On the Grid : Condesa Coffee

"Condesa Coffee is a special place for its coffee, but also for the building it's located in on Auburn Avenue. This building was once the site of the Daily World Newspaper, the oldest and continuously running African American Newspaper in American history. The newspaper's office moved to the suburbs after the 2008 tornado hit Atlanta and almost destroyed the building. Today, it houses hip spots like Condesa. Go check it out! The art is fab and so are the waffles!" - Flags of Origin

Best restaurants for avocado toast in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"When it comes to fancy toast, Condesa may have too many options. So, let’s focus on the best: The prosciutto atop lemony ricotta and arugula is kind of like a dessert with meat on top, while the thin, chilled beets and garlicky schmear mesh perfectly." - Sarra Sedghi

Ordered breakfast egg sandwich and a cappuccino. Food tasted amazing and didn’t have to wait long to get my order. The staff is very friendly and nice too.

Google
Loved this coffee shop! Everything was so delicious. And the service was beyond amazing! Definitely recommend if in the Atlanta area.

Google
Condesa Coffee is a nice coffee shop. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I got a latte with whole milk and hubby got drip coffee. The latte had lots of microfoam and was rich with espresso. They had ceramic cups, which I prefer. The drip coffee was whole body and rich. There is plenty of street parking as well as a parking deck. They have two bathrooms.

Me and my friends just had such a pleasant and amazing experience at Condesa Coffee! We were greeted with smiles and great vibes. Definitely one of the best coffee shops here in ATLANTA!

Google
We had such an amazing experience here! The service was so great and the food and coffee was soooo good! We came in with a big group and everyone was so happy with everything! Fast service and everything tasted great!

Google
A great little indie coffee shop of the sort I frequent on my travels. Pleasant staff, cool/quirky/artsy space, lots of seating options. Cortado was delicious, and the aesthetic made-to-order sandwich was the crowning touch- hot savory food at a cafe is a major plus for me. Condesa is the next block over from the main parking for the MLKJr National Historic Site parking (a short walk from the visitor center), so that makes an a nice combination or a place to reflect afterwards on what you've learned.

Google
10/10, highly recommend. Parking seemed a little questionable but I found a spot about a block away and prayed not to get towed lol. The shop itself is super cute, service was **excellent** and the overall vibe was chill. They had a great DJ the Sunday that I went as well. Even though it was crowded, I found a table easily. When my order was done, the staff brought it out to me, seeing how hard it was to move around. Small menu but reasonably priced. Will definitely be back

Google
Came here on the weekend with my husband and daughter for breakfast. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, 2 lattes, a smoothie, and a muffin. Everything came out warm and fresh and the lattes were great and not overly sweet. Seating inside and outside. Space was open and clean. I believe it was the owner that came out and talked to us and he was a very sweet and friendly gentleman.

Yelp
I love this little place. Condesa has great tea (I do not drink coffee), food, and service. I came here to study and grade papers. My favorite food is the "GRILLED AB&J, which is almond butter and jelly on grilled Alon's bakery sourdough," or the "ADULT GRILLED CHEESE house made herbed goat cheese and fresh mozzarella grilled on Alon's bakery sourdough." (description taken from their website). The teas I like the most are Ginger Line and Moroccan Mint. If you have a dog you ought to can chill on the patio with them.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Atlanta, and I was struck by how warm and welcoming everyone was, especially at this establishment. However, while we were sitting here, something happened that was both disturbing and disheartening. A homeless man entered with money in hand, intending to buy some water. Despite his polite demeanor, the barista--who happened to be a redhead--denied him service. This man was fully clothed, self-sufficient, and not asking for anything beyond the ability to make a purchase. Yet, he was turned away. I found this behavior not only coldhearted but downright disgraceful. Moved by the injustice, I left the establishment to speak with the man and asked what he intended to buy. It should never fall upon a customer to address the wrongs committed by your staff. These people are human beings, deserving of the same respect and dignity as anyone else. It's appalling that such inhumane treatment could occur here. We will not be returning. I strongly urge you to reflect on the importance of treating everyone with the kindness and respect they deserve, especially those who are already facing difficult circumstances.

Yelp
My friends find it funny that I love going to coffee shops even though I don't really like coffee, but I honestly go for the ambience and for a nice place to be out and do some work. With that being said, I've been to this establishment a couple times now, and each time has been great! The staff has always been great, and I was surprised that they go out of their way to bring a dish out to you. My favorite item there has to be the Adult Grilled Cheese.! My most recent visit was actually because I kept dreaming about that grilled cheese. The toast is nice and crispy, and the goat cheese addition is simply genius! A quick note about parking: There is no parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking on the street on the other side of the building (Boulevard street)

Yelp
Terrible customer service! It was very apparent that the black barrista with the baseball cap and with low expressive affect did not enjoy his job. As tourists from California and New Orleans, this is the worst Southern hospitality I've experienced. He was not welcoming and seemed easily annoyed just because I asked for a cup of water and poured it with attitude from the tap. And he definitely was not accommodating or considerate to elderly cutomers by way of his attitude. I do not recommend this cafe at all for anyone visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr National Park.

Yelp
We were visiting Atlanta & needed a place to grab a bite, get a drink, and chill. Condesa coffee popped up as the closest spot. As soon as you opened the door it had the best vibe! I loved the feel of the place. Our server was also really nice too! I definitely loved that they offered dairy free options & some vegan options as well! I got the iced matcha latte with oat milk & it was delicious. Perfect ratio of matcha & milk. We also split the almond butter and fruit preserve sandwich, which was incredible. It was on sourdough and toasted...it was perfect! I HIGHLY recommend checking this coffee shop out if you're in Atlanta. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I used to love coming to this coffee shop but my recent experiences over the past year have not been great. I came to this shop this afternoon with the expectation that it would be a great place to work, but it wasn't. I went to the front and the barista wasn't all that welcoming and the music was some loud 80s kind of music. I literally had to leave cause I couldn't hear myself think. They still have great adult grilled cheeses, tho.

Yelp
My new favorite coffee place in Atlanta. Not so much for the area. But Lattes, espresso, etc. Amazing. The service is good, the atmosphere. Definitely coming back next time in the ATL

Yelp
I'm starting a new job soon so I have been going to random coffee shops to read, and refresh my memory on some things. Today I decided to check out Condesa. I came on a Thursday at around noon, and it wasn't really packed, I stayed until 4 and it never had more then 5 people in it. I ordered an americano and a lox bagel. The Americano was decent, the lox bagel was great! And not like great-for-a-coffee-shop great. Like actually genuinely good. If I got that bagel at a brunch restaurant I would be very happy with it. Chill barista as well. All in all solid coffee shop. I got a decent amount of work done, and it's not too distracting. The only distracting part is homeless people coming in from time to time to get water or use the bathroom. Nothing crazy though. I'll definitely be back! You're welcome.

Yelp
I went to this spot while on a tour... i ordered the sweet tea so I could get it off of my list. It was fresh and affordable. Service could've been better... a guy was just standing there while another was doing all the work. Ambiance was fine, lots of natural light.

Yelp
One of my coffee shop faves in the Atlanta area. I like the proximity to the MLK library & museum. This place is blessedly quiet, dog-friendly and very clean and white with carefully selected art. I like how the shop is on a little rise of a hill - there aren't exactly amazing views, but you do feel like it's a good vantage point. The latte and chai have a very slightly gummy texture. This spot is perfect for a quick, light lunch. Parking looks tight in the neighborhood, but don't lose heart - there is public parking available in the lofts just behind the shop. The baristas here take themselves pretty seriously - they really know their stuff. I hear the place turns into a bar at night with craft cocktails, but I haven't been after dark.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot. Available parking in nearby deck. Not much a coffee drinker but they have many other drinks such as teas and hot chocolate and soft drinks. I have a peanut allergy so there AB&J was a blessing to get rather than making it for myself at home! Inside and outside seating. Down to earth kind of spot. Friendly staff. Stop in if you've the chance!

Yelp
The quality of the coffee here was on point to my coffee snob standards. Why haven't I came here sooner? Things you should know: I. PARKING The street parking situation is a little tricky and the spaces are limited, but hey, it's FREE. Park on John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE. If I find something easier, I'll let you all know. II. SERVICE I was impressed with the barista. A homeless man walked into the coffee shop and he treated him very normal with service. He didn't discriminate and I enjoyed seeing his kindness. III. QUALITY I ordered a black Americano and was impressed with the rich, acidic flavor; it wasn't watered down. IV. CAPACITY Not too busy for a Wednesday afternoon. They closed at 2pm. I wish I could have camped out here later since I was enjoying myself.

Yelp
I ended up here in a disheveled state on a walk home, and this was the first coffee shop I passed. The ambience was nice - quiet with a relaxing soundtrack. Not overly strong on the smells you might get in other coffee shops. There were a few people quietly working. I was greeted at the counter by the most calm and friendly individual I may have ever met. I was only there for an ice water and a plain toasted bagel. Right away they got me a water with a reusable metal straw. I dipped down into one of the comfier chairs and soon out came a toasted bagel on a tin tray. No one paid me much mind after that which I preferred, nursing a bit of a hangover and definitely not looking or feeling my best. I felt absolutely revived after I was able to finish my water and bagel. I can see myself coming back here to do some work and actually try some of their coffee and pastries. But I am Very happy to have found a place that is welcoming for all.

Yelp
Moroccan mint tea and scone was delightful. Great #vibe this morning as I met up with a former coworker to catch up on life. I'll definitely return.

Yelp
Cozy coffee shop, but the lady at the cash register was very rude. I was going to get a chai. They have both dirty chai and masala chai latte. I simply asked her which one was stronger. Some coffee shops have a strong chai especially if it's house made due to the spices they use and how long they brew it. They also put masala chai latte instead of just "chai latte", so I figured maybe there's was different or they put more spices in it. She then proceeded to be rude and condescending. She clearly didn't want to help me at all. The other two people there were nice but wouldn't come here again.
google avatar

Kam M.

Yelp
I've been meaning to stop here to try their coffee for a while but has never really been in the area until today. I heard such good things and was so disappointed to hear that they have stopped serving their coffee flights. So what's a girl to get? Located right off the Boulevard in questionable area but there is a great view of the skyline. The plus side it is near Freedom Pkwy trail. The parking sucks but I was lucky enough to find street parking about a block away. I finally decided on an American with almond milk and caramel. I sat outside on their lovely little patio enjoying the beautiful Saturday morning people watching. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area hopefully they will begin serving their flights again.

Yelp
A cute industrial space in a corner retail spot. Cozy and quite vibes with plenty fo seating for working or drinking or chatting with friends. The pour over was a fantastic portion and the selection was excellent. The drip coffee was super warm and was perfect just on its own.

Yelp
Got the latte and breakfast sandwich. Delicious food, nice vibes, and yummy coffee. I would def recommend it. Breakfast sandwich was the perfect blend of everything with such a nice unique taste.

Yelp
Great coffee!!! Friendly staff. Nice ambience (inside and outside on the patio) but facing a busy throughway.

Yelp
Cute place . Service sucks. Really bad slow, not friendly, im referring to the white guy with the bangs. Wont be back.

Yelp
This is a great coffee shop! Love the vibes, lots of seating so great place to get work done. There's also a parking garage right next door that you can park for free and as long as you want! The barista was very nice. I got the iced shaken espresso and it was so delicious. I would definitely come here again
google avatar

Alesa W.

Yelp
I came in around 9:30 on a Sunday to order coffee. There was only one other customer in the store, and there were ample signs onto front about wearing a mask or pre ordering online. The menu is short and sweet, but has all the basics: espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc. I ordered the mocha, and the person at the register promptly took my order and began making my drink. The mocha was just a hint of chocolate and not overly sweet. I also like that they have onside parking for customers in the attached garage!
google avatar

Yelp
I have to apologize, I knew the coffee shop closed at 4pm however I was using my laptop and the laptop time was on Eastern time zone‍ me thinking it was 3pm took my sweet time getting ready to leave and didn't walk out till 4:16pm then I realized what time it really was . I'm so sorry!!! Thank you for being so polite. I had no idea it was that late.

Yelp
Condesa Coffee is located at the corner of Freedom and Boulevard, next to Taco Cantina. There is parking on the streets or in the garage (on John Wesley Dobbs Ave). It is generally a quiet coffee shop with lots of glass windows (yay natural lighting!), making it a good place to do work. There are outlets by the tables against the windows and near the couches against the walls. Sometimes they have live music outside in the evening hours. They have a good selection of coffee, tea, food, as well as alcoholic beverages. They also have delicious baked goods from Proof Bakery. If you live in the area or come here regularly, don't forget to get a punch card for your purchases!
google avatar

Madelyn G.

Yelp
This review is simply about Condesa's coffee and location, but I plan on writing another one when I try their food! Okay, let's do this. The coffee was awful, it was watery and had a very burnt flavor. Maybe it was what I ordered (Iced vanilla coffee with oatmilk), but that's my go-to order and I've never tried one this bad. However, the service was quick and the price wasn't bad! I think I paid $11 for two iced coffees. Now, I loved the seating inside. It was small, but it wasn't cramped. Its definitely a good place to go get some work done since it wasn't loud and it was super bright and airy. The only other negative I have is parking. You are better off walking here because finding parking would be a struggle.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I honestly can't say anything about the coffee here so this review will probably be useless to most people. Sorry, I don't drink coffee! But I do eat breakfast. So, I have to say that their lox bagel is very good! Generous with the toppings and the lox, perfectly toasted everything bagel. They're also very quick and very friendly. I didn't eat in the store and rather walked home to enjoy my bagel but the place is very nice, filled with light, lots of seating.
google avatar

Nikki J.

Yelp
With indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of parking and some great grab and go or made to order options, Condesa is a good spot to try. I really enjoyed their "mylk", which is a non dairy option of milk. The flavor from the mylk added an additional depth of flavor while not being over powering. It was creamy and not heavy for a nut milk. Also, their home made syrup in the mocha was very delicious. I paired my latte with a lox bagel and it was the perfect breakfast. Perfectly toasted everything bagel with crisp cucumber, cream cheese and the lox itself. I visited this place quite a few times during my short stay in the ATL.
google avatar

Sina G.

Yelp
Overall a nice place to go and mingle with your friend over a nicely brewed cup of coffee or indulge in the cocktail coffee drinks. My favorite here is Cortado with oat milk which is served in different presentations depending on who the barista is! This is also a nice place to take your laptop and work for a few hours as the chairs and the tables are decently spaced out and you can enjoy the street corridor view outside. Pastries and food items are decent but not consistently stocked so sometimes they pretty much run out of most of the items even by noon. Staff could also be more welcoming and interactive especially when they see you regularly!
google avatar

Bethany W.

Yelp
We stopped in here to get some caffeine and were surprised to find they also have adult beverages as well! They have a whole craft cocktail list along with their caffeinated beverages. You can even get a craft cocktail with coffee as one of the ingredients (Bourbon Cowboy) - it was definitely more bourbon heavy than coffee, but still! Love this idea. The shop is small, but very open and bright with full glass windows to open up the atmosphere. The baristas are obviously very passionate about their craft and want to make every drink with skill. They are not the most friendly (no greeting when we walked up), but they are quick to get your order out. Great place to stop in and grab a drink - coffee or otherwise. If you're in the Atlanta area, definitely check out Condesa!

Yelp
I went to Condesa Coffee this past weekend to do a little work with my BF. We order the following: -Drip coffee -Double shot of espresso with vanilla syrup -Croissant -Eggy breakfast toast The eggy breakfast toast had arugula on top and a cheesy taste which i like. The bread was a bit hard so i wish it was softer a bit. The croissant was HUGE so that was cute. My double shot of espresso with vanilla syrup was delicious but I found out that I had to drink it fast in order for it to not go bad. My bf liked his drip coffee. Overall, I think Condesa deserves a 3.5 and I would come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This beautiful coffee spot makes a rich and generous cappuccino. It's got hip tunes, a low key, level-headed staff and a tolerance for folks of all backgrounds. There's this older chap who waters their plants and cares for the outdoor garden, he's also one of those parts of this spot that make it special. I super dig this place and their coffee is delicious.

Yelp
This is the best coffee shop in ATL hands down. Better than my go to Starbucks order! My boyfriend and I was visiting ATL and decided we wanted a sit down coffee shop in the area. We relayed on yelp and didn't mind the drive. I'm so glad we picked this coffee shop. Super easy to find street parking. The place was pretty big but seats were pretty limited since there were a lot of students doing homework or study groups taking place at the time I was there. The cashier/barista was amazing and super helpful. He was so sociable and recommended a handful of places for us to go to even though he was new to the area himself. There wasn't much pastries to choose from on display, but he ended up pulling out a big box of pastries from the back and gave me the option to pick out what he should display. But I called dibs on the cranberry and almond scone I laid my eyes on! I also got the cortado and my boyfriend for the cappuccino. Omg the cortado with some Splenda? AMAZING!!!!!!!! Small but so good! I wanted another one lol but I had to stop myself! I also wanted another one of those scones but I was so sad when he said that was the last one. But also happy because I got the last one and not someone else haha

Yelp
Been here a few times with my friend because it's walking distance of his place. It's pretty good but a little pricey, but still very reasonable I think. It's very trendy. FOOD: I really like that they provide some toast options. It's definitely not a full on brunch, but a good snack or small breakfast. I've had their Beet toast ($6) and their Prosciutto toast ($6.50). I LOVE the Prosciutto toast-- really interesting combination of flavors (honey, pepper, lemon ricotta, and prosciutto) that I never would have put together myself. Combined with the texture of the chewy toast, I was very impressed. The beet toast was a lot less exciting to me, haven't ordered that again. COFFEE: I always just get a drip coffee, black because I'm boring/my dentist has scolded me for sipping on too much sugary drinks, but I've always been happy with the coffee here. AMBIANCE: Great! Lots of windows, nice seating, nice decor. It's got a modern but a little cozy vibe. Nice place to do work or get coffee with a friend. They have some outdoor seating but it's covered-- I prefer the sun, but if it's hot out I bet it's great. SERVICE: Normal. People are usually fairly nice, nothing over the top though in terms of friendliness. OVERALL: I like it! Can't complain about much here.

Yelp
Condesa is the cutest coffeeshop! Modern, glass from head-to-toe, and large tables make this space ideal for studying, reading, or otherwise working. Plants here and there brighten up the space, and there's usually a relaxing soundtrack in the background playing. The only thing is that the space is a little small, fitting no more than ~20 people at a time. The drinks taste decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. My friend ordered a Soy Latte while I ordered a Chai Latte. Warm and sweet yes, but nothing that blew my mind. There aren't many food and drink options. Final Verdict: Drinks: 3/5 Ambience: 4/5 Overall: 3/5 Haiku from IG (@bon_appepoetry): -Soy Latte, Chai Latte- espresso and chai churned milky rich, sipped slowly happiness in mugs

Yelp
We came here on a holiday since the taco place next door we intended on going to was closed. The vibe was modern and quiet,. There were a bunch of people on their laptops. This place has a lot of natural light and thus minimal lighting was used when we were there. In addition to great drinks, this place has a decent food menu of simple, small bites and pastries. We got a chai tea latte and it was delicious, very creamy and well presented. For food, we had the lox and cucumber toast. The bread was so good and there was a decent amount of lox. We also the adult grilled cheese and again the bread was nice and thick and made the sandwich. Lastly, we had the prosciutto toast. The lemon spread was amazing. Unlike anything I had ever had.

Natalie P.

Yelp
This place has quickly become my weekly spot to come in relax and do some work. The vibe in here is so chill and welcoming. I get a cortado and they always make an effort to connect with you. If you're on the fence trying to decide where to go this is your sign!!

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place out, Im originally from Seattle where we have coffee shops on every corner. I saw this on yelp and saw all the wonderful looking toast! Unfortunately I arrived and they had a very limited menu. I asked for the bagel sandwich, but they were out of bagels, then I asked for the lox toast, but they were out of lox. So I ended up getting the almond butter toast with an Iced coffee. The coffee tasted really watered down but the almond butter toast was quite tasty. Really nothing special.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
The place is cute and comfy. The workers are very friendly and nice. It's a great location, compared to many other coffee shops. I just didn't enjoy the coffee. I thought it was too much milk and maybe not enough espresso? Or maybe their espresso beans aren't strong enough.I couldn't taste the coffee, when it came to my vanilla latte.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Condesa was a really nice little spot, there was a lot of street parking around the corner and the oat milk latte I got was great! I tried the eggy toast which was honestly well worth the price because it was a pretty big piece of toast. We didn't have any problems getting a seat but a little after we got there it did get a little busier. Added bonus: they use metal straws!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
This was such a small place that had a lot of people in it. So popularity wise, this place def draws a crowd: student, business-y folks, young adults. Since it was chilly when we visited, the outside tables and chairs weren't used so the inside was cramped. I liked how the menu had a nice breakdown of the ratio of milk to espresso and so forth. Although not every extravagant in their menu selection, their latte was good. The bf seemed to enjoyed his macchiato very much. There seemed to be a couple of parking spaces in the deck for the retail shops with the other spots being for the residences. If these slots are filled, good old street parking is pretty available right beside Condesa.
google avatar

Ha A.

Yelp
I really love this coffee shop, I wish I live closer to it. The coffee here is so good and always consistent. If you prefer the bold and bitter taste of darker roast, this is the place for you. The Batista here could do some impressive latte art for your instagram picture. Speaking of IG, the loft style interior is also very nice and hipster. High ceiling with dark wood tables, perfect backdrop for that latte shot ;) Another reason why I love this place is that they have little cute pots of succulent everywhere

Yelp
Condesa is best, in my opinion, if you want to get your morning started off right. This cafe is nice and quiet, with plenty of seating and ample natural light. The baristas are very nice and it's refreshing to be in a coffee shop that is this quiet. The coffee is good and I enjoyed their small plate options. I know that this place probably looks a lot different in the late afternoon/early evening due to happy hour, but with my experience, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's nice to sit in a coffee shop when, looking out the window, you see constant moving on the busy streets. Parking is available at a parking garage near the coffee shop. I would say, if quiet shops are not for you, you might feel uncomfortable - however, I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Strong coffee and delicious food (I love the breakfast sandwich with soft scrambled eggs and sun dried tomatoes)

Yelp
Nice coffee shop just a short walk away from the King center. They offer a variety of coffee, iced tea, and beer/cocktail options. A great place to cool down, get caffeinated and get some work done after walking in the summer heat. There are street parking spots around the area, and the kind center offers free parking for visitors. But the area usually have lots of traffic.

In my quests to venture out & explore more of Atl I stumbled across Condesa Coffee shop. The first thing that was a hassle was parking they have a small shopping area parking garage but I'm sure it only fits about 14 cars. There is street parking but keep your eyes on those streets signs or end up with a boot on your car. I still ended up parking on the street it was a little further but in a safe area. It's a nice little coffee shop, a little more noise than you would find at Starbucks but mostly due to the music that was blasting from the speakers there. Not the ideal study place if you need coffee & some quiet but to each it's own. I ordered a croissant & one of the few alcoholic coffee drinks they offered (I don't recall the name but it was the only one with espresso in it) The drink wasn't really good, I didn't enjoy it much it was bitter af. The croissant was huge which was fine but they had nothing to go with it, not a single condiment so just a big croissant. I got to try some of their grilled cheese sandwich & that was actually pretty good.

Yelp
This place is a cute little hangout, this place is right in the heart of the city so parking can be a little challenging. Luckily for me, I didn't have to circle long to find a spot. I went on a Saturday and the place was packed. I found a spot to sit down and enjoyed a latte and some conversation. Now you are going to be a little closer - tighter than normal to your neighbors but as long as you don't mind you can sit back and enjoy a cup of Joe or something stronger and enjoy the day. I'd come back again sometime.

Yelp
By far the best coffee I've tasted at a coffee shop! Definitely will be my og coffee shop when visiting Atalanta.
