The Freshest Hotels in Florence

"The Continentale hotel is a Lungarno Collection hotel, which means it’s a Salvatore Ferragamo hotel — but this is a hotel that is determined to win you over on its own, without coasting on a reputation earned in the fashion world." - Mark Fedeli

Continentale

"This hotel’s couldn’t-be-better location in the heart of Florence—in fact, at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio on the North side—means that its rooftop bar has incomparable 360-degree views of the Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo, the Florentine hills, and the Ponte Vecchio. The 43-room Continentale is luminous, with a chic contemporary look made comfy by cushioned white sofas and gossamer white drapes flowing from luxurious four-posters piled high with pillows. Guest rooms have freestanding full-length lacquered mirrors and raw-oak floors; bathrooms have square white-stone sinks and walk-in showers with thunderous water pressure."

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Continentale in Florence. The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city, just steps from the Ponte Vecchio and within walking of everything. Our room was beautiful – modern yet charming. The bed was especially comfortable. The staff were all incredibly helpful and welcoming. We loved the roof top bar and would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Florence!

this is my first time in Florence and I’m so happy that I picked this Hotel. It definitely came highly recommended by friends. The location is the best. My favorite part was the staff. It made it seem like we were all friends. They took care of me from A-to-Z. The concierge service they offer is definitely top-notch. I highly recommend this to anybody. Especially if you’re traveling alone as well. It has one of the best rooftop bars in the city. The views are spectacular. I can’t wait to get back.

The Continentale was the perfect hotel for our stay in Florence! The room was fantastic and well-appointed. The staff from top to bottom were professional, helpful and welcoming. It is located within a very short walk of all of the museums, restaurants and shopping and could not be more convenient.

Elegant and gracious hosts in the best part of town.Very helpful, great rooftop bar. Easy walk to all major sights and piazze and right on the river by the Ponte Vecchio. Florence is obviously a must-see on the Grand Tour of Europe, and hotel Continual offers location with privacy and quiet streets

Google
We had a fantastic two nights at this perfectly appointed small hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly from arranging car parking, providing water, booking museums and rooftop to watch the fireworks. Our room was beautiful, had a river view, clean and modern and well located for walking the city. |A very special place.

My mother and I had a great experience during our stay at this hotel, made all the more memorable thanks to Luca, whose kindness and hospitality went above and beyond!!||From the moment we arrived, Luca was there with a warm welcome, always ready to help with our bags, call a taxi, or offer helpful local tips with a smile. While I'm not sure what his official title is, Luca truly seemed to be everywhere — opening doors, coordinating logistics, and making guests feel completely taken care of.||It’s rare to encounter someone so consistently thoughtful and attentive. He brought a personal touch to the hotel experience that made it feel less like a stay and more like a home away from home.||If you're considering booking, I highly recommend it, not just for the comfort and location, but for the incredible service from people like Luca. Thank you for everything!

Google
Gorgeous hotel and the rooms are so well designed. Perfect location. Only issue was the staff. They could care less…if you need anything plan to wait a long time. If you want a smile - forget it. If you need assistance, they will let you know when they are ready to help (could be a while) and if you wanted any sort of welcome, how are you, have a great day - not happening. ||||So sad as this property is amazing but the staff sucks all the goodness out. A change in staff and management would boost this hotel back to what it should be.

This hotel was fantastic - far better than what the pictures on the website show! Rooms we very comfortable and a great size with large bathroom and views over the river and bridge. The service from Benedetta and Roberto was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble.

Yelp
Good view depending on where you sit in the rooftop bar. The drinks were average quality.

Yelp
Beware! Nice hotel, but management will not take responsibility for any wrong doing whatsoever. Regardless of what happens, it will be your fault. Watch your belongings and don't expect honesty. I'll spare the details, but after a week's stay and regular travel to Florence, this tainted our perspective. Really unfortunate.

Yelp
Perfect place to go for aperitivo and drinks on the 6th floor terrace. Good views of Il Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, river, and surrounding Tuscan beauty. Relaxed environment for just chilling. The staff is very friendly. The drinks are a bit pricey, but totally worth seeing the view and enjoying the chill atmosphere. It's a small space but it makes it that much more intimate. Don't worry if there's no space on the couches along the perimeter, it's not a long wait for a free spot. We must've waited only 5 minutes and got to enjoy the view before sunset.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Hotel Continentale and it was one of the most amazing stays of our trip in Italy! The hospitality was first class! The staff that greeted us at the door, check us into our room, helped us with our tours of Firenze, and served us cocktails on the roof top were all so friendly, accommodating and helpful. Our room was beautiful, the four poster bed was charming and the view of the Arno river and the Ponte Vecchio bridge was stunning. We will definitely be returning to this amazing property and Firenze in the near future! Thank you to Enzo, Daniel, Federica and Luca for making our stay so magical.

Yelp
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Hotel Continentale. After weeks of traveling through Europe, this is by far my favorite hotel we've stayed at. The rooms were gorgeous and of the baby-making variety. Sweepingly romantic with a sheer drape canopy and in a warm, non-sterile white, you feel completely encapsulated in a private cocoon built for two. The traditional crank windows open to beautiful vistas of the river, Florence's famous bridges and lush hills in the distance. Once you exit the hotel, all of Florence is at your fingertips from cafes and eateries to small mom n' pops and H & M. The Piazza Della Signora is a 5 minute walk away as is the Piazza Della Republica. Another 5 minutes beyond that and you're at the majestic Duomo. You can go with a breakfast package for an additional 12 Euros per person a day, but honestly, it wasn't that great and you had to go to the sister hotel across the street. You're better off going to the Signora and going to the Perseo Bar for a traditional Italian coffee experience and a sweet roll for 4 Euros. Aside from boasting an awesome location, the room's WIFI was free, fast and furious.

Yelp
Lovely, lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, whether it was directions, booking restaurants, and, in our case, helping us switch rooms. They have these cool electric shades that are built in between the double-paned windows. Very nice system, until it stops working. As our room overlooked the Arno, it was incredibly light at night, and with our shade stuck in the 'up' position, that was not going to work! They were incredibly accommodating and moved us to a room which was much larger and, as a corner room, had a view of the Arno and of the city. Unfortunately, as it was winter, their rooftop lounge was closed, so we couldn't enjoy that, but the hotel really shined in its service and the location really can't be beat!

Yelp
Whereas I have not STAYED at the hotel itself, I have friends who have and have been there on numerous occasions for aperitivo and drinks on their amazing panoramic terrace. The inside itself is modern cool and super sheek, you feel like you are entering another world - breakfast at tiffanys mind you! Imagine heaven and a great moscow mule.. that's Hotel Continental! I recommend saving it for a special occasion, dressing up nice and showing up around 7-730 to grab a seat next to a stunning, truly stunning view. Staff is super nice and attentive and they give you chunks of great parmignano with your drink.

Yelp
This is one of the most amazing rooftop bars we've visited. Florence is hot, and this place is shaded, breezy, modern, un-crowded, staffed by nice people and serve a great mojito. We discovered it walking across the horribly crowded Ponte Vecchio on holiday. Highly recommended and really a great place for photos. A welcome relief from the crowds! :-) Highly recommended for sunset. I toast you!

Yelp
Hotel Continentale was the best hotel by far of our trip through Paris, Barcelona, and Florence! The staff was friendly and helpful at this small boutique style 43 room hotel. They were always there to greet you and assist with any bookings for restaurants, taxis, etc. We upgraded to the room over looking the Arno river which is well worth the extra expense. The room was awesome, very modern feel with new furniture and fixtures. Our shade, which was inside the window between double glass, was not working which made it difficult to sleep. My wife called and they had us moved to a larger corner room which was even better than our last one. Now that is GREAT customer service! Unfortunately the seasonal lounge was closed because it was raining but the view from our 4th floor room gave us the same feel. Their workout facility was also closed which I was bummed about, but the room and hospitality more than made up for it.

Yelp
Great rooftop bar with amazing views of cities. Best mixed cocktails we had in Italy.

Fran S.

Yelp
I totally disagree. Over priced and they have low seating on the balcony so it's not like you cN drink and look out. $18 euro drinks $12 euro glasses of wine.

Yelp
The rooftop terrace of Hotel Continentale in Florence near Ponte Vecchio is an amazing place to have a few drinks before or after dinner. The views are magnificent overlooking the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno river. The decor is elegant and the atmosphere cosy. The drinks list was good, but the prices pretty high - 12 € for a glass of sparkling wine, 16 € drinks. A must see place when it's good weather!

Yelp
This review is solely based on my aperitivo experience on the rooftop terrace of this luxury hotel. First off, the view is breathtaking- belissima vista! You can see all of the most prominent structures from this central location. While there is ample seating, only one side of the long and luxurious couch had working heaters- making our experience even more intimate. The barman, while was never actually seen, made my Bellini and my fiancé's continental exceptionally well. Meanwhile, the server was just present enough and very kind in offering us a plush blanket to keep warm, but the heater was enough for us. The prices are on the higher side, as to expect with this kind of service and ambiance. The food given along with the drinks were curious chips made from vegetables, while interesting to look at, not all too appetizing.

Yelp
Excellent place for an after dinner drink. The view from the roof bar is to die for and the night we were there a full moon of light. They close early, 10:30 pm, but at $20 a drink I guess that's not a bad thing!
