SNL’s Favorite New York Italian Restaurant Is Lattanzi | Eater NY

"A new diner has opened in the East Village at 80 Second Avenue, between East Fourth and Fifth streets, since Thursday, February 6; it comes from the owners of the address’s previous tenant, brunch-and-dinner restaurant Sunday Dreamin’, which operated for just five months before closing in October 2024, per EV Grieve. The diner’s menu is a mishmash of American and pan‑Asian dishes, featuring cheeseburgers and fried fish sandwiches alongside tom yum soup and stir‑fried udon noodles with strip steak." - Nadia Chaudhury

stopped in on a whim (with a quick book on resy) on a saturday at 5 & had an amazing experience. we mostly had the place to ourselves which was great because we both don’t like crowded spaces. the service was so attentive & atmosphere cozy with great people watching through the front window. sleek design, clean spacious bathroom. now for the star of the show: the food. there’s quite a few choices that intrigued me making my meal choice a bit harder but man i’m glad i went for the rigatoni despite being hesitant. i cleared my plate, which is rare for me, but i couldn’t put my fork down, yowza! so many flavors & the hint of heat was perfectly level enough to make it through the end without quitting! my friend also enjoyed his house special shrimp immensely. i will definitely be back to try more of the chefs creations! plus, chef was so sweet giving us a choice of dessert as we celebrated birthdays as well as bringing it out while singing. if you’re thinking about it, give them a try!

Excellent Food, Fast Service & Great Vibes! Had an amazing experience at Conway Diner! I started with their Seafood and Margaritas Linguine – absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked seafood. Then I tried the KBBQ and Spare Ribs with Rice – tender, juicy, and full of smoky, savory goodness. Every bite was satisfying. Also tried a few of their drinks – the Mimosa, Mojitos, and something called the Trader Joe – all were amazing and surprisingly affordable. Great flavors without the hefty price tag! The service was fantastic – super quick and friendly. Everything came out promptly, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of. To top it off, the meal came with a dessert pudding – a sweet, creamy finish that hit the spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for both families and couples. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food and the overall experience. I’ll definitely be coming back – highly recommend!

Holy smokes, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a restaurant where everything was so good! Genuinely shocked and just filled with happiness at every bite. Me and my partner got the fresh calamari, Thai spicy wings and beef stir fry noodles and also some oysters and gawd dam they were all good!!!! This was my first time trying oysters and the flavor of everything just left me baffled. Usually I don’t think a spot is truly a 10/10 but this was above and beyond, super friendly and got free ice cream! Definitely will be coming back and if you read this far on my review then you should already know that you’re going to be coming here. I highly recommend everything here.

The atmosphere, food, and, service were on point! Jason, the chef, came and spoke with us. Incredibly kind and such a great story. I’d recommend this for friends, family, dates, whatever the occasion. They have easily shareable plates. 100% ordering the popcorn chicken and wagyu sandwich every time I come back. Outstanding flavor on everything.

Visited with a friend. Find the place in the heart of East Village. The restaurant is kind of small but with good atmosphere. Perfect for family or dating. The chef came out to introduce himself and suggested some specials. I personality loved the short ribs. Over all, the service was superb and the price is very reasonable. Not much restaurant I've visited will give you that kind of service and good food for the price. I am planning to go back with my family soon.

My bestie and I were looking for a place that would suit both our taste buds for the night. I wanted seafood, she wanted a burger; after a quick google search and menu browse, we decided on Conway diner. An Asian American Fusion Restaurant. We made it just in time to be seated as the last patrons of the night, giving our outing an exclusive feel. The overall experience? 10/10! The food quality, vibe, service and price were all perfect. I had the seafood linguine, and when I tell you the seafood was so FRESH?! My friend had the burger which came with coleslaw (that was prepared more like a pikliz and I TRULY) enjoyed that 🙂‍↕️). At that point my friend and I were surprised that the place wasn’t packed! That’s when we found out they’ve only been open for about six months. We got to meet the chef, thanked him and our server profusely and made a promise to let everyone we know about this place. If you ever find yourself on the lower east side, make sure to check out Conway Diner! 🍔🍝

Yelp
My friends & I stumbled upon this diner for brunch. The menu sounded good, however, .... Two of us ordered eggs with combinations.... One with a side of bacon.... One with a side of teriyaki chicken. Both of us barely touched our food. The eggs didn't taste truly like real eggs Also, we asked for refills on coffee and were charged for each refill. Who's hungry? We were!

Yelp
Service was awful here. Our table got their food in 20 minutes while I waited and she kept telling me it was about to come out. After an hour a guy from the kitchen said he "just forgot to make it". They didn't even bother to try and make things right and comp my food. I paid 23 dollars for a mediocre burger that took over an hour to come out. Never come here

Yelp
You'll be planning your next meal. Real food lovers will appreciate this restaurant. They combine attentive staff, good meals, and generous serving amounts. Perfect vibe, delicious dishes, and attentive employees! The entire visit was memorable.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service! I came here with my fiancé and we were genuinely blown away. Every dish was delicious, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming--so attentive and friendly, they made us feel right at home. We had such a lovely experience from start to finish. I never write restaurant reviews, but Conway Diner truly deserves the praise. Take a look at the food pictures--we couldn't resist snapping a few because everything looked (and tasted) incredible. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for comfort food done right, with a personal touch.

Yelp
I wanted to try their fish and chips after I found this small diner on 2nd Ave., so with some time on my hands, I decided to go over and have some. The place was empty but it was very neat and clean with a pleasant atmosphere and decor. The young waiter took my order and in a short time, out came a pretty plate of fresh panko breaded fish a small coleslaw with perfect French fries! I was happy with a beer and fish and chips. The dish came to $17.00 without the $5.00 beer. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I'll be back again soon! Thank you Conway Diner!

Yelp
Stopped by this gem while exploring the neighborhood and I'm glad I did! The food was actually incredible fresh clean and fulfilling. I had the steak sandwich and Americano all was fantastic and I haven't had good fries in a while. The were cooked to perfection. I also like the mix of American and Asian favorites being that these are two of my favorite foods. Thank you for the amazing service and amazing food!

Yelp
I'm so happy Conway Diner opened in the East Village! Their Asian-American fusion dishes are both comforting and full of innovative flavors. Their calamari is a standout. The staff is so nice and welcoming. The service was fantastic and the ambiance was so cozy. Will definitely come again and recommend!!
