20 Best Tapas Bars in Barcelona, From Old-School Dives to the Avant Garde | Condé Nast Traveler

"A tiny gastronomic gem you might walk past, with a minimal interior and a bustling outdoor terrace, it serves a seasonally changing tapas menu scribbled on a chalkboard; standout dishes that have achieved near-legendary status include a roast chicken-based twist on classic Russian salad and steamed mussels with ginger and tapioca." - Isabelle Kliger

The 14 Best Tapas Spots In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"This secret Sant Martí natural wine bar has you covered, whether you like your grapes served in a traditional style or as if they were freshly crushed in a barn full of wet cattle. What makes this snug bar a secret: the unorthodox location, sandwiched between kebab shops and smoke-stained old-man bars behind the Estació del Nord bus station. As the name suggests (Contracorrent means against the current), they care less about being on-trend and more about you having a fun time. The action is on the terrace, where you can feel like a true Barcelonian chatting to a friendly server while giving your glass a swirl. This place is known for the ensaladilla de pollastre, where the usual tuna is substituted with crispy roast chicken, giving it a comforting twist that reminds us of Sunday dinner at home." - isabelle kliger

This was the best ceviche of my life, but every tapas was excellent. I chose this place because it is next to the fresh food market and had lots of fresh ingredients on the menu. It was a great choice. Please go support this place and the staff. The server told me about many wines including the wine maker being a woman and her origins in the UK and having moved to Spain. Impeccable service for such an unassuming atmosphere.

Back in Barcelona after 9 years and this was our first meal. Dishes were creative and well executed. I would recommend the avocado aguachile and the boquerones tempura. Also tried a couple of their orange natural wines. Interesting to taste but may be an acquired taste. I would definitely come back. Overall pretty solid with friendly service.

Typical Catalan place, do not expect hospitality, warmth, or proffesional service. The moment we walked it felt unwelcome; it took them almost 5 minutes to come to the table. When the waitress finally came to the table, she did not explain anything regarding the food and wines (it's supposed to be a wine bar lol). Funny enough, the waitress took her time explaining things to other tables that were indeed Catalan, so at this point, we decided we had enough. We ordered just a few dishes to try, which were nothing to write home about. Microwaved croquettes and a steak tartar that was mushy (so not made immediately and served). We paid our bill and went to a different restaurant near Tetuan, where we had a great experience and spent about 4 times what we spent in the contracorrent bar, so in the end of the day it's their loss!

Small place a bit further out. Excellent curried mussels, pork&beans and beef cheeks! Recommended Wanted to try the sister restaurant as well but was closed

Food was amazing staff were friendly and a lot of fun. Would recommend sitting at the bar to interact with the chef’s. The Steak Tartar and the Bomba’s are delicious!

I went to Contracorrent Bar with friends because we've heard excellent reviews regarding this place, so we wanted to try it for ourselves. We were greeted and guided nicely when we arrived. However, since we were too many, we were undecided about which Tapas to try. Fortunately, the chef was friendly enough to come to our table and recommended which plates to try. The Tapas were surprisingly exquisite and delicious. The wines they have are also excellent, and the Lady was very informative regarding the wines we were thinking of choosing. Overall, this place boasts a delightful, savory selection of Tapas and exceptional wines and the impeccable service they give to their customers. I highly recommend visiting this place if you're a local or a tourist in Barcelona!

Great place for dinner with innovative tapas dishes! The waiter took his time in explaining all the different wine options (there’s no wine menu) and we ended up trying a sparkling Italian red! 🍷

What a great find, this little hidden gem has great food, great wine and Rafa was fantastic. So accommodating (there was 9 of us) and so helpful with food and wine selection. Rafa, you made the start of our night so much better as the previous 3 places could not seat us and the way you handled this was exceptional. Highly recommend.
