Everything was fantastic: surroundings with views and landscape, core building, room which was a modern and confortable cabin, relaxing atmosphere, kindness and warmth professed by Aroa, great buffet restaurant and some delicious absolutely unbeatable dishes such as the lightly sautéed shrimp with crispy bacon and ajoblanco and the pullet cannelloni.

The location is definitely peaceful. The restoration looks lovely. We stayed in one of the cubes. The room is not a functional space. The bed is just about at ground level and you can only get in from the end of the bed. There is nowhere where you can sit and enjoy the view from your room. There are two “chairs” which cannot be used. The leather on one of these was stretched so hard it couldn’t be sat in. I notice many previous reviews mention this issue but obviously management has taken no notice and given customer comfort no regard. On arrival we asked if we could drive in to drop our luggage. The lady informed us this was not possible as only people requiring wheel chairs could drive their vehicle in. FYI - the rooms had steps to get in and were not wheel chair accessible! And, that very afternoon we saw someone who was clearly very mobile was allowed to park their car at their cube. |We did thoroughly enjoy the restaurant food & service.

Absolutely 100% the most beautiful location & hotel. It was a heaven. The only comment is that the cube room absolutely needs 'updating' as it's extremely 'worn and torn' and the floors could be cleaned much better. I think it's a fair comment that should be made but everything else from the service to the beauty to the delicious food and the little extras and focus on detail earns 5 stars and we will be back as soon as possible.

This was our best hotel experience these last years. Reality is even more impressive than the pictures show it. The whole place is absolutely unique, a peace of art, building a bridge from its ancient times as an Hermitage to contemporary architecture. A peaceful oasis which makes you forget the world outside. Extremely quiet, well entertained and clean. And above all: very friendly and helpful people, taking care of everything. Besides the pool they have a table tennis and table soccer, there’s a library and a large room with an open fireplace. Dinner is excellent with a good selection of wines focusing on the region. Breakfast could hardly be better with homemade cakes, different types of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice of course. During the day they offer a special menu with several light dishes that they serve at the pool. In its surroundings you can do some walking, hiking and mountainbiking above all. We made a daytrip to the coast, visiting the Papagayo Garden in Benicarlo amongst other things which we can really recommend if you travel with children.

This is a truly unique place to relax, enjoy nature and experience a beautiful blend of modern architecture with tradition and history. It is also a perfect place for a romantic break.||||We stayed for 5 days in January in one of the cubes. The cubes are fantastic. You wake up and see the marvelous views in front of you and you have a fireplace that is perfect to relax after a day's hike. The bed / tatami is very confortable and the bathroom is spacious and well-equipped with nice toiletries. There is WIFI and everything is clean and carefully designed. On the downside, the blinds are not very thick so they do let quite a lot of light get in in the morning, so if you are a light sleeper, do bring a sleeping mask.||||The rooms are so nice and confortable that you can stay there all day long, but there are other very nice places within the hotel: there's a very confortable library, a great restaurant, a super cool living room with a big fireplace and many sofas where you can be alone or with friends and have a drink, a chapel where you can spend some moments of silence or you can sit in one of the confortable outdoor chairs to contemplate nature. (There's also a beautiful pool but we went there in the winter so didn't use it).||||There's literally nothing around the hotel, so you need to bring a car. There are wonderful places to hike nearby (20KM) - go to Beceite and try "la ruta del Parrizal" it's very much worth the while. The hotel restaurant is very good so you can eat there every day, but if you want to try something different you'll need to drive some miles. ||||Service is excellent and very warm. Don't expect a cold and extremely obliging typical luxury-hotel service. The staff at Consolación are professional indeed and they are incredibly nice and helpful, but they are not servants, they own the property and they are warm, close and down to earth. There is no room service and you need to bring your luggage to your cabin, but of course they clean your room everyday and leave it impecable.||||I very much recommend this place. It's indeed a unique experience.

After staying in Barcelona for 4 days this hotel was an a welcome retreat. The first thing you might notice after settling in after being in the city is how complete the silence is.||||The rooms had slate floors, but they provide slippers if you didn't bring any. An in-floor bath is present. A separate shower is located in the bathroom. Beds are floor level, but comfortable. The cube has a balcony and two seats you can enjoy the view with. While the rooms come with AC/heat, there is also a fire place inside.||||I would highly recommend getting dinner there - the tasting menu is a good choice. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style with cured meats/cheese/yogurt - typical food.||||Also check out the common room adjoining the main hotel building - its a casual place to enjoy a wine or drink.||||||I was initially under the impression there wasn't much to do around here - but after visiting I regret not booking a longer stay as we found you could probably spend a few days there. A few notable activities:||||If you enjoy outdoor activities, Beceite is about an hours drive away. Getting down into the canyons can take about 2 hours on foot if you park at the last parking lot (8 euros to park). We were surprised to see a mountain goat lounging on one of the hills there.||||If walking around old walled cities is more your thing murella is a short (20 minutes) drive away in in the Valencian Community. The smoked/cured meats here were excellent.||||Hotel Consolacion is an excellent hotel for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding landscape.

We’ve had a marvelous stay yesterday. Kindly welcomed by Marta at her first day at the job, and by Gloria, the Hotel Manager, who upgraded our booking to a Cube for us to enjoy a better experience. Thanks so much Gloria! 🥰 The Cube certainly provides with an inmersive atmosphere. It’s your own luxurious cottage inside a nice forest, in the Matarranya zone, which is one of the most beatiful landscapes of the western Mediterranean, close to the Priorat wine region and nearby beaches. The forest is of outstanding beauty: pines, different oak species and aromatic natural herbs like thyme, and it smells so good! We had a in rock tube -in the Cube, by a fireplace ready to fire if you fancy, and by a big french window with forest views, looking to south west, in case you want to spoilt yourself with those luxuries. We rested, after a walk around the nearest town of Mont-roig, very beatiful, at what they call the garage in the Consolacion -magnificently restored as a unique hotel, in front of a fire of cyphrus and olive tree wood. What a relaxing smell! We had dinner of tasteful local products later, with highly recomended local wines. We could not taste the Tel.luric local wine as there was not any bottle left, but offered another choice in the region, highly rated, that was a perfect alternative. We hope next time we find some left. After dinner and during the night we enjoyed a clear and clean sky, full of starts: the milky way looked gorgeus as the moon was due late. In my opinion, one of our best hotel stays. At the morning we enjoyed a good breakfast, with the quality of local products: a yummy taste of Tel.luric olive oil, of which we bought a bottle, and an ample tea selection, to gather energy for the next travel destinations following Gloria’s recommendations -She is an expert conoisseur and I recommend follow her advise, to better know and profit our Matarranya’s escape: a must include joy! Surely a must repeat soon!! 🤗
