Old-School Montreal Favourite Wings N Things Pops Up in NDG | Eater Montreal

"Now brick-and-mortar, the sushi catering operation Sushi à la Maison has a comptoir on Ontario East while continuing its main service where 'Miss Sushis' come to your house; the write-up notes that these women are very white and Québécoise, and correspondingly the menu includes items like duck confit and pulled pork maki as well as a fruit-cookie dough “dessert” sushi." - Tim Forster

I’ve been a customer at Miss Sushi à la Maison several times over the years, but I’m quite disappointed with how much the portions have shrunk. The poke bowls used to be nearly twice the size for the same price, and they just keep getting smaller. Today, I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp poke and only received four shrimp — for $24.15 (tax included). Honestly, at that price, I expect a portion with enough protein to last me until dinner. The flavours are still great, as always, but the value just isn’t there anymore. It feels like a rip-off at this point. Come on — red cabbage, spicy mayo, and pickles don’t cost much to make. The markup must be huge. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

It’s really good! I got a gift card from the restaurant and ordered the family combo to share with my bf. The beef tartare is great, 10/10; the rolls are creative and big! And the best: we couldn’t finish everything, so I had the leftovers for breakfast!

Great sushi! Very full with quality ingredients! The only thing is the actual restaurant is very small and right next to the door so in the winter time, we sat there freezing despite blankets that the restaurant provides. Also, the line ups can be long with limited seating. No hot beverages served (I wanted to buy a tea because I was so cold!). Only kombuchas and cold pressed juices.

Overall expérience was ok the waiting time was less than 20 min and we ordered to eat there. I loved the dish I picked. Although, I wouldn't go there to order sushi and pay an extravagant price for my order especially for a take out/fast food meal without any table service. Knowing there's all you can eat sushi restaurants for that with table service and BYOB... I get and encourage the concept but still. Also right away when entering the place is like Mandy's place, same deco style (all flowery and like you're there to drink some tea), but instead of ordering a personalize and expensive salad is a pokebowl. Although you find some decent choices in the menu. Portions are reasonable and ingredients seem and taste fresh. I had the mango-salmon with apples and strawberries & WoW for the fruity-fishy mix (check the real name on the menu) it was quit delicious and at an affordable price 15$ something and large bowl was almost 20$... Is worth the try so you can judge by yourself. Place is located on Ontario street corner with Bourboniere, metro pie 9 would be the nearest.

As a level 8 Google reviewer, girl couldn't hear what I said and the client before me, kept messing up stuff. I would blame the mask but I sure spoke very loud almost screamed . Previous client too a lot of misunderstanding. But you know what. It's not the cheapest. They had seven people on standby on a mid December Saturday. It explains quick service high quality and more importantly consistent service. I was satisfied by quality, quickness of service and price as a ratio. Not so by service tbh. It's very high quality food and made to order. It has a price. I do find the lunch special weekdays for one at 34.99 to be very expensive for a weekday lunch but I feel 1 star reviews are not fair

Been here many times over the years because they are so close to my work. Very expensive for a poke bowl, but exceptional every time. Very consistent, fresh, tasty and fast service. Highly recommend the salmon and mango poke bowl.

Beautiful place for takeout or simply eat here. Menu is small but everything looks good. Pokebowls, sushi and tartares.

Google
poke "frais". fryed parts super dry, vegetable just average, rice no taste and very sticky, mayo everywhere but not good (should be served on side, its disgusting to have a poke melting in mayo), salmon tasted below average. After eating it, i feel like i eated more junk food than something healthy. And should be half the price the quality is really not here. Will never return for sure.

Yelp
Ici, y'a vraiment place à l'amélioration.

Yelp

Yelp
Was just driving around Trois Rivieres and spotted this gem! The restaurant is super clean and the employees were super helpful The food is unique. I don't usually like to try new things but I had to try this just by looking at it. The combinations are super yummy and look good. The chef is very creative and understands how to combine the flavours well. Overall, I would drive back here from Toronto just for this sushi!

Yelp
One of my biggest pet-peeves is restaurants advertising imitation crab as real crab in their menu. I don't mind paying 20$ for a small appetizer if I think it's crab. However, when I get the plate and reaize it's plain old imitation crab meat with bright red food colouring around, I feel cheated. Is the food good? Yes, a little heavy handed on the mayo and cream cheese, but flavours are good and fish is fresh. Is the service good? Yes, very. Is the place nice? Yes, zen and pretty. Still can't get over the honesty issue with the menu, which is sad as I pass by there all the time on my way back from work and was looking forward to sampling other menu items.

Yelp
I don't think I'll be eating poke anywhere else because this place has really the tastiest and the freshest poke bowl! We tried both the salmon and the shrimps one- they are both sooo good! Also the makis are very fresh and super original- try their duck ones! We will be back

Yelp
Sushi with a Quebecois twist. Combinations were interesting and presentation was excellent. We ordered a large poke and chef's 25 piece mix, sushi pizza and pickled beef tartar. I lived in Toronto for several years and had amazing fusion sushi (Guy, sushi Nomi). The food here looked great but far from the Asian versions. There was no sashimi or chirashi so it was mostly smoked fish and canned tuna mixes. I could recommend for people who really like the idea of sushi but not the essence of sushi (raw fish, soya sauce, wasabi, Japanese dressings). I still like the more traditional not so much the western take.

Yelp
Having followed the owner/miss sushi on social media and seen her in various tv appearances, I was looking forward to finally tasting her food! We visited the restaurant during lunch time. It had been open for just a couple of weeks so there was a small line-up and the inside was full. The lineup moved quickly enough and we received our food to-go (no seats were available for eating in) in cute boxes. We ordered cornicochons (fried pickles topped with beef tartare), duck maki and 2 poke bowls (bang bang shrimp and salmon duo). The food itself was pretty good. Okay, not mind blowing as I was expecting it to be but it was good. The flavour combinations were unique. Not what you would find in your usual sushi/poke joint. The salmon bowl, for example, had strawberries and apples in it. The mix of sweet and savoury was nicely balanced. The cornicochons were decadent. The first bites were so good but we quickly felt like they were heavy/greasy overall. Neither of us was crazy about the duck maki. A little gamey in flavour even with the supreme of mandarine. The poke bowls were both good although I found the rice to be a little underdone for my taste. The service was excellent and I wish we would have been able to sit inside for our meal because the interior decor is to die for. The restaurant was filled with lots of natural light, painted in pastel colors and the food was served on vintage looking dinnerware. I'm giving this resto 3 stars mostly because 1) it's quite expensive compared to other sushi/poke bowl places and 2) we felt the flavours did not deliver. This resto and its food is instagram worthy but I found myself to be a little disappointed. I don't see myself craving this food for a long time, unless I decide to make my own poke bowl.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place!!! I ordered a sushi pizza with poached salmon because I tend to be weary of raw fish unless I think a place is trust worthy, and the food was so good that I would totally try raw there the next time I go (and there will DEFINITELY be a next time). My wife ordered the vegetarian poke bowl and said it was really good too. It seems like it's designed to be more of a takeout place but they definitely have seating. We weren't served, our names were called and we picked up our order at the counter/left the tray and dishes at designated spot, but the seating arrangement is pretty cute, and even though it's a little like a food court on the service side, it is really great quality food. The staff was super friendly and helpful, answering a bunch of my stupid questions, and it's a semi open kitchen, which is something I like. I prefer to be able to see my food being cooked/prepared, which I couldn't really see here, but when a kitchen isn't a totally closed off environment I just feel a little more at ease for some reason. The sushi pizza can get a little expensive depending what you put on it, but I felt I got my money's worth for what I ordered. Like I said, I'm definitely going back and I'd recommend it.
