I wanted to love it but it fell flat for me. Would really be a 3.75 ;)
Vibe: not much of one, really but I didn't mind that. It was simple and tastefully done. Just no wow factor with lighting, wallpaper, seating, etc. We initially were sitting at a table then I saw a booth open and asked to be moved. Is that terrible? Call me a both queen I suppose. The booth was much more comfortable, cozy, and intimate because they line the perimeter of the restaurant. I'd request a booth in my reservation! Yes, definitely make a reservation. It completely elevated the experience and felt like private dining since we were at the very end.
Service: Excellent! Louise took wonderful care of us from the time we were greeted through the time we paid. Attentive but not over bearing. Friendly yet genuine. 10/10 for him!
Food: It is a mix but I think that's more because of my expectation going into it. That's on me! I had high hopes of a next level delicious Italian meal.
I got the fried risotto thinking it would be like an arancini. No. It was lots of coating and not much risotto. The tortellini was freshhhhh like they had just filled and boiled those gems. Those were delish! The pumpkin dish lacked flavor and unity -- lots of delicious ingredients -- prosciutto, butternut squash, a cream sauce. It just has a bit of an identity crisis. My friend doesn't eat pork and they wouldn't put it in the side for our other friend to share which was also bizarre to me.
We were going to share a chocolate cake but they ran out. James, the manager, comped us some cocoa dusted gelato dessert that's not on the menu but Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you better secretly request it. It was the highlight of the meal! Sooo delicious and fun. So kind of James to go above and beyond for us!
Cost: What you anticipate for an elevated restaurant. Dishes are $22-$40.
Will I return? If someone suggests it and wants to go. Otherwise I won't be looking to go back any time soon.
