We found this place via yelp. We had breakfast here today. The service was friendly and quick.
I ordered the chilaquiles in red sauce with steak and an egg, over medium. My partner had the Tres Leches French Toast with a side of sausage, bacon, and house potatoes. We both had cafe de olla.
Our favorite was the Tres Leches French Toast, it's not too sweet and is topped with fresh berries. Outside of the french toast the bacon, egg and sausage are basic breakfast items; therefore, difficult to mess up. However, the house potatoes had pieces of undercooked potatoes and overcooked potatoes & the presentation was lackluster.
The chilaquiles, were the biggest disappointment. I added steak, but it's chopped up into tiny pieces and I could barely find any of it in the dish. The chilaquiles are more like tortilla soup. The tortilla chips were not coated evenly in salsa and it looked more like they poured the sauce into the bowl and just dumped a bunch of chips inside and poured more sauce over the chips. I ended up leaving most of it because it became a gross pile of mush. Additionally, the chilaquiles were way too spicy. I like spicy foods, but these were painfully spicy, making them inedible.
The server warned us that the cafe de olla was sweet, but that was an understatement as it tasted nothing like coffee, and all like sugar water. One of the worst cafe de olla that we have had.
The space is open, clean and with some nice decor consisting of pictures and paintings of old Mexican artists. However, the seating is terrible. The chairs are not meant for anyone with hips and/or thick thighs. Very uncomfortable.
Overall the flavor of the food is good, but it's nothing to rave about. Still debating on whether it's worth another visit.
