The 17 Best Restaurants In Allapattah - Miami - The Infatuation

"Conch Town USA delivers on its name. This is the best place to get conch cooked however you like it. Every preparation is great—from their conch fritters and fried conch to their spicy conch salad that’s the perfect post-beach snack. The conch isn’t tough or chewy and tastes like they just plucked it straight from the sea. Even their hot sauces are special: made locally and featuring tropical fruits. This is a to-go restaurant—there’s no seating inside—but you’ll be digging into your order before you even get to the door." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

Conch Town USA - Review - Allapattah - Miami - The Infatuation

"If Miami had an official mollusk, it would be the conch. Not only does it have a pretty deep historical significance to Miami (it’s the number one culinary contribution from the Bahamian immigrants that literally built Miami) but it’s also just delicious. And Conch Town USA is one of the best and most classic places to get some. Every preparation of conch here is exceptional—from their conch fritters and fried conch to their spicy conch salad that’s the perfect post-beach snack. The conch isn’t tough or chewy and tastes like they just plucked it straight from the sea. Even their hot sauces are special: made locally and featuring tropical fruits. This is a to-go restaurant—there’s no seating inside—but you’ll be digging into your order before you get to the door." - Carlos C Olaechea

There’s no way in hell this place thinks putting conch in a hotdog container is considered dressed conch. Please NEVER go here or order on ubereats because they WILL play in your face!

I think it's been a month since I first visited this restaurant. It was actually delicious and Ben meaning to go back. I was in the area this morning and I called several times around 11am, but no answer. I know they open at 11am, so maybe that's why! The parking is street space. That is a worry for me! Atmosphere isn't the best but it looks like an in and out place.

I have been coming here for years. This is a tiny fried conch joint that has been here for many many years. Since 1968!! We didn't see the owner today. The owner is originally from St. Vincent. Very nice guy. We got here a bit late. The place is always clean. The customer service is always good. They are famous for their delicious fried conch. They have other items on the menu such as: fried chicken, fried fish, rice and French fries. There's no place to seat, although they will allow you to stand there and eat your food if you like, (that's what we did 😋😋). It's pretty much a to go type of place. But man it's delicious. What I like most about this place is the cleanliness. I mean, sometimes years go by in between visits, but when I get here, it's always clean. Everyone is friendly. They also have some cool Caribbean sodas. Very nice place. Highly recommended. Thank you very much for checking in. Have a blessed day.

I Ate here as a kid Has new owners but the same recipes! The conch and fries(crinkled)were worth the drive took to get them! Will be returning soon

Google
Conch salad- I got a small but it should be labeled as a sample. The taste was mediocre at best and I was surprised to see it was tomato based...haven't had that in about 10+ years...surprised it's still made that way. It tasted like the conch was sprinkled in the tomato soup, very disappointed with this. Conch/Shrimp/Fries-disappointed again. The conch didn't taste cooked all the way and the fries were plain. Nothing to talk about with the shrimp. If you want this combo, I would recommend Snappers. Better quality with about half the price. I won't come back...wasnt worth what I paid at all ($45.42)! I'll give this place a 2.

Google
Conch Town has delicious fried crack conch. 😋 The sauce that comes with it has a nice tangy, tropical flavor to it, which we enjoyed. The food is great!!! The improvements would be more on the side of customer service/greetings when a customer is standing in front of them. A nice "Hello, how may I help you?" or just "Hi, welcome to Conch Town. What's your order?" will work. But then perhaps it is because the place is extremely hot inside with no ventilation. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Just think of it as having a full Bahamian-heat indoor experience. 🌞 When you visit Conch Town, don't wait until you're super hungry to order, because the wait time will test your patience. Call ahead!!! If you can't call ahead, no worries, add a Jamaican cola to your order, wait outside and enjoy the fresh air. Once you get your fried conch, you will be pleased at the tenderness, light batter, and sauce. Be sure to squeeze your lemon on the fried conch. All fish tastes better with a freshly squeezed lemon! 😋

Google
that was my first time I had ordered food from your restaurant. The food wasn’t bad. The only problem is that they needed to tenderize the Conch more than what they did. It was very tough.

Yelp
You would think with the name conch town your food would actually have conch in it. I use to eat her when I was younger and they were wonderful. Never again. First off they need to fix the uber eats ordering system because you cannot tell what you are ordering with the conch because it's just a bunch of numbers not by pounds just some numbers they didn't explain. I wanted conch and fries and some conch fritters. There were about 5 pieces of conch on my plate which is unacceptable. The conch fritter I shared with my co worker they spit it out along with myself because it was all batter and probable 3 small diced pieces of conch. Change the name please because this is horrible.

Yelp
Had the fried conch and it was absolutely amazing -- crispy, flavorful, and fresh. The staff was super friendly and professional, making the whole experience even better. The restaurant was very clean. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I haven't been here in years, but I wanted to stop By due to me in the area. We visited here on 8/31 and purchased conch fritters, and conch salad. I didn't like the conch salad, but it was a lot of conch. They use tomato paste, or some think paste and it wasn't good. But, I did enjoy the conch fritters which had lots of conch in them and they were delicious. I will visit again, but will choose fried conch, conch fritters, and fries.

Yelp
This neighborhood staple has been around for many years serving the best in conch...be it fried or conch salad. They also have chicken wings, fish & shrimp. Ordering is easy & it's done fairly quickly. It's a carry out joint so don't plan on staying.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years; the food is great , best conch spot in Miami . However, the customer service is terrible. Dude seriously needs to learn how to communicate with people.

Yelp
Food was bad, service too. This place used to be great! Ambiance not nice either. Hope new owners improve

Yelp
Conch Fritters was great! Chicken Wings was even greater!!! Fish and Chips is solidly good. There was no wait to order. They don't make it til you order it so make sure you take that into consideration. For worth the wait.

Yelp
Stepping in this restaurant took me back to my chilhood. In this location for 58 years and still owned by the same family, this is a community staple. On this Friday night, it didn't seem that way. I was the only customer the entire time. The line should have been out the door! What a disappointment. I did order the Special, which was a fourth pound of conch, fries and fish for about $13. The food was freshly cooked when ordered. The conch was nicely seasoned, although a few pieces were more chewy than I preferred. The two fish filets were a nice size and not the traditional grouper usually found on combos like this. I didn't like that I received two packets of tartar sauce. Those are the worst! But it is likely that it is economical. They aso included a small container of conch sauce which I didn't like either. Instead, I settled for the standard condiments, ketchup and mustard. Overall, the food is hot and fresh. Is it the best preparation of conch and fish in town? Absolutely not. But, it's worth the trip to be a part of nostalgic Miami History. I'll definitely go back and try the shrimp next time!

Yelp
We were in Miami last week for a surprise birthday party. My husband is from Miami and loves conch so he had to have some. Where better to go than off the beaten path. We googled and found this place and it was so worth it! We got there and they had just sold the last conch fritters. No worries, the chef heard how disappointed my husband was and he said hold on for a minute. He took what he had left in Ingredients and made him a large fritter! So he also bought the crack (fried) conch too. The pics were taken in the car because he ate all of it before we could get back to the hotel. I had the banana pudding and it was so lite and delicious! The ladies at the counter were so delightful too! We'll definitely be going back when we're in Miami again. Love this place!

Yelp
Haven't been to this place, but giving it 5 Stars for naming itself "Conch Town USA" after Riviera Beach's nickname the first half of the 20th Century. My family are conch immigrants that settled in Riviera Beach and a few in Key West. There is a beautiful book done by photographers working for the WPA in the thirties. It is out of print and difficult to find, but there are copies out there, especially in Florida libraries. Yelp
This place has changed over the years. The food here is just ok to me now. The last time I ate here, I wasn't that impressed with conch and fries. I remember growing up in this neighborhood and frequenting this place a lot. My mom loved conch before she became a vegetarian. So I know this place well. I do however love that this place has been able to sustain its business and its customers. Lot of times as the neighborhood changes and other establishments are built, staple business can't maintain the change. So kudos to them for sustaining for all these years.

Yelp
Conch! ... and lots of it! I used to go to a place by the same owner about 10 years ago in the northern part of the county, and never realized that he had moved to this location just off 36st. So, what an amazing find to discover Conch Town! I grew up eating fresh conch that I used to catch off the flats near stiltsville... long since gone. Then when sailing the Abacos used to dive deep for conch and have it fresh while there. Always a treat. I subsequently have, unfortunately, been spoiled when it comes to conch. I'm almost never happy with the quality or quantity of conch in fritters, chowders, stewed conch, etc. Well, my disappointment is over! At Conch Town the fried conch is incredible, lightly fried, and very fresh. The stewed conch is very similar to the south Florida style conch chowder I grew up with but can no longer be found.. but thicker as a stew. The fritters are the flat wide ones like you find in the Bahamas, and are full of conch... no scrimping here! The owner and staff here are very friendly, so look past the questionable looking neighborhood with assurances that once inside you'll be greeted like family. FYI- there's plenty of street side parking just around the corner to the north of Conch Town. This is pretty much take out only unless you just want to grab a quick bite at the small counter inside. And, don't forget the sweet potato pie!

Yelp
Conch Town has redeem themselves. I went back and they were open when they said they would be. The food has always been great. Im giving them five stars.

Yelp
The absolute best Conch in Town, now featuring Grouper, Snapper and Bronze fish dinners with rice & 2 additional sides

Yelp
The best authentic island food i had since coming back to Miami. The conch taste well seasoned and fresh. Even the wings were phenomenal! Everything i had was made cook to order and was delicious. The owner and other workers were so nice and had great customer service. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great employees and great food. I will be coming back for more!

Yelp
I've had much better conch. Fries weren't hot and conch was mediocre. Don't have a strong desire to return especially since I went out of my way to go here. Oh, and anyone who serves breaded seafood, french fries, or anything that is supposed to be crunchy in styrofoam containers should know that you ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS poke holes in the top so the steam doesn't sweat out your food. They don't practice this here.
google avatar

Yelp
The cracked conch and shrimp is awesome. The sweet potato glaze through me off at first, but it works as it taste very good. My hubby really liked the collards, with me, so so. We are from out of town so didn't know there is no dine in. We took our food back to the hotel to enjoy. The conch and shrimp and collards was about $22.00, but i am taking food home as I am stuffed from 3 pieces of each. Highly recommended!

Yelp
An Allapattah staple for over 4 decades. Conch Town USA has been serving from the same location for generations. The fried conch, fish and fries combo for $11 is a must try for lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried 3 different conch spots, and Conch Town is the best in Miami, hands down. The oxtails were perfectly seasoned and the rice and peas were most, not dry like the other places I visited. The collards were Amazeballs . They were spicy and sweet and fresh. The yams were a bit sweet for my taste but my friend Loved them. We also had the conch and conch fritters. The batter was perfectly seasoned and the conch was tender; not rubbery like some other spots. Try Conch Town before you try anything else. It's off the beaten path, and there are no seats, but you won't mind standing after your first bite.

Lynette R.

Yelp
The food was overpriced. It's definitely a hole in the wall. I also feel like their food was just average in taste. I wish them the best of luck, but I won't be returning.

Jack H.

Yelp
This place was off the beaten track, but it was worth the trek. No frills..., No seating..Just a counter to order your food.... Flavorful deep fried conch. Tender, not overcooked. Will definitely return.
