Coogan’s, a Washington Heights Stalwart, Closes in May Due to Rent Hike - Eater NY
"Coogan’s is a popular Washington Heights restaurant known for its inclusivity and sense of community. It announced its closure due to lease issues and high rents. The restaurant played a crucial role in the community when the neighborhood was struggling with crime and drugs." - Serena Dai
I liked this place, and isn't that enough? I could've given it five stars but the food was alright, but better than I expected for a sports bar kinda place. The atmosphere is nice, the service was good, I didn't really enjoy the random drunk person going around to tables to make new friends, but what can ya do? It's a good place to watch a sports game and you'll be satisfied enough with the food while you're there and that's all that really matters.

If you are looking for a friendly Irish "joint" with good staff and first-rate food, this is your place. It's a bit of a trek uptown, at least for a mid-town Manhattan resident, but the subway drops you off one block from the front door. Lots of room - it's a relaxed and comfortable place to eat and drink and visit with friends. The service was great and COLD beers and the atmosphere was a blast. we had some new teammates along, their first time in Coogans and at Millrose Games, so overall a great time!! We were the Greater Philly team enjoying our post race feast.

Loved this place! Amazing food! I tried the steak, arugula, sweet potato and goat cheese salad and it was divine. Their pumpkin ravioli was to die for!! The waitress was a little distant and we had to flag other waiters to get our waters refilled several times. But I would definitely come back. I'm still dreaming of the salad!

Nice local spot, probably the best in the area. Nice bar, simple menu and friendly people. All you really need. Try the simple items on the menu, this is not a salad place 😀. Fried food is good. Nice spot to watch games. Big bar.

This place is the epitome of all the things you love about Washington Heights - family, friends, good food, great ambiance, every culture and background sitting together for a beer! Get the calamari and the onion soup! And the hot chocolate! And the chicken pot pie!

The armory located one block to the West is home to the fastest track in the world. Where does everyone go after the track meet? Why Coogan's of course

Was there for a meeting, not the most flavorful food and some over cooked. It was apparent they were cutting corners on catered food. Wait staff not personable. With that said I went to the bar waitress was phenomenal, she saved the day for the restaurant, therefore receiving 3 stars.

Food is ok. Fresh chicken fiesta taco salad bowl and cone beef sandwich. It’s a little expensive for salad bowl. Good place for lunch near Columbia medical center. Very friendly wait staff.
