23 of San Diego’s Best Bakeries | Eater San Diego

"This longtime local bakery is known for its breads and savory sandwiches. Now part of the Cohn family of restaurants, the cafe maintains its stellar sweet treats and wide range of loaves. Standout menu items are chocolate brioche twists, challah, and pane cioccolata with imported Belgian milk chocolate and honey, available only on the weekends." - Helen I. Hwang

The Best Sandwiches in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"The decadent Almost Grilled cheese, with melty brie and gorgonzola on rosemary olive oil bread, might be the move at this Liberty Station bakery and cafe but the turkey Cobb is also noteworthy, layering turkey, applewood-smoked bacon, gorgonzola, avocado, house-roasted tomatoes, and lettuce —all the goodness of a Cobb salad — between sliced bread." - Candice Woo

Google
Enjoyed the coffee and bakery from Con Pane! Really nice dog friendly patio with a lot of seating that you can sit comfortably for a while. We ordered iced mocha, iced honey lavender, and chocolate chip cookie. Our dog enjoyed the freshly baked treat on the menu! Friendly staff members. Recommend!

Google
I’ve been coming to Con Pane for close to two decades. They have amazing artisan breads, loaves, & pastries. Their Turkey Cobb sandwich on rosemary bread is my go-to; it’s a delightful combination with the avocado, blue cheese, bacon, etc. Picking up Con Pane is great for picnicking or a quick lunch. I’ve got to say though, for the price of a whole sandwich ($15), you’d think I’d get a little bit more turkey and bacon (see photo). Pretty sure there was one thin slice of turkey and one slice of bacon. We’re all going through tough times, but I feel a little ripped off. Turkey cobb turned turkey robbed.

Every time I visit San Diego I get my breakfast there! The food is very well prepared and served! The atmosphere is pretty cool and service is great! Sourdough bread is perfect!

Nice soup and roasted turkey sandwich. The hot latte is not too bad as well. I like the atmosphere there and you can study there all day long!

We went in for a sandwich and just got the cinnamon roll. amazing. then we thought we should eat some real food... so we went for the grilled cheese. yum 😋

Google
Their sandwiches are quite good. But here's the money hiccup. Menu prices misleading. Because what you really pay is higher. On the receipt you won't notice at first. But read a little further to discover the "5% supplemental fee." It felt dishonest & deceptive. The posted menu price is NOT the real price.

Google
Genuinely one of my favorite places for lunch. I’ve been going here for years, the service is always fast and respectful, and the food is always fresh and is definitely worth the place. If you’re looking for a delicious place to go, this is the spot!

Google
Eaten in or taken to go, you can't really go wrong with the classic loaves of bread. My favorite is the kalamata but they're all amazing. Get a loaf or order a slice, they'll come with spreads. The pastries are good but a solid 3.5 maybe 4. The bread however, is definitely a 5/5.

Yelp
Arrived at 11:45am. I ordered 3 Roast Beef sandwiches 2/whole and mine was a half RB. 2 on sourdough no goat cheese Or onions 1 olive bread this had everything. The Cashier was quick and super friendly too. It was to go order I was sad it took longer to wait but the sandwich were a big hit. And 2 peanut butter cookies for them a surprise Our daughter was so happy Said gee what a great treat. The sandwiches were big too and soft bread and crisp lettuce & tomato I really enjoy mine too

Yelp
I've been coming here for the past 10 years off and on. I absolutely love their garlic and tomato focaccia bread, it's really addicting. I actually am not 100% sure if it's focaccia or not but it's amazing! They actually started making new ones as well I believe they have a garlic, feta, caramelized shallot, and balsamic bread as well which we tried today and it was pretty good. The service is pretty well, the line can be a bit long but it moves fast for the most part. It's been several years since I've tried their sandwiches so I forget the quality on those but I think I might try one here pretty soon to give them a go again. Their pastries can be a hit or a miss though. four out of five stars and will continue to come back!

Yelp
We've been to Con Pane before, but today we came for its Kouign Amman Festival.  Readers of my reviews know that my wife and I are devotées of this French pastry treat.  The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries greeted us when we entered the bakery/café, almost turning my head to other treats in the cases. Rather than waiting in the queue for breakfast items, we went to the cashier for bread and pastries only.  The cashier was friendly and attentive. We had our Kouign Amman in a matter of minutes, and we found a deuce (table for two) with no wait -- confession, we brought our own coffees. The Kouign Amman was very good (4/5 $3.75 each).  We lingered over these layered pastry treats .... and almost ordered to more! Con Pane offers both indoor and patio seating, as well as take-away.

Yelp
Came in for a quick bite I had the focaccia with tomato and cream cheese. It was delicious! Super moist and crispy on the edges. When we walked to the front the cashier was like whatever lol but it's okay. The place was nice and clean we sat down ate our bread and left. I wish we would've tasted a sweet treat or a sandwich that also looked good. But I just came in for something quick as my daughter was hungry and wanted something fast.

Yelp
Word of the wise, don't go during lunch time as this place gets hectic. Upon arrival we were surprised how long the line was around 12:30p on a Wednesday afternoon. There were no available seats and the staff seemed pretty overwhelmed. However we were there for just bread so fortunately for us there's a separate line which had no one in it. After a few minutes I managed to make eye contact with someone who immediately helped us though you could tell he was super stressed out. We placed our order then was asked if we wanted our bread sliced, a quick no was our reply. He grabs a load of bread and starts to slice it, lol. That's how crazy it is in there. Anyhoo, he caught himself about halfway through and got us another loaf. Within a few minutes had a bag containing a sourdough boule, sourdough baguette and a sourdough epi. Honestly I don't think I'd ever eat in-store. It was crazy busy, stressful and loud. I however have ordered delivery a few times and will say that's probably the best route if crowds stress you out like they do me. Their sandwiches and breads are pretty darn good, my favorite being their sourdough boule, great crumb and nice chew. Looking forward to my next delivery order.

Yelp
Okay, so typically I love this place. They have the most delicious fresh bread. My favorite is the Gruyère chive which is only offered on certain days. It's frustrating though because they won't use it in their sandwiches unless you purchase the whole loaf. It's not like that with their other breads. Today I ordered the Turkey Cobb no mayo (I'm allergic and specified so). When I received it, it had mayo. Usually they are careful. They did quickly remake the sandwich so it worked out in the end. My only other concern is that it is not very accessible. A wheelchair has to go through the back, not the front entrance. This can be a pain because the person has to get to the front door to realize they can't get in that way. It's a challenge for strollers too. Other than that they are amazing.

Yelp
Con Pane is a MUST VISIT whenever I visit San Diego and it has found it's way into my kiddos hearts in the same way. This visit we came on a Saturday (risky as it's very busy and seated is very sparse) but I really wanted a chocolate loaf roll for my treat this visit. The kids all requested their OWN brioche cinnamon rolls and begged to split a chocolate croissant. My parents tried the chocolate twist and a scone along with coffee. Con Pane has surely expanded their menu and now offers milk alternatives as well as many new fresh breads. We were all delighted with our treats although I'd skip the chocolate croissant next time and try the almond croissant instead. The chocolate bread was good, but not as amazing as I remembered. I highly recommend Con Pane and will continue visit on every single trip!

Yelp
While definitely an expensive place it's an absolutely delicious bakery restaurant. They're very very good at what they claim to specialize in - baking bread. All their loaves are delicious but I'm an especially big fan of their rosemary olive oil and their Gruyère and chive breads. Don't sleep on the chocolate bread too. As for their actual food I heheh well delicious but I'm an especially big fan of their turkey cobb which is my go to and the grilled cheese. Both are excellent filling sandwiches and while the ingredients are fresh it's the homemade bread make it. Their coffee and pastries remain good too as their cookies especially chocolate chip and cowgirl are hard to resist. Their staff are fantastic and they'll always help no matter how busy while the ambiance is that of a great bakery cafe. You're going to pay for premium but the food makes it worth it and in this world $15 for a full sandwich is actually a decent price. It's highly recommended as one of the best bakeries in town and worth it.

Yelp
This place is so popular and for good reason! Their breads are so delicious. I've tried their cinnamon rolls (so good), focaccia (bring it home and heat it up to enjoy it), and their hazelnut twists. I have also tried their turkey sandwich - the sandwich itself is fine, but the bread is just so good. I would say come and try their bread, get a loaf - it's pricey for bread but yummy.

Yelp
Returned with a guest. Food was outstanding and portions are generous. I had tomato bisque soup, almost grilled cheese and Cafe Mexicano. Although not a long line this time around, food service was lengthy and d again coffee was served with meal. As opposed to serving it beforehand. It would really take the sting out of waiting 20-30 minutes for food if we could enjoy our coffee. It's a no brainer. Workers from order taker to management on the floor still have a pretentious aura, tacky. It would be awesome if the staff could sample the food so when patrons have questions they can say something other than "I've never tried it" Always love getting recommendations from staffers other than "many people order it" Will definitely go again bc the food is just so fresh. Just make sure you have ole Thank you of time.

Yelp
My son's girlfriend had been visiting San Diego for a few days, but we didn't have the chance to meet up with her. Thankfully, we were able to coordinate to meet up for breakfast this morning. Thanks to my better half for finding a restaurant that was conveniently located from my son's apartment and where we needed to go afterwards. Besides being centrally located, Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe served scrumptious sandwiches with amazing bread as vessels for its contents, delightful and memorable pastries/cookies, and tasty Java to wash our grub down. Con Pane is located in the Liberty Station confines, which is next to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot complex. Closest major thoroughfare would be Rosecrans Street. Within Liberty Station, it's on the corner of Historic Decatur and Dewey Roads. The restaurant is next to Slater's 50/50, next to Sea Hive, next to Cocina 35, across the street from the Barracks 19 building, and diagonally from the Visions Art Museum. There is plenty of lot and street parking. It's a spacious spot with indoor and outdoor umbrella seating. Inside the restaurant, vibrancy abodes with the music, paint colors, framed pics of bakery utensils, painted verbiage like "eat more bread", interesting light fixtures, and rattan chair seats. It can get loud with the consistent flow of airplanes from our local airport. You order from the customer service oriented and friendly employees, they'll provide you with a number, and your food will be delivered to you. Con Pane is primarily a bakery that specializes in breads and baked goods. The focal point of the restaurant are their display cases of these breads and pastries. They also serve a variety of sandwiches, soups, sweets, and hot/cold drinks. It was a little intimidating trying to decide what to order because everything looks so delicious. When my son and his girlfriend finally joined us, they wanted to order sandwiches just like me. For the sandwiches, you get to choose what type of bread you want to encapsulate the toppings with and the bread would be from the Daily Breads choices. For our party of four we ordered the following: half sandwiches of Turkey Cobb with Rosemary Olive Oil bread, Roasted Turkey with Rosemary Olive Oil bread, Italian Salami with Point Loma Sourdough bread, Raisin Brioche Cinnamon Roll, and two cups of hot Butterscotch Lattes. My sandwich was the Turkey Cobb and it was amazing with the soft and tasty Rosemary Olive Oil bread. My sandwich comes with roasted turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, fresh avocado, crumbled Gorgonzola, house roasted Roma tomatoes, mayo, and Romaine lettuce. For a half sandwich, they weren't stingy with its ingredients, it was fresh tasting, and it was yummy. I really enjoyed the butterscotch latte to make each bite of food go down easier. We brought home an assortment of scones, a butter toffee peanut butter cookie, and a chocolate hazelnut twist. It was a blessing to spend quality time with our son and his girlfriend. We all got to enjoy for the first time the delectable sandwiches and luscious coffee from Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe.

Yelp
Food: 6/10 Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 9/10 Maybe. Just maybe I got the wrong sandwich because I've heard great things about this place but it was so mid. But it was such a mid experience that I'm not sure if I'd go back. But service was good and cute vibes!!

Yelp
Great coffee and wonderful selection of breads. I got the Avocado toast and it was absolutely amazing......the parfait with the Greek yogurt was also delicious I couldn't stop stealing bites of my gfs order haha will definitely swing by here again!

Yelp
Love this spot, obviously excels in bread making. Cinnamon rolls are delicious. Lattes have always been on point. Great spot to work or have a lunch or coffee meet. Haven't tried the sandwich's yet but they look amazing. My hubby and I most recently shared the savory bread plate and was awesome. Service always delivers.

Yelp
My go-to order for the past few years has been the turkey cobb sandwich on rosemary bread. I have never had any complaints--until now. When I received my sandwich order it looked like it was built just hastily and was extremely skimpy on toppings. I had one avocado on one half and everything was built just to fill the middle. For its price, I was stunned to open this mess of a sandwich. It was layered on in clumps and chunks. I had already left the area before seeing it upon opening to eat.

Yelp
Update: I rarely have a business owner reach out to me to resolve a problem my wife and I experienced, but Con Paine Rustic Breads & Cafe did just that! In addition to replying quickly to my Yelp review, I had a very pleasant phone conversation from a representative who was genuinely concerned about the sandwiches we were served. During the course of our conversation, I learned just how seriously they take customers' opinions, and just how sincere they are about producing quality, fresh, delicious, well-made sandwiches. That was really impressive to hear! We have all been to a few restaurants where the management's attitude about what customers think are somewhat aloof. On the contrary, that is NOT SO with Con Paine! They truly care. When we visit this cafe again, I've been assured that our sandwiches will be hitting the mark we have come to enjoy over the years. And I trust they will.

Yelp
Amazing bakery that everyone from SD needs to try. I got the white cheddar and scallion scone and a croissant. Scone is a must for people who love savory scone, and the croissant is such high quality. Sandwiches are solid too-- the highlight is the thick cut bread (get the rosemary olive oil bread). Turkey Cobb is great and love the Gorgonzola cheese. The ambiance here is spot on for casual dining with friends. Lots of tables indoors and outdoors. Service was friendly and quick!

Yelp
This place has so many positive reviews for a reason. Even though I live 25 mins away, I make the drive every 2 weeks to refill on Sourdough, which is a staple in our household. I've been coming here for years but wanted to write this review to specifically shoutout Tyler for his exceptional customer service. I had some unforeseen circumstances come up and wasn't able to pickup my order anymore. I called Con Pane and someone picked up right away (a huge plus in this age of robots). Tyler was incredibly helpful, understanding and kind. He was very flexible to make sure that I got my order and I can't thank him enough for accommodating me. The bread alone at Con Pane is delicious but the amazing service and environment will keep you coming back.

Yelp
Whenever I'm around the Point Loma area of San Diego I make it a point to come by Con Pane to enjoy their fresh breads and delicious treats. You'll enjoy everything from their many choices of breads and pastries to their excellent coffee selections and the sweetest customer service ever! This time around I ordered the sweet bread baker's plate (with my selection of raisin and hazelnut, pan cioccolata and multigrain breads), a raisin brioche cinnamon roll and a cafe au lait. As always, all were prepared to my delight. They have a nice choice of eating areas either inside or out. Both will offer you a very comfortable and relaxing experience. I'll be back again for sure!

Yelp
I have no words, everything was absolutely delicious! I saw a huge line coming out of the cafe and thought I'd just pop in to see what they had. The smell of fresh bread was intoxicating. I ordered the following: Garlic, Tomato & Cream Cheese Foccacia: 5/5 DELICIOUS. Wow. I'm not even sure how to describe this, but the garlic and tomato was so tasty on the focaccia. I actually wanted to order the pesto version but they sold out. Butter Toffee Peanut Butter Cookie: 5/5 Loved this cookie! So soft and chewy.
google avatar

Sam F.

Yelp
Clearly ordered incorrectly. The bread itself tasted good but the lack of cheese on the grilled cheese made it ridiculously notworth the price. The whole breads and pastries look amazing and would definitely be open to trying those on the next visit but will never order this again. Even the turkey sandwich was lackluster with only two slices of turkey. The turkey itself was good quality, but you could get a more satisfying sandwich at Sprouts. Three stars for the taste of the bread and the cute traditional bakery ambience that isn't often found these days.

Yelp
This place is such a hidden San Diego gem. I love cinnamon rolls, and the brioche cinnamon roll did not disappoint! The cinnamon roll is light and not too sweet and when you dine in they warm it up for you. The service is wonderful they bring your food out to your table. It's a great spot for a weekend coffee meet up or a quick grab and go before a walk at Liberty Station. They have two parking lots across the street and they have indoor & outdoor seating. I'm craving another cinnamon just writing this review!

Yelp
We came in before the lunch rush on a weekday. It takes a while at the register as they put in your order and ask you questions. Did I want my focaccia round warmed up? Cut in four? I can see how this might be problematic at the lunch rush. With only one couple ordering in front of us it was fine. I ordered a focaccia/pizza round and a lemonade. My BF had the bread baker's plate and a large coffee. We always preorder bread to pick up as well. I was very happy with my focaccia. It was 4 cheese, salami, and fresh greens with an olive oil/lemon dressing. I would definitely get it again! Service was great, indoor & outdoor seating but not many tables open, a fun bustling atmosphere.

Yelp
Made a stop at Con Pane before heading back to LA. As soon as we pulled up, we could see how many people were coming in and out with bags of bread. We got their their Daily - Garlic, Tomato & Cream Cheese focaccia and their Spinach, Roasted Shallot, Parmesan Cheese & Balsamic Vinaigrette. We definitely liked the garlic, tomato and cream cheese more. The Chocolate Hazelnut Twists was good as well. We also got their Seeded French Baguette. Can't wait to make a sandwich with that. We gotta come back next time to try their other bread or sandwich. There's plenty of places to eat there since it's part of Liberty Station.
google avatar

Karlee B.

Yelp
Stopped in here twice when spending a weekend in the area. There was a small line both times, that moves rather quickly, but is a blessing in disguise since the menu is huge and overwhelming. You also have to strategize grabbing tables if you're with a larger group. You order at the counter and they bring you your order in a reasonable amount of time. I split the breakfast sandwich and the roast beef sandwich with my partner and they were both great. The egg was almost quiche style which I enjoyed. It was light, fluffy and flavorful. And the sourdough bread was great. We got the roast beef sandwich on Kalamata olive bread and it was insaneeee. The flavor from the bread was so clear and it had the best texture. The simplicity of the ingredients were great too and they were generous on the goat cheese - which I love. Finished off with a GIANT chocolate croissant and an iced latte. Too much food but all wonderful.

Ellianna D.

Yelp
WOW. This food. I was blown away. The quality of the bread was so incredibly flavorful and light and satisfying, and the sandwich ingredients were SO fresh. The restaurant was busy, with good reason. If I lived in the area it would be difficult not to come every single day I could. Yet we were still able to find a table relatively quickly, and the sandwiches were brought out with remarkable speed. I knew I had no need for an entire loaf of bread, but man was I close to buying one. Or three. They just smelled that good. So anyways I'm already planning my next trip back specifically to visit Con Pane. And try ALL of their bread. I think I'd like to eat nothing but bread for all of my meals from here on out. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how much I enjoyed this cafe.

Yelp
This place is delicious! The sandwich and bread were so fresh and beautifully crafted. Adorable outdoor seating.

Yelp
Their bread is incredible!! Can't wait to go back and try more options off the menu. The wine flights were okay and the dips for the bread were divine.

Yelp
This is a buzzing bakery cafe with a wide variety of artisan breads, sandwiches, caffeinated beverages and baked goods. There is almost always a line but two cashiers take care of the customers ordering from the entire menu and one cashier assists bread purchasers only, moving through the guests pretty quickly. My cashier made recommendations as I had trouble deciding between two espresso-based items. The seasonal rose latte was delicious but a tad too sweet for my liking, masking the espresso flavor. The single slice of the raisin-hazelnut bread was scrumptious with a slathering of salted butter. My only regret was not ordering an additional slice of another flavor to try! The crumb was tender and the crust was not unreasonably hard. Other reviewers have noted that their pastries are not as excellent and I would have to agree that the brioche dough on the hazelnut twist was a bit dry and lacked the pillowy texture I've come to expect from brioche. Picked up a sourdough baguette for the road and was pleased to see that there were a variety of flavors to choose from. Another customer hugged 6 baguettes of her choosing, paying for them and then walked out happily. I was envious! Haha. Service is prompt, tables are bussed pretty quickly considering the dining room was almost full with patrons like professors and tutors meeting with students and friends meeting for lunch. Parking is easy to find, and Liberty Station is a wonderful place to hangout, allowing a pause from the daily grind to pray and give thanks for the beauty of God's creation and for the brave men and women who continue to fight for our freedoms all over the world.

Yelp
Wow this place is Heaven for breads, my daughter and I had a blast for the past 4 days exploring San Diego. My daughter has been here before and she knows how much I love GOOD bread and this place was amazing. Great service, very hardworking staff and CLEAN. It was perfect that they have thick slice of any bread with jams, butter or cream cheese. My daughter has avocado toast on Kalamata bread with fully loaded avocado, portions were great and fresh squeezed orange juice and my earl grey tea

Yelp
I've been here a few times and have genuinely been blown away by their sandwiches. We've also had some catering from them for meetings in past. I'm not a fan of their pastries (not even their beloved cinnamon roll as most of the pastries tasted dry and not as fresh). There's usually 1-2 cashiers taking orders. The pastry and bread selections are on display up front. There's also a 5% surcharge on every order along with the tip screen that comes up after you give them your credit card. The bussers, who bring your dine in and to go orders, generally have been more friendly than the cashiers for some reason. My go to order is the: Turkey Cobb Sandwich $13.95 (whole sandwich) which has Roasted Turkey Breast, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Fresh Avocado, Crumbled Gorgonzola , House Roasted Roma Tomatoes, Mayonnaise and Romaine Lettuce You can select several breads but my fave is the sourdough. The crust has the best chew texture and the innards are ridiculously pillow-y with the perfect amount stretch and 'holes' (maybe from the yeast?). The are able to sub the gorgonzola for brie and add extra mayo at no extra charge. It legit is a fantastic sandwich. My family has purchased a variety of their breads with no complaints. So I'd return to try other items .

Yelp
My friend and I went a little over board getting food here. I ordered the Seasoned Roast Beef and my friend got the Italian Salami. I think the Seasoned Roast Beef was pretty good, not anything special, but the Italian Salami had excellent flavor. I'm not sure what it was, but I think the added pesto sauce in the Italian Salami gave it the extra flavor needed. This is a spot I will take my visiting friends to have good pastries and sandwiches.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, sandwich and soup, and YES, the cinnamon roll -- had to try it. Everything was soooo delicious.

Yelp
Love this spot, everything was amazing, we came for breakfast every single day. Employees were amazing kind and helpful. Really busy on Labor Day. We will be back!

Yelp
Stopped by here to get some work done on a free weekday morning. When I first got here ~9AM, it was fairly empty with lots of seats inside and outside. I ordered the Sweet Baker Plate, since it seemed like this place is well known for their breads! Ordered at the counter and sat down inside to do some reading. They have wifi which was great! By the time I left ~noon, it was very busy and lively! When my food came, I was slightly in shock as I did not expect the size of the bread slices. Each slice was a bit over an inch thick! Needless to say it took me quite a while to work through all this food. I slowly munched away at each bread I chose (Sourdough, French, Rosemary) with the jam, cream cheese, and butter! I was so surprised to have finished it all, and that really is a testament to how good the bread was!! I was there for over 3 hours slowly eating and all the bread was still so moist, soft, and flavorful. I would recommend getting it not toasted as to fully enjoy the nuances of each type of bread! They also have sandwiches and pastries, which I will be sure to come back and try!

Yelp
Great place for breads, sandwiches and wines! Located in the Liberty Station area of San Diego California and a great venue for eating, drinks, relaxing, napping on the grass under a tree or shopping.

Yelp
Took my friend here that was visiting from Seattle. He enjoyed the butterscotch latte I always brag about and the yummy chocolate chip cookies! This place is usually busy but welcoming.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place when we went to ArtWalk at Liberty Station this past weekend. The plan was to try to find a place where we could get a light breakfast, and this seemed to fit the bill. We are so glad we went! First, the food was terrific! We got the Focaccia - Pesto, Ricotta, Roasted Shallots & Yellow Cherry Tomato - and a Cinnamon roll. Both were so fresh and tasty, absolutely delicious. Also had a fresh squeezed orange juice - and it really was just that. The ambiance is very kicked back and high energy. Lots of people coming and going - plus very dog friendly. Service was pretty quick - there was a line to order, but it moved quickly. Then you get a number and the food comes to you. It came out in a very reasonable amount of time. We would definitely return - very glad we found this place.

Yelp
I love this place so much. The food and sweet treats are amazing!!!! My usual order is a turkey cobb sandwich substituted with cheddar instead of blue cheese with a tomato bisque and a cinnamon roll. I always bring my family and friends and they end up loving it as well. And since it's in Liberty Station I always go and walk around the little shops and the market place when I finish eating. And I get so excited around any holidays since they come out with some holiday treats and they never miss!!!

Yelp
Love this blend of coffee shop, restaurant and bakery...so much live and so many happy people waiting for the amazing warm breads and sandwiches. I got the kalamata bread and lasted for days with great flavor and consistency. Will get that back. The pastries all great, nice display, attractive to the eyes and flavorful. Wait time was not too long considering the long lines. I prefer to sit outside and at the tables inside can get a bit suffocating due to so many people. One of the best bakeries in San Diego for sure.

Yelp
Just got coffee here, a decaf Americano and a decaf latte. Both really delicious. Both Cafe Moto brand (not sure what this is, help me I'm not from here ). Bread looked AMAZING. And so many options. 10/10 would come back again.

Yelp
The main thing I really enjoy from this place is their amazing tomato, garlic, and cream cheese focaccia! It's so tasty! It taste super fresh and has the perfect amount of garlic flavor. Parking is pretty good! It's next to a big lot. It's always crowded during the weekends, so be prepared for that. The plane flies over quite often, so be prepared for loud noises.

Yelp
Fabulous, simple and efficient brunch at Liberty Station on a Sunday in June. After we were told it was a 2+ hour wait at Cocina 35 we got a little worried. We had a dog with us so we needed to eat outside, plus we were getting hungry! We walked past Con Pane Rustic Breads and it looks delicious, plus it's order at the counter and then sit down at a table. There were plenty of tables open outside so my friend and the pup claimed a table while I waited on the very short line inside to order. I got the breakfast sandwich on focaccia and my friend got the Turkey Cobb on French baguette. And we both got honey lavendar lattes. Everything was brought out to us probably around 20 minutes after we ordered. Everything was so delicious. I was so content after brunch! I'd love to go back for a lunch sandwich next time!

Yelp
We were staying close by and decided to visit this bakery after we checked out of our hotel. We wanted to get something for our drive home. We wished we had eaten here for breakfast the day before because everything sounded and looked so good! It gets crowded later in the morning so come early to avoid the line. 5* for the Kalamata olive bread and the grilled cheese sandwich! We will be back to try other menu items next time!

Yelp
I have always been a die hard Con Pane fan, from when they used to be on Canon st. Such amazing food and pastry. However, I must say, it used to be way better before the Cohn group purchased.... the sandwiches are waaaay skimpier than they used to be. Like I got one slice of avocado on my turkey Cobb, less turkey, less tomato, less bacon, less blue cheese, less excited taste buds. I went back three times and ordered the same sandwich over the course of a few months because I didn't want to believe it wasn't the new standard. Alas, seems that the new sandwiches have a very tight budget on how much they actually put in between the bread. For the price you pay, it shouldn't be an area you need to skimp on.

Yelp
Con Pane was so good when I stopped in with my sister and my niece that i decided to bring my husband down for lunch. I had half a Turkey Cobb sandwich which was absolutely delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Roast Beef sandwich. The staff is super friendly and gets your food out to you in a timely fashion I love that businesses have come in and revived the old NTC buildings. What they have done inside Con Pane is beautiful! I even bought a bag of dog treats, a scone and a couple loaves of bread to take home

Yelp
The 2 star is entirely for the service. The wait for a couple of basic sandwiches is way too long. 20 minutes and still not done and the place isn't all that busy. I felt bad because the table next to us (3 guys) waited for 40 minutes for the last sandwich to show up. Wife had to chase them down and complain just so they can make our food quickly. Looks like they have misplaced/mixed up a number of orders. Quality of the food is good. The bread is pretty soft and fluffy. I have to adjust my expectation next time if I were to come again.
