Cooking Classes Are My Favorite Way to Understand a City

"French pastries in Paris, France. This was the first cooking class I took back in 2021. There’s nothing more Parisian than pastry, and this class was so much fun."

"Cook'n with Class French chef Eric Fraudeau spent 30 years working inthree-star kitchens. When he returned to France, he opened a cooking school to share the wealth of French cuisine with visitors from across the globe. He started with market-to-table classes and was soon overrun with requests for his fun, informative, hands-on lessons. There is now an entire team at CWC, all of them professional chefs or sommeliers, offering a range of classes, from "Mother of All Sauces" to cooking with kids, wine pairings, and baking croissants or macarons. You can alsoopt fora gourmet food tour instead."

We just had the most incredible experience with Chef Christian. My family of 4 (myself, my husband, my 9 year old son and 12 year old daughter) made croissants. Chef Christian was so knowledgeable but also engaging and a lot of fun! I feel confident to go home and try this myself! And my kids left with the best core memories!!!! And we were able to take our baked goods home!!!

We had a WONDERFUL experience with Chef Christian and his pastry class. He was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and funny. The 3 hour class went by in a flash and we loved every second. We made loads of pastries, learned a ton, and laughed lots. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful as well. The next time I come back to Paris I will absolutely be booking another cooking class with them.

I had such a fantastic time at Chef Christian’s cooking class in Paris! It was a truly fun and engaging experience. We learned how to make Choux pastry from scratch and created classic French treats like profiteroles, éclairs, and Paris-Brest. Chef Christian was knowledgeable, patient, and made the whole day enjoyable. Whether you’re a beginner or a passionate home baker, this class is a must-do while in Paris. Highly recommend!

Chef Sarah is THE BEST!!! We took her croissant class and she was extremely patient, full of information and made a very complicated process seem simple. I feel confident to head back to Vermont and give the recipe a go! Sarah is overflowing with energy and enthusiasm and has a great sense of humor. It is obvious that she enjoys her job and working with her students. Yes, at the end you are able to sample EVERYTHING! (And you will create LOTS!) I most definitely recommend this class! We did take two other baking classes while in Paris and we got the most out of Sarah's class. Sign up!

Our family had a fantastic time with Chef Christian during our choux pastry baking class! He is so knowledgeable, full of energy and made the class so much fun! We learned how to make 5 different pastries and they tasted amazing! Highly recommend adding a cooking/baking class here during your stay.

We had an amazing experience with Chef Fabrice in the Market to Table cooking class! Fabrice listened to all seven members of our class while selecting ingredients to make a five course meal. As we went from shop to shop gathering the freshest of foods Fabrice explained why he picked the items and ensured everyone was participating. The shopping alone was a great lesson. Then back to the kitchen, Fabrice assigned tasks to each of us explaining as we went along the different aspects of the preparation, teaching us some skills along the way. We prepared sauces, vegetables, meat and desserts, all from scratch. He explained important information about temperature, time, stirring and pouring methods and so much more. Fabrice was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and encouraging to each member of the class. The meal we shared with wines at the completion of the class was so delicious, it was worth more than the price of the class. We highly recommend that anyone visiting Paris should make time to experience this authentic, Parisian adventure, preferably with Chef Fabrice. Thank you Chef. We will ever forget you! Jill &Steve Gray We went back for a second class on making French Macarons. Who doesn't love a delicious French Macaron but who would believe you could make macarons, from scratch, yourself? We so enjoyed this class with Chef Sarah! Sarah was very supportive and attentive to our small class and helped us learn important mixing and cooking techniques to create perfect macarons. We made each filling and then went on to piping our colored macaron shells. Our finished macarons were magnificent! Many thanks to Sarah for the fun and professional baking advice. The information was invaluable and we very much look forward to creating French Macarons at home!

I had the best time at Cook'n With Class Paris. I had the privilege to take 5 different classes by 2 different chefs. The first class was the market class by Chef Fabrice. It was delicious and so much fun. The next 4 classes were with Chef Christian. The classes were chocolate, choux, french dessert and macaron. I learned so much in each of these classes. The chefs will also give you tips and tricks to help you. The staff at Cook'n With Class were extremely nice, personable and super fun. The classes are taught so that you can go home and make the same great treats. I highly recommend going to this school.

We really enjoyed the Family Macron class with Chef Christian! He made the class very engaging and informative. My 9 yo son was able to do all the work and was very proud of his accomplishment. There was a lot of hands on opportunity for everyone. I would highly recommend Cooking with Class to anyone looking for an experience off the beaten path.

Yelp
This was a very fun experience that I highly recommend. Our instructor was fantastic!! The group was small, me and three other delightful women. The day was filled with learning, wine, making new friends and eating macarons!! I will definitely go back when I am in Paris!!

Yelp
This was probably my favorite thing we did in Paris! The class was fun, the food delicious, and the shopping and cooking educational. We were choosing between two different cooking class companies and I'm so happy we went with this one because it was such a great experience. Highlights included getting to pick our menu, shopping for the ingredients, enjoying some wine and charcuterie while the food cooked, and of course enjoying our meal. Getting to pick what we cooked was really exciting, our chef didn't have a set menu but rather made suggestions based on what was in season, and we as a group got to decide from there. Chef Mathieu was easily able to accommodate dietary restrictions while still allowing for the group to try what they wanted. We prepped all the food as a group, sometimes taking on different roles and others as an all hands on board. I never thought I'd be able to prep a scallop from the shell or cook duck, but we did both wonderfully and now I want to do it again! Such a great experience!

Yelp
We were in a group of twelve, and we were guided seamlessly through the markets and cooking processes. Fabrise and Christian were amazing, and together we created an amazing 5 COURSE MEAL!

Yelp
Went to Paris with my 12 year old daughter to see Taylor Swift. Asked her what else she wanted to do while we were there. A macaroon cooking class was her number one to do! Chef Sarah was wonderful. The class size was 8, 4 girls and their mom/dad. So much fun and such a cool opportunity. Very professional, clean and an overall great time. Will definitely go again if we get the chance to go back.

Yelp
Yelp needs to allow the option for six stars! Five just isn't enough! Let me say Chef Sarah is THE absolute best! Hilarious as hell, personable, knowledgeable and just a great human being. We came to Paris for my daughter's 16th birthday and the Croissant making class was one of the things on her list to do. Chef Sarah exceeded our expectations. Our entire group was great! We learned how really complicated croissant making was, the class is highly interactive, you learn the correct terminology and just have a lot of fun. We are now professionals at telling which croissants are made with butter and squaring edges lol. We love Chef Sarah! We all did well and there was a varied skill set in the class lol.

Yelp
We had the most amazing experience with Chef Sarah. Her knowledge of baking bread and pastries is extensive, her energy was on point. She really gave me more confidence in handling the dough.

Yelp
Our class was quite small and very "hands on." I think six people had made reservations but only three of us showed up because of transportation problems. We had a very good time and got lots of attention. The meal we prepared was a lamb stew with root vegetables. The instructor, Fabrice, spoke excellent English and we had no trouble following his instructions. It was an unbelievably good meal complete with appetizers, wine, dessert. I learned a lot because it was meal completely unlike anything I had cooked before. If you want an entertaining evening, a fantastic meal, and a good helping of cooking knowledge, sign up for a class.

Heather W.

Yelp
My favorite thing I've done in Paris, hands down. Our instructor, Sarah, is a joy to learn from. We made 5 (super tasty!!) desserts in 4 hours and learned so much, but Sarah never made us feel rushed. Everything was well-prepared and planned out. A must-do for anyone that loves baking or just wants to spend a fantastic afternoon having fun. 100% would do again! Thank you Sarah and Jess!

Yelp
Our trip to Paris was the spur of the moment. Several days before ship an acquaintance of mine suggested checking out a different food class/business. That class was sold out, but the owner of the business recommended Cook'n With Class. I initially wanted to take a croissant making class, but the class was sold out. I ended up choosing the dessert class, and I'm so glad I did. I husband and I showed up before 2 o'clock on a Monday afternoon and we were the last people in our cohort to arrive. Chef Sarah got started before 2:00. BONUS! Our class had six students and one teacher. Chef Sarah has over 15 years of professional pastry experience. One of the best things about chef Sarah were her techniques. Something that she said that I think is super important is that anyone can follow a recipe but it takes confidence and technique in the kitchen to make sure that your pastries are amazing and delicious. We made five desserts in three hours: chocolate créme brûlée, frozen apricot soufflé, almond and cherry entremet, strawberry tarts, and matcha moelleux. 1. Come prepared to learn by doing. Chef Sarah requires all students to bake (which is what we came to do!). She never, ever took over or tried to get us to be perfect. However, she did require us to make sure our techniques were correct. I now know the proper way to fold ingredients, I know the differences between the three types of meringue, I know how to tell when my meringue can stop being whipped, and the list goes on. I also learned why water baths are important in the baking process for certain types of desserts. 2. Come prepared to meet and work with others. Chef Sarah had a great sense of humor; it helped that our class had six people who were open, caring, and able to joke around with one another. 3. It was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit on our visit, and there is no a/c in the cooking class. The building does have a portable air conditioner at the front entrance to keep the temperature down. If it's a hot day, be prepared to glow/sweat! I learned a lot, and our final desserts were great. We got little boxes to take everything home (back to our hotel). My husband and I are excited to bake together, too! I cannot recommend this class enough! I suggest booking in advance. Don't wait until the last minute like we did.

Yelp
Wow! What a fun and interesting experience! We learned to bake 4 different pastries with croissant dough. Our instructor, Chef Sarah, was marvelous. She has an incredible sense of humor and is a talented teacher. She helped us all to feel confident and explained the process well. We look forward to trying out our new skills when we return home! Our class ended with tasting our delightful baked goods and a glass of champagne. We highly recommend this experience and Chef Sarah, whom we loved!!

Yelp
I went into the class unexcited and with low expectations and had been forced into it by my parents. But Sarah made the class so much better than I ever could have imagined. She was so helpful and inclusive of everyone even though many of us were inexperienced. Thank you Sarah!

Yelp
We spent a week in Paris at the end of last year and decided to take a croissant making class with Cook 'n With Class. Lucky for us the class was really small - just 4 of us to 1 instructor - and I liked the intimacy of it. Croissants actually take about two days to make, so they had some dough already pre-prepared, but they did show us how to make the dough as well. There was a reasonable amount of hands-on, but not as much interactivity as I would have liked for what I consider a normal cooking class. The format of this class was that most of the steps were a collective class effort where we would rotate who did what or split rolling out the dough between X number of people. I understand they do this format because we would make 40 croissants each if we all did our own batch... lol. So while this is great for people who don't want to do every step, I got a little bored and fidgety waiting for my turn at times. Our instructor also kept scolding our group for touching the dough too much. These dampened our experience, but only just slightly. On the other hand, I am giving this place 5 instead of 4 stars because the results were fantastic. I learned a good bit of useful information that I would not have been able to know or understand from reading a recipe. They also send a video and recipe to you so that you don't have to take notes during class... this was incredibly helpful. Also, just today (about 7 months later) I finally decided to have my own go at the recipe again to see how reproducible it would be... AND THE RESULTS WERE FANTASTIC. (Photos below of the ones I made at home.) The fresh croissants I was able to make were better than at least 80% of the croissants I've bought it my life. Honestly, now that I know I have the power to make amazing croissants at home, I think I've ruined a lot of future croissants that I will buy and inevitably be disappointed with. If you want to make amazing croissants to wow your family and friends... do it with these guys. TIP #1: Go to G. Detou (https://www.yelp.com/biz/g-detou-paris?hrid=Kl9QnTwzxZZvKNPF-4DRJg) to buy the chocolate baton sticks that they use in the chocolate croissants. Our instructor recommended this place to us and it has all sorts of amazing cooking/baking goodies! TIP #2: Try making a ham and pepper jack cheese croissant with the recipe... it tastes heavenly.

Yelp
My friend reserved our spot for the class during our trip to Paris. We met Chef Anton at the metro jules joffrin. He took us to a nearby market and had us choose our ingredients. There only two other people in our class so it was easy to decide oir ingredients. Chef Anton explained and answered our questions about what we saw at the market including horse meat. In the end we chose rabbit. We walked to the cookin class with our ingredients. The kitchen had all the insturments we needed to make a great meal and Chef Anton's team was making sure we had what we needed-- especially the bottles of wine that we drank while cooking. The whole time it felt like we were at home cooking with friends. Once we dinished and set up the table, we enjoyed our meal together. It was delicious! I was amazed at how Chef Anton put our idea together and made it so delicious! I highly recommend a class here if you are a weekend chef in your own kitchen. Chef Anton made the skills needed accesible.

Yelp
As a foodie, and an American, how can you not take a cooking class when you're in Paris? Of course, you're going to eat like a pourceau (pig) while there, but why not get a little sprinkle of french culinary knowledge as well? Even if it doesn't work out for you, you can at least pretend to impress your friends back home and proudly exclaim, "Why yes, I'm such a fantastic chef I'd make Gordon Ramsay weep tears of delicious sorrow. I've even taken cooking classes in Paris, ha!". * I was pretty giddy about taking this class, even though I felt like I had to sell a non-essential organ on the black market to pay for it (after the conversion rate that is)! Our class was entirely in English as our teacher was a native English speaker from California. She talked pretty fast (for a west coast girl) but was kind and patient throughout the class. We made heavenly bite-sized macarons from scratch in three different flavors. Chocolate, caramel and raspberry - yum! The class was amazing and completely hands on. I did happen to take some tips and tricks back with me but I couldn't help but feel there was no way I was replicating what we did. First, we used specialty ingredients and professional kitchen equipment. Second, maracons take a metric crapton of time and dedication to make. If we didn't have 6 people in the class it would have taken MUCH longer than two hours. Your classmates will be from around the world. My class had a belgian, aussies, brits and unsurprisingly a snobby upper-east side resident (that's in Manhattan to you non native NY'ers) who stuck her nose up when I told her I was from long island. Ugh. A lesson w/Cookin' with class is worth it if you're on vacation and want to spice up your Parisan culinary experience. Keep in mind the area surrounding is a little dicey so I'd recommend blending in with the locals and leaving your fanny pack at home. ~~~~~~~~ * Disclaimer: I claim no responsibility if your friends promptly point and laugh at your after that grandiose statement.

Yelp
Fun, memorable and delicious macaron class with chef Alex I highly recommend this place! Everything from booking to cooking was handled with a great dose of professionalism, generous dash of fun and sprinkled with some serious deliciousness. We had so much fun learning how to make french macarons and talking about french cuisine with chef Alex, an American in Paris, and ending the day with several dozen of exquisite... sweet... yummy... goodness.

Yelp
My daughter had an amazing experience here while visiting Paris. The chef was patient and knowledgeable while teaching children under the age of 12. I will definitely check in here again on our next trip. My daughter and I couldn't be happier. Merci

Yelp
We enjoyed our Cook'n with Class class so much, on our return trip to Paris, we booked it again. This time around, we did the market (re: more expensive) class, which I also found to be much more enjoyable. We met our chef, Constance, at a local metro station. She took us around to "market," and off we went. The stops were plenty: first cheese, then bread, followed by meat, after which came seafood, then ended by produce. At each stop, Constance explained the seasonality of product and benefit of local mongers, making us Americans exceptionally jealous of the intimate relationship between patron and seller. Oh, we spent 30 minutes talking about various types of cheese inside the stinky cheese shop, which was flat out awesome. Constance made up the menu as we went along, picking up an array of cheeses, fresh scallops for the appetizer, a pear tart for dessert, and a "chicken roll" filled with dates, veggies and cheese for the main course. Her flexibility was quite welcome, as we had people in our party who didn't eat pork and one allergic to shellfish (he got a salmon app). Back at Cook'n with Class, Constance bustled us along, giving us a chance at different stations and techniques and demonstrating proper plating--all of which we passably succeeded at, I'm sure. The food was tasty and extremely filling, inclusive of wine pairings, a pre-meal saucisson, and again, a lengthy cheese lesson well appreciated. As I mentioned in my original review, the cost ain't cheap, but it sure is fun.

Yelp
In 2019 my extended family traveled to Paris, one hot summer. Whenever our family talks about Paris, we always reminisce about our baking class. We all had a range of baking skills and, unfortunately, attention spans, especially because of the heat. My tween niece and nephew were intrigued the entire time and followed all the instructions closely. My mom, who gets frustrated easily, caught on quickly and had more fun than she expected. In the end, we had the most amazing desserts and we couldn't believe we made them or how easy they were. They were beautiful to look at, spread across the table. Then, we had so many to take back to the hotel! We ate like royalty the next few days. We also received the recipes, so for special occasions we recreate the desserts at home. Our instructor Pastry Chef Sarah T. played an integral role in keeping us on task and happy. She was so patient with us and clear in her instruction. She made sure everyone felt accomplished. We were also really impressed by how efficient her nice assistant was at taking care of our messy bowls. It really was a great family activity. I can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
For our honeymoon, my husband and I decided to skip the trinkets and instead bring home some cooking skills. We found Cook 'n With Class and decided to give the market class a go. We met two other couples at the train station relatively quickly -- It's easy to note the others who don't seem to be in a rush during morning rush hour. Alex showed up shortly after. He took us to wonderful neighborhood shops -- cheese, bakery, butcher, produce, seafood. We spent plenty of time in each and learned what to look for, how the ingredients offered differed in France versus back home in the states. Alex let us pick the ingredients and helped us with possible combinations. Essentially, he created our menu on the fly to meet with our desires. We ended up cooking squab with foie gras and pureed parsnips. There was a delicious salad with fried smelt. We created an amazing fig tart and enjoyed a cheese course. Wine was flowing. Alex even popped some bubbly to celebrate our recent nuptials. Then, a few weeks later, Alex sent us the recipes for everything we created. Not only was this an amazing experience, my husband and I both love to cook. I personally learned a lot of skills we've already put to good use. For example, slow roasting tomatoes -- who knew how easily we could do this and use it easily with other recipes. My husband loved the idea of making his own red wine vinegar. Alex explained the process. Literally one of the first things Chris did once home was order the pieces needed to get started. He's a few weeks into the process now. Overall, we'd suggest this to anyone. It is a good portion of a day. If that's too much time, consider a shorter class.

Yelp
Fantastic class! One of the highlights of our trip. Chef Patrick was awesome and did a great job teaching us, and our kids! On top of a fun, and educational, evening, we had a gourmet meal that was truly unforgettable. I highly recommend!!

Yelp
We just spent a week in Paris for our honeymoon and this is the best thing we did by far. and, trust me, we did quite Agee fun things. We did the Morning Market class with Alex and had a blast. We got to see a fresh fish market, butcher shop, and bakery. At the bakery we got to watch the baker put bread in his giant oven. It was such a fun walk around Montmartre! Then we got to go and cook. We learned to make foie gras and poached pear, braised lamb, and chocolate soufflé. It was also one of the tastiest meals we ate all week. In short, book your reservation today. The staff is warm, helpful, and talented. We had great fun and would do it again in a second. Heck, I'd go back to Paris just to do the same class again!

Yelp
A must-see on your trip to Paris, in my opinion. If you're planning a lot of walking and museums, like I did, this is a great break of standing still and focusing on a different kind of learning and creation. Chef Maxime helped our small class make five amazing desserts in just three hours and even better, I learned a lot and feel very confident I'll be able to recreate some of them on my own. Wonderful atmosphere, too, and really close to the metro. Treat yourself to this amazing experience!

Yelp
I'm here in Paris with 5 other women. We booked the Cook'n with Class for today. It was truly an adventure. Patrick Hebert, the chef, took us out to the markets, He gave us instruction on fish, meats and vegetables. We then went back and started out lesson. The day was delightful, the food spectacular and we would not hesitate to recommend the experience!

Yelp
I took the macaron class with Chef Pino and it was a great experience! The school itself is "small" (one room for cooking and one room for baking) but not exactly cramped. Overall, it's cosy, clean, and has great equipment and facilities. (Also free coffee and tea!) I like how they keep the class sizes small. Everyone got good hands-on experience and it was fun to work together. Chef Pino was very friendly and a great instructor. I was able to follow along clearly and I can't wait to try the recipes by myself when I get home in a few months. Before I leave Paris, I'll definitely take a couple more classes here!

Yelp
Okay--firstly looking at other reviews--some notes: --The area is far from dicey. Far from it. I have no idea who or what gave anyone that idea. --it is a little expensive. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it, and lower than a few other schools we looked at. Onto my own review: Just awesome. We just finished the bread cooking class an hour ago. It was truly an awesome experience--Alex was our chef instructor, he was a good guy, fun to learn from, and definitely knew his craft well. We opened up with some logistics about bread in France, moved onto making two kinds Brioche, Baguettes, and one other type of bread I've already forgotten. We were walked through each step, explained in full, as we all worked as a group to create each piece of food. Then, after the extensive course, we settled down to enjoy the fruits of our labor with wine and cheese, butter, and jams to slather onto each delicious piece of bread Or otherwise. And man--was it good. No--it was great. Pricing note: it was about 150 bucks (American) per person. I'm a pretty broke person who sways cheap, and I can say with 100 percent certainly this experience was worth every penny and more. If in Paris in the Montmartre area, do it. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Cook'n with Class is by far one of the best cooking schools in Paris (and one of the few that offer a chocolate-focused course). Pino and his assistant were kind and thorough in the (death by) chocolate class. We learned various techniques using the high maintenance bean and were able to do everything promised within the 4-hour class due to their organization and preparation. This school offers a variety of classes including sweet, savory and experimental. * Small class size * Multiple techniques in one class * Easy to follow along * Hand on experience with knowledgeable instructors * Bright and cheery baking area * Nice staff * Located in a good neighborhood for exploring Paris (18e) * Great opportunity to meet new people

Yelp
We booked as a family and were half the market class. You start at 9:30 in the morning meeting your chef-instructor and go to the various mongers and markets (meat, fish, vegetables, and herbs) plus stop by the bakery to pick up bread for your meal. The chef will make suggestions and is also open to suggestions of what to cook for your 3 or 4 course meal. We didn't go to the cheese mongers like other students but we learned what to look for and how to wheel and deal like a chef for the best ingredients. We got back an hour later and began our prep. Our cooking time ended 2:00. Personally, I found the knife skills to be the most helpful for me. It isn't something you are really taught properly in how to use, sharpen and evaluate the best knife for the situation. We prepared seared sea bass and rabbit roulade as our two mains with an apricot frangipani tart for dessert. We did go over a cheese course but didn't select the cheeses at the market (which was fine for the amount of time). The bass had a sauce that required fine chopping and a celery root that required julienned slices (see practicing the knife skills already). I personally found deboning the rabbit to stuff it with sausage both the most challenging and satisfying. My other classmates really enjoyed scaling and filleting out the bass. (Again with the knife skills, I'm going to say you are seeing a theme emerge.) We had Alex as our chef-instructor. He was knowledgeable, approachable, and lively. He moved us along, was patient with our abilities but pushed us to do better. It is what you want in a teacher. If you've really wanted to try out French cooking, I would suggest this course. Each class is unique to the students but I found everyone to be convivial. It isn't inexpensive but you could spend as much on a meal and not know how to prepare it later. Highly recommend for those curious and not necessarily the biggest home chefs. Our group wasn't pretending to be on Top Chef but had basic skills and a love of food which I think is the school's sweet spot. Your class' menu recipes are emailed after the session. So you can attempt again at home without chef supervision.

Yelp
An excellent class with Constance where we visited the market then made lunch. The market trip was interesting but my favorite part was the hands-on prep work in the kitchen. The whole group was only 8 students (all East Coast Americans, ha). Constance did a wonderful job getting everyone involved, explaining everything thoroughly with lots of helpful tips, and the food was delicious! She was funny, charming and kept us all on task while also giving everyone personal attention. Someone asked what she did before she started teaching, and she told us about how she started culinary school when she was 15 and the places she's worked since then so make no mistake, she is the real deal. It was an honor to learn from her and the class was truly a pleasure. If I am ever back in Paris, I will definitely plan to take another class here.

Yelp
My mother and I had the most amazing experience doing the bread making class with Chef Sarah! Leading up to the class, we were the only 2 to have signed up and we're worried it was going to be canceled as a result. Instead, we got a "private class" which allowed for more hands on experience and the chance to really get to know our Chef. She was very kind & patient and helped us through the entire process. At the end we were able to try all the bread we made (6 different variations!!) as well as take as much as we wanted home. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone considering!!

Yelp
Did the Friday gourmet food tour with Preston and this is my second food tour in Paris and this one was by far the best. We went to an out of way area of Paris with a one block strip of food stores. Candy and pastry at Sebastian Gauard with yummy almond croissants plus every stop we got something to take back to the school for lunch. 3 different types of bread, 2 deserts, cheese and meat platter, chocolates tasting, puff pastures so many different types of food and a quick metro back to the school and eating all the goodies with wine! Highly recommend this tour and school, did he croissant baking three years ago and was fun. Nice people!

Yelp
What an awesome experience! I took a class at Cook'n with Class in December 2012, and it was one of the high points of my trip. Chef Alex was entertaining and informative, sharing with us tips from his experience in baking. WIthin the course of a few hours, we made fougasse, baguette and brioche -- yet it never felt rushed. A hands-on experience, we had a lot of fun. The recipes emailed to us made it easy to duplicate the experience at home. I've gotten rave reviews from friends and family on my baguettes now, and would definitely check out other courses at Cook'n with Class when I am in Paris again.

Yelp
Fantastic macaron class and market class! Loved every moment of it! Ariana taught the macaron class and we were so happy to make four different types! All turned out perfectly and we were able to taste and still have enough to take home! Patrick took us around the market showing us how to choose the freshest fish and ingredients, teaching about different cheeses and asking us what we would like for dinner! Went back to prepare and cook our meal! Enjoyed our best meal in Paris with country pate and wine to start, a sea bass appetiser then veal with mushrooms in creamy delectable sauce, an assortment of 6 different cheeses with more wine, and finishing with chocolate soufflé with berries! Lasted over 9 hours for both classes! Do not miss this place when in Paris! I look forward to being able to return!!

Yelp
After 5 days walking around Paris, I was completely exhausted. There's only so much my little feet could take of walking around the (amazing!) city. I signed up for this class so that I could relax while having a unique experience. I'm so glad I did! Chef Alex was friendly, funny and talented in the kitchen and was a pleasure to be around. The company was great, the food was delicious, and I got to try lots of new food. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Cook'n with Class has been one of our favorite parts of our trip to Paris! We took the croissant making class and we made four different types: original, chocolate, raisin, and apple. The recipes and directions were emailed to us directly in the beginning of class so we could make them again at home. They all were so delicious as we enjoyed them with wine at the end of the class- and even got to take home a huge bag of leftovers afterwards! Chef Alex was friendly and funny; he explained and answered every and any question we had about Paris culture and cuisine. He even gave us great recommendations of local restaurants and bars to try. If we had more time in Paris, we definitely would take another cooking class. Thanks so much, Alex!

Yelp
I have taken almost all the cooking classes at Cook'n With Class. From beautiful macarons, to a French baguette, to patisserie, market class, and finally molecular gastronom--they all are amazing. Small, individualized, and informative classes are what you will get. This school is a hand's on program, no demonstrations here. The instructors are caring and fun, and will engage about ingredients, methods, short-cuts, and shopping. Each instructor brings their passion and insights to the class and shares their knowledge with you. An email is sent with the recipes and the school continues by being available when you re-create at home. I highly recommend Cook'n With Class to anybody who loves food or wants to learn about the art and craft of cooking and baking. It is a real find in the City of Light.

Yelp
Best day in Paris Cooking with Class is a not to be missed experience in Paris if you love to cook. Chef Alex walked us around the markets of Paris to choose our foods and experience market shopping Paris style. The cheese shop was my personal favorite, so much wonderful cheese, so little time.....We then brought our food back to the kitchen for a multi-course meal paired with wine. We all (6 persons) took turns prepping and preparing the meal and then enjoying the fruits of our labor. Well worth the price. Definately my favorite day in Paris.

Yelp
A friend and I took the Mad About Choux class at Cook'n With Class in Paris on August 29, 2014. It was a great experience and the highlight of my Paris trip. Chef Pino Ficara was an amazing instructor with impeccable English, a wealth of knowledge, and the patience of a saint. There were only four students in the class and everyone fully participated. I probably asked more questions than most and his answers were articulate, educated, and helpful. There is so much that you cannot learn from a book or video, that the chef taught us. He was also very helpful in where to find resources in the United States. We left the class with a bagful of goodies to take back to the apartment and brag about. Having not been in Paris in over 10 years, this experience made me want to come back for more lessons. Friends took the desserts class the week before and a similar fabulous experience. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who loves to cook.

Yelp
Of all the things we did in Paris - this was by far the best. Chef Alex was knowledgeable, skilled, inclusive, and simply fun. He educated us about everything from regions where cheese was made (as well as the why and how), where the seafood came from, manners when in a French home, he knew the local vendors and introduced us, and of course he taught us new cooking skills on top of new recipes. I have been making the recipes already! Working with our group drew us close and we all had a blast. The market, chef, class, and food was incredible. A woman in our group was there for a second time. We will definitely return if we come back to Paris.

Yelp
This is an Awesome all Day Cooking Class with Master Chef Brian Defehr. This is our second time doing this, when visiting Paris, France. We started the day by shopping at local market to purchase meats, vegetables, fruits and cheeses. Then we went back to the modern cooking class, where we learned how to cook a delicious 4 course meal. We highly recommend doing this as a family!

Yelp
I did this class with my two teenage daughters and it was well worth it. You will learn a tremendous amount about baking and have a great deal of fun. Our instructor, Sara, was patient and extremely competent, a true professionally trained chef. We made baguettes, cinnamon rolls and a host of other baked goods, you will come away with a true appreciation for art of baking and a nice bag of fresh made goodies.

Yelp
Outstanding use of Euros, time and taste buds. I took the market and cooking class with our chef extraordinaire, Patrick, a Frenchman who lived in the US for 30 years and considers him selfs a Shreveport expat! His guided tour of the market and lesson on how to buy, serve and pair cheese was worth the price of admission within the first 20 minutes.... But there was more, so much more! The meal is based on what is seasonal, fresh and catches the chefs fancy - their "carte blanch" is wide. We chose fois gras, fish with haricot verts, delicate tomatoes and poached fennel... Best meal/deal in Paris! Cheese plate with 7 tasting and a chocolate tart with candied orange peel, so simple even a caveman (albeit a foodie one) can make it, yet sophisticated enough to impress Napoleon himself (I'm not pushing it! Really). Our chef for the day was warm, charming, witty, fascinating, down to earth and truly a great teacher - inspirational! He was appalled by our horror stories on T. Haussmann and other stuck up places, and made other recommendations on surviving Paris on the budget gourmand way. Other fellow students (what a superb group from US and Canada - and ps keep your eyes open for www.marlomoo.com food/travel blog) who took other classes stated that every class offered was just as amazing! This is a home cook foodies place to hang with other REAL fellow foodies! Wine flows, conversation is all food, family and friends, and you learn more about yourself and your taste buds and simple French cuisine in a couple of hours than gluing yourself to Julia Childs reruns (uh... Not that there's anything wrong with the great grand damme/mamman of foodies!).

Yelp
Had an amazing Advanced Desserts class with Chef Alex, wonderful teacher. Now have some new techniques to use when I get back to my kitchen. One of the best things is that they use equipment people already have in their kitchens so I know I can recreate the fabulous things we made.

Yelp
My wife and I took the macaron making class. The instructor and the facility were outstanding. We were in a group of 6 people who participated in the hands-on class. We were amazed by the quality of what we produced. We each got to take home a dozen macaron (an assortment of the three flavors we made). We received full recipes via email after the course. We would definitely go back if we return to Paris -- some of our classmates had taken multiple classes here!

Yelp
I took a Pastry CLass with Chef Pino in Cook'n with Class. It was really good and informative. He taught us the tricks of the trade in making French Pastries. I learned a lot from it and I was able to do the recipes again when I got home in the US. I highly recommend this school. They also have other classes like cooking and baking. And, yes this is worth the money.

Yelp
My husband and I recently participated in a Morning Market Class and I can't say enough great things about the time we had! Our chef, Alex, was awesome! He started the 6 hour experience with us by shopping together in the markets for ingredients for our meal (for which we specified what we'd like to eat.) There were seven students in the class in all. The preparing of the food / cooking was such a great time. We all learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Plus, everything was, of course, delicious. This was certainly one of our favorite experiences in Paris. I would definitely recommend this class. It's not cheap but, in my opinion, it's definitely worth it.

Yelp
My husband and I decided that for our second trip to Paris, it would be fun to learn how some of our favorite bakery treats are made so we can get a taste of Paris at home. We stayed at a Haven in Paris property (Rue Livingstone) very close to CooknWithClass, which made it very convenient to get to the 9am class. Briony was our amazing instructor- she was extremely knowledgable and her instruction method ensured we understood every step. It was fascinating to learn how to make croissants, croissants au chocolat, pan au raisin and french danishes- it was so helpful to work with a professional pastry chef to get the little nuances that can be taken for granted (like getting the vanilla OUT of the vanilla bean to flavor the cream) and to pick up on tips and tricks of the trade. We ended up with two bags of goodies (that we made) to take back to our apartment, and we had snacks for the next two days! One of our favorite parts of the class was talking with Briony and finding out how the local patisseries and boulangeries would use modified steps to make the baked goods we all love to see in the windows of their shops and eat! Our other favorite part was getting to meet and chat with our other classmates! Highly recommend the class, and specifically can speak to the wonderful talents of Briony!

Yelp
Time well spent. Chef Patrick is an experienced and excellent instructor. He knows the ingredients and preparation methods. He is also very patient with klutzes like myself who have a lot to learn about kitchen procedures. I highly recommend Cook'n With Class!

Yelp
This was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to friends, as it was recommended to me by friends. Chef Alex's knowledge of French food and technique, and his relationship with our amazing food vendors, made the market tour so enjoyable. I learned a ton. We designed and cooked an amazing meal. It was also great to enjoy it over wine with classmates from all over the world. Delicious. One great option at Cook'n with Class is that you can invite a guest for the meal. So for a much lesser price, your friend/husband/etc can enjoy the meal and wine without the full commitment of doing the class.
