classic one anyway. I had to doctor it by making my own béchamel (white sauce) to which I also added a splash of sherry. Folded my sauce with this glop before we could eat it. Oh....and the bread pudding is drier than we like. More crème pâtissière, please.

Yelp
Healthy and delicious lunch and dinner options and a great price point. Home style cooking that leaves you feeling great. Wasn't a huge fan of the fried chicken sandwich, as it was a little too much breading and there are much better ones to be found around Oakland. Love their other options though, and great fries!

Kokoe J.

Yelp
It said there were vegetarian dishes, but salad and mac & cheese minimally qualify. Even the borscht had an overwhelming chicken stock.

Yelp
Stopped by after picking up my monthly supply of Peters Kettle Corn. I'm not sure why I always forget about this place but I will be back again soon becaise let me just say they have one of the best beet salads I have ever had. I always compare the beet salads I have out to the ones that I make at home. Nothing compares to how good the beet salad I make at home turns out. Making a beet salad at home however, is always a pain, it takes all day to roast them and then leaves my hands all stained. Well I guess there is no need now as I can stop in here and get my fix. I would have never thought to add olives to my beet salad but it is for sure a winning combination. Their goat cheesecake was also excellent.

Yelp
My family came for the first time to eat dinner on my wife's birthday. We were the only table in the joint on a gloomy Thursday evening. The staff were considerate and very attentive - especially as we had two kids: an energetic 4yo and a 1yo whom we hadn't taken out to eat before. (I'd forgotten that restaurants have high chairs until we were offered one. It's been a long pandemic.) Like, my older child dropped her spoon, and as the echoes faded away, someone leaned over and asked kindly if we needed a new utensil. And they brought us an extra plate and smaller tableware, and offered to separate a portion of the soup (and cut the matzo ball into quarters!). It was lovely to feel cared for as a family. Food: we ordered from the Hanukkah menu, and were not disappointed. The brisket was tender and the fried chicken crisp, and the mashed potatoes were great with both kinds of gravy. The roasted broccoli was maybe a bit too done. The chicken soup had a deep, smoky stock and tender bits of carrot; latkes were pretty standard (but since when is that a bad thing?). My (currently) picky eater ate from both entrees and asked for seconds (plus soup), and the baby ate her share of applesauce and matzo ball gleefully. The birthday spouse enjoyed the brisket and I shared my generous portion of chicken. Since they were closing (at 7:30 - that's early!), and the littlest was falling asleep in the high chair, we ordered a selection of desserts to go. It was so much less stressful than I'd anticipated. We'll definitely be by again to pick up food to go.

Yelp
First, there is a parking lot. Unheard of. We stopped in for a bite. They had the indoor area reserved for a community event but the patio was lovely. I had the fish and chips which were crazy good. Not oily. Perfect. We got some salads and cookies as well. They had some really tasty and reasonable wines by the glass. Service was friendly. We'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Home style diner with eclectic and healthy oriented and delicious and varied menu. The fries are the best and don't leave without dessert. The cauliflower soup was excellent, great tuna sandwich and beer and wine choices are selective but top notch.

Yelp
Sweet little clean spot in the Laurel District for home made home-style dishes. Everything is high-quality. Their food is a bit bland for me, but a little salt fixes it right up and it's a great option for those who don't enjoy their food over seasoned.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Visited for the first time today and will definitely be back. Love that street parking is easy and they have a lot. Menu isn't too overwhelming and we liked everything we ate-I got the ham & Gruyère sandwich and my husband got the fried chicken sandwich with paprika fries. Fries were SO GOOD. We also really liked the deviled egg trio and chocolate sno cap cookie. One suggestion would be to have the sandwiches come with a side (even just a small side salad or chips). Service was kind and quick. You pay the counter and seat yourself. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and they do check vaccine cards for indoor dining.

Rae L.

Yelp
Good food, great service, cheery and friendly ambiance. Excellent seafood soup and goat cheesecake!!

Lauren K.

Yelp
This place is a good neighborhood go to with a really sweet ambience and an actual parking lot. It's not ever quite as good as I want it to be, but some items are just delicious. Inexplicable why it's not open on weekends.

Yelp
Cute and friendly place. Love that they have a small outside parking lot. We decided to give them a try for the prepared Christmas dinner this year. Unlike some of the other places that were sticking to ham, Communite was offering a lamb shank or lasagna dinner. Selection on line was easy and pickup time and date were accurate, the order was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. The food is very homestyle, the large chunks of lamb were combined with apricot and came with a couscous side, broccolini and tiramisu. I tend to like things seasoned a bit more aggressively. I could definitely see this as a good grab and go option to fill in any home menu blanks.

Yelp
We live very close to this place and usually we decide to pick up a few small things. This time though we decided to dine in at communite table. Staff : they staff is very friendly and super helpful. They let you know what the specials of the day are, what items are running low, and their recommendations. They accept cash all cards and apple pay so don't worry if you forgot your wallet. The service was quick and staff was attentive. Food: the food was shockingly very good. From the front it looks more like a to go place with quick eats but thats far from the case. The burger was FANTASTIC probably one of the best that I've had and paired perfectly with the cajun fries and pickled onions. The beef was fresh the bun was premium and it was perfectly cooked. Same goes for the 2 salads and mac and cheese. You can really tell the ingredients are very fresh and all made upon order. Vibe: they have a great outdoor seating area thats covered with light music and a parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking. They also have an indoor space that is quite nice. Overall this is one of the best local eats in laurel and would highly recommend to anyone!

Yelp
I just had their carrot cake for the first time today. That's was the best carrot cake I've ever had. I mean it was axx kicking good. If you like carrot cake, this is your place. Sorry, the cake didn't make it to the camera.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem in the Laurel. Delicious, nutritious, fresh food and baked goods. I enjoy the sunlit atmosphere but often grab and go between meetings. The owner is delightful and kind. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal. Oh, the lemon chicken is totally out of this world!!!

D I.

Yelp
Tried this gem to do a meal delivery for a sick friend. They loved it and their toddler gobbled up The burger so fast that they called and asked me where I got the meal. The restaurant also provides free meals to the Unhoused so supporting them Supports the community

Yelp
Friendly environment with quality good fresh lunch my favorite is the tuna sandwich but that's me plenty of choices for everyone's palate If your in the neighborhood stop by for a healthy lunch and to support a local Oakland business they've got wine and beer also so bonus Michelle is very personable and knows most of her repeat customers

Dawn S.

Yelp
You know how you feel after eating delicious, healthy, no-frills meal? You are full and satisfied---like the food gave you the nutrients and energy that your body needed. That's what CT offers for a decent price and in a very unpretentious, inviting atmosphere. Love this little spot in Laurel.
google avatar

Yelp
The place is small, but well organized. A long farm table in the middle for large families, children are welcomed. The tables alongside are for two or three. There is a small parking on the side. The menu is limited, but with various foods from appetizers to dessert- there is a wine list. Credit cards accepted. Service was good. Food was brought out quickly- I was a little disappointed with my choice of shrimp risotto- to me it tasted like regular long grain rice with vegetables- the flavor was not of shrimp and the vegetables were tasty, but not belonging to the rice. Good portion. The 8 shrimp in 2 small screeners were excellently cooked. I liked the wooden taste and not over cooked. My companion had the grass fed beef hamburger and sweet potato fries- the serving was plenty. We both shared the white bean Mediterranean soup and this was thick and great! Creamy and with a kick of spice!

Yelp
Excellent lunch spot. Delicious food with off-street outdoor seating. The tartine and the Mac and cheese are crowd pleasers.

Allan L.

Yelp
I had lunch here with a friend on a Monday around 12:30 pm. They had a posted lunch menu, but I was informed that the item I wanted (a veggie frittata) was not available. I settled for a ham and gruyère sandwich. The sandwich was terrible. It consisted of a thin slice of cold ham and a slice of cheese that looked like came from one of the Kraft sliced cheese packets. The cheese was a bit hard around the edges, so it was not fresh. The bread was tasteless and also cold. It was one of the worst sandwiches I've had in a long time. My lunch companion told me that he had been there recently and the food had been good. Maybe Monday is just not a good day to go to Communitē Table.
google avatar

Andi R.

Yelp
Had not been here in a long time but this dinner for four tonight was perfect. Great value, even with a tip, it was less than $20 per person for a home cooked style meal. Veggie lasagna was generously portioned and fresh. Arugula salad was simple but yummy. Garlic bread was flavourful and on a quality loaf. Loved the cookies. Super friendly staff, very warm and inviting. Love the reusable packaging for my to go food!
google avatar

Ramelda J.

Yelp
Food was freshly served. Staff were very friendly. I had the vegetable risotto and spring salad.

Yelp
There aren't many good eating options in the Laurel District of Oakland, but this is definitely one of them. I very much like and recommend this place. Having lunch here was so relaxing and nice. The place is super clean and looks new and contemporary. The display case of options, many for take-out, is mouthwatering in itself. Everything is displayed so well, and looks incredibly freshly prepared. There's a variety of seating and table service available. I saw a Jambalaya in the display case and although not on the lunch menu I inquired if it's available. Yes, it was! So I ordered it and it came as an ample portion in a bowl with a big square of cornbread with it. YES! Having lived in New Orleans and periodically visit I am very particular about Jambalaya. Like with gumbo there are hundreds or variations, and this one was superb. The rice was perfectly cooked and all the ingredients nicely melded together. Big, beefy slices of sausage, I suspect andouille, made it a taste treat, and right before Mardi Gras too! I did add a hefty amount of hot sauce, as I would with many southern dishes. The cornbread was delicious, moist and baked well. The only thing I would have preferred is if it had been warmed a bit to spread the butter. My dining companion had an open face tuna sandwich and it looked delectable. It appeared to be a far healthier choice than mine, but hey before Lent you got to splurge! OK, truth be known I don't observe Lent, perhaps only symbolically so. I will definitely return and I hope they keep up the good quality and care. It shows.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood joint for a home cooked meal. Great for lunch, but especially so for dinner. Communite Table becomes a gathering place for friends and families to share a meal and time together. During the last visit my corn fritters were raw inside. The rest of the meal was fine.
google avatar

Ladi H.

Yelp
Lovely neighborhood spot. Seems to be aimed for the new folks moving into the area. More upscale in looks yet friendly and approachable. Love the name. They serve fresh soups, salads and sandwiches during the day. Nice portions and easy to share.
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
This place is great, but it can be sloooowww depending I think on how many people are there. But great atmosphere and well prepared selections that you don't really see elsewhere.
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
I love this place,it is one of the best spots to eat in Oakland. The menu is different every day, and that is what I love about it.
google avatar

Gail J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this cafe, but the food was just ok. I loved the idea of them donating to the community, but let's be clear. They tack on an additional charge beyond what the menu stated was the cost of the meal.
google avatar

Cat L.

Yelp
Looks like they have added some yummy vegan options to the menu! Time for a return visit.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Taste: 4 Value: 3 3.5 stars. Came for the restaurant week deal. The starter we got, the onion tart, gets a solid 5. Great flavor, crunchy, still moist. The pot roast was pretty good but didn't stand out from one I had had in the past. My friend had the shrimp risotto which was overcooked. Both dessert options were good - chocolatey cake and the lemon bar. Probably too much flaky crust on the lemon bar though. All things considered, the non-restaurant week items being served, namely the fried chicken, looked better than what we had.
google avatar

Lorena S.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat that had either inside or patio seating during lunch, and happened upon this place. It was a wonderful happenstance, as the food was delicious, and service was wonderful. I had the roasted veggie sandwich with hummus, which was flavorful and the paprika fries with it were fantastic! My daughters had the mac n' cheese, which they loved, and we all enjoyed dessert- the snowcap cookie and the bread pudding, which was exceptional. Our servers were polite and efficient, and we felt incredibly lucky to have found this little gem. If you're looking for a great place to have delicious food, this is the one!

Yelp
This is my second time at Communite Table and, really, my co-workers and I should be taking advantage much more often. For lunch, I had the day's homemade and perfectly seasoned black bean and butternut squash soup. It was right amount, served in a large heated mug, so it stayed warm for quite a while even though we sat outside on the patio, in January. Such attention to detail, and such gracious service! Very reasonably priced and a homey feel. If I lived around there, I would definitely visit for dinner service as well.

Yelp
First time. I walk into a nearly empty restaurant on Friday evening. Kinda curious as to why its so quiet... FOOD Uniquely delicious! We started with deep fried sweet potatoes & I couldn't wrap my tastebuds around that sweet/savory mix. I had the veggie tagine full of rich middle eastern flavors & perfect presentation (see pic). For dessert: goat cheese cake. Ta daaaaahh! Light sweetness, a bit tangy, & a thick graham cracker crust. AMBIANCE quiet like a library. Very chill spot with minimal decor. SERVICE decent. Waitress was hilarious and friendly but forgot items and did not know the menu. Meal came out on the slow end. They were kind enough to not pressure us when they closed at 8pm (now who does that on Friday?). Overall the food was wonderful, which made up for the other hiccups in service. I'd definitely return for more. I would highly recommend for out-of-town guests, business meeting, date night, and girls/guys night out.

Yelp
What a nice surprise. Found this place on Yelp, on our way to the airport, for a quick bite. Read Deli, so dis not expect anything more than a cold cut sandwich, but we were so surprised. We did arrive late for lunch and early for dinner, so some items were not available, but what we did have was simply delicious, well made and fresh. The service was impeccable. The place was so cute and clean. The only place we saw on that street that offered free parking lot, although we only found out after paying to park up the street. But we will come back for sure and take advantage of that extra perk!!!! The bread pudding!!! Have it!!!! Delicious coffee from a roaster in Berkeley. Delicious bread from a local baker. Cannot wait to go back for the Shrimp and Risotto!!!
google avatar

Yelp
You may not see it at first if you're walking or driving by but it's a cute restaurant with fresh and clean vibes. I got sides of the beet salad, tuna, And deviled eggs and all were quite delicious. I was looking for something quick to take with my on my lunch break and it hit the spot. Quality ingredients and tasty food. It accommodates larger groups and small gatherings with outdoor space. They have dine in and catering options as well. There's street parking but they also have a small private lot (don't miss it). Fresh, easy, affordable.
google avatar

Maeve M.

Yelp
I imagine this would be a good place in a non-covid era, it seems really like it would be lively and the staff was great. I was a bit disappointed that the tofu and noodle dish was a little lackluster. I was expecting to have noodles that would also have some Asian influence instead of spaghetti noodles. I was also bummed to see when I got home that the cornbread I picked up was moldy. That was super disappointing. I'm hoping it's an off day, because this place looked really cute.

M L.

Yelp
This is a gem. Outstanding neighborhood comfort and atmosphere with a diverse clientele. Yummy selection of eclectic eat in and take out food. Outdoor and indoor dining, parking lot. Owner Michelle makes you feel right at home. Desserts, wines, soups (you can take out frozen soup for a real treat) are wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
Hell yeah, a new favorite in the neighborhood! Wanted to try for ages, but they still have somewhat weird opening hours (i.e. not open after 7pm), but as I have learned today, this might change in the future. Anywho... I arrived around noon and the lunch crowd was not tooo big. Sat at the communal table, just because... ordered the minted carrot soup and half a sandwich and was a happy camper. For dessert: bread pudding! Super crunchy on top, not too sweet. VERY good! Service was nice and personable, water kept coming and the atmosphere is really relaxing. When you come into the place, you can see most of the to-go dishes on display, everything looks very appetizing. I saw a couple of salads coming out of the kitchen and being served at the next table. Next time I will definitely try one of these. The other table also had mac 'n cheese that looked amazing! I am looking forward to many lunch hours here. It is a nice walk from my home and exactly what I needed! Btw: Price for two soup/sandwich lunches with a shared bread pudding: $25 before tip.

Yelp
I love, love, love this place. They have saved me during the pandemic. It's an excellent place to puck up great food. It's a limited menu, but everything on the menu is excellent. Fresh, local, made with love. The chicken pot pie is like a hug from your mother.

Meredith F.

Yelp
I have been coming to Michelle Leprohn's lovely little restaurant ever since it opened. Before opening her own place, she worked in some excellent east bay French restaurants. And the care she takes with her recipes reflects that. From fried chicken, to fish, burgers, salads, soups, and the best brisket ever, you will find an entree to feast on. Desserts are all made in house and are scrumptious. Her wine and beer selection is also great. I so enjoy the friendly, small town feel where I am known by name and often run into neighbors. Please support this sweet neighborhood jewel!
google avatar

Anne B.

Yelp
This is a beautiful addition to the Laurel neighborhood: the owner grew up here, and this her super contribution to giving back. Everything about the restaurant is wonderful! The design is bright, clean and inviting. The food is great not only for adults, but also kids. Thank you, thank you for shining a light of caring, and doing it so wonderfully for the Laurel! We're lucky to have you here.
google avatar

Chia A.

Yelp
Modern on the outside and feels like home on the inside. Very nice staff and even better food! I ordered fried chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes on the side and for dessert I tried the goat milk cheesecake which was magnificent. The chicken has flavor throughout every piece of meat and was so good I had to wake my fried chicken connoisseur of a brother up to try it and he loved it!
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
.Wish they would update their hours. it's annoying to drive all the way here only to find them closed.
google avatar

Maxwell A.

Yelp
Had the baby by myself today so I needed to stop somewhere to feed both her and myself. The food was fresh and seem healthy conscious, the special was jambalaya, everything was delicious. What made me love this place wasn't the food, it was the staff. Michelle in particular went above and beyond to make my experience as easy and fast as possible. She realized I had a sleeping baby and went out of her way to bag up my food and bring it to my car. She was beyond sweet!! She probably owns the place l, but if she doesn't and the owner is reading this, please give that beautiful woman a raise. She rocks!

Yelp
Food never disappoints me. There are not a lot of options on the menu but everything is homemade and fresh. There are always vegetarian options. I enjoy this place also because it is a very quiet restaurant. They do not have an extended wine list but The wine I had was good and reasonably priced. I recommend this place!
