A Guide to Boston Food Festivals, Summer 2023 | Eater Boston

"I'm pleased the free Boston Portuguese Festival returns to City Hall Plaza this Sunday as more than just a food fair — it brings comedians, musicians, folk dancing, and other cultural activities celebrating Portugal and the region's Portuguese community; there's a beer and wine garden where Costa do Sol vinho verde and Portuguese beers are sure to be popular, and the food tents serve traditional fare like bifana sandwiches (thin pork cutlets marinated in white wine, garlic, and spices) which the piece suggests are best washed down with Sumol passionfruit soda. The event, which first debuted in 2018, is back after a four-year gap." - Nathan Tavares

Refreshing experience at the consulate. Worked with Joana, who was extremely knowledgeable and professional. I arrived early and they started my appointment immediately. Very organized office and awesome staff. Made my appointment process very easy. Make sure you have copies of all your documents on hand for an easy experience. Thank you again Joana!

I made an appointment to get my first citizen card. This location seems to be the only location in the US with appointments available. I showed up a bit early and was able to be seen early. I was pleasantly surprised that I was also able to request my passport in the same appointment. Tania who helped me was very fast and amazing in general. My expectation was that I would be in for a long day and I was extremely pleasantly surprised with my visit.

I visited the Consulate to file a Schengen Visa application and it was definitely a great experience. I was assisted by Joana, and she was vey helpful, and even gave me some tips and recommendations for my upcoming trip to Porto! The process was fast and efficient! Best consulate that I have visited by far!

You schedule an appointment, take a day off only to wait long periods of time. Staff is rude, offer you nothing but an attitude and want to give you a cynical lesson of Portuguese more than anything else. Specially Ana, very sarcastic and wasn’t willing to help at all!!

The service is extremely slow and appointment times are not honored here, so plan to stay for hours. If there is someone else with the same first name (which is how they call out who's next) and they approached the counter first, they will be serviced first. **edit: they take walk-ins, and allows them to cut the line ahead of those with appointment

I have written over 10 emails in the past week, sat on the phone while it rings for 2+ hours at at time with no answer. Still waiting on any sort of update on my visa since it is going on 4 months now. Unacceptable.

I had an exceptional experience at the Consulate General of Portugal in Boston, thanks to Joana, who assisted me with my Schengen visa application. She was incredibly professional, polite, and friendly, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. Despite walking in without an appointment (after trying for several days to book one), I was seen within 45 minutes and Joana handled everything with care and efficiency. Having gone through VFS, BLS and other non-Schengen visa application in the past, I can say this was by far the most pleasant visa experience I've had. Joana is a true credit to the consulate. Her kindness and professionalism truly stood out, and I’m very grateful for the way she helped me. ~Akindele

The staff here are amazing and very helpful. They are absolutely trying their best to make improvements. They are busy so understand it’s probably best to make an appointment and they do accept walk-in’s.
