I was thrilled when they opened, because Germantown has a paucity of shops that serve quality coffee. The coffee is generally brewed well, and they typically have a decent selection of treats to enjoy with my coffee.
However, we have noticed a persistent decline in the quality of service. More times than not, the staff are overly rude and seemingly irritated with patrons’ orders. When they get orders wrong, they seem to always blame it on the customer rather than their own process, and then they take it out on the customer. I have been subject to this behavior, and witnessed it among others as I sat nearby. I’ve been treated more kindly at the DMV before.
All food is removed from cabinets a hour and a half before closing time, and cleanup begins early. If you come in anywhere close to this time (I’m not talking about 15 min before closing), they will ignore you at the counter until they have to address you. It is very obvious that the workers want to close up WAY before the actual closing time, and you will not stand in their way.
Lastly, proper attire for staff would be appreciated, as during the warmer months, staff were seen scratching exposed areas of their body while serving food and drink. This was a one off (or two) event, but hard to forget.
Overall, this coffee shop started out wonderfully, and continues to serve excellent coffee. However, there definitely needs to be focus on customer service and general attitude of the workers. I want this place to do well, but until this aspect is addressed (I’m not the only one who has noticed), I’d rather drive a little further to Jojo’s where I have never experienced anything other than kindness and a helpful demeanor.
