I was disappointed at the greeting I was given. The greeter drilled me, who are you and why are you here?
I told him, "I came looking for answers."
"You won't find any answers here." I considered to leave there and then, but I was hopeful. The greeter gave me a Torah, Seder Yarmulke, and Service Brochure.
The service was encouraging, inspiring and edifying. I was thrilled by some of the weekday events they had in the brochure and tried to review them halfway through the service. That's when I realized the brochure was taken from the seat next to me when I wasnt looking. I tried to talk to a few people after service but they made it clear they didnt want to talk with me. The greeter returned asked sarcastically if I learned anything. I calmly replied I the service answered many questions and created many more. He made it clear he didn't want to talk. I left dejected. I was hoping to find a community but instead I was treated like an unclean goyim.
