On the Grid : Condesa Coffee

"Condesa Coffee is a special place for its coffee, but also for the building it's located in on Auburn Avenue. This building was once the site of the Daily World Newspaper, the oldest and continuously running African American Newspaper in American history. The newspaper's office moved to the suburbs after the 2008 tornado hit Atlanta and almost destroyed the building. Today, it houses hip spots like Condesa. Go check it out! The art is fab and so are the waffles!" - Flags of Origin

These Are Atlanta’s Essential Coffee Shops

"Billed as an “industrial-modern espresso bar,” this Old Fourth Ward coffee shop also offer pastries and bagels from Alon’s in the morning, with grilled sandwiches later in the day." - Beth McKibben, Sarra Sedghi

"Sipping Coffee and Cocktails on Freedom Parkway This Freedom Parkway coffee shop is for early birds and night owls alike, serving up Counter Culture coffee every morning at 7 am and switching to cocktails and beer at 5 pm. Condesa has a rotating selection of craft beer, wine and unique cocktails. Try the Nixon Was a Russian, which incorporates both espresso and vodka. Condesa also serves small bites and sandwiches if you're spending the afternoon there with your laptop. They also sell breakfast items and pastries from Alon's Bakery."

The Second Location of Refuge Coffee Is Open in Sweet Auburn’s Daily World Building on Auburn Avenue, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Having closed at the end of December, Condesa Coffee emphasized a passion for details: the details of a perfect shot of espresso from Cauca, Colombia; a Kenyan pourover described as intensely bold; a classic cocktail done the right way; and their homemade chocolate syrup." - Beth McKibben

Clarkston Coffee Shop Refuge Coffee Is Opening at Atlanta Daily World Building Replacing Condesa Coffee on Auburn Avenue, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"I’ve seen Condesa Coffee, founded by Georgia Tech graduates Daniela Staiculescu, Amin Rida, Moe Reda, and Octavian Stan, open in Sweet Auburn five years ago after finding success with its original shop on the corner of Boulevard and Freedom Parkway. The owners were credited with contributing to neighborhood revitalization, but the Sweet Auburn shop will close at the end of December while the Old Fourth Ward location has no plans to close. Condesa emphasizes craft and attention to detail—“the details of a perfect shot of espresso from Cauca, Columbia, a Kenyan pourover that’ll put hair on your chest, a classic cocktail done the right way, or simply our homemade chocolate syrup” are central to its approach." - Beth McKibben
