I'd read several lists and articles recommending this bar before going so I was pretty sure I'd like it. Constantine managed to blow away my high expectations.
Unfortunately I don't have many photos of the awesome decor because that's arguably the best part of this swanky, gothic hotel basement-bar. There are plenty already on Google though and really no pic can live up to the actual experience of being there so just go.
I do thankfully have pictures of the excellent drinks we got. The first one, served in a tea cup, is called the Drink Me, a concoction of gin, green tea and flavors that were sweet and went down so smooth. Above is the Lumbersexual, a citrus vodka drink that was tart and sharp with just enough sweetness to balance it out. In the second pick was my favorite, the Passion of the Corpse Reviver, a take on the classic drink with a citrus punch and happened to be the local spirit highlight on the menu. Above that is the Chill Pill, a rum, pineapple, coconut cream blend of deliciousness. Final pick are of the tots served with cheese sauce, delicious and a very generous portion for only $7.
This was, overall, one of my favorite bars I've been to in years. It's atmosphere is dark and gorgeous and really transports you to another place and time. The drinks were all delicious and wonderfully presented and the service was absolutely top notch. Our server was incredibly friendly and fun and really added to the whole experience for us. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the Twin Cities.
