"The bedrock of Contra is a mix of creativity and science, as designed by two Cal Poly college friends, Julie Nguyen and Paul Del Mondo. Nguyen is a true beverage scientist who uses her education and her experience to craft “beverage formulas.” Each drink is served cold, over ice, and with an oat milk base. Some come from a tap, while others are shaken. Because there’s no espresso to produce, baristas spend more time with visitors than with the beverage machine. And those who camp out in the cafe aren’t always tied to a laptop, but bring paints, paper, games, books, and other creative endeavors." - Jordan Morosco

It's the perfect place to catch up with some friends. I got an ube thai tea with coffee (the worker's rec) and it's super unique! There were plenty of tables and chairs, but I didn't see many outlets. There's a cute stationary store in the back of the shop too.

One of my favorite coffee shops if I want an iced coffee. I've never tried the teas but my coworkers who don't drink coffee are hooked on the teas. Great place to study or meet a friend for coffee. The foxy Cleopatra is a must try if you enjoy Thai tea and I like getting is with extra coffee. So tasty 😋. I also got my husband the dirty horchata which is a great coffee as well!

Google
I stopped by here on a whim after looking for a coffee shop in the area. The creative drinks on their menu caught my eye. I ordered the dirty horchata. Service was courteous and prompt. Although I enjoy sweet drinks, it was a little too sweet for me. The shop is pretty spacious compared to your average coffee shop. Parking can be a little tricky. There is a lot next to the shop but it requires payment (should be ok if you are just quickly picking something up).

Great place to come and study while grabbing a tasty cup of coffee! Tons of options to choose from and plenty of seating areas. Parking on the street is a bit difficult so I would recommend the public parking areas. Music is always playing so if you are coming here to study I advice you to bring headphones unless you are okay with the music. Aside from that, enjoy a good cup of coffee upon arrival!

Google
Great find just off the orange circle. Way better then the coffee you can get close by. All coffee on tap and great stop on a hot day when your looking for a refreshing drink. I got the Gold Rush which was a Vietnamese style coffee which was just the right amount of sweetness and my son got a juice box which had hibiscus tea blend that he really enjoyed.

Google
So this is probably because I am a black coffee kind of guy, but most of their drinks are too sweet and/or are in general not working for me. I just get their Stay Woke and stay woke because it's pretty strong. Still, I have experimented with their matcha and other flavored drinks as well as pastries and I'd say it's not quite hitting the mark for the price. The service is pretty good but the outstanding part is the atmosphere. I love that they have a stationary sub-store in the store and a nice free library as well as good lit for sale in the store. A pretty busy - beehive-like - atmosphere to work in, if that's your thing.

Google
A great cozy coffee shop. I got the foxy Cleopatra which is thai tea and coffee together and it was the perfect consistency. I will admit it was a strange initial taste but quickly grew on me. All the drinks are served with oat milk so you don't have to worry about milk issues.

I was in the area checking out the Hillbert museum and came through the orange town square for lunch and a coffee afterward. Picked this spot among the many coffee options because of the high rating. It was stuffed with what I believe were either Chapman U students or local high schoolers, getting harder to tell the difference as I age. This is an all cold brew on draft place (also matches and non coffee cold drinks). No espresso drinks. My cold brew was very good with delicate flavors (had it black) the kids seemed to prefer the more sugary confections. Oh to be a student again! They also have a little stationary store in back.

Yelp
first timer! drinks: their menu is quite extensive! it was so hard for me to choose. love iced coffee, love milk tea, not toooo much of a match girlie (so if you are, come here!!!) - i got the vanilla matcha drink (sorry i forgot the cute name for it) and my bf got the winter special drink hazelnut milktini. like i mentioned im not TOOO MUCH of a matcha girlie, but i wanted to try it, and by the help of the cashier, he helped sweeten the drink up for me and so i like it! my bf's drink was super good on its own. 10/10 for sure ambiance: so many people studying, low volume, many places to sit. the decor and vibe was really cool service: so fast and quick! they literally have the drinks on tap (milk on tap? maybe?) it's crazy but i like it! anyway, definitely worth the trip out if you're not a local. and if you are, then make this spot your third place :)

Yelp
I saw an instagram post on this coffee place and it looked so cute so I was so excited to check it out! Walking in the place was pretty quiet it felt a little awkward. The employees weren't at all welcoming they were just chatting away. Didn't feel very welcomed. We go the flight which includes 4 drinks. I honestly wasn't that impressed by the drinks. They were just okay.

Yelp
really cool inside aesthetic with vinyls everywhere really clean and very nice workers :)

Yelp
Contra Coffee & Tea is an awesome Filipino and Vietnamese owned spot serving up some fresh and innovative drinks! This spot is located at Orange Circle where there is street parking all around or some parking lots as well. Inside, they have a lot of seating, art, books, and even a vinyl and stationery store in the back of the shop! For their menu, they definitely have some of the most unique sounding names for their drinks. Wifey and I opted to try the Kuya Latte (Ube Oat Milk) and the That Orange Stuff (Vanilla Oat Thai Tea). Both drinks were great with the right notes of classic Asian flavors! Overall, this spot is definitely one of the cooler coffee shops in SoCal. I love stopping by to grab a drink and to look at all of the stuff they have inside the shop. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back to support next time we are in the area again!

Victoria L.

Yelp
What a cute spot to come and do some work or attend the ube fest. We got the latte with ube and thai tea. It was delicious and I definitely want to come back and try some much more on the menu. I also ordered the pumpkin mochi donut which was so soft and not too pumkiney. It was a great thing to pair with the latte. The service is so friendly. I thought I lost my hydroflask there and they looked but did not have it. They were so sweet about it though.

Jaeden Y.

Yelp
Stopped by for coffee this time and it was SO GOOD! This is where to get the perfect sweet treat drinks! Service was super friendly and place was poppin like it was last time. The drink names are so unique and fun too! They also have a cute stationary shop at the back of the shop which was open this time! I ordered the "Welcome Great Pumpkin" and it was delish! They ran out of the pumpkin syrup they drizzle around the cup so they gave me caramel instead. There was a slight pumpkin flavor but it was mostly just sweet and cinnamon, totally fall. It was still a very solid latte despite not being as pumpkin-y as I wanted. The sweetness was a little on the sweeter side but it's likely because they use oat milk for their lattes. I honestly prefer my lattes on the sweeter side though so I thought it was amazing! Also it came with a cute little pumpkin decoration if you look closely at my pic. They really do a great job with their presentation and overall vibe! 5/5 I definitely think this is my go to sweet treat drink/coffee spot whenever I'm at the orange circle. I will be back for sure!

Yelp
I've been to Contra a couple times now and unfortunately was disappointed with the drinks both times. At a glance, the menu flavors sound unique and like they'd be a good combination, but something always seems to be missing. Perhaps its the tea and coffee combos, maybe the tea/water ratio is a little off. The drinks just lacked depth. The seating area and surrounding Old Town Orange are a huge plus though. I also love the little shops in the back of the cafe. Staff are always very friendly. The area and cafe are quiet and good to study or meet in - they don't get too loud, even when busy. It might be better to go for their simpler, non-tea menu options.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This coffee shop at the orange circle was too cute! they had a variety of teas and coffees on their menu plus mochi donuts, and other pastries. It was a pretty spacious spot with lots of seating and a wall full of vinyls, which I thought was really cool. There was a line, but the service was quick. And we got our drinks pretty fast as well. DRINKS: I got the strawberry Matcha and my boyfriend got the best friend. Both were solid 10s!! I will say I enjoyed the best friend more, as I have never tried anything like it before. You can also add espresso cubes btw! For .75 more. Overall, sweet spot and will be back again!

Bridget M.

Yelp
I love this place! They offer so many choices for iced coffee and tea. The staff is always willing to change up your drink if there's a problem with it. Inside you'll find a lot of different seating arrangements and tables. You can choose how comfy you want to be depending on what you plan to do there. Many college students and people who work from home like to park here with their laptops and books. I would say the only thing I wish they did was offer a couple of hot drinks , but that's just me! Haha

Yelp
Stop my heart, this place just gets better. Famous for its coffee on tap, Contra has my vote for trendiest cafe in Orange County. While my previous review still rings true, I figured it was time to share an update. Contra is a decently sized coffee shop, sitting just outside the Orange Circle. My girlfriend's and I visited this past weekend after exploring the nearby farmers market. We happened to stop by during their ube fest, which included desserts from 3-4 local vendors. To celebrate the special occasion, I ordered the Ate Latte, an ube oat milk Thai Tea latte. This bevy was the trifecta: thai tea, ube, and caffeine. Couldn't ask for more. Since it's incredibly tough to just choose one drink from their extensive menu, they also serve their drinks in a flight. You can pick four items from their tap list to narrow down your favorite.

Ken H.

Yelp
A very quiet coffee place that sells croissants too. Rumor has it that tea can be ordered. I had to test the rumor. I ordered a flight of tea. (I might have thrown in a butter croissant--that's my gosh darn beeswax though.) This flight of tea came out to me as quickly as one says the last two letters in the word tea. I felt obliged to begin drinking the tea tea-mediately because the instant appearance of the tea startled me. The tea refreshed me with sip; one could say this flight aimed to teas, wink. The butter croissant radiated a flakey, buttery, soft beauty. This bread sat there serenely as a model posing for a community college painting class. I know I am a better man for beholding & tasting a croissant that buttered my senses so completely. Contra, we should do this ^ again sometime.

Nancy M.

Yelp
I wish it didn't take me so long to try this place! Their coffee and tea drinks on tap and unique and I love the Asian influences in the flavors. I tried an oolong iced coffee and loved it. I think they recently expanded their seating so that's a bonus! I did come to do work but it was quite loud. I'd suggestion bringing noise canceling headphones if you're easily distracted by sound.

Titan N.

Yelp
There are LOTS of people sitting here, and yet you can still probably find a table. The place even has books for you to check out and little mini sofa chairs. Everything is just intentionally and gracefully put into place, interior-design-wise. They've got lots of "unusual" and experimental specialty drinks. I expected that they've experimented enough with their recipes that every drink was nice, balanced, and polished. I got the Ube Thai Tea, and honestly, I wasn't very impressed with the flavor. The Thai tea was weak, and the ube didn't compliment it well. The drink didn't feel creamy either and was quite watery. Won't be getting that again, but might give this place another try for their other flavor combinations.

Anna S.

Yelp
Contra is one of my favorite spots, offering a wide variety of drinks, from classic coffees to unique creations. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, perfect for both socializing and getting work done. The staff are friendly and impressively quick--my orders always come out within minutes, even when it's busy. Whether I'm catching up with friends or tackling some study time, Contra Coffee always delivers great service and a laid-back vibe. Highly recommend!

Sarah P.

Yelp
My friend and I ate near Orange and decided to come by this cafe. I ordered the vanilla matcha latte. Honestly, the drink was so milky and not good at all. I barely tasted any matcha and vanilla. All I tasted was milk. I get it that a latte has a lot of milk but I've ordered many matcha lattes before and it was never made like this. There was almost no flavor in the drink. The cafe is really cute though. Unsure if I ordered the wrong drink but maybe I'll try something else.

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Back again and love how the menu updates every so often. Just FYI the flight only applies to the TapList, so the Ate Latte and MC Squared are part of the Shaker Specials. If you're into stronger coffee, the MC Squared is great as it has Espresso Roast and Espresso Cubes. Ate Latte is an Ube Oat Milk Thai tea latte. SO GOOD

Kelly H.

Yelp
I love their free Wifi here, and I love how it's so simple to enjoy their little stationery shop in the back. I purchased a handful amount of stationery from that place. The workers are quite welcoming, and they know how to do their job. I got my first drink here. It was their ube latte. They also helped me put a straw in my drink to avoid splashing it on the white parts of my new dress. The place is a great place to study or chat with friends.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
This is my favorite cafe to frequent in the rare occurrence I am in the Orange area. The cafe has such a cute, hipster vibe to it and has a large variety of drinks from coffee on tap to fruity, refreshing teas. The menu is also very creative and fun to explore as you decide which drink you want to try. A unique aspect of this cafe would be the option to try our flights of different drinks. I decided to try the kuya latte which was a mix of ube and espresso with oat milk. The drink was so creamy with the ube flavors mixing well with the creaminess of the oat milk. I will definitely try this drink again. There were plenty of tables available on a Friday morning, and i love the decorated interior of art and murals on the walls. If you need outlet, i would suggest sitting near the windows. I can also see this being a cool hangout spot for after dinner in the d town Orange area. I cannot recommend this cafe enough!

Bhumika S.

Yelp
I'd give this place so many more stars if possible but alas i'm limited to 5. I feel like they're always out of the drink I want to order but somehow they give me something even better than what I come in wanting. No complaints ever I love basically all of their drinks and the staff is always so nice. Seating situations kinda rough depending on the day/time cause it does get a little busy but if it's not there's a ton of tables and seating. There's also such a cute little stationary store in the back that I love going to. They have the best stickers, pens, and notebooks and I always end up spending more money than I planned TLDR: 10/10 this place has my whole heart :)) (also sorry I can't remember the names of the drinks in the pictures)

Linh L.

Yelp
What a cute hidden gem in the historic strip of Orange! The perfect coffee shop for that fun bev that you need while browsing all of the shops on the strip. The Foxy Cleopatra (viet coffee with Thai tea): Quite the strange combo but it works! The Thai Tea is very subtle but the flavor is definitely there, so you will taste it. That being said, I'm not too sure if the coffee is doing much here. It is definitely not a sweet drink, it is kind of bland if anything. 7.3/10 The Best Friend (brown sugar matcha): At first sip, I thought it was WAY too brown sugary (as in I only tasted brown sugar--and the very artificial kind). But I came to really enjoy the combination, granted brown sugar and matcha together isn't really an all that out-of-this-world idea. It's not too sweet at all surprisingly, so if you like brown sugar more than matcha then I'd recommend trying this! 7.5/10

Carrie L.

Yelp
Cute place with a nice ambiance that most importantly allowed me to have my two dogs inside. I definitely appreciate they're accommodating for pet owners and their coffee is good too! Out of the flight, my favorites were the goldrush and the derozan. They have a good variety of flavors and created a great atmosphere to work in.

Valerie N.

Yelp
What a cute spot! Conveniently located in Downtown Orange, Contra is a quaint, hip cafe with tons of character. If you're coming to work from home or study, make sure to nab an all day parking (there is a parking structure a walk away or some curb spots), as most parking here is max 2 hours. There's not too much seating for large groups, but thankfully, my coworkers were able to find seats. It is a bit loud in here for working, but I found myself enjoying their playlist! I ordered Strawberry Fields, which is their strawberry matcha equivalent - it was a pleasant mixture of the flavors, leaning more faint on the strawberries. I'd visit again - love the options around the area.

Andrew N.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here last time, so I wanted to check out the other drinks while I was in town. Kuya Latte (5/5): Hands down the best Ube Latte I've ever had in my life. The Ube took over the coffee as it blended so well. However I felt that I had to sacrifice some coffee. I really love this place and I hope to try this cafe again.

Jonah W.

Yelp
The vibe of this place was so cool, and it was very opened compared to other cafes. I tried "The Bestfriend" (Brown Sugar Matcha Latte) with an expresso shot. The matcha tasted really sweet and high quality. I needed to study and even though they had music playing it still wasn't over bearing and it was good playlist too. Overall i can easily see myself coming back and they also have a community bookshelf and vinyl shop!

Anush G.

Yelp
I had high hopes for Contra Coffee but it unfortunately did not meet my expectations. Service was amazing and the atmosphere was modern and fun but the drinks were just not good, in my opinion. I can see why other people would enjoy this spot but it was definitely not my cup of tea (or coffee). The drinks were overly sweet (even when ordered half sweet) and just did not taste right. My sister and I ended up throwing our drinks out more than halfway full.

Gabby K.

Yelp
I'm very happy to report that after years of having Contra bookmarked it did not disappoint. Contra not only offers a super unique welcoming vibe, but also super relaxed to just hang. Unfortunately the day that I visited I couldn't stay a while but when I was waiting on my drink I was able to soak in the unique atmosphere. I loved that they have a room sections off for vintage items that can be purchased, it had items from 90s Levi's to vintage Disney items and all great priced I landed on the espresso matcha per the employee who was working through register at the time, he was super friendly with his suggestions and offered his fav picks. I def recommend contra when you're around the circle area!

Sharyl J.

Yelp
One of the cutest coffee shops in OC! I came by on a gloomy Sunday and it was filled with people studying. Luckily they have a bunch of seating so my boyfriend and I were able to easily find a spot. I ordered the flight and the portions are definitely larger than I was anticipating! (which is a good thing of course) Unless you are going to be there for a while, I do recommend sharing the flight. My flight consisted of Love Birds, Foxyclub, Strawberry Swing, and That Orange Stuff. I loved all of them! Will be back to try their matcha!

Rosa G.

Yelp
I am a regular here so here are my pros and cons list (+): * delicious coffee options * YOU GET YOUR WORK DONEEEE HERE * cute shops inside :) * different seating arrangements for your personal likes * drinks come out fast !! * nice and personable staff (-) * no outlets near some of the seating, there could be one like at the center pole thing imo. * seating does NOT sit up straight, its very, bendy?? * outlets near the couches and outskirts only. * no student discount thats it, i love this place though

Tiffany T.

Yelp
We stopped by Contra late in the evening. The shop has a stationary and another store in the back, which I thought was cool, but they were closed when we got there. There are also some books on the wall. There are quite a few tables, so we stayed to study. However, the music was really loud so it was hard to focus. There was also live music when we came, and I think we just happened to come during an event. It was pretty distracting for me, as I came with the intent of quiet study. Maybe I came at a bad time, but I felt like this was not the place for that. Service was ok, they seemed a bit distracted from chatting with each other. There were plenty of unique drinks, but what we got did not stand out to me.

Jeanette K.

Yelp
This cafe is the perfect place to get some work done or chat with friends. I love that it's located in the Orange Circle since it's walkable and near so many other stores. Parking is a little tricky right near the cafe, so I'd recommend just parking in the free structure nearby and walking the 10 minutes to get here. There's free wifi, outlets, and natural sunlight, but it's always busy so it might be tricky getting a seat for more than one person. My friend and I tried out the flight (11$), where we picked any 4 of the drinks off the left menu. The Princess Daisy (mango passion fruit green tea) and Strawberry Swing (strawberry green tea) were the two fruit teas we tried, and they were so good. I highly recommend Princess Daisy, since you get the nice balance of tea flavor and fruit. Lovebirds (coffee oolong milk tea) was pretty solid. Gold rush (viet coffee) was ... not good LOL. But it's okay, glad we had the chance to try out a variety! I also grabbed a strawberry fields, which had a strawberry cream foam on top of the matcha, which was super refreshing. Overall, I love that I discovered this cafe, and will come back. I wish the music was a little bit softer though.

Yasmeen E.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to check this coffee shop out and it's SO cute. They have two little stores in the back that are worth checking out. We loved each drink we got. My favorite was foxy cleopatra and my friend's favorite was the dirty horchata. The best part was the flight of four is actually a really good price! The staff there seem really nice and chill and the cafe is just a nice study area. On top of that, the downtown area was lovely to check out.

Aliyah Divine A.

Yelp
"the bestfriend" aka their brown sugar matcha latte is soooooo yummy def on the sweeter side but love that the sweetness comes from the brown sugar! said they mix unsweetened & sweetened ceremonial grade matcha w dis drink but I opted for all unsweetened matcha!!! (I'm a big matcha fanatic and love when my matcha lowk kinda tastes like grass LOOOOL that said, I am not a fan of sweetness coming from matcha so if you're like me too def recommend trying it this way!) def would come back

Thaila N.

Yelp
Really cute and unique concept for a coffee shop, with a bunch of different drinks on tap. There is ample seating, fast wifi, and bathrooms! Parking can be difficult in Old Towne Orange, but there is always something even if you have to walk a little bit. The strawberry matcha ("Strawberry Fields") was unique and like nothing I've ever had before! Instead of a strawberry compote, there is a layer of strawberry milk foam at the top of the matcha latte. So the strawberry flavor is subtle. I would love to come back and study here. :)

Jonathon Q.

Yelp
Energetic, buzzing - both words I would describe my visit to CONTRA. It was a quick in and out but I am glad I stopped in. The shop has an open feel to it and yet it was buzzing with activity. This seems like a great spot to plop and work - I saw everything from reading solo at a table to chatting across tables while taking a break from work. The only thing I didn't see was a place to plug power cords into - I might have missed it but come fully charged just in case. The coffee was delicious and quick! I like the concept where a lot of the options are out of a tap - almost like a "coffee brewery" feel. This made the line move fast so don't worry if it looks like a long line, it'll go fast. The staff were also great! Friendly and quick, I appreciated their haste. I'll be back!

Alex R.

Yelp
We actually were able to sit in store today so we decided to try the flights! Here's our rankings: From a non-coffee lover: 1. Cartoons and Cereal 2. Princess Daisy 3. Derozan 4. Foxy Cleopatra 5. Strawberry Swing (my least favorite of the fruit teas we tried) 6. Love Birds 7. Dirty Horchata From a Coffee Lover: 1. Foxy Cleopatra 2. Cartoons and Cereal 3. Love birds 4. Derozan 5. Princess Daisy 6. Dirty Horchata 7. Strawberry swing

Dave C.

Yelp
Contra is a great local coffee and tea spot near Orange Circle- plenty of light, ample seating, cool book wall, positive vibes and an embedded record/vinyl store inside. We actually like the brewed tea here better than the cold brew coffee on tap. The DeRozan and Princess Daisy are the current favs and they need almost no additional sweeteners. As for coffee, we've tried Stay Woke (which tasted a lot like Korean barley tea) and Kuya Latte amongst others. We try to stop here when in the area, as should you!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Contra Coffee and Tea is located one block northeast of the Orange Circle. They have a solid selection of drinks with interesting names. I had the Derozan (lychee rose black tea) after lunch at Euro Caffe. It tasted refreshing and met my expectations of a good drink. I had the $5.65 option since the $4.85 cup looked too small for me. We arrived and found the cafe busy and full, but we didn't wait in line for long. The ambience was vibrant at the time as people stayed inside to avoid the rain. Not affecting this review's rating, but when I walked back to my car, my hands got really cold holding my drink due to the winter rainy weather.

Joe I.

Yelp
YES! I have finally found a new favorite coffee place in the city of Orange. Its funny that this place has been around for years but I barely stumbled upon it because I happened to be walking my dog in the Circle and went down a street I have never walked down before. It is a bit of a hidden gem. My Goldendoodle, Java Bean, loved being in the store. He was constantly get requests for people to pet him which he parlayed in to hugs. The coffee is delicious! I had the Perfect Night. It is a delight for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. They also have these donuts that are pretty tasty. The dough is similar to a Krispy Kreme donut in texture. The ambiance is nice. There are chairs and tables as well as couches. They have artwork on the walls and I think they sell paper goods as well if you go to the back of the store. Its large enough that a little kid could probably wander around in while you enjoy a break from life's chaos.

Ching L.

Yelp
Amazing concept- coffee and tea flight! From our flight: - foxy cleopatra: Vietnamese coffee & Thai tea (though the Thai tea flavor overwhelmed) - gold rush: Vietnamese coffee (pretty standard) - princess daisy: mango passionfruit green tea (a little on the sweeter side but so delicious!) - lucid dream: medium roast cold brew (also standard) Place is pretty big and spacious but by the time we left around 1pm on a Saturday, it was packed and there were folks that were waiting on our table. Place was cold though, colder than the outside actually and customers kept leaving the door open. Thankfully, they did add hot drinks for the winter so you can always do that if you're feeling chilly.

Esther M.

Yelp
Love coming here for their flight version of teas! It helps you to try different flavors for just $11. My personal favorite that I always get is Princess Daisy (passion fruit green tea) that always hit the spot. Although you can't really adjust the sweetness level, majority of their drinks are not too sweet and have the perfect balance. The ambiance of this place is cafe style. It's typically always packed so might be hard to find seatings. But it's right outside Orange Circle so you can always walk around outside to find seatings. Definitely a lot of college students since it's next to Chapman University.

Linny P.

Yelp
Located in Old Towne Orange! There's street parking available, but it can be difficult to find during peak hours. I usually park at the parking structure close by which is about a 10 min walk. There's several tables inside and a small clothing store in the back by the bathrooms. I came on a Friday around lunchtime and it was pretty busy, almost every table was taken. They have a wide selection of lattes and teas. My friend and I decided to share a coffee flight where you can choose any 4 drinks from the Taplist. We chose Foxy Cleopatra, Lovebirds, Dirty Horchata, and Princess Daisy. Out of the 4, my favorite was the Lovebirds and Princess Daisy, which was a refreshing mango passion fruit green tea. We wanted to try the Kuya Latte but they didn't have any more so I'll be back to try that. The cashier was also super helpful. Even though it was busy, she took the time to go through the menu and provide her recommendations as it was our first time. Overall, will definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

Charity V.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, incredibly engaging with lots to see and plenty of seating. There were a lot of really unique options on the menu with tons of different flavor profiles. The only reason I didn't rank this higher is because I wish that there were more alternative milk options. Coconut milk would seriously be so incredible to have offered for guests.

Emma P.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because its roomy and employees were nice. I've been here once a long time ago. Today was my second time and probably my last unless I get a different drink next time and only if it's good. Even for a Tuesday at 4pm the area is busy. Is it just me or orange circle has become even busier these days? Parking took way too long to find and you have to be careful not to park at permit parking only streets. I parked across the street and did a short walk over which wasn't a problem. The place was packed upon entering. Lots of people studying. It's spacious and they do have a wall of books you can read, plus there was more stuff to look at towards the back but I didn't go that far back. A decent amount of tables and chairs but I didn't see a whole lot of charging outlets. I asked the worker for some recommendations and we decided on the ube oat milk latte. I'm always looking to find better ube coffee but this wasn't it. The sweetness wasn't the issue. It was the color which was dark and muddy not a nice vibrant purple, and the coffee flavor wasn't there. I wasn't convinced that oat milk goes well with ube. I wanted to drive down to bolsa and get an actual ube coffee but I didn't. Lol. I did stay for 2 hours to get some work done and oddly enough some websites worked and some websites didn't when I connected to their wifi. Sigh I decided not to bother anyone today by not complaining about my drink or the wifi issues. I'll give them 2.5 stars but ill round it to 3. If I ever come back a 3rd time and get a different drink then I hope it's better than the one today.

Yelp
What a GEM! I am totally in love with Contra!!! It is located in Old Town Orange, there is street parking as well as a parking lot across the street. Restroom is in the back and requires a key. The ambiance in Contra is very comfy, warm and inviting!!! The few times I've visited, there is always a line which is a good sign and the line is worth the wait. Customer service is always friendly, turn around time to get your goodies it not long at all. I absolutely love that they have plenty of good options which include a coffee flight which is hard to find. Foxie is my fave as well as Daisy. Everyone I know that has been to Contra have good things to say. I would definitely recommend and come back again!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place! It's so cute with a hint of vintage. It's pretty spacious inside and offers pastries. The coffee and teas on tap were amazing! I got the flight to be able to try and find one I liked. The Foxy, love birds and gold rush were my favorite! So unexpectedly delicious!! Can't wait to go back. The matcha was also really good. The only thing I'd say was not very good was their vanilla caramel latte. You can get that anywhere! Try what's on tap. And the staff was so nice! And helped me pick what they thought I might like.

Yelp
A huge location that has some small shops in the back! There was a pretty long line, and the shop was packed with people studying, all of the tables were pretty much filled. I went with the lovebirds, which is a coffee oolong milk tea and it may be one of my new favorites!

Yelp
The seasonal offerings at Contra are so satisfying! I always get the Ate Latte but the matcha offering was great. The vibe is always cool and the service is always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I love, love, LOVE Contra Coffee!

Yelp
What originally drew my friend and I to this coffee shop was the iced coffee flight which featured multiple drinks on tap that you can choose from. Unfortunately, the night we arrived was extremely cold which caused us to look towards their hot drinks. The nice barista recommended trying "Winnie the Pooh." The name of the drink alone made me smile. Winnie the pooh is jasmine green milk tea with honey and oat milk. Wow this was sweet, but not too sweet and the quality of the jasmine green tea was amazing. Not a lot of places can whip up a good tea, but this one did and for that alone, it gets 5 stars. This also a place to do any late night studying as the place closes at 10 pm on Saturday nights, a luxury given its near campus. But given the high volume of students that frequent this coffee shop, I highly recommend headphones. The only thing is that a couple yelpers mentioned that this place is also a bookshop. While I did see a bookshelf, I was kind of expecting to find books for sale, or maybe I didn't see it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yelp
Absolute gem in a little corner of a plaza in Orange. Went here to study with my bae and film a project! The scenery here is one to behold, a definite 10/10 coffee shop type of vibe, fast internet, and refreshing organic drinks. The yummy... 5/5 The Thai tea was actually really smooth and refreshing! ____________ The affordability... 3/5 Inflation is getting out of control... 6-7$ a regular sized drink? C'mon Cali what's going on ____________ The service... 5/5 Nice coffee cats! ____________ The ambiance... 10/5 Absolutely love the atmosphere here. Looked so good for our film. _____________ The cleanliness... -100/10 Everything is so amazing here, but the bathroom. The men's bathroom literally has poop on the toilet seats. And the door jams the person inside HAHA. Please. For the love of the people and business, get this fixed asap.
