"There’s also another Tulsa staple that I have to mention, because I’d probably get kicked out of town if I didn’t: Coney Island, a coney place. It’s legendary. It’s Wes Studi’s favorite restaurant." - Monica Burton

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re looking for a taste of nostalgia, Coney I-Lander serves up the most incredible chili cheese fries in Tulsa! One bite, and it feels like stepping straight into the 1950s—simple, classic, and absolutely delicious. The chili has that perfect blend of spices, the cheese melts just right, and the crispy fries hold up under all that flavor without getting soggy. It’s the kind of old-school comfort food that keeps you coming back. Pair it with their famous coneys, and you’ve got a meal that’s pure Tulsa tradition. Highly recommend!

Restaurant Review: Coney Island – Tulsa, OK Stopped by Coney Island in Tulsa, OK, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience. The hot dog was much smaller than the bun, which left me still feeling hungry. But the biggest issue? The gentleman preparing the food went straight from handling the register to making the food—without gloves. That’s a major sanitation concern. For a spot that’s been around for a while, I expected better quality and cleanliness. Would I go back? Probably not. ⭐ Rating: 2/5 Have you been here before? What was your experience like? #FoodReview #TulsaEats #ConeyIslandTulsa

Why can't every place be this accurate. This is a business model for all food places. The online ordering had a $0 fee for pickup! The online ordering had modifications for me to add or remove as I pleased. I love the extra cheese option! The chili is JUST RIGHT for the entire family . It came with the right condiments - hot sauce and hot pepper powder 🌶️ ✅ The perfect portions. Not too small, not too large. Myself and my two kids ordered the 3 coney platter (each got one), split a large Frito pie 3 ways, and split the larger tamale meal 3 ways!!! We were able to get a little of all - we will absolutely be back.

Wife and i walked here from our hotel it’s affordable with specials like 2 dogs or 3 dogs with chips drink. It was okay, we didn’t care for the chili.

I will never eat or order from here again. I got my order and the chili had uncooked meat in it. I called them to tell them and was hung up not once but twice on. I asked the guys for a Manager he said he was the manager and said his boss wouldn’t be back until almost 3 weeks. This is unacceptable!

Love making having random lunches with family here, but the music or ambiance could be little better even when it's not busy. Friendly curious staff, good hotdogs.

Google
Best Coney Ilander left the one on Peoria is good also bit I think this one might be better. We came for lunch because we were downtown and we actually didn't know it was here we usually go to the Peoria store. What a find! Love the original Coney Ilanders. It was just over $20 I had 3 with everything my husband had 4 and a bag of chips and we both had drinks. This was our second trip back in a month. It was exactly as delicious as the first time!

Yelp
Quick, friendly, no frills fast food spot for Tulsa's famous coneys, aka their version of a chili cheese dog. We got 3 coneys and fries. The hot dog bun was thick and soft, hot dog a bit small and more of a focus on the chili. I thought it was just OK but glad I got to try a local favorite. The fried also felt a bit underfried but not bad. Give it a try; I always find it fun to check out local faves! Cool interior with school desks for seats.

Yelp
I have visited this place since I was a kid (my mom grew up in Tulsa and she also has visited since she was a kid). I loved their previous places - one was next to a bar with cool old glass bricks. The school desks have been a fixture, no matter where their location has been. These are cool but the average adult may be too big for them. The location on Boulder now has regular chairs and counter seats. As with all food places (restaurant, grocery stores, etc) prices have increased. Their 3 coney and drink special is now over $8. They now offer different specials - like 2 coneys, chips and a drink. They also offer tamales, frito chili pie, chili fries, chili spaghetti, and of course, chili to-go! Back at their small location, I saw a customer bring in a rectangle tupperware container and order about 10 coneys to take home. Their chili is similar to Cincinatti chili (fine grind (no chunks) with a hint of cinnamon or chocolate) and their cheese is also very fine (more crumbled than shreds)

Yelp
They make real good stuff Chili, Frito Pies, 3-way Some other stuff I can't remember

Yelp
A Tulsa Tradition!!! This Coney Island was the first to the Tulsa scene opening January 8th 1926 at the original location at 311 s. Boston. These coneys are what you expect them to be. Great service and food. This Coney Island now has an old school feel with desks to eat inside or a few regular tables. Fun place to eat and enjoy a little Tulsa history! Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Cleanliness: 7/10 Atmosphere: 8/10

Yelp
Ultimately, staff were cool but the food was blah. I wanted to like this place but it just wasn't good. I sat in the parking lot working prior to going into this spot. People came in groves, as a small rush happen right around 2pm. I finally went in around 4pm- at time where it appeared to be notoriously slow for the establishment. The place smelled like Fabuloso. No one was in the sitting area and the cashier came from the back about 2 minutes after I arrived. Fries were dropped fresh while coney was being made. I'm thinking since he was able to make my coney so quickly, he pulled my fries up a tad bit too early to ensure I ate those with my coneys. Nice of him but the fries were too undercooked. The chili on the coney had an unusual taste to it. I just couldn't quite enjoy it like I wanted to. To top it off, the ketchup was served cold. I think next time I'll just stick with sonic or make them myself.

Yelp
Old school coney Island hot dogs with fries a rootbeer float! Makes life grand! Nice lunch stop!

Yelp
Fresh & delicious coneys everything time!! Facility very clean. Friendly & accommodating staff.

Jason B.

Yelp
Since I was old enough to remember this place we have been coming to this very special Tulsa institution. It's doors opened in 1926 and they still to this day use the same flat top. If your in T-Town this is a cool place to stop for some coneys or frito chili pie I'm the old school chairs and remanence on days long gone. Tons of nostalgia here for the older crowd for their childhood memories as well. AAA+++

Christina Y.

Yelp
We got the cheese special and the 3 tamales with chili and cheese. The chili is delicious, meaty with a hint of cinnamon (reminded me slightly of Cincinnati chili). Large portions for a fair price. Would definitely go back!

J A.

Yelp
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE 3 hotdogs and a drink will run you about 6.25 and you will be satisfied with your purchase to no end. They've moved several times since I've been a customer but now they are in a big nice place right next to mexacali with lots of parking and lots of seating. The wonderful lady that has ran the register forever is still there and just as sweet as ever. Even gave me a hug even though it's been three years since I've been there. I'm very happy to see them in a nice place but I was told that lost a lot of business by moving over there. So you guys that are lucky enough to be in Tulsa need to make sure you go there as much as possible so they keep doing great! And by the way, I'm jealous of you all for having access to the greatest coneys ever.

Judith M.

Yelp
Let me you straight about this Coney Island- this here is your Coney Islander hotdog Tulsa style. This is not a Chicago dog. This is not about a bunch of fancy toppings and some kind designer bun loader w bespoke hipster happy meat curated by a bearded gentleman who names all of his own livestock. This is the old school. The original. The one and only. It is a steamed bun and a slow grilled very small dog with simple , straightforward mustard and onions hot dog. It is not a charred sausage that "snaps in your teeth" where you get that crazy idea, John H.? This is intended to be a tender morsel, dripping slightly spicy chili in a white bun. As has been reference by previous Yelpers this place has been around for a long time. 1926. I've been coming here since probably around 1975 when my sister and I would stop in on our way to the library and make "suicides" which is what you call it when you let kids self serve and they mix every single kind of soda available at the fountain. Delicious with Frito pie, which is also perfect here. Full circle from my vegetarian and organic produce phases I came straight back to this place. I eat here every time I'm in town because I respect what they do: This dog. This bun. This chili. It is all perfect. The special - 3 chili dogs and a "free" drink for 6$- will fix almost any hangover. And yes, they have a bathroom for paying customers, because this corridor of gentrification also shares a lot of traffic with the local jail and homeless shelter. The bathroom, like the rest of this joint, is utilitarian and spotless.

Jenn S.

Yelp
Not a fan. Seems to be hyped up mostly by locals... None of the ingredients are quality. When I saw the hot dog and bun I thought to myself "oh the chili must be killer then." Wrong! It was tasteless and looked more like something I would feed my dog. Also, the cheese is powdered and not real either. Pay a little more and go get yourself a decent meal.

Gary M.

Yelp
this was my second visit. first visit, i had 3 coneys & they were super good. perfect amount of chili & cheese, as i recommend to top it off with the seasoning they have in-store. also, i top mine off with hot sauce as well. yes, your insides might burn, yet it's worth it. the second visit, they came out with the cheesy chili fries so that's what i went with just to try something different. just like the coneys, the fries were good as well. now with the fries, they give you more chili & cheese than they do on the fries. i also top it off with the seasoning & hot sauce & i was FULL. during both visits, the employees were generous & attentive. very nice & welcoming. they're in a prime location right across from a hotel & bars. they have more to choose from other than the two options i ordered, go check them out! p.s. try the jalapeno juice on the food as well. highly recommended!

Yelp
Just wow. Rarely is something better than how you remembered it but came into town from Los Angeles to visit family and remembered my grandpa would take me downtown for coneys in Tulsa. The place may have moved but is the exact same. I swear I recognized some of the employees from over 25 years ago. Best coneys I've ever had in my life. Simple as that. Look at these things!

Jamie B.

Yelp
The best coneys!! We don't go anywhere else. My dad started taking me here 25 years ago and we still go all the time.

Zachary W.

Yelp
It's always a shame when they close down and have to relocate, but it's always a joy when they re-open. This new location is probably the best. Roomier than previous establishments, with the majority of seating being the old school desks, but this time there's a large communal table and some seating along a wall. Prices are still the same. The workers are still friendly. Added bonus is that they no longer charge for drink refills. Always good for a quick lunch, snack, and now readily available after some Brady District/Guthrie green fun.

Bill W.

Yelp
Stopped in for a chili cheese dog. It was a chili cheese dog. But a great value. Friendly cashier and they were cleaning while I was there. Interesting atmosphere. Especially if it was at full capacity.

Bill H.

Yelp
A Tulsa tradition since 1926! My grandfather brought my dad here, my dad brought me here, and I've brought my nieces and nephews here. It's deliciously consistent every time. 3 way chili, tamales, or hot wieners....you can't go wrong with anything.

R H.

Yelp
Great! What else does one need in life than a good Coney Dog? Tamales, maybe a Frito Pie? This place delivers exactly what you want and need when you come in. A great option for before a show or event. And beer sales! Love it, love it, love it! Chili is good, but a little bland. I will be back 10000000 times

Mo H.

Yelp
Hands down the bomb. I've been a loyal customer since my grandfather introduced me as a little lad. That's about 18 years of eating these perfect sized coneys with their secret chili sauce and delicious cayenne pepper (optional). The new location is their biggest and nicest upgrade throughout the years. I applaud this family for keeping it going and keeping the originality. The hype is worth the trip.

Ravyn D.

Yelp
Coney Island is one my family's all time favorite places to stop in Tulsa, OK. They have fast service, clean restrooms, and good old-fashioned hot dogs that have been served for 89 years. You have a choice of topping your hotdog with chili, mustard, onion, or all three. If you are not feeling a hotdog, a Frito pie or a root-beer float is also available. The best thing about the Coneys is the small size, making it easy to have two or three and be perfectly full without exploding. The new venue is nice. Seating is individual, old, classroom style chairs and there is not a place for a huge family to sit around a table. See you again, Coney Island!

Lenny F.

Yelp
Between the two of us we got 8 mustard, chili and cheese. My first time at the location. Atmosphere was good. Very clean and the food is just pure greatness. I usually eat at the one across from TU on 11th. But we were downtown and decided to stop. Free drinks with the coneys is once again pure greatness. Will go back.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Meh. That's about all I have to say about this place. We didn't want a "sit down" meal and just something quick and now our trip will forever be known as "remember when we had the crap hot dogs?" 3 tiny hot dogs, weiners that weren't even grilled (which honestly would have saved them), grated cheese (not shredded) and room temperature chili that didn't even look appetizing. Nooo thanks. The root beer float was good, the rest, not so much.

Luke W.

Yelp
To be clear, this is a hot dog stand, inside of a building. This is not a fancy restaurant, or a place to get a meal with all the fixins', this is hot dogs. You can tell this place has been around for ages, it's got that old school b&w photograph plastered wall look/feel. The guy you see in those photos from 1960 something? He's serving you your hot dog now. Same dude. The hot dogs are small, about half the diameter of a ball park hot dog, and about the same length. They are usually served/eaten as a trio. Three dogs, covered in chili, cheese, and onions. Get them. It's only $6! Very friendly staff, very clean, and it's super quick and easy. I walked in, ordered, paid, and was sat down eating in under 4 minutes. The hot dogs are really simply good. Good flavor and the topping distribution was perfect, from tip to toe. The cool school desk seating is fun, and there is plenty of air circulating to keep you cool from the heat. I'd happily come here again for a mid-day snack (I wouldn't call it a full meal) but it'll do well to more than tide you over until the next one. This is simple, classic, American. Hot dogs. Love it.

Alex F.

Yelp
Take me back to Tulsa for another Coney! No matter the location (main ,boston, behind prime) folks who know whats up will gravitate to the center of the universe aka the new islander. They also serve beer at this locatiom amd drinks are included.

Christopher L.

Yelp
This is one of the best memories from my childhood - and as I approach 50 years old and been gone from Tulsa for more than 25 years - I literally fly in just to have these. Nothing else like it - and I've tried them all...live in New York - been to Cincinnati -- nothing compares

John H.

Yelp
If you are use to real coneys, the kind where the skin of the hotdog snaps when your teeth bite into the hotdog, this is not the Coney Island for you. I thought I had found my favorite Coney in Tulsa all the way up until my first bite. When you walk in there are old school desks. You know the kind; the ones where the desktop is connected to the chair itself. All the seats are facing forward and it was busy enough to make me feel like I was on to something. The menu was simple. For me, I knew I wanted coneys and there were only 2 options on the menu. With or without cheese is the choice. I ordered with of course. Both options included a "free drink" for less than $6.00. I filled my Pepsi and say down excited for what I was certain would add another layer to my Tulsa dining experience, what happened next left me underwhelmed and severely disappointed. Expecting the snap of a firm hot dog covered in chili, cheese, and onions... nothing. I looked at my sandwich only to see a pale, white, limp hot dog. It looked water logged and could have easily been traded for a thin Bar-S brand hot dog boiled in water. I finished my three coneys as they didn't taste bad, however this will be the only time I ever come here. I'm beginning to wonder if an authentic coney is nothing but a dream this far south and inland. This place would be excellent based on atmosphere, location, and simplicity... if only the main attraction would have showed up. Overall disappointing.

Bridget B.

Yelp
This place is awesome. School desk seating and cafeteria line ordering, it is nostalgia if I ever felt it. The hot dogs are great and what you expect out of a coney, my only fault is they use cheese dots. Think dots ice cream but smaller and made out of cheese. This isn't all bad, it just seems to have a slightly different texture that isn't as appealing as shredded cheddar. Really good though and awesome location.

Lance L.

Yelp
This is my favorite lunch in Tulsa. I would eat here every other day if I worked closer. The coneys are the best I've had anywhere and this restaurant is Tulsa tradition at it's finest.

Leah F.

Yelp
Customers leave if you have staff arguing loudly behind the line for all to witness. It appeared to be family members. Very unprofessional and uncomfortable. The men in front of me in line did just that. If I had not been pressed for time, I would have as well. The other staff members seemed unconcerned as if this was normal. The food was not as good as it was at the old location. Sad, because I used to really love it.

Kim M.

Yelp
Yuck. Their motto, "Hot Weiners", was the best part of our visit. The weiners were tiny, barely grilled, they were NOT hot, had grated cheese instead of shredded or melted, the chili was blah and cold. Why is this place popular?

Chris H.

Yelp
I always frequented their previous two locations over the past 15 years, and I finally made it over across the bridge to the current location. As good as always!! Hard to beat the three cheese special with a free drink. The new location has a lot of space inside, and glad they still have the old school desks to eat at. When you're in the mood for coneys, it doesn't get much better than this spot.

Mrsj J.

Yelp
Awesome....loved this place since I was a kid and my husband is from California and loves this place as well. It is the bomb.

Matthew I.

Yelp
We eat here fairly often for lunch. Good food, good prices in a fun environment. If you're in or around downtown Tulsa and you need to grab a quick bite, I highly recommend it.

Mark F.

Yelp
I understand that Coney Island has been around forever, and with good reason. Excellent wieners, with great chili and onions. It's quick, good, and inexpensive. I'd drop by for a quick eat anytime. If you're from the east coast and know N.Y. System wieners, you'll feel right at home here.

Mike S.

Yelp
I have been coming to Coney Island for around 45 years. I like the new location and you still get that old school feel. Employees are always courteous and the cashier is very friendly. We've become good friends since I have been going there. This Coney Island is what sets it apart from the others. No turn over of employees here. You can always expect the same consistent service and quality food.

Steve S.

Yelp
Stale chewy buns, cooking hot dogs on a home griddle, and below average chili. Not impressed at all. One and done, not worth another visit.

Jake A.

Yelp
Great Coneys...chili, cheese, onions, mustard. Unique atmosphere with school desk seating...fun. Love it!

Danica B.

Yelp
Good hotdog! Smaller than expected. Definitely go for the special. You can eat 3. I recommend Coney Island!

Brando J.

Yelp
Outstanding dogs and chili. I order mine with everything and my order was fastly assembled and just like I ordered it. The staff was very friendly and really went out of there way to make us feel welcomed I will be revisiting in the near future.

Lewis H.

Yelp
I have to agree with John H, I expected a hot dog, this was not. Staff was ok, the seats, whatever.

Duncan M.

Yelp
I love this place! I remember when my dad first brought my brother and me to the old location 54 years go. There was something magical about it, from standing in line on the sidewalk outside watching them make the coneys to sitting in the old school desks underneath slowly spinning ceiling fans. They didn't offer cheese back then, so I still get the original with mustard, chili and onions on a steamed bun. Yum! Three is a nice snack, six is a pretty good little meal. The most I ever ate in one sitting (in 1969) was 15. The guy behind the counter said that wasn't even close to the record. I now live 130 miles from Tulsa, but have been known to make a 260 quick round trip for the sole purpose of grabbing some Tulsa coneys. Recently, I have met several people, also originally from the Tulsa area, who make coney runs as well. We decided one of these nice fall Saturdays, we're going to get together and make a run to Tulsa for coneys. To those leaving bad reviews: Go away. When you start talking "snap," it's obvious that you watch too much Food Channel and are trying WAAAY to hard to sound sophisticated. My guess is that you always pour your Old Milwaukee into a pilsner glass so you can whiff the floral bouquet of the hops and comment on the lacing on the side of the glass.
