The 33 Best Restaurants in Zurich, Switzerland | Eater

"There are many excellent chocolatiers in Zurich, but when in doubt, head to Sprüngli. The well-established brand has locations on seemingly every corner. The chocolate is great, but if you need a break from chocolate, try one of the macaroons, which are slightly larger than a fingernail and packed full of flavor." - N.A. Mansour

"Paradeplatz's Chocolate Heaven There are 14 outposts of the famed chocolate shop in and around town, but the one to go to is its flagship, which occupies a prime corner perch on Paradeplatz. There are gorgeous displays of Sprungli’s signature sweet, the Luxemburgerli, Lilliputian takes on the macaron; its exquisite line of truffles; and its dense, rich, uniquely shaped Truffe cake—quite possibly the best chocolate cake ever. Don’t miss its gorgeous second-floor café."

Confiserie Sprüngli is a lovely stop for sweets and warm drinks in Zürich. We tried a few different items, and overall had a really good experience. The Americano was solid and well-balanced, and the hot chocolate espresso was rich and delicious. The chestnut latte definitely had an authentic chestnut flavor, but the texture felt a bit off. It was almost like crushed chestnuts blended into the drink, so it wasn’t our favorite. The pastries, however, were excellent. The caramel baked apple tasted just like a warm apple pie, comforting and full of flavor. The truffle cake slice was also really good — rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. One detail I really appreciated was that the coffees came with a small piece of Sprüngli chocolate, which was a nice touch. Service was very quick and efficient, even with the café being busy. Overall, a great spot for classic Swiss treats, quality pastries, and a cozy break in the city. And a bonus of the chocolate shop right next door to purchase some chocolates!

Stopping by Sprüngli Café in Zurich feels a bit like visiting a pastry museum where you’re also encouraged to eat the exhibits. The location is iconic, the display cases are dangerously beautiful, and the smell alone should probably come with a warning label for self-control. The pastries, chocolates, and macarons are excellent—so good they make you briefly consider ordering one of everything and sorting out the consequences later. The coffee is solid, the sweets are top-tier, and the overall experience is very “classic Zurich.” That said, it can get busy. Finding a seat sometimes feels like a competitive sport, and prices gently remind you that you are enjoying something historic, prestigious, and very Swiss. Service is professional and efficient, even when the place is packed, and the atmosphere has that old-world charm that makes you feel classy—even if you’re just there for cake at 10 a.m. Four stars overall: fantastic treats, iconic setting, and a must-visit… just be prepared to wait a bit and accept that luxury pastries come with luxury prices. Worth it—at least once (or twice). 🍰☕

I visited because I heard it's famous in Zurich. It was my first time there and I ordered mini macarons. You choose the size of the box and tell the staff which mini macarons you want, and they'll fill it for you. I didn't know how to order, so I was trying to figure out how to do it. The staff wasn't very friendly, but they explained it to me. Maybe because I hadn't had lunch yet, but I enjoyed the meal on the train.

The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, perfect for a refined coffee break or gift shopping. Prices are premium, but the craftsmanship and flavors are well worth it. For me the best was their coffee ice cream—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth in Zurich.

Fantastic selection of chocolate, macrons, and pre-packaged gifts. Best chocolate we have had on our travels so far! Very expensive but worth a try if you are visiting from out of town.

Confiserie Sprüngli at Paradeplatz is an absolute gem and a must-visit in Zurich. The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by the warm aroma of fresh pastries, chocolate, and coffee — it instantly lifts your mood. The service is exceptional: friendly, professional, and genuinely proud of what they serve. Their Luxemburgerli are on a completely different level — delicate, airy, and unbelievably fresh. Every pastry and chocolate item looks like a work of art, and tastes even better than it looks. You can really feel the craftsmanship and tradition in every bite. The café upstairs is elegant and relaxing, perfect for breakfast, a coffee break, or a treat after exploring the city. Everything is beautifully presented, and the staff make sure you’re well looked after from start to finish. Sprüngli Paradeplatz is the definition of Swiss excellence. If you want the true Zurich experience, this is the place to go. Highly, highly recommended!
