New York’s Most Exciting New Bar Is at the TWA Hotel in JFK | Eater

"A novelty cocktail bar installed inside a vintage airplane that serves as a retro, aviation-themed drinking destination. It drew long lines during press previews and significant public curiosity, with reservations filling up quickly; the experience is often described as playful and photogenic but also reminiscent of the quirks of air travel (queues and boarding vibes), making it particularly appealing to aviation fans and those seeking a unique nightlife outing at the airport." - Amanda Kludt

Such a cozy (maybe 20 people at a time can fit )little spot to have a fresh and hot omelette ! Even though she was by herself with a b fast rush - she took her time to make sure I had everything I needed. The menu has a good variety of choices . Annnnnnnd you get a free homemade cookie .

We recently visited Connie's for breakfast, and while the food was pretty good, I have to say I was more drawn to the lunch menu! The staff were super kind and accommodating when I asked to order from the lunch menu instead. My husband and I enjoyed the mushrooms burger and tuna melt. The shop itself was small but cozy, and the staff's friendly service added to the warm atmosphere.

Google
Food is AWESOME. Breakfast burger was great. Good pancakes. Eggs Benedict is the best I've ever had. A must visit..

Google
Great food, great prices, no nonsense. Also no alcoholic beverages but let's be honest, you can go one meal without booze 😉 If you play your cards right you might even get a free cookie 🍪 Looking forward to our next visit!

Google
Growing up in a small Nebraska town, this is exactly the type of Americana food I was looking for. I've never had a bad meal and highly recommend the ham and eggs, chicken fried steak and eggs, the little piggy omelette, the meatloaf and jalapeno omelette, and the patty melt.

Marcella D.

Google
It was the best dang food! I would highly recommend to come here if you miss having homemade food from a grandma.

Google
This place should be on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives;" it's that good! Found it by Googling Breakfast places in Vista and so glad we did! Best meatloaf I've had at a restaurant ever! They even let me switch out the burger patty for meatloaf on the breakfast burger and it was awesome! Bacon Benedict was tasty too according to my fellow foodie. The kid at the table next to us had the apple pie french toast (it looked and smelled amazing) and he told Connie it was the best French Toast he'd ever had. The final touch was scratch-made cookies that came with the bill. Delicious!

Google
The best food and amazing service! We love coming here. Definitely check this place out if you haven’t already it does not disappoint. My favorite part is a fresh baked cookie at the end with the check. Thank you Connie!

Yelp
When Connie seated us at our table, I jokingly said, "this is our first visit, so you better make a good impression." She immediately replied, "my fear is that you come back!" Fun way to begin our dining experience. Connie's Cafe is a little hidden gem with a small dining area. I could immediately tell that it has its local family of regulars. Anyway, there was nothing negative to report. The coffee is good, and the omelet was very good; tender, juicy, and loaded with great flavor! Prices are moderate and it's nice to not have some sort of sign that major restaurants have saying they are adding a surcharge for egg products. And my guess is they have lower egg "overhead" costs than your local shop. The venue is clean, and my favorite part is the decor; more specifically, all the placards on the wall. It's just loaded with humorous sayings. Kept my wife and me busy reading them. So yeah, some Yelpers claim that Connie is rude. My guess is it's related to her style of sarcastic humor having nothing to do with any rudeness. Case in point: As we were leaving, I told her that if there wasn't anything else positive, her fruit was the best I've ever had! Fresh, juicy, sweet & tasty. Her reply? "If that's the best ya got for me, get the hell outta here" to which everyone in the restaurant laughed! (note: no children were present) Sorry Connie but looks like your fear is gonna come true. I WILL BE BACK! [note: This review has been sitting in my drafts for 6 months! Hence my "egg price" comment. Guess my busy life just got the better of me.]

Yelp
The biscuits and gravy are actually very good and a little bit peppery, which is what I like. It appears to be run by two people with the owner Connie?) out front as a server and counter person and someone else in the back as a cook. I've been here twice, and I find the lady that runs the front of the house to be quite cold and bordering on rude. She really doesn't seem to have the personality for this type of business. Some have suggested that her demeanor is sarcasm. I love sarcasm and if this was supposed to be sarcasm, she's really bad at it also - this isn't Ed Debevic's. Perhaps you should get to know people a little bit before you're rude to them.

Yelp
Not happy with waitress service and attitude. We came from the softball game and be very proud of 25 people and she made us feel not welcoming, so we left the place. She also refused to tell her name to us when we asked.

Yelp
This is a really nice diner hidden away in Vista near Rancho Buena Vista High School on Melrose Ave. I ride my bike down this street often and had no idea Connie's was tucked away in this shopping center. We had a really nice breakfast and sat outside for sidewalk dining. They have 6 or so tables inside and a like number outside. Connie was very friendly and attentive during all parts of our meal. I had the ham & cheese omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. Coffee was also hot and tasty. Others in my party had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and also a kids meal with a pancake, sausage and an egg. Really enjoyed ourselves and When the meal was over Connie brought out 3 peanut butter and jelly cookies. Never had one before but it was still soft and warm and delicious. Def going back!!

Yelp
Must visit! The food here at Connie's is just a perfect touch of home. This is a family owned business and Connie is so warm and welcoming. Ambience is great and she has quirky quotes in the wall and homely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Yelp
First time trying this place and it is good! I was very surprised by how hot the food was. I went to the gas station and starbucks and just got back and then Xu delivered the food. he must have been speeding because it was still hot. I appreciate that greatly. I tried the biscuits and gravy because the last time I had it elsewhere, it was not good. But this dish was great! it was a lot for me so I barely finished one biscuit of the Biscuits & Gravy. I didn't finish the stage and the inky thing I ate in its entirety was the scrambled egg. For the Little Piggy , it looked good but I didn't try it. However, all of it was eaten. And I really had a hankering for Pancakes, so I ordered that and it was good. I ate a quarter of it and then my bf finished all of the other plates. I will definitely order from this place again.

Yelp
The building is Small but mighty good food. We have been to Connie's before and it never disappoints. Always plenty of food for the price and the service is always on point. Today we had biscuits and gravy. It came with eggs to order, hash browns and a sausage patty. Delicious on all fronts. Connie has been at this location for 11 years and she and her son have a great place. Plenty of to go orders for a Sunday at 8:00 am. Her bill comes with homemade specialty cookies. Today was orange, cherry, and white chocolate!! Divine!!
google avatar

Jaime M.

Yelp
Super rude, was coming in with a group of 7 and the waitress older woman gave us a sour stare and spoke really rudely. We are from out of town and the menu looked great but customer service was awful. Don't recommend anyone to even give it a chance.
google avatar

Brittany C.

Yelp
Visiting our family in Vista and they recommended for all of us to go to Connie's... I underestimated how great this food would be. I get why they have such amazing reviews! The food was so, so good. We ordered the grilled roast beef (delicious!), the western burger (delicious!), the Hawaiian burger (also delicious), the Reuben (oh my gosh so good), and three French dips... you can't go wrong with any of it! And she cooks everything herself, real marinated meats, slow cooking, and you can taste the difference in her food vs a standard processed restaurant. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
Perfectly perfect fluffy pancakes, soft fluffy eggs and delicious biscuits and gravy! Breakfast food done well and at a price point that won't break the bank. This is a neighborhood place and the customers call the owner, Connie, by name. It is a tiny little diner with additional seating outside. The decor has cute signs on the walls that you can read while you wait. This is how breakfast food is done right. Connie is no-nonsense so don't go in trying to customize stuff or you might get the side-eye. But you can see how much the owner cares for the regulars and when she has time she will stop and chat- but the place is busy so go early. This is a classic breakfast diner where you go to get good food- plain and simple. It's a local place and it's delicious. I wish there were more places like it.

Yelp
Was in the area and had been hearing about Connie's for a while, so I stopped in to try it. I was in the mood for breakfast, but not a big breakfast cause I wasn't that hungry. It is very home Homie feeling. There's lots of fun little art sayings on the wall and it's just a small sweet spot. I ordered a few sides and the service was super friendly and quick. My eggs and hashbrowns were tasty and my water was kept filled. I love the little outdoor seating area too, but I was a little too cold to sit outside when I got my check there was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips with it. That was a very nice touch. I will definitely come back and I want to try their Wednesday night dinner $12 specials

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim while randomly in town and was very satisfied with this place. This mom and pop breakfast nook is very cozy and charming. Chau was absolutely outstanding and made our first experience here very warm and heart filled. My husband and I loved the food and will be back asap!!! I got the Lulu's Benedict and my husband got the breakfast burger. Both were flavorful and memorable in the best way. We also loved the surprise cookies!!!! The flavor for today was chocolate with cherries and white chocolate chips inside. Absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Edward O.

Yelp
My husband and I used to live around the area, and the amount of times he mentions how much he misses Connie and her food drives me crazy. But I also always agree. Now that we're visiting California, we had to prioritize our favorite spot. If you're looking for a welcoming/relaxing vibe, then definitely have breakfast here. My husband always gets the biscuits and gravy, and I get the apple pie French toast. They're to die for! - Edward and Cody P.S. Treat Connie the way you want to be treated, unless you're a masochist. Then don't.
google avatar

Pamela R.

Yelp
Based on Yelp reviews, we decided to try Connie's for my husband's birthday breakfast. The restaurant is small. 4, four tops, 3, two tops, and a couple of tables outside. Inside is decorated with cute/funny wall plaques. Connie is the server/busser, and Bill is the cook. I ordered biscuits and gravy (pictured), the hubs ordered the Piggy, and the kid ordered apple pie french toast. The food was served hot and it was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly, and there was plenty to eat. Homemade cookies are served at the end of the meal. Great little place we'll be sure to visit again. 10/10
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
They have delicious pancakes that melts in your mouth! This is a small, family owned business. It's always nice to support local and small businesses. We got our order fast. Service was great. They were friendly, efficient, and attentive.
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
Connie's is a little place in a strip mall. It's amazing. Connie is the owner and server. I had the Lulu's benedict that has spinach, mushrooms and tomato. The hollandaise is some of the best I have ever had. Hubby had biscuits and gravy and he really enjoyed them. When she brings the bill it includes a homemade cookie or two. Ours were peanut butter and jelly. SO good!! I would go back just for those.

Raoul B.

Yelp
Great food in a quiet location. Lots of eclectic decor, and a friendly staff make this place even better.
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
Great family diner! This is run by a mother and her grown son and it harkens back to the days of yor. The food is "basic" and extremely good. Service is top notch as well
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommend if you like real people, good food, and aren't uptight. Kudos to our server who was hustling to check on everyone and learning from Connie. Connie's is a small spot we luckily found based on previous reviews. We were looking for a no nonsense traditional breakfast spot and Connie's fit the bill. We visited on Labor Day around noon and were able to get a table inside. The restaurant is family owned and run which is a plus for us. Connie was cooking today as her son had the day off. She had another family member helping with taking orders and service. Between orders Connie came up front to talk with tables and it was apparent this is a spot with several regulars. The food was solid. My husband had the Denver omelette with home fries and sourdough. I had the biscuits and gravy. Both were delicious. The sausage gravy and sausage patty had good flavor and I was pleased that the gravy did not have that "from a packet" flavor. I like it on the peppery side so added some additional, but it was so good.
google avatar

Yelp
If you look through the comments you'll see that I'm not the only one who has complained that Connie is flat out rude. I agree with the gentleman who said she should sell her business since she doesn't know how to conduct herself appropriately . And I am not the only one she has yelled at inside of her restaurant. She told me to get the fuck out of her way! Yelled to everyone I was upset cuz I had to wait over an hour for raw eggs - For those who have come to her rescue and created falsehoods to protect her in someway - well if you like going to a place where someone is rude uses the F word with customers , wears a dirty apron and is despicable all while serving raw eggs more power to you! My comment of Connie being completely rude and not conducting herself properly is not an isolated case if you read through the comments you will see that she is treated others this way.

Gena L.

Yelp
In the shade, peaceful. delicious food, heartfelt caring staff, passionate cooking and worth every bite. Only one wish.. stronger coffee
google avatar

Jeoung O.

Yelp
Ate and Connie's today. Family had the Denver omelette, country sausage eggs benedict and pancakes. Thought the pancakes were perfectly fluffy. The gravy and sauce on the eggs Benedict was also fantastic. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely a great local place for breakfast.
google avatar

Kayla A.

Yelp
Food reminds me of totally home cooked from my mom which I think is comforting for many but just be aware that if you are not a local you may be treated as irrelevant by the staff.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
I finally tried one of Wednesday dinner specials for $12. A small size salad (mainly chopped lettuce with 2 slices of tomatoes and cucumbers with balsamic on the side , as requested) - another option was chicken soup. For the main dish again were 2 options Cuban or Chicken fingers both with Mac and cheese, sprinkled with bacon bits. I liked both chicken fingers and Mac and cheese, both the taste and the size. You can order by the phone or using Nextdoor app, pickup is from 4 till 5:30 PM.

Estella B.

Yelp
Woke up late looking for a new breakfast place to try, Connie's did not disappoint. Cute little café ran by Connie herself. I ordered the apple pie French toast with bacon on the side. The apple pie French toast was a cinnamon apple dream. Prices are amazing in today's world. Connie was fast and efficient, the best part was she gave us homemade cookies with our check. Pineapple and potato chip! You can tell she makes them in her free time and it's such a nice touch to the experience. Will be back!

Yelp
Wonderful food and service. Note; Connie is old school and sassy, she's very kind and great with kids however if you act rude you're not going to have a good time. The restaurant is small and very personal.

James M.

Yelp
Connie's is a new local favorite of mine. My parents have been going here for a few years now and always rave about it. I ordered the apple pie french toast. Perfectly sweet and tangy from the fresh apples used. The sauce isnt over powering, it's just right. You get two pieces of bacon on the side to balance out the sweet with some salty goodness. The owner Connie reminds me of my late grandma, sweet, with a little sass to go with it. The walls are lined with multiple comedic and inspirations quotes. I believe it is just her, her significant other and another cook. Please show them some love. Ps, you get a tasty home made cookie at the end and it's always a little different. Thanks again Connie!

Susie C.

Yelp
Great food, service, prices. Connie was sweet and even sent us home with extra cookies!

Yelp
In San Diego North County, we have a group on FB called Around the Town and this particular Cafe has been featured there many times. Finally, I made it. Got there before 1pm and it was not busy. Connie, the owner, welcomed me in and I ordered a decaf coffee. In case you didn't know, her restaurant burned and had to be repaired. It's been a year and a half now since that happened. When I ordered my Bacon Eggs Benedict, I asked for no English Muffins and just place it on top of the hash browns which they did. Food was delish. Connie was very welcoming. We chatted a little. Then her restaurant got busy. I love the final touch where she gives you a cookie when she brings the bill. Today's flavor was Cherry Lemon M&M. I'll do my best to stop by and check out the other food. Thank you Connie!

Rolla Y.

Yelp
Was looking for a new breakfast spot and came across Connie's online....so I thought I would give it a go. I was so glad that I did. The food was delicious, the service was fast, and the atmosphere was great. At the end of our meal we were given a delicious freshly baked cookie. How can you beat that!
google avatar

Wendie L.

Yelp
Connie's Cafe is a hidden gem. We were in town for a family function and decided to go out to breakfast. We picked the perfect spot! The food was delicious and Connie is a hoot. The kitchen sink omelette is packed full of flavor. Don't sleep on this place.
google avatar

Karina R.

Yelp
Let me start by saying Connie is a rockstar! She was running around waiting and serving tables all alone and was doing it flawlessly. Her attitude kept smiles on all of her guests' faces as we enjoyed the delicious food. Every single item was made to perfection! Even got some free cookies to take home! Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys great food in an intimate setting (Please excuse the half eaten food pics, we were too busy enjoying everything before we stopped to think we HAD to leave a review!)
google avatar

Laurena D.

Yelp
Rude staff. Undercooked omelet. I'm not sure who's writing the glowing reviews, but they clearly didn't eat at Connie's. I live a half mile from here and was hoping for a breakfast place that my family would love and could visit regularly. Hopes dashed.

Marny F.

Yelp
First visit experience was enough to never go back. Service was ridiculous at not busy time and food was lukewarm.
google avatar

Nancy D.

Yelp
If you are looking for classic 1950's style diner food, this is your place. We ordered traditional patty melts.

Raylynn D.

Yelp
Connie's breakfast is consistently good. My husband and I go there just because of Connie. I know that some people have commented her as rude but I feel like that's just her humor..maybe also because I am used to dark humor and bluntness literally why me and hubby enjoy it there she says things like it is. It's a small gem wiith decent service and good breakfast for sure. If you ever watched Supernatural and see the scenes where Dean and Sam go to random breakfast diners, it feels like that when I'm there with the cooks classic rock playing in the background.

Taylor C.

Yelp
Had a great first time at Connie's. Just moved down the street from this place about 2 weeks ago. The food was great and Connie herself was super nice, welcoming and kind. She gave me a few baked goods to go and it satisfied my pregnancy cravings at night! My husband enjoyed it as well.
google avatar

Whitney I.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It is a small business ran by Connie, a nice woman who also had her grandchildren working that day. It's nice to see a family business just growing and doing well. We sat down outside and we were able to pick our orders really easily. It was a busy Sunday brunch time, so we waited a little bit longer than expected. Connie and the wait staff were so nice, they checked in on us and were really friendly. I got the club sandwich with parmesan fries. Everything was great - no complaints. It was $11 - really good price for lunch. At the end, they gave us cookies! Connie apparently surprises guests with cookies on the way out! She makes whatever inspires her that morning, so we got peanut butter, blueberry cookies. They were amazing! Was floored by this place and glad we got to stop by!

Yelp
This tiny local mom and pop diner is located in a shopping strip. There are six tables inside (looked like 100 sq ft inside) and two outside. We would have preferred to sitting outside but the tables were already taken. The seating was far enough with 3 other tables taken. I ordered a Make Your Own Omelette with avocado, mushroom, and bell pepper (comes with cheese) & my husband ordered the Denver omelette. The omelette wasn't overwhelming huge like some other places but just the right size. When you receive your bill, you get a cookie too.

Yelp
This is my first time I have ordered online with Connie's Restaurant on the FREE Door Dash Pass Program. I wanted to order from a different restaurant today. Connie's has a great menu, My first order is the Club Sandwich with the potato salad. I also ordered a Garden Salad. The price is $2.95. I didn't see a selection for the type of dressing to put on this salad. I used my own Kraft Ranch Dressing with Bacon Bits. The price is $10.95. For my beverage, I ordered one regular size cup of Orange juice. The price is $2.49. The subtotal is $16.39. The delivery fee would have been $6.99. There was No charge for the delivery bill because I am still using the Free Door Dash Pass Program. The service fee would be $3.00. I was only charged the 82 cents today. The tax was $1.35. The dasher tip for John was $5.00. The total bill was $23.56. This is a very affordable price. This order was charged to my NFCU Visa Credit Card Account today. It took about one hour and 10 minutes before I received my order by John my dasher driver to my home. I also received a text message notification that said the Door Dash Company is trying to find a driver to deliver my food order to my house this afternoon. It had taken about 15 minutes before this Door Dash Company was able to locate a dasher driver to pick up my Order and deliver my order to my home. John this dasher driver delivered my Order to my home at 12:42 a. m. John was very personable and friendly to me when he handed me my Connie's Restaurant Order. I brought the one large package inside my house and unpacked everything from the bag. The Club Sandwich with the potato salad was very delicious. The salad was moist and has the perfect amount of mayonnaise and mustard in it. The sweet purple onions and the Paprika gave this Potato Salad more flavor. It was so good! The Club Sandwich I was only able to eat half of this sandwich due to the generous pieces of Ham and Turkey Meat was piled really high with 3 pieces of toasted Bread slices in between I could hardly fit my mouth around this Club Sandwich to eat it. I saved the other half of this Club Sandwich to eat later. The Garden Salad I ordered was very fresh with delicious vegetables but it had no salad dressing on it. My beverage was the one regular size cup of Orange Juice. This Orange Juice was very healthy and fresh tasting. This meal was a very delicious meal I enjoyed eating today from Connie's Restaurant. Everything I have eaten today for my lunch was very healthy. This Connie's Restaurant prices are very reasonable. I will order from Connie's Restaurant again at a later date.

Yelp
Surprised by these awesome reviews. The cafe is next door to a dance studio, looked tasty so decided to try it. The older lady was SO incredibly rude, it was shocking to me. It's possible that it was because I showed up with some kids, but they were playing with the jellies that were on the table. Without a smile, without asking, she just whisked them away. No greetings, no nothing, just a what do you want, I ordered, and she delivered the food without so much as a hi, hello. Shocking service for a $17 sandwich. Food was pretty good.
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
My son frequents Connie's and it's everything he said. Connie is so friendly and attentive to customers. The portions of food are more than enough and delicious! It's a small business, so you may have to wait for a table, but trust me it's worth the wait! Do yourself a favor and eat at Connie's!

Gabe R.

Yelp
I walked in to get some breakfast to go because I'm a driver and Connie actually greeted me as I walked in with such a pleasant smile! Her customer service is excellent and took my order right away. The small Mom n Pops feel is very homey which I enjoyed. And the biscuits and gravy was delicious! Excellent food and excellent customer service Thankyou Connie! I will be back!

Yelp
This place! I loved it. If you like supporting a small business, get over here! My friend and I enjoyed the best lunch with the best service. Mackenzie was our server, and it was fantastic. She made us feel so welcome! What a wonderful young lady. I had the fancy grilled cheese with a salad. The dressing was excellent and the sandwich so good. I can't wait to go back there. Oh- and we got special homemade cookies with our bill!

Evan A.

Yelp
I was there the day a crazed woman complained about their omelette then berated the customers for eating there. Connie handled the situation like a pro and continued providing amazing service as well as amazing cookies at the end! Laura R. please do better, we all enjoyed our food and experience despite your unseemly behavior.

Yelp
We decided to try Connie's today for a breakfast meal. It is located in a strip mall right off Melrose so there is plenty of parking. I called in my to go order and Connie gave me the options to choose from and said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived and it was ready a little earlier than promised. There were people eating inside and outside. It looked like 2 or 3 tables out front and 5 or 6 inside. Inside the restaurant the walls have a plethora of things hanging on them including some funny signs. I ordered the apple pie French toast and the choose your own omelet and was happy that such a large amount of food with tax was under $24. The apple pie French toast looks amazing, and tasted ok. Adding the syrup helped as it was a little dry. I had not seen anything like it before and was glad I got a chance to try it. The choose your own omelet comes with cheese and 2 pieces of bacon but we picked avocado, mushrooms, and spinach for the 3 ingredients. For our side we picked hash brows and sourdough toast. The omelet was ok, but the hash browns seemed a little undercooked and not crispy enough for me. The sourdough toast was good. Definitely a nice amount of food for the price.

Yelp
Small, hidden gem in San Marcos! Girlfriends and I came in for a breakfast and was worried there wouldn't be room for us. We were surprisingly seated immediately, with menus and drinks promptly given. I commented on how cute the mugs are and Connie (?) appreciated that :) I ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, sausage, and crispy hash browns. The food was decent and I had no issues with it--I ate the whole thing after all. What I appreciated the most is it wasn't pretentious and had a "homemade," mom-n-pop, touch to it. In fact, the whole restaurant is filled with details (such as the wall art) that give you this atmosphere, which I love! They were also somewhat busy when my friends and I came in. A good sign that the locals enjoy this place! I don't live close enough to Connie's to come back anytime soon, but if I do find myself in SM, it would be a place that I would likely consider again for breakfast or brunch! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Cute little cafe ... went off the reviews . Glad we came . Had the waffle , eggs, sausage . Portions are just enough . Coffee was good . I would come back and try more things on the menu !

Yelp
Connie needs help . Food was so/so I was not impressed with the food . There is only 2 people working there , the cook and server /hostess . I honestly I don't get the 4.5 stars but ok .
