Google
Great, relaxed little coffee place with interesting coffee options like a vanilla cardamom latte and a Mayan mocha. Staff is always friendly and helpful, coffee is delicious, plus they have gelato! There is a Tesla charger in this parking lot, so this is an excellent place to recharge while your car does too.

Maite

Google
Great coffee shop! My iced oat latte with Mayan syrup was so unique and tasty! I really appreciate that they don’t charge extra for non-dairy milk! That should be the norm at all coffee shops. I enjoyed the indoor seating with my group and can’t wait to be back in summer to enjoy al fresco seating.

Google
Excellent coffee and gelato. Decent tea. Their house made syrups are amazing. I don't go as often or drink in anymore bc they got this bright projector a while back that hits just the right flicker frequency to trigger neuro conditions as the light bounces off the wall, especially in the white noise moments. Highly recommend, but don't plan on staying if you get migraines or have epilepsy, etc.

Asaf S.

Google
Best coffee in the Walnut Creek area, period! They have the best of the best espresso machine (La Marzocco) and they roast their own beans too. Definitely grab a bag of their Colombia while you’re there. And they’ve got vegan food options as well!

Nicole M.

Google
Friendly service and great tasting treat. I got the Cold Brew Float with the Thin Mint Gelato and now it’s all I can think about. Wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it again.

Google
This is an excellent little coffee shop. Tucked away between a Bevmo and USPS, it's a hidden little gem that I highly recommend. They have a good variety of coffee, but their Gelato, pastries, and small breakfast bites are the main attraction here.

Sabine K.

Google
Excited to have this new venue in our neigborhood! Their Italian gelato is the real deal - it tastes like it does in Europe. They also get the portion size right, a small is truly small (although still plenty for me), and you get to choose 2 flavors. They also have great coffee/espresso/cappuccino, served in style in a real ceramic mug like it should be (you can it to go too). Also on the menu: Hot chocolate and baked goodies. Interior is very inviting and entices you to hang out longer...maybe play some of the board games which are available. Has the potential to become a cool hang out spot!

Google
Excellent coffee and espresso. Nice food, especially pastries. Really friendly staff. A weekend treat for us.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite and latte. Parking was ample since it's part of a larger complex. The staff greeted us right away and were warm, patient, and helpful with suggestions. Their menu includes breakfast dishes that looked tempting along with gluten free pastries. We tried the Castle Rock latte made with coffee cherry and it was delicious! I also grabbed a slice of matcha cake which was light, flavorful, and really hit the spot. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. Lots of people were catching up over coffee while others were working on their laptops. Free Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay awhile. I love that they make their own syrups and rotate seasonal flavors, which adds something special and wants me to keep coming back to try different lattes! The team here clearly cares about what they serve and how they treat their guests. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this coffee shop leaving the nearby gym. They have flavors like ube and pandan which is rare to find out here so I was excited to try it. The staff is really nice and assisted us quickly. They have house made syrups which I appreciate for local coffee shops! The coffee shop has plenty of table space to study or lounge and chat with friends. I ordered an ube latte which wasn't sweet enough for me, so after a sip I asked for 2 extra pumps which made it perfect! My friend ordered their special latte which was with ginger and turmeric (forgot the name) and it had had a light hint of ginger but nonetheless was good. I would definitely come back to try their other house made syrups!

Yelp
Longtime fan of both their gelato and coffee. Love having this place in our neighborhood! They offer oat milk at no extra charge for espresso drinks. Lot so f seating and open early.

Rob S.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop in Walnut Creek. It's an independent shop, and unlike the corporate chains, it's a relaxing place to sit and sip. They won't rush you out just to make room for the next customer. There is ample parking. The owner has a master's degree in food science from UC Davis, and is extremely knowledgeable about everything coffee. The quality of the coffee is markedly better than anywhere else I've tried. The staff are polite and the service is fast. On the rare occasion something isn't quite right, like an order mix-up, just ask politely they'll remake it for you at lightning speed. Occasionally there are one or two people who talk on the phone for 30+ minutes or take Zoom calls inside the shop. I'm not crazy about that, but headphones work great.

Yelp
Congratulations to Jhoey, Taylor, and Vik on Contra Costa Coffee's Five Year Anniversary! That deserves five stars! I came by today ... just missed you, Jhoey! It was afternoon so I opted for gelato rather than coffee. Enjoyed three gelato samples and settled on the cappuccino flavor. Always a winner. Appreciated the anniversary free treat. Opted for the kouign amann. New for me. Excellent vendor for pastries. Here's to your next five years!

Yelp
It was my first time trying an ube latte and it was a great experience here. The latte was done very nicely, you could tell the barista has good skill. They were also extremely friendly at the kiosk and it felt easy to talk to them or possibly get advice on what to drink. The ambiance indoors was very clean and organized, a good spot for an interview or a get together. Lots of comfortable seating available.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. I needed some caffeine, and found this place on a whim. I came in and ordered an iced black tea, and the caffeine almost instantly woke me up. The employees were really friendly, and they took care of all the customers really well. They have some music playing in the background, but it's not overwhelming that you can't concentrate. They also have WiFi here, so now that I know that, I can definitely see myself coming back and doing some work here.

Yelp
Update with regret: but of late, this otherwise pleasant coffee shop has been blaring over its sound system streams of utterly horrid, adolescent-sounding, nyah-nyah-style punk NOISE masquerading as music, making extended visits to the cafe excruciatingly miserable a result.
google avatar

Abegail M.

Yelp
Came here after working out since my gym is in the same plaza. The space itself is very cute! I also love that they open early. The coffee was decent, I didn't love the ice coffee that I had but would be open to trying something different!
google avatar

Phil N.

Yelp
This is an unassuming coffee place in the mall where BevMo is and Raleys once was. The coffee was awesome. I had a latte and it was perfect. Nice dark roast flavor popping through the foam. It's a quiet place with a few tables inside and out. They have one barista and one counter person so bring a little patience. It's worth it.

Yelp
I came here at around 7:40am today. First thing I noticed was how spacious this place was. It seems like a great place to study. The woman helping me at the counter was really sweet and helped me figure out which drink to order which I did end up choosing an Iced Green Chai with oat milk. My favorite part was the fact that it wasn't overly sweet. The concentrate is delicious and you can definitely taste the earthiness from the Green Tea. I'll come back to try their gelato next. Come and support a local business!

Yelp
I've been to contra costa coffee a few times, and it seems like the best place to get a good espresso or tea along ygnacio valley road. This time, I ordered their blackberry jasmine green tea as an Arnold Palmer and it was very refreshing. The tea is very floral, and the hints of mango and orange peel give it a tropical-like scent. The tea tastes very much like it smells. They usually have seasonal house-made syrups, and I believe all of their syrups are house made which I really appreciate. I've never been in the morning (which I presume is their rush hour) but every time I've been there it hasn't been busy at all. The employees are very kind and ready to make recommendations based on your preferences. I definitely recommend Contra Costa Coffee Company!!!

Yelp
OK coffee, not a huge menu, service was relatively quick. Mocha was not very chocolately, unfortunately.

Lauren H.

Yelp
I went there for the first time today. I give them five stars for the latte. It was delicious and the coffee art was a special touch. There was a woman complaining about being short staffed and I did not think that was necessary. I also think it could be a bit more well organized. However, the latte was exceptional and I will go again.

Robert A.

Yelp
Excellent coffee brews Barristers are very friendly and even talk to you Small inviting atmosphere and outdoor seating

Yelp
Super cute place, love the abundance of options while still being a true coffee shop. They have three types of non dairy milk which is a PLUS. They have almond, oat, and MYLK - first time trying MYLK and it's just okay. I won't get it again because I LOVE the creaminess if oat but it was worth the try. MYLK is a blend of oat, coconut cream, and fava bean (if I remember correctly). The person working the counter was super friendly too. They are offering tastings of their gelato. I tried white peach and fior de latte - both good but really wanted coffee which they were out of so I'll try again some other time.

Yelp
If you are in the area, you have to check out this little coffee shop/gelato place. The coffee is amazing, I always order oat milk cappuccino, was never disappointed. Gelatos are great too, our family favorite is POG(assorted fruit sorbet), milk chocolate and tiramisu. They change flavors often. Before making the order they will let you try several flavors (currently the front fridge broke and that option is unavailable). You can buy popular flavors to go in small batches too. Their pastries are just ok. It is Staff is always friendly and offers loyalty cards, which usually got full in very quickly. Also there is a slight cash discount, if you want to save a little. This coffee shop offers inside and outside sitting, but no public restrooms, which is inconvenient if you came with little kids.

Rebeca E.

Yelp
Amazing all around, both times I've gone have been great! My coffee was perfect both times and each person who helped me did it with a warm smile! Thanks contra costa coffee!
google avatar

Corrie C.

Yelp
Coffe was good and the service was decent. The service could have been a bit friendlier. They also don't have a bathroom for use which isn't okay in my opinion.
google avatar

Stan L.

Yelp
Excellent products. Excellent service with punch card rewards. Nice ambiance. Table and small couch seats.
google avatar

Yelp
COVID-19 Pandemic Review I am always coming here after I get off work at 1:45pm. I think I am their favorite customer. The people that work inside know me pretty well. Since nobody can enjoy their gelato inside thankfully there are tables outside. I have to sit down and take a picture of my gelato before I indulge into it. I love having gelatos at Contra Costa Coffee. Request for a stamp card. Get 10 coffee or gelato to get a free coffee, tea, or small gelato. It is worth having the stamp card if you enjoy coming to Contra Costa Coffee.

Yelp
We came here based on the yelp reviews. It's in a large shopping center so there's plenty of parking. I came around 10 am there are a lot of tables that are close together. It was a bit warm inside. The menu is up front. They also have pastries and gelato. I got an ice latte with an extra pump of vanilla. It took a little while to get our coffee. The coffee is strong but it is good.

Lynda Joy M.

Yelp
I primarily come here to stock up on my gelato but occasionally treat myself to a coffee or a tea. I have never been disappointed with anything I've bought here. The staff is pleasant and the area kept very clean.
google avatar

Linh C.

Yelp
Small shop, but good gelato flavors and coffee. I got the affrogato and it was good. Woke me up when I needed it . Ice cream was creamy and tasty . Good spot.
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for other coffee shops in the area that wasn't starbucks and came across this place. Based off the good reviews, I decided to come try it for myself and i'm glad I did! The place has a nice chill vibe, the workers are very friendly and the coffee is delicious! i will definitely be coming back

Michelle M.

Yelp
So close to home. My husband and came across this place last year. I love this little coffee shop. My fave is the Gibraltar and they make excellent latte as well. The pastry is good no wow factor. The staff are very nice and pleasant. They also have gelato by" Ginger Gelato" and one of my favorite is the kalamansi flavor it's refreshing. My only comment is you need a little bit more brightness inside the store and add some cozy elements. Need more chairs outside too
google avatar

Erich L.

Yelp
Coffee was ok but the pastries were very good. Tried the brownie and it was excellent. They have gelato and other things that look good and I would go back again. Friendly service and the cafe has a nice seating area. I would go here and stay when things get back to normal. Next time I will try the espresso drinks and other coffee options.
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
The staff here was so pleasant and they make a great latte! The best part about this place, though, was that they have lots of really good pasties! Whenever I find a kouign-amann, I get so excited, and this one did not disappoint. It looked like they had lots of other options and there were several varieties of gelato. Would definitely visit again!

Yelp
I've lived in the area for quite sometime and frequently visit the post office in this plaza. This morning on my way to starbucks, I asked myself... "Why do I go to Starbucks when I can support a newly discovered local coffee shop?" And here I am. Immediately I could tell this place cares about their customers based on the fact that the people behind the counter greeted individuals by name and made personal small talk. The gentle music playing in the background was soft but noticeable as I nod my head to Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive" (A GODDAMN BOP) and the homestyle decor full of cats, coffee themes, and various seasonal fixtures that were carefully thought out to compliment the small and quaint nature of the business. Im ranting, but I do want to highlight the latte i got, while delicious I took the top off to see a beautiful design. To the kind young lady in the black with the glasses... thank you for putting care into my coffee. Had I not removed the top, I never would've have noticed your beautiful efforts into making this experience even more satisfying. You are very much appreciated and small details like this is what makes me return to certain places. One day, I hope you all can greet me by name as I plan on becoming a regular.

David D.

Yelp
The epitome of a high quality independent purveyor of the very best coffee, pastries, and homemade gelato. An absolutely wonderful laid back neighborhood shop. A perfect place to rendezvous with a friend.
google avatar

Hector F.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time since I moved close. This will now be my new coffee spot. Great coffee. Great service. This is a must try. Reminded me of Italy.

Julia P.

Yelp
The lady behind the counter is really sweet. But boy or boy has the quality of this place gone into the toilet with the new owners that came in before or just after the Pandemic. They have less flavors and the cones are absolute crap. Fell apart before it was handed to me. I said don't bother. It will be ok. It tasted worse than it looked. Good thing she gave me a cup to put it in so I can toss the cone.
google avatar

Yelp
Contra Costa Coffee is a new co-tenant with Ginger's Gelato. the hours posted on Yelp are wrong, updated (6/4) on their webpage, not website. inboxed yelp on new 5 day hours. the free gelato or coffee with purchase offer posted on yelp page is also wrong according to the owner present. offerings: coffee, gelato, expresso. brew: medium roast (16 oz) 2.50 -just light or medium, no dark roast available. rawanda was mentioned... -medium roast tasted like the usual coffee, slightly acidic. not strong enough for me. couldn't get woke enough. drips: -Kinesis roastery mentioned, little else besides long history of owners involvement in coffee businesses. -previous licks of Ginger Gelato finger licking GREAT! -directions are easy to follow once they are noticed. food film at register isn't visible. it's see thru so pay area isn't apparent.

Tíbor G.

Yelp
Nice little stop before I went into Morgan territory canyon. The staff/owners were very kind and shared their recommendations and insight into other local businesses. My iced decaf Americano was flavorful and it was fun to try one of their in-house syrups, the vanilla cardamom. If you are an affogato fan, namely gelato and espresso, this is the place to get it! Their decor also was fun hehe
google avatar

Gwen G.

Yelp
Love their lavender latte, it is great iced or hot. Their cold brew is great too. I like how their lattes are not made overly sweet, so I can control it. Though I never have to add sugar.
google avatar

Majid M.

Yelp
Cute spot with gelato Coffee is well made with measured / pressed shots. Gelato made in house.
google avatar

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Friendly staff and delicious coffee! We had their iced mocha and iced oat lavender latte. They use Tcho syrups! Conveniently located near the Post Office with lots of parking available.
google avatar

Pricillia T.

Yelp
The food, service, and the coffee was SO good! Highly recommend. Will go again. The quiche is my favorite.
google avatar

D H.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience in both service and quality of the coffee. Cashier/ Barista seemed very unhappy and annoyed to be there. Basically did not speak. No greeting or hello. Just started blankly while I ordered. Only when necessary asked which size I wanted. Tried the vanilla cardamom latte. Yuck. Just bad, off flavor. To top it off, it cost more than $8! I did order it with oatmilk but still.. wow. Highest price I have ever paid for a coffee drink. Drank about 1/3 and just couldn't, so threw it out. As shameful as it is, I would probably rather go to Starbucks than return here.
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Having a coffee craving but didn't want the usual Peet's. This is a small gelato and coffee shop but on a cold rainy day the Oat Latte hits the spot!
google avatar

Kirsten A.

Yelp
Originally was going to review "Ginger's Gelato" but was a bit confused. The store front still says Ginger's Gelato, but there is a hanging banner underneath that says Contra Costa Coffee. And the cup I was served has "Contra Costa Coffee" stamped on it. The espresso was ok and the gelato was ok too (in case it wasn't clear, I ordered an affogato). No crazy reason to give less than 4 stars because nothing was bad. Just everything was OK.. the interior, the customer service, the coffee, the gelato, all of it. But what can I say? Thanks for the affogato, lol.

Kym H.

Yelp
The Sea Salt Caramel gelato is divine! I love stopping by here and getting a coffee and pint of ice cream to go. It's quiet and has tons of parking.

Shizuo G.

Yelp
Drip coffee was Luke warm, and flavorless. I ordered at around 10am, maybe the coffee was left over from much earlier in the morning. I do not recommend. Peet's is just down the street as well as Starbucks across the street.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Contra Costa Coffee has by far the best espresso! I'm very impressed how knowledgeable the owner Taylor is about espresso. I love how they weigh the espresso grounds and time how long to pull the espresso shot. No other coffee shop pays so much attention to detail when pulling espresso shots. The espresso is perfect every time! I also value the precautions Contra Costa Coffee has taken in regards to COVID-19. The employees always wear masks. They have a plastic barrier between the customer and employees. They even make sure all customers wear masks before entering their shop. If you're looking for incredible espresso and gelato, I highly recommend Contra Costa Coffee!
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Sweetest ladies at the register, really laid back cafe vibe and a wonderfully mellow latte. The espresso isn't bitter, so it blends wonderfully with their lavender syrup for a balanced and delightful lavender latte! It holds its own well too in an unflavored latte. I even learned something new about why reusable cups are designed in certain ways. Good vibes all around in this shop!
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
Wonderful little neighborhood coffee shop. Friendly staff with great recommendations. My latte was subtle and perfect. Liked the quiet ambiance. Will definitely be back!

Lyn G.

Yelp
I tried the chorizo breakfast wrap and it was partially cold/frozen. The latte was delicious as usual.

Julie P.

Yelp
Amazing cappuccino and great gelato! Tiramisu gelato is my favorite. Friendly staff too.
