The 31 Best Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | Eater

"In 2007, Vietnamese artist Linh Dung opened the first Cộng Cà Phê in the heart of Hanoi’s downtown quarter. It was frequented by members of the local art community, who stopped by for the heavenly signature Cốt Dừa Cà Phê, iced coconut milk with dark, strong Vietnamese coffee. According to the website, “Cộng” refers to Vietnam’s official name, Cộng Hòa Xã hội Chủ Nghĩa Việt Nam (the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), though the cafe interior also includes lots of design references to the Viet Cong. The city’s young residents — who tend to think of the war differently than older generations and the international community — have embraced the vintage decor and military-esque furniture as period kitsch, and the cafe has become immensely popular in HCMC with many locations." - Linh Phan

Cong Cafe is famous for its coconut coffee and it really is a must-try. This location is great because it’s in a little hidden shopping complex with lots of cute local clothing brands & thrift stores.

Great atmosphere that combines a soft quiet sound of background music and rustic tables and chairs . The staff wear the old North Vietnam army uniform of the 1970s. The coffee is delicious especially the coconut ice coffee. The water is fresh and served in a steel small cup with ice. I could chill here and relax for one hour easily. Highly recommended. 4.8/5

their classic coconut coffee was fragrant but I found that the coffee to milk ratio was too low. it felt like I was drinking a coconut milk slushie with a dash of coffee. The service was pretty good although they were quite busy, and the ambience was nice with a very retro vibe.

Always a good spot to have a refreshing cool drink, the aesthetic inside is pleasant and the views outside are enjoyable as well, Drinks are reasonably priced and come out quickly. Can get very busy sometimes.

Delicious coconut coffee, along with pandan rice dessert as well. Goes well with Vietnamese style jerky that is sweet and spicy. It’s tucked away inside a historic looking building, with a lot of the old interior details preserved. The overall atmosphere was great, it really felt like a local coffee experience and we ended up buying coconut coffee packets as souvenirs. Would highly recommend as they have many branches throughout the city.

This surely will be one of the things I'll miss once Ieave Vietnam to go back home. It's my first time "drinking" coffee out of the spoon. I tried their Cocount Coffee and it was so amazing. The coconut balances out the strong taste of Vietnamese coffee, making it the perfect drink. Highly recommending this! ps. they only accept cash

I visited the Cong Caphe on Ly Tu Trong twice this past week, and both times were truly enjoyable. The space has a nostalgic, old-school vibe — with military green walls, wooden furniture, and vintage décor that creates a cozy, laid-back atmosphere with a touch of charm. ☕ The drinks were well-balanced and refreshing. I tried the ambarella (cóc) juice and the snowy yogurt with fresh fruits — both were light, not overly sweet, and made with fresh ingredients. I also recommended the place to a few friends, and they all loved the style and how easy the drinks were to enjoy. If you’re looking for a café with real character — a Vietnamese identity that still feels trendy and relaxed — Cong Caphe – Ly Tu Trong is definitely worth a visit.

Figured I should try this franchise before I leave as I've enjoyed their convenience store brand coffee in Korea. It's quite a popular place and it was mostly full when I went in (late afternoon). Some tables and chairs are smaller than others. The AC didn't feel like it was cooling the whole place evenly, but eventually, I did cool down. Tried the coconut green rice (65K/$2.55) and fresh lime juice (39K/$1.55). The coconut was a freeze/blended ice drink, a little bit sweet with glutinous rice. I thought it was good. The lime juice wasn't too tart, more like a non-carbonated lime soda. Thought it was good. The prices are midrange and on the lower end for franchise places.

Cong Cafe is located along Dong Khoi Street. This is the first Ho Chi Minh City branch of Cong Café. The coffee with coconut milk, which is the signature of this cafe, is very tasty and chilled, perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
