12 Best Markets in Mexico City for All Your Souvenirs | Condé Nast Traveler

"Every Tuesday, three small blocks of side streets in west Condesa are blocked off to traffic for a fun little farmers' market (called Tianguis de Condesa, Martes, in Spanish). Because of its location, things tend to be more expensive, but there's a wide array of stalls to choose from for meat, fruit, and vegetables. Look for the older indigenous women on the outskirts of the market; they often grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables, while the other vendors pull from commercial distribution. Among these stalls you'll find beautiful wild mushrooms, farm fresh eggs, avocados, and wild greens." - Scarlett Lindeman, Lauren Stroh

Great place to walk around and get fresh fruit

This is a great market to visit if you are just visiting the area (lots of very fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and candies), but beware if you aren’t good at the art of haggling… I was charged 30 pesos for a very small amount of grapes and 90 pesos for this small bag of cashews. I don’t like to haggle so I paid full price 😞 I’m sure someone with better negotiating skills could get better prices!

Make a stop here on any Tuesday from about 9am to 4 to have a true local market experience. Contact me if you want a guide!

It was so interesting with lots of variety. I enjoyed seeing many beautiful displays.

This place is just plain lovely. Tacos, fresh flowers, produce, and juices were all absolute necessities for my family when we lived nearby. Knuckleheads will pay knucklehead taxes, but I’m all for that.

Charging gringo prices because they can. Go for the convenience and nothing else.

I bought fruit from a tall and sturdy salesman, he showed me a very good mamey but when he packed it he changed it for a spoiled one. In general it is an assorted but expensive tianguis, they take advantage in price according to the appearance they see you.
