House-roasted beans, pastries, light fare, gift shop

"A place to snag a latte while exploring Algiers Point." - Jenny Adams

"Reopened after a six-month hiatus, I found the cafe at 240 Pelican Avenue back in operation under new ownership: Patrick Brennan of the Ralph Brennan family acquired the company from founder Eliot Guthrie in October and has pledged to restart and grow its operations. The cafe is now open Thursday through Monday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Congregation’s coffee is available for home delivery on weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly schedules as part of an online subscription service." - Clair Lorell

"I noted that Congregation Coffee ceased roasting operations in early May and that its Algiers Point cafe and the Tchoupitoulas roasting facility closed as of May 7; founder Eliot Guthrie said he remains hopeful the brand will return in some form and that negotiations were underway with a local group interested in maintaining it." - Clair Lorell

"After it shut down in May 2023 following eight years and national acclaim, I'm excited that Patrick Brennan has acquired Congregation Coffee Roasters from founder Eliot Guthrie and plans to reopen the Algiers Point coffee shop and the wholesale roastery next month; he also intends to expand Congregation with additional New Orleans coffee shops and add pastries from the Ralph Brennan Bakery to the coffeehouse lineup." - Clair Lorell

"A nationally-acclaimed New Orleans coffee roaster loved by the city’s restaurants and its home-delivery customers has closed its Tchoupitoulas Street roasting facility, with its Algiers Point cafe soon to follow, though both may reopen under new ownership. Congregation Coffee Roasters was started in 2015 by Eliot Guthrie and Ian Barrilleaux after working together at Cochon Butcher and found success supplying top local restaurants, grocery stores, and building a large subscription business; Food & Wine named it the best coffee roaster in Louisiana in 2018. Guthrie, now the sole owner and also an owner at Duke Walter’s (which operates out of the kitchen at Finn McCool’s), says he has been wanting to move on “for some time” and is negotiating with a local group interested in maintaining the brand, but cautions the cafe may close temporarily or limit hours in the meantime." - Clair Lorell
