"This iconic St. Paul shop is a step back in time to the era when diners ordered ice cream from walk-up windows. Conny’s soft serve ventures well outside the chocolate/vanilla paradigm, hitting flavors like amaretto, black cherry, and pumpkin. Grab some onion rings and a chili dog to complete the nostalgic summer meal." - Eater Staff, Stacy Brooks

No better way to Support your local small businesses and show them that they have a community behind them then to stop by and grab some family favorites. Very friendly staff and great spot to just bring the family for some sweet treats and enjoy the beauty of St. Paul's Como area. With the lake just a few blocks away, this spot is perfect. Stop in today and try some tasty treats for yourself.

I'm sooo happy that they have my grape float! It's all I've been looking for since moving to St Paul as there isn't a DQ around. Someone got a vanilla cone with covered in crunch and it looked so dang good! That's what next to try. Their food smell good too. They keep busy! But then again it was 80⁰ today on October 11. They are open until the October 21 woohoo

So many delicious flavors to choose from. The crunch twist cone was delicious. Reasonably priced. The parking lot is kind of small, but otherwise this place is amazing!

Cute little building. I had a cheeseburger, cheese curds and a large diet coke. I went to go walk it off at a nearby park that had a small lake. Then I went back to Conny's creamy cone for the dip of the week waffle cone :) (dip of the week was Confetti birthday cake). Another time I went I tried the mac and cheese wedges.. yummy! I encluded a picture of the mac and cheese wedges.

Y'all know how darned hard it is to find a simple twist cone in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and surrounding suburbs?! I came all the way from St. Louis Park to satisfy my craving for one, and it was absolutely worth the drive! I was tempted by the other delectable sounding flavors, but I ordered the traditional chocolate/vanilla twist I've had a hankering for over the past few months and I was not disappointed! So much creamy goodness for $3. It's the simple things in life, you know? I think I'll stop by one more time on Saturday and try one of the more exotic flavors before Conny's closes for the season. Thank you, Conny. Thank you!!!

It's a neighborhood institution for a reason. If you live in the Twin Cities, you are pretty much obligated to go there once or twice every season. They reportedly have 37 million flavors of ice cream, but I can't get past the chocolate sundae with chocolate ice cream. This type of place is sadly becoming a rare bird in this world, so give them your love, and a few bucks. Keep them thriving.

So good! If you want a ton of different soft serve flavors to choose from this is for you. I love soft serve and this is the BEST around. It is VERY soft. If it's hot outside you'll have to eat quickly lol. I usually get the tuitti fruiti as it tasted like bubble gum and I love shunting bubble gum. Today I got twist as I've been on a twist kick and it's getting hard to find. Amazing soft serve and plenty of different options for all family members. I always get the soft serve as does my son but my husband gets shakes and flurries. Parking lot is very small and can get congested if it's busy FYI

Wonderful little place, I’ll be back for sure. Get some ice cream or fried snacks and sit on the nearby picnic tables to enjoy. Reminded me of my childhood visiting the walk-up A&W’s in backwoods Wisconsin! Had a great chocolate shake and loved my order of mini corn dogs, fried just like at the fair (about six pieces in each order). I also ordered deep fried mac and cheese bites which were ok, but too salty for me, not enough cheese flavor, I won’t get again. Overall 10/10. I’ll slowly eat my way through the rest of the menu!

Yelp
This ice cream was delicious! Totally worth waiting in line. We also got the cheese curds and Mac and Cheese bites, which were also fantastic! The shop is old and could use some love. However, prices were fair, and everything was so great. We will be back for sure to try all of the other flavors. They have their own parking lot, but it was full. Therefore, we parked up the street. But street parking was free and easy to find. It also was not too far away. There are not many places to sit. But they do have two tables and a bench.

Shea C.

Yelp
Delicious ! Way better than the larger competitors! Also you can buy pup cups and the funds go to helping pooches. The staff are crazy friendly and the food tasty !!! Definitely a recommend if you're craving an ice cream treat or a meal on the go !

Naomi B.

Yelp
I LOVE Conny's they have the best ice cream in the city. And also there is always a line supporting the small businesses. If you're there in the morning the owner is also there and super friendly. Just overall great service and amazing ice cream. I always leave a big TIP for the kids working there. So if you're looking for an amazing ice cream place to try go to Conny's you won't regret it!

Keith E.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream at great prices. Classic style place where you order and wait outside, no inside seating. I haven't tried their food yet but will next time I'm in the area.

Justin J.

Yelp
While visiting the twin cities, we wanted to get something sweet for the afternoon. Upon looking at reviews, we decided to stop by Conny's. The variety of flavors they had for soft serve was surprising. We got the coffee and the vanilla cone with the coconut dip. I would recommend the flavored cones over the dip personally, but they are both very good. About average on price but this place had a steady flow of customers on one of the first nicer days of the year.

Matthew A.

Yelp
Great selection of soft serve ice cream flavors. Dipped cone flavors were also terrific. Sadly small cheese curd servings..

Lindsay E.

Yelp
I was an out-of-town visitor in Mayout-of-town, staying with family and checking out Como Park when I wanted to get my children a little treat (and myself a little snack). Conny's hit the spot, especially with the fried cheese curds! The parking lot is small, and we were able to get the last spot available when we arrived. The line took us maybe 10 minutes (standing outside), but that meant I had plenty of time to choose which ice cream flavor to get. My kids each got chocolate, and I chose cheesecake, which I wouldn't recommend if you have a choosy sense of cheesecake flavor. The artificiality of it came through, but thinking back, I should have known that cheesecake is a tricky flavor to get right in soft serve. The fried cheese curds, though, were perfect! I wish I had gotten more! Especially on the nippy day, they really hit the spot being all warm and salty and the perfect little bite size. The shop was great for a such a small, independent haunt. It's obvious the locals love it. Stop by for a quick treat, but maybe bring wet wipes if you plan to eat in your car. Those ice cream cones can get really messy! There are a few tables near the shop, but that's all for seating. No bathroom access, either, so plan accordingly!

Jenny G.

Yelp
Simply delicious soft serve at Connie's Creamy Cone! They have an insane amount of soft serve flavors so you can try something new every time you visit. There was a line but service is fast and efficient, making the line move way quicker than I thought it would be. We got a vanilla cone and a crunch cone which was the perfect end to a hot day in May! The crunch was a great topping to my vanilla cone- it's peanuts and sprinkles and ever since DQ got rid of it, Connie's is the only place I know of that still serves it. Reminds me of my childhood and it tastes so good! In addition to traditional ice cream fare such as sundaes, cones, and shakes, they also have a food menu with items like burgers and fries. They do have a few picnic tables but seating is limited so most people either stand to eat or take it to go. We will be back to try more delicious and affordable treats!

Yelp
Sundays are huge!!! Easily enough for 2 or 1 teenage boy. Fast, tasty and not expensive. The trifecta. We'll be back. I can see how there is a line around the block in summer. About 10 parking spots... so be prepared to walk.

Dan D.

Yelp
I've discovered a great ice cream destination that apparently was a hidden secret from me for 35+ years. Located near Como Lake in St. Paul is Conny's Creamy Cones! This is a historic place that apparently flew under my radar for far too long! Let's just say 24 flavors of soft serve! Yes, 24! Plus every iteration of how to enjoy said ice cream. Then add on burgers, fries and more. Don't forget the prices are from a bygone era. How do they do it?! I had a peanut butter cup flurry. It was tasty maybe not as jam packed as a DQ blizzard but I still enjoyed it and emptied the cup. I look forward to sampling their grill and fried items in the future and am glad to know I am just 15 mins away from this local gem.

Charlie P.

Yelp
This is our favorite ice cream shop in the twin cities, maybe ever! The soft serve is amazing and you can pretty much create whatever you want. We always get sundaes, highly recommended! The brownies taste fresh and the ice cream is so creamy

Chassidie L.

Yelp
The ultimate epitome of a classic American corner store. They call themselves "the sweetest place in the neighborhood" and they are definitely right! Never have I been to a place with such tasty soft serve ice cream that is inexpensive and diverse! They have a huge selection of flavors (24 to be exact). From Apricot to Cotton Candy, fruity to nutty, dipped cones to topped cones, they have it all. Not only do they have soft serve, they have different desserts too! Such as, banana splits, milkshakes, rootbeer floats, flurrys, smoothies, you name it! And if you're looking for a cheap quick bite, they also have burgers, hot dogs, cheese curds, fried pickles, and mac & cheese wedges! Trust me when I say, you cannot beat the deals! All of their items range from $1-6, and they're tasty. The long lines can speak for themselves too!! If you're ever in St. Paul, definitely check out this spot!

Stacey D.

Yelp
Conny's creamy cone has been on my list. My husband grew up not far away and would walk over here for ice cream. Conny's didn't list anything as dairy free so this lactose intolerant individual had to make sure there were no other plans after. I went with a small soft serve pistachio cone and enjoyed it. My husband ALWAYS gets butterfinger and cookie dough flurry. He does not share. We both got smalls and it was plenty of ice cream! I can totally see why people love this place and hope it lasts for many more summers to come! I'll definitely visit again if there's more dairy friendly options!

Terri L.

Yelp
Soft serve ice cream for life! Many of the places in the Twin cities have ice cream but not specifically soft serve. Conny's is super affordable and a cute little spot near Como park. They have so many flavors... 30+ flavors. Also if you need savory, they have hot food too! I love the crunch topping, so much. The soft serve is so creamy and a refreshing treat in the summer. My favorite flavor is the chocolate pistachio with the crunch. Warning the parking lot is tiny but there is a lot street parking around. Great place to visit and get some ice cream.

Laura S.

Yelp
Great burgers and onion rings for the price. The soft serve ice cream was smooth and creamy. Lots of fun flavors. Nice little pit stop after visiting the zoo.

Luke G.

Yelp
Conny's specializes in soft-serve ice cream. If that's your thing, they'll have your flavor. There are 24 different flavors! I went here specifically because I love the taste of amaretto, and it was great! We also ordered the pistachio with crunch topping. However, the crunch didn't come as a topping. It was mixed throughout. Supposedly their specialty flavors are softer than vanilla/chocolate where they're able to dip the entire cone. Regardless, it didn't matter to me. It was evenly spread and I still equally enjoyed it. I maybe even liked the changeup better! My only complaint is there wasn't a lot of seating to hang out. Maybe it was COVID19 related, I'm not sure. Also, there are two windows. One to order, and one to pick up. The bottleneck was the second. It was crowded with people waiting for their cones after they ordered.

Lisa J.

Yelp
I love Connie's, they are so awesome, I recommend that everyone come down and try the ice cream

Amy J.

Yelp
Root beer float was perfect! Wouldn't necessarily stop for the food. But who needs food when you can get amazing soft serve.

Melissa A.

Yelp
We love this place, especially the cheese curds & many flavors of soft serve!! I usually get a blueberry shake only because it's the only place I can get it & it's always good!

Monique H.

Yelp
Conny's is full of cheeseburgers, hotdogs, and fries. Your all-American foods. But, this review is based solely on the soft serve. So. Good. Conny's has 24 flavors of soft serve to choose from along with a few "special of the week" flavors. They have various dips and a dip of the week as well. It was a hard decision, but I went with the amaretto. I was afraid the flavor would be too much, but it was mixed perfectly. This is so rich and creamy, not at all powdery tasting like a lot of soft serves can be. It's a hefty amount too! I'll be back to try the other menu items and definitely to try the other soft serve flavors.

Claudia V.

Yelp
Delicious and creamy soft serve! I wish I didn't wait for the last day of the season to go. I got a mango cone, which was subtle and not overly sweet. It's yummy. My ice cream buddy got a maple nut cone. It reminded him of a maple nut Goodie. He loved it. Also got a quart to go of the twist. The chocolate definitely overpowers the vanilla and is sweeter. All the employees were wearing a mask. Properly! I felt safe ordering from there. I'll be back next year!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Conny has something for every kind of ice cream lover, from dipped cones to sundaes, flurries and freezes. Who'd have thought soft serve could come in so many flavors? The pistachio is my favorite (so far). The soft serve is almost pillowy, beating DQ on texture for sure. And of course the price is awesome, you can treat the whole family to dessert for cheap!

Cathi M.

Yelp
I was thrilled to find a place that gives me a vanilla/chocolate swirl that reminds me of my childhood. Add a good chili dog and it made a meal!

Garrett Z.

Yelp
Great place to grab some excellent soft-serve. Lots of fresh flavors to try or you can go more advanced and get a banana split, sundae, or shake. Honestly though, with soft-serve and dipped cones available why would you choose anything else? If your a monster and would rather not eat ice cream at any time of the day, there is also a food menu that serves up diner classics like hot dogs and burgers. Great little neighborhood establishment close to Como Park. Trust me and take the detour!

Meghan K.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I was born, and I come here today 4/4/2023 for the first time in 9 years, and I ask for what I always ask for, a cherry dipped cone. Here they proceed to hand me this orange fowl smelling cone and told me it was freshly made and wouldn't accommodate me for much else, never will I be back, thanks Conny's creamy cone, NOT

Nancie M.

Yelp
Five stars for the soft ice cream, I had the blackberry and we also had ice cream floats chili cheese dog and chili cheese burger. This place gets super busy so patience is key. Covid standards apply only 1 picnic table for outside eating.

Phillip L.

Yelp
Best kind of roadside style burger and shake spot. I got a double cheese burger, Mac & cheese bites and a chocolate shake. Don't sleep on the root beer floats either. The weird part is this spot is either also packed or empty. Just need to find the right time.

Robyn L.

Yelp
Connys is a MUST! There is something for everyone here. They have so many flavors of soft serve, hard dipped cones, shakes, flurries, sundaes, and even some delicious appetizer type food like cheese curds. Connys is a neighborhood staple and driving by you can see it's popularity because there is always a line of customers. It's cheap and delicious and has a strong feeling of nostalgia associated with it. They are open seasonally- March through October. If you haven't been- get there!

Sara M.

Yelp
We waited in line for 45 minutes for ice cream that was just ok. This seems like a place you go for the nostalgia, not because the product is actually good. Conny's, if you're reading this, a 45 minute long line is ridiculous. Consider: 1. Slim down the menu to make it easier and quicker to make the food. 2. Have a backup available if your credit card machine freezes, as it did for us. 3. Add staff. Pausing the entire ordering line for 3 minutes every 3 customers because you need to make the food is ridiculously inefficient and frustrating. 4. Implement a system like Chick Fil A, where people order in advance and give you more time to make the food by the time they get to the window. I had high hopes for this place from Yelp reviews, but from the long wait time, very little parking, melted/bland ice cream, and no seating available, I was underwhelmed.

Xia Y.

Yelp
Always busy. Great prices. Delicious, creamy ice cream. Parking is a bit tight and they have about two or three picnic tables on the side so really meant for pedestrians on the go.

Alison K.

Yelp
Here's the real deal. I came here two days in a row.. wearing the same outfit. Because that's the week I had. Don't judge me, you have been there... and if not, then you ain't free and go read someone else's boring review. Day one- I got a medium cone with coconut and a side of cheese curds. If you don't know my groove then you don't know all there is to life is cheese, and coconut. Connys delivered on both my favorite jams. The medium cone was the perfect size and I felt like a kid licking that coconut love in a cone. The cheese curds stayed hot, cheese stayed melty- this is important in the cheese curd critic world. Day 2- I opted for a waffle cone of coconut. No need to explore flavors when perfection is known. This proved to be more than I should really engage in. To be honest the waffle cone was not as good as the standard cake cone. Waffle cone presents unnecessary challenges when circularly licking your ice cream. Next time I plan to get the Mac and cheese bites with my coconut cone. Their sundaes look divine. I may venture to try a sundae, made with coconut of course. My friend ordered the turtle one and that was smart. Messy but smart. Conny's is a gem, a local spot for the area natives. I've visited Conny's for decades with a recent return. Get yourself there and pick one of the many many flavors- whichever may toot your flavor horn.

Mark M.

Yelp
This place is TOPS! All the flavors are great and all the food is great. The mixers or blizzards or whatever they call them are SO GOOD. Dang - best soft serve shop in MN

Sarah W.

Yelp
We love Conny's!! It is amazing fair food without going to the fair! The food is hot and the ice cream is cold! Staff is great. Conny is also amazing. She is a huge community supporter and doing different fundraisers to support our community!!

Jillian Mae H.

Yelp
This is the BEST soft serve ice cream around Tasty ice cream and sandwich foods too I've been coming here for years and years and it never disappoints

on a d.

Yelp
Old timey neighborhood softserve ice cream joint that has a local following. After taking your order they begin milking the cow... yes, it's that slow! One order is taken and filled at a time - there's no efficiency or system to quickly filling orders. Lines are lengthy and after all that, the product is just so-so. Lots of flavors but I suspect that's thanks to artificially flavored ice cream.

Han P.

Yelp
I've been going here since I was really young, and it has never disappointed! The soft serve cones are to die for, and the price is very reasonable! The food is also not too bad too. I always get the chocolate/vanilla soft serve cone. However the milkshakes are delicious too!

Paige D.

Yelp
Connie's is the perfect place for ice cream on a warm day. There are so many options for soft serve and everything is so affordable and delicious. It's a neighborhood staple.

Mat S.

Yelp
Only because the ice cream was good Do not get the burger!! Unless you are looking for a high school cafeteria burger. Taste is very bland and the patty is spongy. Sad!

Tamara Q.

Yelp
We loved this place! It feels very nostalgic of the 1960's and had great ice cream for very good prices. I recommend the blackberry with a crunch (nut and sprinkles) mixed in it if you can. Stop in for a delicious summer treat! The menu for food (attached) looked great too.

Brian L.

Yelp
I know most folks seem to come here for their soft-serve ice cream, but I love their hot food. Just came back with an order of a chili cheese dog with onions, a fish sandwich, and onion rings. Really the best fried-fish sammich anywhere, on a soft, steamed bun. The chili cheese dog (NOT a coney!) is also pretty much perfect. I can't think of many places outside of DQ that serve them, and they have just the right amount of chili with a fresh, snappy hot dog. The cheeseburgers are also sublime. Next time you're there for a cone, try one of their hot foods.

William C.

Yelp
Cheaper than DQ but as good. This is high praise from me. I felt the portions were larger. The taste was at least as good. I had a medium cup of soft serve with chocolate hard shell covering. I wanted cherries topping also but they only had whole cherries and so I got about 5 of OK stemmed cherries that were a bit tart. My wife got a small cone and the price was about $6.00. The parking is a bit tight and there is only two tables on which to sit. So when you might expect others to be there park a block away and walk.

J.R C.

Yelp
When I ate dairy this was my go to spot. Far better than DQ. All the food was really yummy too. I had a burger but it seemed as tho it had been cooked from frozen. Stick with the treats and the apps and you can't go wrong!

Joe R.

Yelp
I love this place! Always busy, friendly staff and decent prices. I usually get a sundae or a cone.

Priya Z.

Yelp
Last night I made plans to go for a walk with a friend around 8. However my friend didn't show up till about 845pm so by that time it was getting dark and I'm not a huge fan of walking in the dark. So we started to drive and he said he had a great idea of where we could walk. I stressed how I'm not a fan of walking in the dark and he said trust me you're gonna enjoy this. Against my own judgement I went along mostly because I trust him and a little because I was curious as to what he had in mind. We drove father away from my place then I expected and we were at the light of dale and Maryland and I told him I've always wanted to try the ice cream here. Little did I know, that was exactly where he was talking me. Now it has been a little warmer the last few days so there was a line wrapped around the building at 8:55pm. I was kind of shocked. The line moved quickly so that was a plus, and I was amazed by all of the options. I wanted to try the black raspberry but I opted out and got the twist. The more I though about it, it's a soft serve not a sherbet so I don't know if any flavor other then chocolate or vanilla would taste good to me. Maybe next time I will try the black raspberry but I can tell you the twist was delicious! It's was like I had a blast from the past. My childhood flashed before my eyes. It was very pleasant. There isn't much seating which was kind of a bummer and there wasn't anything too special but I do realize it is an important part of the city. Overall I would recommend you come here at least once in your lifetime. It's like Mickey's Diner. The nostalgia is fantastic, but the rest is mediocre at best. Side note: BEST WALK EVER!!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Love this place we live right down the block prices are great food is good and the soft serve is amazing My favorite is the banana pie

Troy B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to make a stop at. Whenever I come here there is usually a wait for anywhere from 10-20 minutes, but it is well worth it. I mean I really love quaint and wonderful neighborhood spots, especially if itd a crowd favorite. I have to say that the cone on top of the place says it all. I mean they have the best quality shakes, fish sandwiches or burgers in town. Plus they are just down the road from Como zoo, so a stop during summer is really worth it.

Tony G.

Yelp
One of the few summer snack shacks around the twin cities metro. I appreciate that they aren't trying to be anything fancy, but rather are just a good old honest ice cream place. Lots of flavors to choose from if you're into soft serve and solid deep fried goodness on the food front.

Sandra R.

Yelp
Yummm love the twist waffle cone.. whenbm in the mood for something different I go for crunch dip.. mmmm

Athena S.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much, but this place is great. So many different flavors of soft serve, which is very unique. The soft serve is creamy and pretty thick, which is nice. We got blueberry and mango flavored ice cream as well as some fried pickles, and it was all really good. We will definitely be going back.
