The 9 Hottest Burgers in Los Angeles Right Now

"Hidden inside an art gallery, Union is one of Long Beach’s buzziest new restaurants. Chef Eugene Santiago heads up the kitchen and prepares a menu of mostly Filipino-inspired dishes. The burger leans quite classic, with a brioche bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles, caramelized onions, American cheese, and secret sauce." - Rebecca Roland

Compound hosted the most amazing private event for us in the Courtyard! It was the perfect welcome for 55 family and friends who had traveled to Long Beach from all over the country for our artist son's wedding the following day. It was honestly perfect from the ambiance/vibe to the beauty and artfulness of the space to the yummy food and friendly bar. We were (and remain) absolutely thrilled with how it all turned out. Julie, the Compound Event Sales Manager was a dream to work with - so thorough and easy going. We were planning the event from across the country so her suggestion of a virtual tour was super helpful and, beyond that, actually thoughtful. We cannot say enough glowing things about the whole experience. (Photos are all prior to guests arriving but give a good idea of the space/set up. It was beautiful!)

A one-of-a-kind hidden gem for art, fun and meeting friends! The restaurant Union has the best cocktails and I can’t get enough of the shrimp toast. Always on my Long Beach list!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We hosted our PIHRA Long Beach Summer Networking Mixer at Compound, and WOW — what an unforgettable experience! From the moment you walk in, the space just wows you — it’s equal parts gallery, wellness retreat, and creative playground. The atmosphere was electric yet calming — exactly what we needed to bring our HR community together in a meaningful way. The team at Compound was amazing to work with — friendly, professional, and truly invested in making sure everything went smoothly. They thought of every detail and made us feel like we were in great hands from start to finish. Our guests absolutely loved the unique vibe — mingling among the art, enjoying delicious bites and drinks, and topping it all off with an incredible Sound Bath session that left everyone feeling relaxed, inspired, and smiling. If you’re looking for a venue that’s not just a place to host an event, but an experience your guests will talk about for weeks, I can’t recommend Compound enough. Thank you to the entire team for helping us create such a special and fun night for our HR community! — Mark Halushka Board Chair | PIHRA Long Beach

I recently hosted a surprise birthday party for my wife at this beautiful venue, and it was absolutely perfect! The art gallery setting wowed all of our guests. The kid-friendly craft station was a thoughtful touch that kept the little ones happily engaged. A special thank you to Julie, our Sales Manager, who made the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend hosting an event here if you love art and supporting the community.

What I love about Compound is that it feels like you are in 3 different places all at once! My favorite spot is the courtyard to sit with friends and brunch on a lovely afternoon. I especially appreciate that the staff is not trying to shoo you off for the next guest - it is a relaxed vibe that is very inclusive and warm. The food is also quite delicious and can suit many tastes. The program offerings are supportive for those needing emotional wellness grounding and to unwind especially during these challenging and turbulent times. Please take the time to check out Compound!

We hosted a private event for about 65 guests last weekend and everyone loved the venue, drinks and food! The entire planning experience with Julie and her team was amazingly smooth and professional. They worked with our budget, food restrictions, and vision for the night. They followed up with me a few days prior to discuss final details for the event to make sure everything was set up according to our needs and I’ve never experienced such a stress-free event planning before. The host and entire staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the night. The art gallery display itself is small but they have a lovely, spacious indoor/outdoor area with the option of 2 separate bars and customized cocktail menu where people can freely mingle and walk around. Loved their Beef Bourguignon and mushroom and bok choy dishes. High quality craft cocktails and mocktails. Definitely recommend hosting your next event here!

Wow - what a space. I toured Compound before a dinner at Union and wish I had a reason to host an event here, it is incredible. Compound feels spacious and airy while also being cozy and inviting... the designers did a fantastic job in the layout and art piece placements. One of the current exhibits called Puerperal showcases postpartum aesthetic which I found very unique and thought-provoking. The entire art sanctuary is dedicated to art, community and wellness. Whether you're more into art or want to explore wellness, you should definitely explore what Compound has to offer. A few days after my visit, I was telling a friend about the incredible space and he told me that he'd actually hosted a private company event there! The food was provided by Union and he said the entire experience was top notch. The icing on the cake: private event revenue goes back toward their nonprofit programming. Their 2025 programming includes food equity and art programs that educate and inspire local children, youth, and families. Many of their exhibitions and activities are free including art workshops for all, community markets, breathing and sound bath workshops, wellness workshops, artist talks, and others listed on their website. Overall an incredible space, vibe and mission. We need more of these in the world.

I’m not usually someone who goes out of my way to visit art museums, but I really enjoyed Compound Long Beach. The space itself is beautiful — there’s a mix of indoor galleries and an outdoor garden area that’s super peaceful. They also have cool installations and sculptures that are fun to explore without feeling overwhelming. It feels really open, airy, and welcoming, not stuffy like some museums. Definitely a great spot to hang out, grab a coffee nearby, and just relax. I’d highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

Yelp
Such a vibe! You could walk right past this space and never know the beauty that exists inside of it. In fact, I have passed it on my way to Good Time coffee or Urbana a few times and haven't noticed it. This is an event and art space with a lovely sculpture exhibition right now throughout the exterior and interior. Their gift shop is also worth stopping in and their back bar as well. They have beautiful libations for the sober curious and the not curious. I'd love to pop in with a notebook or laptop and do some writing outdoors one day-- your artist will be inspired after visiting-- take her/him/them now!

Yelp
We were only here for a nightcap and desserts. Both could be skipped/not impressive and hence, didn't justify the LA prices. It's an art museum with abstract pieces and on the day we visited there was psychedelic disturbing sort of video playing on loop. It's also not located in a central well lit spot. Overall, didn't like our visit.

Yelp
Compound is such a unique community space. I've gone there to check out art exhibits, free community activities, and to have a meal at Union. I appreciate their intentional and thoughtful programming for the community. I'm sure I'll be visiting many more times in the future.

Yelp
Been here several times- most recently last night! Wednesdays are half off bottles of wine so we had a really nice sparkling rose! The food was overall really good! I think our favorite was the burrata and pea tendril salad, although the short ribs and quarter friend chicken were also delicious! The shrimp toast was a miss in my mind- wouldn't order again! We also had the mango dessert which was amazing! Service was good also- Joy was attentive but didn't hover! I love the garden setting! This is one is my new favorites in Long Beach!

Yelp
I went to Compound last night for aTaco Bell Drawing Club event. That event alone is good for five stars. But I'm on here to talk about the great burger and a beer deal. They have a burger on the happy hour menu that is killer. Great flavor with a nice bit of char on it served with plenty of fries and it comes with a pint of your choice. Definitely going back to try some of the other happy hour specials. Staff was fun and friendly. Not crazy art exhibits to please the eye.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. Part museum, part restaurant. Love the venue. They work with non-profits and private parties to put on events. Highly recommend it. I would seriously get married here. Union (restaurant) is brand new. Only 3 dishes and the gelatos are vegan. They opened ab a month ago and the food was fresh but needed some work. I thought the cauliflower and broccoli were too hard. My friend thought 2 of their non-vegan dishes needed salt. Looking forward to the chef dialing in everything as time goes by

Yelp
This is quite an amazing place. Art exhibits and a great restaurant. The parking garage access could be improved. But it didn't detract from enjoying our visit.

Yelp
Just had an event here for a group and the people there are so nice and efficient. The compound itself is in a little bit of a sketch area and the parking isn't all that close to it but once you get past that, the actual compound is quite nice inside. The food is pretty decent. It was Asian inspired but then we had the compound catering food so I'm not sure about the regular menu. The art gallery was pretty small but I spent most of my time at the bar. The drinks were great and their coconut fat infused drink that looks like an old fashion was pretty amazing. Overall, I do recommend this place as a great place to have an event.

Yelp
Very cool spot with something for everyone. There's art installations, a community market, design space, novelty gift-shop, yoga, guided meditation, event venue....It's a hidden gem. I wanted a quiet, cozy space to catch up and get a high quality cocktail. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. The drinks were excellent and the staff was warm and attentive. I especially liked the wildflower cocktail which was a spectacular combination of passionfruit and basil. The menu had some enticing vegetarian / vegan / plant-based options but we went the opposite direction with the chuck and galbi. The chuck was tender and juicy. The galbi was chargrilled and very flavorful. The food was high quality and the portions were substantial. The atmosphere was upscale but the prices were incredibly reasonable. I look forward to trying more menu items!

Yelp
The Compound is back and will now offer a dining experience called Union with food by Baryo! The experience overall is 10/10. The first thing that stands out is the team. Everyone is so friendly and takes pride in their work. They make me want to go back to be part of their community. The ambiance is beautiful and you don't feel like you're right off Anaheim. The vibe is super chill with a sick DJ. The food is delicious and the cocktails are my favorite. Each one has a unique flavor. It's easy to get carried away and spend $$$ if you aren't careful. Don't miss out!

Yelp
We had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party here and it was the perfect venue for the event. Having multiple spaces--outside courtyard, inside dining, and separate dance room--allowed us maximum flexibility for our 100-person event. The food was absolutely amazing, and the staff at the Compound worked with us to get the menu just right--they even added vegetarian sliders without us asking to the slider selection. They catered to our younger crowd with mocktails and an ice cream bar. We got to work with Julie, who helped us every step of the way, and made sure the night was flawless.

Yelp
Nothing was good - the food, the cocktails, the wine or the service. The price was somewhat offensive - $42 for a less than 1" thick, gray ribeye with no sear? I have no qualms about paying a lot for a good meal. This wasn't exorbitant - but it also wasn't a good meal. 2 stars is generous. The space was lovely. Hope the next restaurant does it better.

Yelp
Loved this peaceful gallery! The exhibits were stunning and we even ate at the restaurant- Union -- 10/10. I also got a channel orange Frank Ocean vinyl record at the gift shop

Yelp
This place is incredible. Behind the wall is a beautiful garden with full grown trees and lovely art. The food and service were first rate. The drink menu was amazing with special handcrafted drinks.

Yelp
There's a cool new art space in Long Beach. Everyone here is friendly and welcoming. You can sit in the courtyard and order some drinks and snacks. They will expand soon with indoor dining. Tidepool exhibit by Glenn Kaino was interesting. It's an interactive exhibit where you will see cloud chambers (created in partnership with NASA designers), a wishing well, and there's a sound component. Step into the darkness and make a wish. My favorite was the wishing well that featured a sculptural tank filled with bioluminescent dinoflagellates. Magical experience. If you check out their website they've got free events such as yoga, soundbath, art making, etc. Excited to see what's coming next and what they do with this space.

Yelp
Had a club 1 anniversary celebration here and the space was so amazing! The star was very friend and accommodating. Our group was able to set up activities and classes for our guests. They don't allow outside food or drinks, but they have a great menu to pick from and the events coordinator will work with you to come up with a great menu for your guests. The small bites we got were delicious. Highly recommend the shrimp toast! The drinks were also so delicious. There was plenty of space for over 100 guests! If you're looking for an event space, I would definitely use this place!

Yelp
The Long Beach Walking club held our One Year Anniversary party at Compound and it was such an incredible event! The Compound staff was so accommodating at supporting our group of 100, and it was truly a perfect space for an event! They allowed us access to a large room perfect for having yoga and a sound bath, and went the extra step to ensure that we felt special. From coffee bar staff and waitstaff up to the events coordinator and hostess, all the staff were engaging, kind, and patient! Compound is truly a beautiful space and I can't wait to return for future events, and personal outings.

Yelp
Great concept! Cozy landscape! Resort gallery feel! It think this place needs a pronoun... so does the food. Asian/Filipino fusion great idea but flavor's a bit diluted. What Filipino food needs is authentic taste with modern approach... this is why Japanese, Thai, Korean and of course Chinese food are a hit! It's original yet relatable!

Yelp
We had a delightful and delicious (and very reasonably priced) meal here! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
This space has so many offerings and dimensions. Every time I return here, its a new and beautiful experience for my eyes, heart, ears, belly and wellbeing.

Yelp
Enjoyed my visit on a Sunday with an incredible sound bath, and then a delicious brunch with peaches and waffle. The contemporary art spaces are beautiful, and we sat and chatted in the sculpture garden. The current exhibit is called Chaos to Cosmos, and had some amazing pieces on display. Go online to sign up for classes! I have enjoyed them all! Thank you Compound!
