My suspicion is that the volume of passports being picked up here by Singaporeans is limited, which is why the collection process, though painless, is not completely streamlined. I went up to the front door, rang the bell to trigger the camera. I was a couple minutes early for opening, the guard let me know I was supposed to come through the side door, not the front. And to wait by the garage entrance for 9am. Collection took a couple minutes, they gave me my new passport to sign. Took old passport to punch holes in it. In and out in less than 10 minutes, including security, waiting, etc. Took longer for my uber to show up...

I just got off the phone with a lady named Diana about renewal of my passport. Her customer service was excpetional. It can be a daunting experience if one is over the hill with technology and she explained things with patience and eased my mind. Thank you so much.

I applied for a passport online and went to the consulate to get it. Initially, after my passport was approved, nobody reached out to me about when I could go to get it. I had to email the consulate to ask and I did get a reply within a day. The staff was efficient and polite when I went there to get my passport. My only complaint is that they didn't allow me to use the restroom. I had traveled 2 hrs to get to the consulate. I think they shouldn't be so petty about this.

I need a travel visa for a super long layover. I went in at opening time hoping to get it done before my work. I left plenty of time, and to my surprise, I was in an out under 8 minutes. There is no line and everyone was very nice and efficient. I actually arrived one minute early and saw employees walked into the secured door while I was waiting outside. Each one offered to help me. Holding a not so powerful passport, I have been to many consulates and obtained many many visas. This one is very small, but by far the best. It truly deserves a five star.

I had a very bad experience making contact with the staff. Three emails were sent, and none of them were replied until now. Two more phone calls were made afterwards. The staff member who answered the phone was not helpful or cooperative at all and hanged off the phone impatiently before I could finish speaking. I understand that there could be much work to do for them, but that's no excuse for mistreating the clients like this.

This was the first consulate/embassy that I’ve been to where the experience was actively positive. Like the Singaporean government in general, the consulate was efficiently run and highly competent. I received an email reply within 5 minutes of sending an email requesting an appointment. The consul-general was very friendly and greeted visitors with a big smile — this is how every consulate should be! A consulate is like the face of a foreign government and the Singaporean consulate in NYC has definitely excelled in doing just that. The staff even apologized for the “long wait” when the wait was nothing compared to that at many other consulate-like places (plus I was early for my appointment to begin with)! The security staff were friendly too. Anyway, overall very pleasant experience :) Makes me miss Singapore :S

Phone call was answered promptly. Person on the other side was courteous and patient. Visa service was excellent! I received a call within minutes of my passport being delivered to their office, confirming receipt as well as informing me that another piece of document was needed, which I could submit by email. Received passport back with visa very punctually!! Efficient and reliable.

Yelp
Now see, "Yay! I'm a fan" may not accurately describe my feelings about this place since it is kind of difficult to fan a consulate, but it is a solid 4 stars nonetheless. What strikes me about this consulate is, how much it reminds me of a home. It's a very homey feel. You have to press the buzzer and they'll open the door for you, you'll be the only one lounging on the sofa in what looks like a living room while you wait for a visa officer to see you, browsing through some interesting books on their bookshelf and admiring the tapestry work on the walls. Hell, they almost even offered me some tea. Just kidding. :) -Very easy, clean procedure -Cheap! Only 20 bucks -Quick as a wink: You go in- submit documents- they give you a little receipt - you go with the receipt a few days later to collect passport. Voila! http://www.mfa.gov.sg/newyork-consul/

Yelp
One of the best service providers that I have engaged with so far. They are fast, responsive and polite. They answer all your queries with equal diligence as they process your request.
