Google
Super accessible location, very clean inside, and beautifully designed. We loved the cold brew, iced tea, and pastry options. This is definitely going to be my favorite coffee spot around here! Highly recommend!!!

Google
I’ve been coming here for the past two years and it’s def my favorite coffee spot. The coffee is always good: smooth, rich, and consistent. Also the place is super clean which is very important to me. Prices are fair, for what you’re getting. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Google
An absolute treasure! I frequent this coffee shop EVERY single day and have been for the last 2 years. As an LA native, it’s easily one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles and I have tried a plethora of them. Not only is their coffee ethically sourced and delicious, the staff and owner are extremely kind. Shout out to Tania and Mason! If you want good coffee, you have to try compelling!

Google
I read about compelling on Drift Magazine, I've seen their beens in other coffee shops, so when I visited this coffee shop tucked away in the heart of Hollywood, I was a little surprised to find out how little it is. There are only standing room inside the shop and two small tables outside. The decor is modern and lively though. My visit wasn't very impressive, the coffee and the service were both fine, but I've had better.

Google
I’m new to the area, a block away. I was a potential regular. I asked for a double latte with oat milk. It ended up being incredibly bitter. Other places, same drink, that is not the case. I asked for another drink, just using whole milk. He said he would make me another one, but charge me full price. Completely absurd. First time that has also happened. Ever. I don’t go around asking for free drinks. The barista was also incredibly rude and standoffish the entire time before this interchange. I told him I will never go back and he said sounds good. Potential regular customer, gone. I won’t miss it. Total garbage, just like the homeless people hanging across the street. Befitting.

Google
The coffee is amazing. However my only complaint would have to be with their food. I love their breakfast egg white but they need to be more attentive with their ingredients selections. It’s also just common courtesy.

Kevin Ang

Google
A perfect breakfast spot with freshly baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. Beans are roasted in-house and there are a variety of options available. Dining in is Al fresco style on the outside of the cafe.

Google
When I say I come here everyday, I mean it lol. My favorite coffee shop. The food and drinks are phenomenal, I usually get an avocado toast or a parfait/overnight oats. The ginger latte is also mad delicious and worth the try. Best chocolate croissants I’ve ever had and everything is local. Staff is always super chill and extremely helpful and kind. I recommend this spot to anyone looking for a lowkey local coffee shop. Small spot, big flavors 🤘 Not to mention it’s ethically run.

Yelp
I got the breakfast sandwich and a latte. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in Hollywood. The latte was great. Too good, in fact. I drank it so fast that my body started shaking. That's due to my low impulse control, though, not their fault. Will definitely be back again soon.

Yelp
Saw that they have pistachio milk, had to visit! It was about $13 for two 16-oz lattes with syrup (+ $1) & milk substitution (+ $.50). Most cafes charge like $1 for milk subs so this was very reasonable. It's definitely the most affordable coffee place we tried in WeHo so far. My latte with pistachio milk was pretty good! Hope they expand the menu, would love to try different flavors. My boyfriend's latte with dairy milk was underwhelming. We barely tasted the espresso. Will give it another try & ask for less milk next time haha. Small store with indoor & outdoor seating available. Street parking only.

Yelp
Not sure if the name came from what I'm about to say, but this cute spot has a compellingly good iced coffee. Sometimes you find a good cold ice coffee and after a few sips it hits you "Wow, this is fantastically good coffee!" I had one of those moments today after ordering. From what I saw it's street parking only. However, I was able to park on the street for free before 11am on Sunday! Score!

Yelp
SO GOOD, seems like they use vanilla bean and not just crappy vanilla. I loved the cookie.

Yelp
Small local place, we are here from out of town and I love trying new and local places and this one happened to be close to our hotel. They have lots of plants on the inside (I love plants so that is a bonus). A few stools to sit and they have a few pastries and juices and they also sell their bagged coffee. Only one size of coffee though, I like a big coffee so I was a bit disappointed about that. Service was quick and friendly. Only three choices for flavored syrup but they did have pumpkin for all those pumpkin lovers. We would definitely come back.

Yelp
Plain and simple they have great coffee. I woke up my first day in LA and needed my fix and they did not disappoint.

Yelp
I'm compelled to tell others about this coffee shop. Truly tiny yet mighty. A few blocks off the busy drag of Hollywood Blvd is Compelling Coffee. While it is simply a pick up window and a one seat coffeeshop, they focus on their pride and joy: Coffee. They honestly make a mean latte, cappuccino, and drip coffee. The Good Food Award medals only go to prove my point. I appreciate the fact that their coffee is ethically sourced and roasted locally in LA. I also love the option of oat and pistachio milk as an alternative milk offering (+.75 cents). While I have already been here twice, I foresee myself returning in the near future. The friendly staff, delicious lattes and chocolate banana bread (which also happens to be gluten free) are all stellar.

Yelp
The coffee was very tasty . Felt good and comfortable when I walked in . I love that the cashiers are so nice . It makes a big difference. Even though I got black coffee . I will be back
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
A cute little spot. Small menu. No Avocado toast:( that's actually why we came in. Limited milk - only whole milk. Small amount of seating outside, no inside seating inside. I ordered a ice coffee and it was good.
google avatar

Aiuna G.

Yelp
This Coffee shop doesn't have any sense except blaming their customers in impoliteness. I was nice and gave tips hoping my drinks will be good. When you don't have any standards. It's not customers problem. Do better and you will not have any complaints. Your matcha is not even light green. It's just a pure urine. Bye bye
google avatar

Elisa S.

Yelp
Good overall coffee! Super convenient for the folks that live in the neighborhood! I was basic and ordered the vanilla latte with almond milk. It was good and much needed for my commute to work.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Came here three days in a row because it was walkable from my hotel in WeHo - and because the coffee and food is awesome. I tried: + cold brew + breakfast sandwich + ham and cheese croissant + turkey sandwich (the best food offering, definitely get this) + yogurt with jam and granola Super friendly baristas, too!
google avatar

Kislev A.

Yelp
Good LATTE and good Hot Chocolate. No indoor seating but the sidewalk chairs and tables were great for people watching. Metered parking on the street is available.
google avatar

Jade N.

Yelp
Small cute coffee shop with great and quick customer service. They make their own house made syrups which I'm a big fan of! Coffee is amazing, I even bought some of their beans to take home!
google avatar

Sofya P.

Yelp
Small coffee shop. Very friendly service! Avocado toast was tasty! Didn't like the matcha latte at all, too milky, couldn't taste the matcha. Cute little spot though.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! Amazing workers! The coffee is really good and I love the vibe. It's nice having a walk up window when you have your dog with you too. The girls who work there are so sweet and it just feels like your good ol' neighborhood coffee shop.

Yelp
Solid spot for coffee. I usually judge coffee by their dripp or cold brew. I ordered a cold brew and my boyfriend ordered a cappuccino. The coffee was strong and had some fruity notes. Slightly tangy but not overwhelmingly so. We came here specifically to grab a small bite before catching a movie. The food options are limited but tasty. I ordered the ricotta and fruit toast while my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich. The food was simple but good. My toast had ricotta and a fruit jam topped with pistachios. The only "down side", which is not really a down side, is the size of the establishment. It is meant to be more of a grab and go. There are some tables outside but it just keep this in mind if you have larger groups.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood coffee shop, prices are more than reasonable, staff is super friendly, perfect place for a quick cup on the go or to sit out front for a quick chat. 10/10 coffee shop.
google avatar

Josh P.

Yelp
I am sure their espresso is great and the barista was very pleasant but my goodness is their drip coffee bad. It was extremely sour and oily. My guess is they don't clean the coffee urn regularly or thoroughly enough.
google avatar

Adam F.

Yelp
I have enjoyed Compelling's coffee since before they opened their brick and mortar cafes and sold beans online, but I was finally able to visit the Hollywood store on a trip from my home in San Francisco. Great service, pleasant ambiance, and a great location.
google avatar

Yelp
I do believe with my humble sagacious view, that this is one of the most coffee degrading shops in hollywood. What I have come through my experiencing with traveling that tourist areas, contains the lowest grade shops/services. With more details In support of what I just wrote, coffee was never on the correct extraction, many times its under or over extraction; "bitter or sour" flavor, which the least a coffee drinker would expect compared to the price the charge. I can tell a service of a shop in one try, I gave them more than once for the sake of struggling business, they proved to fail each time. I do know what I wrote will be helpful for compelling coffee to thrive and make things better for the future. Note "please smile"

Yelp
Quality coffee! Never disappoints coming in for grab n go food items. Staff is friendly, place is spotless it's small inside but there's a couple small tables outside. Ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk.
google avatar

Yelp
Had the club sandwich and it was awesome . Turkey bacon and avocado Little on the small side about the size of a bagel but it hit the spot. Ice coffee was ok. Forgot to take a picture before I finished it.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy iced lattes with a great blend of coffee and sweet flavors. And fast, friendly service.

Yelp
Cute neighborhood coffee shop, right off of Hollywood Blvd. THE FOOD The avocado toast was good! Nice, thick slice of sourdough with a good amount of avocado, and a romesco sauce (I think...). I didn't know the toast came with any sauce, so I didn't ask what it was. On the menu, there were two options that I couldn't have, so I just asked for "plain avocado toast." I saw it came with a sauce when I got back to my place. So, if I'm right about it being romesco, this option is vegan. Also, it was just $6! Kind of unheard of for avocado toast. THE COFFEE I ordered a hot vanilla latte with oat milk. I think the oat milk was an additional $0.50, but I didn't keep my receipt. It was a good latte. There were hints of sweet vanilla notes, but you could still taste the coffee -- which I like. Their coffee beans are also ethically sourced. THE VERDICT They have a small, but quality menu. They had two small tables right outside for seating. The prices are also reasonable for Hollywood. The staff (who I think was the owner?) was friendly. He seems to be invested in the community. I like this place, it's cute and quiet. I'll be back.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp after looking for a coffee shop in Hollywood. It's such a cute and small place but the toast is A1. Simple yet so delicious. I got the avocado toast with presccutio. So delicious. The coffee was ok but what really won me over was the toast. It's in a neighborhood with a lot of apartments around so it's quiet and cute. Hopefully I can come back one day.

Dasha E.

Yelp
Was so happy when they opened, but unfortunately wouldn't go here anymore. Staff is super unfriendly. I was yelled at right after I've opened a door. I was trying to walk in with service animal. Awful experience.
google avatar

Michiko M.

Yelp
Based on Uber eats order. Order was super quick to be delivered. Coffee was good but a bit pricey for the size. I was about the same as the oats. Oats were good. The avocado toast was okay. Bread was tough. Wasn't personally fond of the spread.
google avatar

Debbie P.

Yelp
I keep coming back here hoping to get the same quality as the first time, but each time seems to disappoint. The first time I came here, the avocado prosciutto toast had plenty of avocado beautifully spread across a chewy sourdough. The sauce they use is delicious, and I applaud them for that. However, every time I've come back, I've gotten what's probably 1/4 of an avocado that's spread so thin I can barely taste it. The toast has empty spots where there is no avocado, and it seems like they're trying to use the prosciutto to cover up that they're skimping on the avocado. Moving onto the coffee, the espresso was underextracted and had an overly sour taste. It might have been unnoticeable if the drink was a sweetened latte/cappuccino, but with just milk, it was definitely noticeable. Customer service can also use some help. The staff doesn't seem super friendly. I don't believe employees need to always have smiles and be overly enthusiastic. But the combination of underwhelming food, drink, and service gives me little reason to return.

Yelp
Fantastic cold brew! Really enjoyed the pistachio milk which I hadn't seen before. Cool little place with outdoor seating, too. Can't wait to come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Coffee was extremely "compelling". Located in a residential neighborhood. Very friendly staff! Try the breakfast sandwiches!
google avatar

Yelp
I just stumbled across this place and let me tell you,, if you're a fan of avocado toast .. this place right here, they have , HANDS DOWN, the best avocado toast !!! they're chai & coffee is delicious , but their avocado toast is why I've gone back twice in a week ! lol AAAAAND is doesn't break the bank, that's unheard of in LA !! the bread is perfectly grilled/toasted so it doesn't fall apart, but still yummy & soft, the avocado is perfectly ripe & the creamy vegan romesco sauce , it's bomb ! lol and the prosciutto on top is the chefs kiss ! perfect combo of flavors ! all I have to say is Thank you Compelling Coffee !

Yelp
Super friendly, delic and low key spot right down the street. I love how chill this place is.. feels like a community staple.
google avatar

Antoinette B.

Yelp
Absolute disappointment. The food looks nothing like the photos they are promoting..as you can see from the "French ham" photo I shared. There is literally nothing on this sandwich? it's all dry ham on dry bread? embarrassing. Also the coffee just tastes really watered down, no flavor whatsoever... Sad cause we were excited about a new coffee place on the block, but won't be coming back..save you $ there's better spots around.

Yelp
This place is a gem in the neighborhood! I work right across from them and I feel so lucky to have them for my morning coffee. Coffee - Iced latte was strong and delicious but the hot vanilla latte was not strong enough in my opinion :( maybe I should add an extra shot Avocado toast - I tried the "plain" avocado toast with the romesco sauce and it really was one of the best avocado toast I ever had. It was light, fresh and simply delicious. Also, the owner Kian is super friendly!

Eric L.

Yelp
Good coffee definitely a little pricey but worth your buck. I would say they need to be a little more friendly but overall very pleasing.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Calling coffee compelling is like calling tea gross. Gross Tea. That's a store I'm opening up. Let's put herbs and grass clippings in hot water to burn your tongue and call it a drink. Tea. Ugh. They put so much honey in it because it tastes horrible on its own. Horrible Honey Tea. That's my new store. Also Pooh is our mascot.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Chai latte was way way too sweet. Breakfast sandwich was OK. They had a little counter and chairs inside, so I sat down with my breakfast sandwich and they said no inside seating. There's a table or two outside, but it's not a great area. I didn't even feel comfortable parking my car on that street bc of the area. Honestly, I don't go to Hollywood often, so maybe that's just par for the course there.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
Compelling Coffee is located near my partner's apartment in West Hollywood. While we have several spots to choose from-- this is a top choice on our list. We buy coffee from their website, too. Big fans here, thank you Compelling!!!
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Great, cute coffee shop. Only down side is I wanted oat milk in my coffee. I'm lactose intolerant, and they did regular milk. The coffee was still great!
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
A little hidden gem just off Hollywood Blvd. The cafe is located on the first floor of the Line Lofts building on the northern part of La Palma. Their cold brew is only $4, the cheapest I've seen yet for LA. The coffee was also really good! Great price, excellent coffee, and a nice walk if you live in the neighborhood.
google avatar

C H.

Yelp
Came here originally because I was on foot and they were right across the street from my hotel. Three days in a row because the first day was great, the next two did not disappoint. The only this that could be better they unfortunately do not have the option to increase sating outside. Will visit again when I am in town.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
Crazy high attention to quality, great coffee, cool atmosphere and space design. Honestly the best cafe in LA.
google avatar

Tro D.

Yelp
I was walking by and noticed a new coffee shop. I had to go inside and check it out. I had an iced latte and a cold brew. Both were great. You could tell the place was only into high quality coffee, which I later found out they roast themselves. Excellent place. Will make it a part of my new routine.
google avatar

Lusine H.

Yelp
My favorite place in the neighborhood, the best coffee and sandwiches, the avocado toast is a must try!
google avatar

A. G.

Yelp
Saw this place pop up on yelp under "hot and new" so I decided to check it out since it was on my morning route to work... come to find out it's day 2 for them! Cool. I ordered what I always order: an americano black and it was pretty great, great flavor notes. My friend ordered a coffee and put almond milk and he loved it too. Both coffees were piping hot and delicious... Cool space in a nice location, the owner-operator was young and friendly and also seemed enthusiastic about serving a good product which I really appreciated. Will definitely come back to try other coffees and other things - I'm a big tea drinker too and they had a nice assortment of teas as well.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Ordered the PSL drink with pistachio milk which was okay. Would have liked to have tasted the espresso more than I did. Also ordered the avocado toast, which was toasted to the point where it was hard to eat the bread. The barista was extremely efficient as he was the only person working on our order between 3 customers.

Eddie J.

Yelp
Me and my family were visiting the Los Angeles area and were in the mood for avocado toast. I jumped on Yelp and compelling coffee popped up a little down on the list, so we gave it a shot. We ordered the avocado toast to go, once me my wife and daughter took the first bite we all said it was the best AVOCADO TOAST WE EVER HAD, before we can finish I went back inside to order another round for my family. Yes the TOAST was that GOOD !!!!! that I went back inside to order more, the service was great and I'm glad I found this little gem. I highly recommend Compelling Coffee if your in the area , I definitely will be coming back when I'm in Hollywood.
google avatar

Lilith G.

Yelp
Ordered some drinks while we waited for our friend to bring the car around; ordered matcha drink and tea. Matcha was very tasty and creamy. The tea was extremely bitter, but my friend said it was palatable.
google avatar

Krystal H.

Yelp
7/10 for this chai. it smells very delicious good. very light in color which i was worried about but upon tasting it, i was pleasantly surprised. it's a subtle sweet with lots of flavor. the only thing missing is the classic spiciness, but it is very delicious and creamy! the brand of oat milk used for this was also amazing (minor figures)
