The Hit List: New Barcelona Restaurants To Try Right Now - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"The same team behind the original Contracorrent bar in Fort Pienc has opened a new bistro in Gràcia. Expect that same great laid-back vibes and natural wine selection, but in a more stylish setting. Instead of tapas, you’ll find a tasting menu (eight courses for €32.50, 10 for €45), but not a stuffy one. Dishes are homey and funky, just like the wine, with lots of housemade fermentations, from garums to miso and pickles galore. The pulled duck with orange chutney served on an anise cracker is a lighter Mediterranean spin on Beijing Duck, while the arancino stuffed with lamb ossobuco will have you ahhing in the right places. And there isn’t a spherification in sight." - isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger, isabelle kliger

Went for a spontaneous date night, got lucky with a walk in and turned out to be our favorite meal in Barcelona so far. I’m not huge fan of tasting menus but each dish wa creative, yet comforting, was made with seasonal ingredients, complementary flavors and had the tastiest natural wine pairings. Each new item that hit our table was delightful. The server was incredibly knowledgeable of the dishes and wines and was helpful to explain in English. We cannot recommend it enough and can’t wait to return!

Some of the food here left a lasting impact, flavor combinations that shouldn’t make sense on paper but create some of the best tasting food I had in Barcelona. Service was friendly and they even added a glass of wine to our pairing because they saw we might’ve been drinking ahead of schedule. 100%would recommend to anyone coming to Barcelona, has to be one of my favorite meals I had as whole here and I will be coming back in the future!

The perfect neighborhood restaurant for a relaxed meal that really showcases what creativity and great sourcing can combine to do. Tasting menu format for a ridiculously low price of €35 to€48 that delivers far beyond the price tag. It’s a simple and delicious formula that’s bound to please anyone. See the menu photo for a sample and know that it will be different every night. That’s part of the fun. We loved all 8 courses. Hard to pick a a favorite. Natural wines at very reasonable prices. Be adventurous and enjoy!!! Go soon before everyone figures out what a delicious deal this place is!!

I had this restaurant in my to go list for a while and today I went there with my partner to celebrate my birthday. We didn't want to spend too much time in there because he suffers from back pain and cannot be seated for too long, so we were happy when they told us we had to leave in 1h30. The service was nice, efficient, kind and very informative. The food was amazing, one of the best meals I ever had. The price was fair given the high quality of all we have eaten. We will definitely come back!

Serious cooking, smart-value tasting menu, and one fixable blind spot Contracorrent Gràcia feels like a chef-led place that’s trying to give us a lot without making it feel expensive. The tasting menu is the headline: a genuinely interesting price for a format that still respects product, technique, and pacing. We get the sense there’s a real cook behind it—someone who understands when to push and when to let ingredients speak. What holds it back is the wine side, oddly. There’s no proper wine list to browse, and the day we went, the person looking after us couldn’t really help us choose with confidence. It’s a shame, because the contrast is stark: the owner (who wasn’t there that day) is a strong sommelier, and you can feel the place wants wine to matter. That gap turns a potential “great night” into a “really good dinner.” Still, we’d go back. The kitchen earns it, the menu makes sense, and the weak point feels solvable—one better wine touch away from being a regular. Clean: 7.5/10 Comfort: 8/10 Food: 8.5/10 Wine: 7/10 Service: 8/10 The Experience: 8/10 Price: 45€/pax

Took my husband for his 60th after we spotted in Time Out 50 Barca best restaurants list. Simple menu (always the best) with each course being both sustainable and delicious. Specially loved the last course pork, chanterelles and pumpkin. Highly recommended, Maria was an engaging server and must do 30K steps per day!!

Amazing food, with tasty and unique dishes and great service. Anna was very attentive and recommended us very nice wine to have with the food. I will visit again next time I’m in Barcelona.

Amazing place! Tasting menu, almost micheling style, but better and much more affordable! Super relaxed ambiance and the owners/staff is super friendly and helpful. Big selection of natural wines people seem to apprecite, personally I didn’t drink. Highly highly recommend, it’s really a hidden gem!
