All-Purpose Pizza Adds a Shaw Sandwich Shop — And More Openings | Eater DC

"I visited the new Compass Coffee cafe that took over the Wydown space and found a marbled espresso bar, garage door windows, and local D.C. photography on the walls." - Tierney Plumb

Anna was very friendly and kind . She delivered excellent customer service Decided to try to mint tea. Was definitely needed on a chilly morning before work. Will definitely be stopping by agin. The atmosphere is very cute and cozy by the way .

I stopped into Compass on 3 consecutive mornings this week and had a delightful experience each morning. The two individuals working the counter did a fantastic job problem solving my order when one of the ingredients was unavailable and made well thought out recommendations for substitutions on day 1. On days 2 and 3, the individual working the cash register followed up on my order from the day before to see how I had liked it and then adjusted the order based on feedback. I was truly shocked to be remembered on only day 2 and the woman at the cash register 11/6 and 11/6 around 8 AM is amazing. You don’t get that service at national chains.

Compass Coffee offered free coffee (and later free coffee and a pastry) to furloughed workers, which I think is very kind and generous. The staff were always very nice. There are tables, good WiFi, and it was quiet enough to work for a little while. The coffee is very good. The pastries are ok.

Compass once was a great cup of coffee. I now find it too strong even for the mild blends. I love the Cardinal blend and use it at home. But the cups I get in store not so much.

Good, slightly overpriced coffee. Service not very friendly by American standards though. Some reviews say they are union busters like it's a bad thing. I don't care how woke you are. I come for coffee not to signal my virtue.

The service was great and the drinks came out fast. However, the company recently switched from using a local Virginia milk to mass produced milk. Part of the reason I justified the high price was for the good quality milk.

The baristas and staff at this location are top tier. They have given me extra shots of espresso and always put a smile on my face every time I visit. I also think their coffee & matcha (so green) is some of the best on 14th, which is fairly sparse as coffee shops continue to close in the area! Major plus: alternative milks are free (:

The manager, Malcolm was amazing. He was so kind and energetic. I genuinely thought he was the owner because he hyped up this place so much before we could even come in (Which we were planning to do anyway) He was outside, taking selfies and handing out espresso shots Free samples. Everything in the store was so clean and the menu was so nicely put together and while it was hard to make a choice on what to get because everything looked amazing I don’t regret What I got at all it was amazing. It was a turmeric tea sort of drink, and my friend got something inspired by the cherry blossoms. Compass Café is doing something not many other cafés are doing Which is being original they don’t just serve coffee with milk. They have so many unique flavors and combinations to try! The only thing I didn’t like was that there wasn’t a compass café in Richmond, Virginia, so that I could go every day but maybe my wallet will thank me for that hahah!
