I have tried Congregation several times since it opened just over a year ago. I really want to love it - it's in a convenient location, has a great vibe, and the service has never been an issue for me. However, I remain very unimpressed by the coffee.
When it first opened and I had my first cinnamon roll latte, I was disappointed by the lack of flavor and the overpowering, oddly sweet espresso. I attributed this to the fact that they had just opened and were likely working out the kinks and perfecting the menu. Unfortunately, this has proven not to be the case.
I have returned to Congregation several times since then, hoping for a redemptive coffee experience, but it continually falls short. I've had cinnamon roll lattes that have zero flavor until the aftertaste hit - and even then, it tasted as if cinnamon rolls were baking in the next room over. I've had pumpkin spice lattes that left me wanting more from the flavor. Most recently, I tried a peppermint white chocolate latte that was strangely overly sweet but did not resemble peppermint or white chocolate in any way.
I think this was the last straw. I've wasted enough money here, hoping my disappointment was due to the growing pains of a new coffee shop. After a little over a year, I think I can say that I have given up on Congregation.
