14 Stellar Spots to Sip Wine in Vancouver and Clark County, Washington | Eater Portland

"Confluence Vineyards & Winery sits halfway between Ridgefield and Salmon Creek. Greg and Jae Weber named their boutique winery hoping to create a place for people to meet at this estate where tributaries of the Lake River converge just south of the property. This scenic winery produces a small quantity of high-quality wines with an emphasis on blended reds finished with petit verdot. At a recent tasting, a merlot dominant 2015 Companion Red stood out as super smooth and balanced from the beginning to the end. A crisp, strawberry-laden 2019 rosé with Yakima Valley grapes proved to be an excellent warm-weather sipper. Sparkling rosé will be added to the wine list later this summer." - Rachel Pinsky

If you’re wanting to plan an evening out with friends or someone special I’d recommend Confluence. The owners, and/or their staff, are knowledgeable about their blends and happily listen and share recommendations to meet your taste. I attended one of their dinner events recently with a planned menu. What a pleasant surprise on many levels. I attended with family and we all met new people and experienced engaging conversations. The chef tempted our palates with a variety of menu items that complimented each other. I enjoyed each menu item but the simple compressed watermelon that started the evening left a lasting memory. Keep in mind you can stop over for a glass of wine for a short period of time and enjoy the property or plan for a longer timeframe and schedule one of their many events. Whatever you decide I believe you’ll enjoy yourself.

Greg and Jae are incredibly knowledgeable, and their passion for winemaking is so engaging. They create such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. plenty of tasting, great conversation, and lots of opportunities to ask questions. Set in beautiful surroundings Confluence Winery, is a must for anyone curious about wine, whether you're a casual sipper or an aspiring connoisseur!

Absolute FAVORITE winery! Jae and Greg are two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet! SO knowledgeable and they really bring you into the process of where their grapes come from and what each varietal brings to each bottle. Can’t recommend this place enough!!! Grab a nice book and go out to enjoy a delicious glass of wine while taking in their peaceful atmosphere!

We did the Tide & Terrior event last night and as per usual at Confluence it was outstanding. And the wines speak for themselves. Greg just keeps putting out the best reds around. It’s a must do if you’ve not been.

Disappointing visit today. I wish I could tell you about the wine, but I cannot. I made the trip out to Confluence today as I’ve been interested in their wines for some time but had never made the drive. I walk into the tasting room and was greeted warmly, given a wine list and asked if I wanted to do a full tasting. I looked over the available options and decided to do the full tour. Upon pouring the first, a Chardonnay, not my favorite; I asked for just a super tiny pour. Turns out, I actually liked it. It had the character that I associate with Chablis more than the Willamette Valley Chardonnays. Well, that was the last I saw of my pourer. So I hung out by myself for a bit. Hmm. I’m the only customer. I pop out of the tasting room and notice my pourer talking to someone. No problem, I just pop back into the tasting room and read the list little more closely. Time goes on and I’m wondering if she forgot about me. I pop out again, still talking. I try to make myself obvious but neither of them acknowledges me (about 8ft away and clearly visible). So I wander around the tented area and grab a sit for a bit. They’re still talking. I get up and go back into the tasting room, lingering by my pourer and her companion. Nothing. Back in the tasting room by myself, I waited about 5 minutes. Popped out yet again (still talking) and decided to leave. So, in plain view of the person who greeted me, I left. No one said a word. I’ll probably try again as they have some unique offerings and I was hoping to return home today with a few bottles.

Are you a fan of big, bold, flavorful Washington Reds? This IS your place! Syrahs, cabs, petit verdot, malbec, blends... depending on what's currently in current stock at this outstanding boutique winery, you will likely find your new favorite!

Yelp
Visiting from Kansas, we saw this weekend event Red, Wine and Blues that sounded like a good place to meet up with family. It is a residential area with parking in a field. they have a small tasting room and an event tent set up. There was plenty of seating and tables under the tent and with umbrellas around the outside as well. We lucked out with the weather. The music we heard was very good. Enjoyed a bottle of their Marechal Foch first then a bottle of Syrah later. We thought the wine was a little pricey, but maybe that's what the area calls for. There was an awesome barbecue food truck called Smokin Franks- had a brisket meal with very good coleslaw and beans on the side add mac & cheese side! Perfect! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this event space if you're looking for a nice evening of wine music and food

Yelp
What a sweet little winery! The winemaker's wife helped us out during our time there...our party had 6 people in it. We did 3 tastings, a glass and a bottle. I work in the industry and she was kind to comp my tasting and offer a bottle discount. We really enjoyed the Chardonnay and the Merlot. Definitely their standout wines among the bunch. The port was yummy too! She even offered chocolate with that final splash. Keep in mind that this is a small production, family owned winery - support local and keep places like this afloat. I don't live in the area so I won't likely be back but if you are local, it's certainly worth checking out!

Yelp
We attended a Spring Barrel tasting at Confluence Winery yesterday, hosted by Greg Weber, Owner/Winemaker. A group of six people tasted 4 red varietals, that were of 2023 vintage. All had been in the oak barrels for only 5 months at this point. We were all amazed at the favor profile and drinkability of these young wines. As explained by Greg, Confluence will not bottle a red until it is barrel-aged 24-48 months, further enhancing the favor profile and complexity. Greg's wine knowledge enabled us the get informative answers to all our wine questions! It was definitely time well spent and enjoyable! Recommended for all wine lovers!

Yelp
PRIMITIVO IS BACK! Just went for a year-end tasting of their full compliment of wines, and Jae Weber was so informative and passionate about each wine in the tasting - all very good. My favorite is their classic Primitivo, but the Syra, Cab, and white/red ports are all delightful. The winery is located in a serene setting just north of Vancouver - well worth the drive. Highly recommended and appreciated!

Yelp
Hours say open and no one was there. Looks run down or under construction maybe. Not sure I'd go back to try it.

Yelp
Went by myself and it was assumed I was with another couple so ignored. Most seating is outside under a tent that's in pretty bad shape. Staff preoccupied having conversations with each other, even when I'm paying for my $20 glass of cab. Dogs are cute. Wine fairly good but unless the atmosphere changes I don't have an interest in returning.

Yelp
Went here for their Wine and Chocolate event in February . We got seated outside and then forgotten about; we waited 20 minutes and nothing. Finally decided to leave because I didn't want to stay at that point. Plus, I had to pee and the only bathroom available was a Honey bucket.

Yelp
*Parking: at the top of the hill, small signage that we missed completely. *5 tastings for $15 *No water offered, had to ask after 3rd taste, water came after 4th taste and was warm. *There was only 1 serving vessel for 2 people, 10 wines... all poured into the one serving vessel. *The white and rose were not chilled because ... something about bringing out the complex flavors...there were none, preferred chilled. *The first 3 tastes were sour and not good, we dumped them back into the serving vessel and the owner was upset we didn't use the spit bucket across the room. *The atmosphere was of someone's backyard, not like any other winery I've ever seen. SERVICE: *We were 1 of 3 tables and the server was rude, tending to the other 2 tables of friends. *We left cash since we couldn't get her attention for the check and she freaked out asking if she can help us pay before noticing our money on the table. In summary, we'd highly recommend trying any other winery in Ridgefield.

Yelp
I enjoy the vibe of this place. It has a nice seating area outside where you can enjoy your wines. I definitely recommend getting a sampler vs just a glass of wine so that you can try the different wines that they have. ......... .. .. .......... ..

Yelp
Lovely wine tasting experience. Delicious wines, really nice people, fantastic charcuterie plate, and adorable winery dogs. Only room for improvement is tasting room signage. At the end of the roundabout driveway, building on the left is the house, seating area on the left is the tasting room. We were made very welcome and we'll be back!

Yelp
Love the wine at this place! They specialize in big bold reds. Our favorite is the Syrah. The owners are pouring most weekends and they are personable and lovely. I was surprised to see reviews saying that people were not served... I have been going here for a few years and have never had that issue. I guess I am more of the type of person who will walk up to the counter and ask to start a tasting, though. Definitely worth checking out if you like quality wine.

Yelp
My husband and I love this wine! Greg and Jae make us feel at home whenever we come to visit. Their red wines are big, bold and delicious! Thank you for always providing a great experience and great wines.

Yelp
My favorite wining experience in the area.! Beautiful and relaxing setting. friendly owners. Their reds are superb. If you prefer whites try their Chardonnay, full of flavor, it's crisp and refreshing. I highly recommend this gem!

Yelp
Welcome to my favorite Washington State winery. Not only are the wines that they make on the high side of excellent but they are also just 10 minutes away from my house! This local winery is doing everything right. Their wines are creative and cool, they have a club membership that is awesome, and they host several wine tasting sessions a week. I think they are open daily in the summer. Membership is free and you are required to buy 2 bottles each quarter. Members are treated to free wine tasting sessions whenever they wish, special pricing, and access to special reserve bottling. The staff is always friendly and accomodating to their guests. Wine tasting is usually accompanied with appetizers, cheese and crackers. My favorite wine is their "Equilibrium", a Cabernet, Merlot,& Petit Verdot blend has also become a winery favorite. You can reserve bottles, which I highly recommend since they are often sold out a few weeks after it is released.

Yelp
Wow!! If you're wine tasting in Clark County, Confluence Winery is a MUST stop! They have a fantastic selection of big bold red wines, crafted in true Bordeaux style. Big jammy flavors, full mouth feel with a silky smooth finish that lasts. They are very warm and welcoming people that enjoy getting to know and sharing their wine with you. Worth the visit!!

Yelp
Spent a lovely afternoon tasting wines at Confluence. Everything we tasted was excellent. We are fans of big, full bodied reds and they have a wonderful selection. Chardonnay and rosé were also crisp and delicious. Charming grounds, relaxed setting and friendly staff. We also loved the two sweet winery dogs! Great spot.

Yelp
This my favorite winery in SW Washington. The reds are all done well big and bold with a dry finish . The owners are laid back and the vibe is very welcoming and friendly. Always an great day when we taste or swing in to pick up our quarterly wine club purchase. A must if you are doing the SW wineries.

Yelp
Have to agree with review by Lori C ~ sign at end of driveway said "Open Saturday 11-6" (was there today, on a Sunday, website said open on Sundays, so took a chance driving up to tasting room). Wasn't very clear where tasting room was, walked in, one other couple tasting. No greeting, no eye contact, no acknowledgement at all (?) Waited for a bit to see if maybe we walked in on a private tasting/event, just ignored, so walked out..... wanted to try since my sis is a club member & recommended.

Yelp
Hated to give this rating but still fuming over our wedding party that was held there. In a nutshell: 1. Paid $1,000 (on top of another $3,000 for wine) for a very dirty tent at the winery that we had to spend two hours cleaning up the day of our event because owner "didn't have time." 2. Had to buy plastic wine glasses the morning of event because she said her glasses would all be dirty. 3. White wine was warm, not chilled so very few of our guests enjoyed it. 4. Assured winery would close an hour before our event started. Public still streamed in after our event began. Well...I could go on an on. The good news is that thanks to understanding friends and family, we had a wonderful time. It's over and I will never go back there.

Yelp
I have stopped in twice. I have made purchases each time. These wines are for the most part big and bold. They do a couple of Bordeaux blends. Velvet is primarily a merlot. It is lovely, full bodied and ready to enjoy now or over the next several years. Great people own this place. They periodically include music; this past weekend they had music and crafts. These wines are not inexpensive; however, they are fairly priced. I suspect we will be back.

Yelp
Stopped out there last weekend, poor signage to where you need to go. Gate was closed and had no idea if a private event or what was going on. Walked back to tasting room and stood there for a good 3 minutes waiting to taste. No eye contact, no "I'll be right with you", nothing. Turned around and left - will not waste time trying to go again.

Yelp
Had fun at Confluence and got to try some really good whites and reds, plus meet some committed locals. The owner was fun and knowledgeable. The only reason for four stars instead of five is the porta potty instead of the regular bathroom (it was hot that day).

Marianna L.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite wineries, firstly the wines are deep rich and hardy, similar to my heritage wines from Sicily, lovely and delicious. The location is stunning, starting with the long driveway lined with beautiful trees to the vineyards that are pristinely taken care of. The gardens, the tasting room, the music area where they hold great events and live music to accompany there tasty full bodied wines. The owners are always cheerful and greeting guests. I'd recommend you drive to ridgefield and discover this secret hideaway it's worth the drive.

Russ R.

Yelp
Can't really rate their wine because the lady pouring in the tasting room refused to honor our wine passports because of some special event scheduled for later in the afternoon. Long drive just to be turned away.

John K.

Yelp
Awesome winery that has a eye on quality. I recommend trying them and joining their wine club.
