The 36 Essential Indianapolis Restaurants

"Using some of the latest kitchen machines from Italy, Convivio puts a major focus on fresh pasta made in-house daily, topped with poultry, seafood, and other local and organic ingredients. Try their Nero pasta dish: squid ink spaghetti noodles combined with sun-dried tomatoes, shrimp, crab, and lobster in a lobster cream sauce. The menu changes seasonally, but you can always taste the fresh ingredients in the bread, poultry, and seafood options." - Mike Gillis

The customer service was excellent. The food was great. I have been to the Carmel and Zionsville locations. I highly recommend both. The food quality is top notch.

Google
Great food, service, and atmosphere. The staff seemed friendly and timely with their service at this restaurant. A decent Italian restaurant in Carmel, Indiana for sure. The white bean soup they featured here was one of the best soups I've had ever. Also, the water here was exceptionally crisp and good. I've never commended a restaurant for their water quality, so that's a first. Overall, good experience at Convivio.

To start, I will say that we go to Convivio every couple of weeks or so and usually love it. This review is for the Tentacolo di Polpo. The menu says: Grilled Octopus, Potato Gratin, Arugula, Goat Cheese Cream, Balsamic Glaze for $25. What I got was an incinerated, tiny piece of octopus with one small roasted potato sliced into chunks. I sent it back and they did offer free dessert but with the prices they charge, this shouldn’t be sent out from the kitchen.

I come to Convivio very often, and every visit is just as amazing as the last. Their squid ink pasta is simply the best and I have yet to find another place that comes close! The dish features hand made squid ink spaghetti, tossed with a luxurious lobster cream sauce. The combination of lobster, shrimp, and crab creates an incredible depth of flavor, while the sun-dried tomatoes add just the right touch of sweetness. It’s perfectly balanced and absolutely unforgettable. If you love Italian food, this place is a must visit!

Limited menu. Asparagus very undercooked after two tries. Service so so. Drinks not kept filled. Food just okay. Food looks great though.

Juan B was awesome! This was our 1st time eating here. He explained everything well. I was celebrating my birthday and I am so glad we came here. A co-worker recommended Convino. It is her favorite Italian restaurant. Now, it's mine also! Pansotti taste is so amazing!! I will definitely be back! Thank you, Convivio, for making my birthday perfect!!!!🥰

Google
The food is absolutely fantastic, with every dish made from the freshest ingredients. The service is exceptional attentive, friendly, and prompt. It’s clear that they take pride in what they do. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Google
we went to this place for a date night dinner last month. the menu options were great, the service was good too. Food portions were large and tasty. especially the Tagliatelle al Convivio. its a good place to go for italian food. we had an issue with the condensation from the air conditioner dripping on us in the booth where we were sitting, so the waiter promptly moved us to a different seat.

Yelp
Great Restaurant and vibe, the pasta was delicious! I would come back for sure. The service was also pretty good.

Yelp
This was my second time coming to Convivio. After traveling in Italy twice now, it is wonderful to find a restaurant that makes me feel that the food and vibe fit my travels in the area. Convivio is a win on many levels. The customer service and attention to detail is inspiring! The layout of the restaurant is quaint but really feels like a European spot! Appetizer was the sausage bruschetta. WHAT A WIN! I was not sure what to expect with goat cheese as it can over power any menu item, but this was perfection. The goat cheese was there but it was also mushing wonderfully with the sausage. A mixture on bread I would not have thought of and it was three large slices (which really was big, but perfect). Drinks consisted of a regular old fashioned and then a glass of Super Tuscan with my meal. The Old Fashioned was a little sweet but good. I could not stop myself from ordering the exact same thing, the Gnocchi short rib. AMAZING. The flavors come together beautifully and it is not too oily. Just this perfect blend of meat that mixes in with the pasta and you are in heaven. Then you have a wonderful Super Tuscan glass (which they have by the glass) with it and you are winning on all levels. A great blend in this wine! WOOHOO VINO!! We barely had room, but decided to have the apple strudel dessert. There was Vanilla Gelato on top (WHAT)! It was very good but we were full and gelato melting does not go with take me home! Either way, a great end to a great meal. Janessa was a our waitress and she was beyond exceptional. She made sure that we did not feel rushed as it was two friends taking time to catch up and we were talking! She made everything go smoothly and it was wonderful to have her taking care of us! If you have a meal here, ask to be with Janessa who states she is there on Tuesday, Wednesday and some Saturdays (FYI). She is an employee that this restaurant should make very happy and hope that she never leaves. PROS: Wonderful ambience Authentic entrees Wonderful selection of wines Small and intimate Easy parking CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL Outdoor seating Bar Area CONS: Small, so make a reservation.

Yelp
Rockstar date night dinner location!! From the service, to the wine, to the food everything was spot on! The focaccia bread with oil was to start and free. The Cabernet by the glass was dry and delicious. The Caesar salad is a big portion and ice cold with amazing dressing. I got the short rib gnocchi which was so savory and unique. It was like a pot roast and a pasta dish married. My husband got the bolognese and loved it but liked the gnocchi better. We finished the night with tiramisu and it was a big portion and the perfect end to the dinner. Very creamy and chocolatey! Will be going back!! One thing I will add is the short rib gnocchi did not heat up well the next day so I wouldn't recommend taking it home!

Yelp
My friend and I decided to catch up over dinner and before we left, we both agreed that we have to come back! The food is amazing, our server Christine, was so attentive and we loved the ambiance! We started with their Bruschetta appetizer that has goat cheese (YUM), I had their pork chop and my friend had the Gnocchi, and of course we had to try to Tiramisu (SO GOOD)! We loved everything and can't wait to come back to try other dishes!

Yelp
Great pasta, massive portions, friendly service. We enjoyed the complementary focaccia bread and started our meal by sharing a Caesar salad. The salad had a sweet dressing almost but was very good. I tried the Nero (squid ink pasta) and my partner had the ragu. Both were delicious but very sizable and filling. Needless to say we had ample left overs for lunch the next day. Our server recommended a bottle of wine for the table to share which was well priced and highlighted the region of Italy the restaurant was featuring. Cute restaurant, also kid friendly.

Yelp
My wife and I both had the Pollo alla Pizzaiola which was recommended by Ivey. We both loved it. Very good and authentic. The pounded chicken was very tender and so were the asparagus spears. Just the right combination of capers, tomatoes, and cheese over a delicious polenta as well. Also lots of fresh, friendly faces on the staff. We will be back.

Yelp
We had a lovely experience at Convivio tonight. We came here for Father's Day and it was my first time being here, whereas my parents had been here before. I had been meaning to try this place, and I'm glad I did! First of all, our server, Adriella (not sure if I spelt her name right) was fantastic! She was super accommodating and mindful, as well as kind. She deserves a raise for how well she did tonight! I got the beet salad which I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of, but it was still delicious! The combination of the beets, arugula, goat cheese, oil, and pesto was simply divine. For my entree I got the Frutti di Mare, which was also delicious! If you're a big seafood fan I highly recommend getting it. It had a bit of spice to it which I loved! Overall we had a wonderful experience and we will be coming back!

Yelp
A group of us had dinner here on a Friday night and enjoyed the relaxed covered patio area on a nice Spring evening. The cocktail and wine list is excellent and they have a nice range of options by the glass as well as bottles. I had a classic Chianti which was perfect. The fresh made pasta was wonderful; I had the puttanesca which was delicious. It had plenty of olives and capers, flavors were fresh, and nicely balanced; I would definitely order this again. Others in our group were also very happy with their pasta dishes. For dessert I ordered the cannoli and they were filled with what seemed like flavored whipped cream which was different than what I've had elsewhere; not bad, but I'll probably order something else next time. Service was great, and the pace of the meal was nice and leisurely which gave us time to visit. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Do you have a really ugly date coming up? Bring her to Convivio. Not because she doesn't deserve good food, it's just that you won't be able to see her in this shadowy Italian realm. We kicked off Jackson's belated birthday dinner with a bottle of white that I can't remember and the Polpette Al Sugo. You could be very COVID symptomatic and still taste the veal in these meatballs. Potent stuff really. A thought - how many different servers could you persuade to grate cheese over your pasta? I'll set the line at 3.5 for any betting foodies. The reason I ask is that our servers were generous to offer from multiple angles. Look at that dairy generosity! My toe was dipped into the nightly special seafood pasta. Beyond my never ending quest for ridiculous amounts of sauce, the noodles stood tall. To be fair you could throw shrimp into anything and it's serviceable. Would I return? For sure. Would I rush to return? Not so sure. Lastly, whoever was smacking the domestic macro beer over this cuisine is an absolute sweat. Game recognize game.

Yelp
We went for our anniversary dinner and will definitely go again! Love the atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing food! The pasta was delicious and house made. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I have been to this location a few times, and it has yet to disappoint. The service has been great and quick and the food is always wonderful! We went yesterday and started with bread and oil -- LOVELY! I then got a Caesar salad, which is big enough for two, or a main course, but I would highly recommend it as it's delicious and the parmesan cheese is abundant! YUM! This is the second time I have ordered the Rigatoni Funghi Salsiccia, and I am so glad I did! It has a heaping of sausage and mushrooms and the pasta itself is cooked to perfection! It's full of flavor and very filling! J got the Pasta Special which was great, I can't remember what it was called -- but I would describe it as a Roast but make it a pasta dish! Short Rib braised beef, green noodles, an almost gravy-like sauce. YUM!!! You have got to try this place out and be sure to ask for extra bread!

Yelp
We were looking for a late dinner on Saturday night and this was one of the few places open until 11PM! It was still busy @ 9:45 and we wanted to sit in the bar area. Service was excellent, efficient and helpful but not intrusive. We shared the tomato & mozzarella salad, and also shared the fusilli pasta w/chicken and mushroom special, and gelato affogato for dessert. We also had wine- the special for the day and a classic Chianti. Bread was also served. We enjoyed the ambiance of this place and the meal. The pasta dish was not our favorite but it was a generous portion, hot and prepared as described. We will come back and remember the late night hours!

Yelp
we really enjoyed our dinner at this authentic Italian Eatery! The service was fantastic and was only outdone by the excellent food! i enjoyed a flavorful pasta down with mushrooms and sausage. my wife had the gnocchi which she said was excellent! i started with the pasta fagioli and it doesn't disappoint. we finished off our dinner with the tiramisu. the portions were large on all three courses. highly recommended and we'll be back soon!

Yelp
I was very excited to try the pasta here. Had been looking forward to it for months. But I am really disappointed to say it was below average. The serving size was good but totally lacked flavor.

Yelp
I wanted to love it but it fell flat for me. Would really be a 3.75 ;) Vibe: not much of one, really but I didn't mind that. It was simple and tastefully done. Just no wow factor with lighting, wallpaper, seating, etc. We initially were sitting at a table then I saw a booth open and asked to be moved. Is that terrible? Call me a both queen I suppose. The booth was much more comfortable, cozy, and intimate because they line the perimeter of the restaurant. I'd request a booth in my reservation! Yes, definitely make a reservation. It completely elevated the experience and felt like private dining since we were at the very end. Service: Excellent! Louise took wonderful care of us from the time we were greeted through the time we paid. Attentive but not over bearing. Friendly yet genuine. 10/10 for him! Food: It is a mix but I think that's more because of my expectation going into it. That's on me! I had high hopes of a next level delicious Italian meal. I got the fried risotto thinking it would be like an arancini. No. It was lots of coating and not much risotto. The tortellini was freshhhhh like they had just filled and boiled those gems. Those were delish! The pumpkin dish lacked flavor and unity -- lots of delicious ingredients -- prosciutto, butternut squash, a cream sauce. It just has a bit of an identity crisis. My friend doesn't eat pork and they wouldn't put it in the side for our other friend to share which was also bizarre to me. We were going to share a chocolate cake but they ran out. James, the manager, comped us some cocoa dusted gelato dessert that's not on the menu but Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you better secretly request it. It was the highlight of the meal! Sooo delicious and fun. So kind of James to go above and beyond for us! Cost: What you anticipate for an elevated restaurant. Dishes are $22-$40. Will I return? If someone suggests it and wants to go. Otherwise I won't be looking to go back any time soon.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience. I visited this wonderful restaurant on my beautiful. I will Say Convivio DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! From the appetizers and drinks to entrees and desserts, everything was absolutely marvelous!

Yelp
The most delicious, authentic, in house made pasta around!! The service is always incredible and the ambiance gives an Italian feel. If you couldn't tell by the photos, their desserts are well made and flavorful. If you're too full from the entree (which is plentiful by the way) make sure to order the tiramisu to go!
google avatar

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic Italian food and the best wines to pair with, Convivio is your place. I have been eyeing Convivio for almost 2 years and finally got to go for a really stylish and comfortable dinner. The patio is set up so well with mesh on one side to avoid direct sunlight and open area on the other side just for fresh air. We directly ordered main course (yes that's not how we do it!) but the portions were substantially huge looking at other orders. Olive E Fichi was the show stealer with Spinach Torchietti, Dried Figs, Kalamata Olives, Rosemary, Goat Cheese and Parmigiano. The alternating sweet and salty flavors were such a treat! We spent a good 2 hours savoring the food and my oh my! And the finale was the best, a bill in a Convivio book - all Italian! That was creative!!!
google avatar

Jeremiah C.

Yelp
One of the only Italian restaurants in Carmel making delicious homemade pasta. Started with the Frito Misto (Calamari), very tasty and loved the zucchini. The Nero pasta and Rigatoni were both incredible. Wonderful service and fantastic chocolate cake and cannolis. Full bar with wine and cocktails.
google avatar

Isabelle M.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by Convivio! We didn't drink any wine this night but they had a great wine menu. We started off with the Meatvalls, they were delicious. They also bring out bread and oil before your meal. I got the pasta dish with butternut squash and prosciutto. It was amazing!! The sauce was creamy and flavorful. The portions here are huge! I was able to take half my plate home to eat the next day. We sat in the very front room, so we didn't see much of restaurant. But I liked the decor that we saw. Service was good, nothing to write home about but it certainly wasn't bad service. Definitely want to return to Convivio!
google avatar

Yelp
Can't wait to go back. They make their own pasta and have a featured region of Italy featured on their menu each season. Yum
google avatar

Yelp
We've dined here three times. Once when it first opened and I was still eating gluten (found out later that I am allergic). And twice within the past few months on date night away from the kids. Turns out the menu has lots of gluten free options that are very delicious. So I suggest if you are GF to give this place a try even though it is very Italian and offers a lot of pasta options. The pork entree here is so, so delicious. It's a huge meal and I can barely finish it (and I usually skip lunch on date night). The lamb stew is another winner. Very filling but maybe a little too hot and heavy for warmer weather. The desserts here are awesome too. Don't skip out on it! Personally I think Carmel lacks a really amazing ice cream shop so just save yourself a drive and get ice cream here. We've eaten out on the patio which has a lot of shade. Facility is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful with allergy questions. This place is on our rotation list which means we love it!

Yelp
At the end of a nice meal in the bar area, I was horrified to discover a dead fly at the bottom of my water glass which I fished out of my mouth after nearly swallowing it. I had been drinking from that glass all night and the thought of it made me nauseous. We quietly flagged the hostess who was sweet and appropriately alarmed. She sent the manager over who led by condescendingly telling us that it was summer so flies sometimes get inside. (!!!) Maybe she intended to say more, but I will never know as I left for the bathroom so I would not throw up on the table (according to my husband, she did not apologize after I left). I'm an adult - I get it, flies happen. However, no one expects a dead fly at the bottom of their water glass in a nice restaurant and the person in charge should be concerned a customer had this experience, not dismissive like this is a normal occurrence. (Is it?!?!?) My husband and I were dumbfounded - there was no apology, no offer of a new glass of water, and no inquiry about whether I was okay after I returned from gagging in the bathroom (where I fortunately managed not to throw up). The bartender practically ran away when he picked up our bill - we were not sure he knew about the fly until that happened. We did not make a scene or raise our voices, though now I wonder if that is what it takes to get them to pretend they care about the dining experience or their customers? The response we received was rude, unprofessional and dehumanizing. The manager did call out a sarcastic sounding apology to our backs as we left, which was frankly weird. I do not get it - a simple apology and a new glass of water was not too much to expect given the situation and would have gone a long way. The dining experience is about both the food AND the service- you can compensate for a bad meal with good service, but good food is ruined by bad service. Overall a terrible experience. This was one of our favorite restaurants, but we will not be back.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting convivio. I loved everything about it from our waiter/bartender Cory he was absolutely the best. The atmosphere is definitely a vibe especially if you're looking for a nice date spot or just a girls night out you will love it. When I say Cory knows how to make a drink!!! I loved the Italiano Lavender 75. This drink was so good it had my taste buds doing a little dance. He recommended I try the Tagliatelle al Convivio I got extra sauce because I'm a saucy girl. The homemade sauce and noodles was so fresh. I will say it a little spicy if you like spicy you will love it. If you're a wimp like me you might want to ask for no spice

Yelp
We went in for our 29th anniversary, restaurant had 4 tables at 6 on a Thursday. Our waitress was way more concerned with not doing anything at all. She was nice but she interacted with us 3 times the hour and a half we were there, one to impatiently take our order and 2 to drop off drinks. She did EXCEL at not making any eye contact to avoid her tables, the table next to us agreed and commented multiple times between each other (we knew that because they were on top of our booth). The meatballs were delicious, my husband's squid ink was very good. The ravioli...inedible, I attached a picture, it was SCALDING hot, absolutely no flavor (I dumped so much salt and pepper in it but ewwww), it was pale, every single ravioli was broke open so the cheese (if they used any) was completely disintegrated, the noodle was so overcooked it was actually hard again. TERRIBLE. Based on that server (or lack there of) and that ravioli, I would never go back, no matter how good some other things were. I can eat canned ravioli by Chef-Boyardee and be ignored my family for free and still be happier. I was so disappointed because it had been so highly recommended by some friends of ours.

Yelp
Big news: they now have gluten free pasta and they were able to do it for any of the pasta dishes except one. HECK YES. I ordered the Trenette al Pesto and it was incredible. It has trenette pasta, Basil pesto, Yukon gold potatoes, green beans, pine nuts, and pecorino Romano. I also got the beet salad which was fantastic. Everything is always good here, but I strayed away from my normal order and loved it.

Peng Rui Q.

Yelp
I'll say this restaurant has a great service with a terrible dish. The NERO which is the pasta is toooooo hard to eat. This pasta is really a Tragedy. We ordered 2 at a table and the other one is slightly softer. The restaurant refused to cook again and saying it is what it is. Just do not come and have your dinner here.
google avatar

Susie R.

Yelp
We've wanted to try this for a while, finally had a chance. We walked in at 6pm on a Thursday without a reservation and 'had' to eat in the bar. We sat at an empty table there and they had to ask us to move as those were reserved. It would have been nice if they had told us just the bar TOP was available. Embarrassing. But the bartender made up for it, great guy. We ordered adult beverages and asked for bread. It was wonderful! RRR ordered gnocchi, I got a beet salad and Gigli di Zucca. OMG, so good! I highly recommend this dish. It's pumpkin infused pasta with sage prosciutto and butternut squash with a cream sauce that wasn't too heavy. R loved his gnocchi dish as well. Only 4 stars because we weren't told that tables in the bar were NOT available. 'You can sit in the bar' was not clear.
google avatar

Yelp
The first thing to say is WOW. The atmosphere is so intimate and beautiful. From the lighting to the cocktails, you'll be impressed. Our server was amazing and I wish I'd remembered his name. He was great at helping us pick out what we're eating. Everything was scratch made which made it harder because I LOVE Italian food. I couldn't miss out on something delicious. We will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Convivio is a easily missed amazing Italian restaurant nestled in a strip mall across from Market District. The atmosphere of the space is very cozy with a nice bar. Its great for an intimate dinner or a big family meal. For dinner I had the Nero (squid ink spaghetti) and loved it. It was flavorful and had good portions of seafood. For dessert I indulged on their house made chocolate cake. OMG that chocolate cake was amazing. It was rich without being overpowering sweet. Convivio has an amazing wine selection as well.

Yelp
Why haven't I tried it sooner? The atmosphere, the homemade pasta, the service, the specials, what's not to love? I went there with a group of five on a Sunday night. We had a reservation, and I was glad we did because it was very crowded! I started dinner by sharing a delicious Caesar Salad. The bread they bring out is delicious, along with their oil. I ordered a glass of their feature red wine, and it was tasty. I had a challenging time deciding what to order, since so many items on the menu looked good! I decided on a special that featured delicious homemade pasta with shrimp, brussels sprouts, white wine sauce, cheese, and pancetta. The mix of all the flavors was delicious. It was also a HUGE serving. I had enough to have for leftovers my next two lunches! Although I was stuffed after dinner, we did decide to try the Tiramisu, and it did not disappoint. I can't wait to visit back soon!

Cean B.

Yelp
An intimate space which perhaps was a bit overwhelmed by our boisterous Monday birthday dinner but they managed quite well recommending various dishes, and an excellent wine for our first time at Convivio. The staff works well together, but our waiter, Horatio, was particularly charming and very adept at the pacing for our celebration. We loved the calamari, the beet salad was spectacular, and the butternut ravioli entree was divine. We shared a plate of the meatballs (yum!) and the squid ink pasta as well. They were generous with the goodie bits of shrimp, etc., to make that a great item to share. With a complimentary tiramisu dessert and coffees it was a fabulous night! So glad we went, and can't wait to try it again. Thank you for a lovely evening!
google avatar

Yelp
We had the most wonderful experience with friends last night. I want to give a shout out to Kelly, our server who is also a sommelier-it was like private dining in Sonoma with our own wine expert. Ask for Kelly!!
google avatar

AJ M.

Yelp
Convivio has a fun atmosphere that isn't too casual and also isn't too "fancy." Our waitress was super kind, provided great service, and it was fun talking to one of the managers about the restaurant when he visited our table as well. Their wine selection is great, and had a few on special which provided good variety of options by glass. We got a supertuscan that was so good. Highly recommend the veal saltimbocca. It was prepared just right - tasty but not heavy. Caesar salad was also very good. I imagine on a weekend night the parking lot gets packed, but on a Sunday night it was just fine. Will definitely come here again when we get the chance.
google avatar

Yelp
I never leave reviews, but after visiting for dinner last night I had to! This place is amazing, the food is great, the atmosphere is great, and our server was so sweet! I have a gluten allergy and normally GF pasta is a toss up but I think this might be some of the best gluten free pasta I've ever had! My Italian boyfriend even approved of the gluten free pasta! Will definitely be coming back as this is my new favorite Italian restaurant!

Hunty C.

Yelp
Pasta was good. Calamari was good, but deceiving. You think there's a lot at the beginning, but half of it was fried onions. The hostess was a bit rude when requested a table that wasn't so close to the door. I don't think it was unreasonable request because of the cold air for it being so close to a door that is being constantly opening and closing. I just expected more from Carmel restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
This has been one of my favorite spots since they opened. Everything I have eaten has been amazing. I love the pizza. The pasta is AMAZING: rigatoni funghi is a MUST try. Service is always great and the restaurant is beautiful. Amazing outdoor patio.

Elijah S.

Yelp
After thoroughly enjoying our experience a few years prior, we decided to celebrate our six year anniversary at Convivio. David was a charming server who was involved and conversational with solid recommendations. We got the funghi bruschetta appetizer, which convinced even someone adverse to mushrooms to order the mushroom rigatoni. All of the food we've had here, regardless of the Italian regional focus, has been excellent. The checks are delivered in "Convivio" novels, which boast well-deserved compliments to various members of the staff as well as nostalgic messages and signatures from guests. We'd written in one novel on our last visit and when we expressed interest in tracking it down at the end of our meal, the hostess Maria R. was extremely helpful in providing stacks of novels for our perusal. We continued our search at the small bar at the front, where bartender Jake provided delightful espresso martinis as nightcaps as well as several other checkbook novels. While we were ultimately unsuccessful in our search and decided to leave our mark on a new novel, it was clear everyone at Convivio -- front and back of house -- was determined to make our night. Go to Convivio.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED My first time here. The food and service were excellent. We had squid pasta with lobster & shrimp, kids had cheese pizza, and Cesar salad. Our server Helena was very kind and patient. Even the water was excellent! Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

Yelp
I love Italian food and convivio did not disappoint! We sat outside and it was the perfect temperature under the awning. To start your table gets bread and oil and the oil was unique but very tasty. Not your typical olive oil. So good we asked for more! For dinner I ordered the rigatoni funghi salisiccia it was packed with flavor - mushrooms, goat cheese, sweet Italian sausage, pancetta l, and parmigiana. I will definitely come back and order the same thing. It was also my moms birthday that we were celebrating and they brought out a piece of tiramisu for her which was a nice and thoughtful touch!

Yelp
Convivio exceeded my expectations! I've been here a couple of times (once to dine and once to-go). I went on a Friday night and it was busy. The host said we needed a reservation or we'd have to wait about 2 hours for next availability. Before we left, I checked the reservations online and there was something available at an earlier time (maybe a last minute cancellation)! We ordered the Filetto Balsamico and Gamberoni (shrimp). Both were delclious! The filet was cooked how we asked for it and came with potatoes and brussel sprouts. The sauce for the Gamberoni was my favorite! It had a bit of sweetness to it and the shrimp was cooked well. When I ordered to-go, we got the Nero which was the squid ink pasta. It was delicious and worth a try! The seafood tasted fresh. I also ordered the Fritto Misto which was still a bit crispy when I got home even though it was to-go! We also ordered the chocolate cake and tiramisu. Both enjoyable! I don't believe you can go wrong at Convivio and it's a great place that is near home.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my time at Convivio. My boyfriend and I went here for our Anniversary. I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it was very busy on a Saturday night. Both of our meals were out of this world. We would highly recommend them both. The tiramisu was delicious. Being Italian I have high standards and usually don't go to Italian restaurants and I will definitely be returning. The service was great and attentive. You can tell they were trying to turn tables but I didn't feel rushed. The vibe of the restaurant is like rustic Italian. It is very clean in there as well. The seating area for waiting is a bit small. The parking lot has plenty of room though. Also the complimentary bread was out of this world too. Very fresh bread! The prices I feel like were typical for this kind of restaurant but it would be worth it due to the quality of the food!

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good handmade pasta? Reservations highly recommended for this amazing establishment. We had a party of 4 on a Tuesday night and was able to book a reservation a few hours in advance but I did see people wait as the night went by. I started with a Siliciano cocktail and not a big alcohol person myself, I was not a fan of it. It tasted like an alcohol Fanta but it was strong! I got the beet salad which contained yellow and red sliced beets with dollops of goat cheese sprinkled with arugula. For entree I got the rigatoni funghi salciciaa. As a mushroom lover, this was good but expected more mushrooms however it was filled with pancetta and sausage! Excellent dish and highly recommend.. the pasta was perfect al dente, sauce was evenly coated and seasoned just right. For dessert, I got the tiramisu that was not bad, I expected more espresso flavor from it. Service was attentive and nice. Overall a wonderful experience and a must when in Carmel!

Yelp
Arrived 1 hour before closing on a Thursday night but were still greeted graciously by hostess. There was only one table available in the bar but it was comfortable and we had a fun view of the patio where groups gathered for photos. We ordered a bottle of wine but it had been popular that night and had run out. Unfortunately, the other bottles doubled in price after this choice, so I ordered a 9oz of something else instead and husband opted for beer. I prefer buying a bottle because I can pour small amounts and take the remainder home - I'm a slow drinker! Ordered bruschetta appetizer. Three thick ciabatta slices heaped with fresh ingredients arrived served on a cutting board. Tasted great - husband thought it needed a small drizzle of balsamic. I was curious about a dish with squid ink pasta and server was patient in describing it as not much different than other pasta. I'd heard it could be briney but since I was choosing Nero with seafood, this sounded like a good combination. Daily features sounded so good it was difficult to choose. Husband decided on the bolognese. Despite how very busy they were, our food arrived with little waiting. Both of our dishes were delicious! The proportion of lobster, shrimp and crab and cream sauce in the Nero pasta was perfect and the bolognese delivered with balanced meat and sauce (a real comfort food dish!) Husband requested some table bread and oil so server rushed to provide so it would accompany our entree. The dessert menu was tempting but we didn't want to stay past close (though many other tables who'd arrived before us were still going strong!). Would be a nice place to sit in bar just for drinks and dessert too. High-quality Italian food served at prices in line with similar higher-end restaurants in Carmel/Indy area. Wine by the glass list had wide range; bottles leaned toward reds with only one choice in $50 range then a price gap with remaining choices $99plus. Server was prompt in providing take-home boxes. Daughter enjoyed the reheated bolognese (and she's particular). Will definitely be back!

Yelp
After hearing how great Convivio is, we made a reservation for NYE. I admit to being a bit disappointed to see they had a special/ shortened down version of their menu for New Years, so the food I was going to order wasn't available. Fortunately enough I found a great alternate! Because of the reservation, we were seated rather quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed some fresh bread as we waited to place our order. We tried the Rossa Bruschette as an appetizer and the Nero and Tagliatelle for dinner. The waiter warned me the tagliatelle was spicy, which I didn't mind! Everything was so delicious! I cannot wait to go back and try more things. It was the perfect place to wrap up 2022!

Yelp
It's been awhile since we have dined at Convivio and I must say the quality and selection is better that ever. There are many mouthwatering entrees from veal, salmon, chicken dishes to a wide offering of many creative and delicious pasta dishes. After some guidance from our waitress Christine, we decided on the Pasta Rustica. This house made Fusilli Pasta with Italian Sausage mixed bell peppers and oregano in a white wine Marinara Sauce was delicious. Being 100% Italian I can truly say my ancestors would love this place.

Yelp
Convivio is hands down my favorite restaurant in Carmel!!!! I love seafood pasta but it's hard to find a place comparable to positano's seafood pasta dishes. I think the frutti di mare is amazing here. The pastas are always cooked perfectly and the flavor is on point. The bread is dairy free which is a plus for anyone allergic to dairy! I love their bread but it can be hit or miss because sometimes it comes out cold and it's obviously not as good as when it comes out piping hot.

Yelp
Everything went well with our visit to this restaurant. We dined there for our 15th wedding anniversary. This restaurant set the mood with it's pure elegant decor and classy feel. And then there was food!!! OMG, the bread, Caesar salad, Mussels Pepata, Filetto, Ragu di Agnello, Tiramisu and Torta di Cioccolato was DELICIOUS!!!!! Now for the cherry on top...Service..we had Ms. Alissa as our waitress...she gave us an awesome experience and very knowledgeable of everything on the menu...Convivio Indy fell nothing short of a 5 star experience....thank you for taking part and adding flavor to an awesome wedding anniversary!!!
