Disappointing visit today. I wish I could tell you about the wine, but I cannot. I made the trip out to Confluence today as I’ve been interested in their wines for some time but had never made the drive. I walk into the tasting room and was greeted warmly, given a wine list and asked if I wanted to do a full tasting. I looked over the available options and decided to do the full tour. Upon pouring the first, a Chardonnay, not my favorite; I asked for just a super tiny pour. Turns out, I actually liked it. It had the character that I associate with Chablis more than the Willamette Valley Chardonnays. Well, that was the last I saw of my pourer. So I hung out by myself for a bit. Hmm. I’m the only customer. I pop out of the tasting room and notice my pourer talking to someone. No problem, I just pop back into the tasting room and read the list little more closely. Time goes on and I’m wondering if she forgot about me. I pop out again, still talking. I try to make myself obvious but neither of them acknowledges me (about 8ft away and clearly visible). So I wander around the tented area and grab a sit for a bit. They’re still talking. I get up and go back into the tasting room, lingering by my pourer and her companion. Nothing. Back in the tasting room by myself, I waited about 5 minutes. Popped out yet again (still talking) and decided to leave. So, in plain view of the person who greeted me, I left. No one said a word. I’ll probably try again as they have some unique offerings and I was hoping to return home today with a few bottles.
