Condor Cycles

I love my new Condor. Ever since I worked around the corner in Farringdon a number of years ago I always wanted to own a Condor bike. Wind the clock on ten plus years and I finally pulled the trigger on this beautiful Condor Tempo steel singlespeed as I wanted a bike to train on in the winter months. It rides like an absolute dream and the build quality is exceptional. It’s the ultimate purist road bike. I don’t live in London anymore so did everything over the phone and it was a breeze. Julian was incredibly helpful (and very good humoured) throughout the buying process and even though it was an expensive purchase by modern road bike standards (it has no gears), I feel like I’ve got a wonderful machine that will last me many years. Cant wait for my first 50k.

I had a wonderful experience getting my electric Brompton checked and serviced here. I cannot speak highly enough of Jaz: he was really helpful, explained everything to me and worked super fast. Communication prior to and after the appointment was also great. I will definitely be using this shop for all my future requirements.

Went to Condor for a bike fit earlier this week. James was amazing, he clearly understood all the issues and took his time to work with me to solve all of them one by one. He was so professional and I felt so listened to. Any female cyclists considering a bike fit, mine at Condor was brilliant and I would definitely recommend. The bike is now perfect for me and this bike fit at Condor changed the game. Thank you James!

Top class service from start to finish. Had an issue with my electric Brompton, called them up, booked it into Condor and dropped it off on the way into work. By mid morning I received a call saying that all works completed and I collected my bike at lunchtime. Helpful and efficient communications throughout, and they went above and beyond with the works to repair my bike. Very pleased I decided to take my bike into condor and I will continue to use them for all my bicycle requirements.

Service is brilliant at Condor Cycles. I recently bought a Brompton there and Jaz was very patient showing me the folding mechanism and letting me practise. Then when I picked it up he showed me again and offered really practical tips on any upgrades and the type of bag to get - no hard sell. When I lost my phone holder, I emailed on the train down to work, they responded instantly and i went via the shop on the way to work and they put a quad lock on my handlebars there and then. Can’t fault them and would highly recommend.

Condor Bike Shop were really helpful on the phone. I took my bike in for servicing at 10am, and it was ready by 3pm. It now looks and rides like new -excellent work! Thank you

Had a steerer tube top cap issue whilst on a ride, went to Condors to look for some help and advice. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and kind. Fish, the mechanic (He told me his name is Fish!) did a fantastic job and helped me remove my old steerer tube expander and install a fresh one. Really appreciate their help. Absolutely visit them, one of the best bike shops in London for sure!

Cannot recommend Condor Bicycles highly enough! I have used them several times now and the team at Condor are the most pragmatic and lovely guys. They never try to sell you something or replace parts that don’t actually need replacing, which I truly appreciate, not only to keep costs down, but also for the sake of the environment. I recently had my Brompton in for a service, along with a couple of smaller issues I wanted them to check out (brake adjustment, saddle clamp loosening). They did an absolutely wonderful job. It rides 'like butter' now, and I loved their enthusiasm when they discovered just how old it actually is. I am certain I will be back again!

Despite an encyclopedic range of cycling products, and extremely knowledgeable staff, Condor seem to be getting something wrong. Unlike the friendly nature of other bike shops in the city, this mecca for the cycling enthusiast manages to put you off the moment you walk in the shop. Whether it's to buy a new inner tube or shell out a couple of large on a new bike, the staff treat visitors other than their mates with a disdain only seen in the finest of club queues. However, if you're looking for something specific or rare, this really is the place to go - just be prepared for a slightly galling experience, both when you speak to the apish people behind the counter and when you see your credit card receipt.

A great cycle shop, possibly one of the best, beautiful bikes and clothing - it's very pricey. Yet I agree with other reviewers. Staff here need to get real! They ponce around as if they know more than Lance Armstrong or Chris Hoy put together. Peer disdainfully at your ride if it's not worth more than 4000 pounds. Actually, they would probably still frown upon a 8000 pound bike, because the front brake lever or some other component is not made out of carbon! So it would be okay then if the staff treated you with friendly honest service. They should all go on a trip to America and see the meaning of customer service! I'm off to wiggle my saddle elsewhere.

A bicycle shop that caters for SERIOUS CYCLISTS. And by "SERIOUS CYCLISTS" I mean road cyclists who like to wear fluorescent jerseys and spandex and who would scoff at anyone cycling with flat-bars. Oh, and ladies. Expect to see lots of Rapha and merino wool clothes. Racing accessories. A few urban cycling bits from Swrve. But not much for women. Or anyone who isn't a roadie. Nice, nonetheless.

A great cycle shop with genuinely helpful staff, who will actually offer advice even to stupid questions, rather than the typical bike shop employee who would rather glower from the corner, avoiding eye contact and sniggering every time you look confused when trying to work out what some unfathomable piece of twisted metal might do... The range of stuff on sale here is amazing, they always seem to have exactly what I am looking for at a fair price. The shop is well laid out and if you can't find exactly what you are looking for the staff are always on hand to point you in the right direction. They lose one star for 2 reasons... 1. No online shop, 2. They were once in the process of closing as I rolled my punctured bike up to the shop through torrential rain to purchase a puncture repair kit/inner tube and they locked the doors when I was about 2 meters away... Bastards...

Currently undergoing a refurb Condor is under a state of disruption. However, it has always had one of the best stocks in London. All the components, most of the clothing (an extensive Rapha store included) and staff who when they are not being standoff-ish are knowledgable and grudgingly helpful

Condor Cycles sells everything you could ever want, as long as it is bike related. Downstairs it stocks a range of bikes for every type of cyclist. They even make their own range of bespoke bikes, which are popular among cycle couriers, who I would imagine know their stuff. Upstairs has an array of accessories from locks to leggings. All of the top brands are represented, which means that this shop doesn't come cheap, but is well worth checking out during the sales. If cost is not a problem, then I would suggest this shop for its convenience, expertise and range.

Great independent bike shop, with knowledgable staff who go the extra effort to help. I have been in here a number of times now, and it is the best cycle shop in London that I have used to get things like clothing, bags, tyres, brake pads etc. Every time, they have provided excellent customer service and if someone is not sure about something they will make sure they find out for you. They make their own bikes, which are delightful, and definitely something I would be looking to buy in the future. I have yet to try out their servicing/workshop as when I asked if they could fit some new brakes for me, they said it would be a 2 week wait - my local bike shop did it on the spot. So, for buying bikes and kit, I go here every time. For servicing, I would try your local friendly independent bike shop, whatever that may be. They also do a 10% (or around that mark) CTC discount on everything.

I've been cycling around London for over 15 years and Condor cycles is in my opinion the best cycle shop in town. The service Is second to none, they have some of the best mechanics in the industry, today they managed to fix my crankset and I swear I was concinved I'd had to end up buying a new one, thank you guys!! Also the variety and quality of the products they sell is outstanding. Without a doubt 5 big stars.

Walked in this morning to get my brakes looked at and the wonderful man who helped me not only sorted out my brakes but the whole bike there and then. My cycle to work couldn't have been smoother or safer. Will definitely only be going to Condor Cycles for anything to do with my bike and couldn't recommend it more for others to do the same.

This shop definitely has an ultra-serious vibe, since many get custom made bikes here. But don't let that stop you from buying an off-the-rack bike from these folks. My fit was perfect. The follow-up service is excellent-- they always fit me in, no matter how busy, and rarely charge me. Never try to sell what I don't need. Good selection of shoes, helmets, gloves, and locks. Women's clothing selection is really limited, though.

Love these guys, always busy but no B.S. They boxed my bike (cargo) for an international trip & they did a great job.

Julian, the bike fitter/new bike adviser, provide excellent - knowledgeable, curated and efficient - service to help me choose a bike that I'm very excited with because it's the right cost, designed exactly for my needs and set up exactly for my body shape.

After trying dozens of bike shops in several cities I was ecstatic to find a place where the staff actually know what their talking about and actually care about cycling. In my experience most staff in most shops all have the same level of experience and expertise - and that is of someone who doesn't care at all about bikes and is just doing the job for a bit of cash until they get another job. Whereas at Condor you can ask ANY QUESTION and they will know the answer, they don't care about making you spend money - they just care about bikes. They won't tell you your bike is 'too old, just buy a new one' because they can't work out how to fix it. They won't sell you some cheap rubbish that won't last a few months. I bought a bike here and it's relatively cheap - cheaper than a lot of bikes you get in the commercial chains. Steel frame and campag groupings, it will last me decades easily. For the same money, some mass produced, overpriced tac would barely last years - and that's how they make their money - they make you come back again and again. So the initial cost of a bike from Condor might be more than a few other shops, but the overall amount of money you will spend on bikes in your lifetime will be a fraction, and the time you spend in and out of bike shops and leaving your bike in for repairs will also be a fraction. When I buy something, I just want it to work, no faff, no effort, just work - that's what you will get from Condor.

Definitely one of the best independent bike shops in London. A relative of mine recommended I go there if I wanted to get the bike that best fits me and my needs. I did and I don't regret a thing. The minute I crossed the door I knew I was going to leave with a bike. The staff made a great effort to help me with my choice and due to their vast knowledge excellent judgement I was able to find a bike that far exceeded my expectations but not my budget. Moreover they offer topnotch repair services which is really useful.

Independent retailers are increasingly hard to find, so when you find one, you need to rave about it to make sure it's not killed off by our mass-consumer society. Fortunately, Condor Cycles have been going strong for many decades now and if my experience there is consistent with all customers, it's not going away any time soon. This place is a mecca for cyclists, with one of the most comprehensive stocks I have seen anywhere in the world. The selection of accessories and clothing is very deep, with all the normal brands represented, as well as the excellent UK brand Rapha. In the basement can be found a selection of mid- to high-end commercial bikes, as well as their drool-worthy own brand Condor road bikes. Should you need advice on anything in the store, the staff are total enthusiasts, with an enviable level of knowledge on every aspect of cycling you can imagine. Stop is for a puncture repair kit or the racing bike of your dreams, it's worth it.

I bought a long drop front brake from them for £17.50 in February 2013 after the spring on my old one went on a ride home from work. I needed a quick fix and so i just picked the new one up straight away. It worked fine for the first 6-8 weeks but the quick release mechanism seized after that. It meant that when i pulled on the brake lever the quick release undid itself and i therefore had no mechanical leverage on the rims and the pads only gently pressed against them; not ideal when going down haverstock hill!! I went into Condor expecting them to replace or refund the brake as it clearly had not lasted nearly long enough. They were very patronizing and condescending and stated that my bike was dirty and old and therefore they would assume that i had not looked after the brake and it had prematurely aged as a result. They advocated i disassembled the brake regularly (which i do but it didn't look like it needed a service as it was brand new). I said i purposefully rode a vintage frame and didnt clean the spray off it to deter thieves. I have full length mud guards so the brake was as protected as it could be and i lock it up inside at night time. They wouldnt budge and basically i can only assume that because i ride a beater and not one of their over priced off the shelf bikes that is serviced by them at great expense they were not interested. I actually regularly service my bike at the london bike kitchen and recently built up some new wheels. the bike is worth over 500 quid and has good components. AVOID buying things from condor as judging by the cheap soft aluminium they make their home brand brakes from i cant imagine their complete builds are made from anything better, they are rip off merchants!
