Even if you wanted to leave less than 5 stars ....you just can't! This place is darn near close to being heaven on earth!
So here is my take....
I'm an out of towner (I know that's not a word but in my head, it is), not familiar with the lay of the land, so when we get to the location and see it's behind the Circle K.... My spidey senses start to go up.... My thoughts... what kind of desserts are we getting???? Is Florida a pot state and if I lose my job by eating edible ice cream and not know it, I'm going to be pissed!!! FACTS!!! But I see, little kiddies and families and lot of people smiling and playing games on the side and decided to let my Covid anxiety go for a bit.
So we find the line, and I discover, this is not random people just standing around, this is the line and it's long.... I know I saw DQ, and Dunkin right down the street, why don't all these locals go there and make way for us out of towners to visit sketchy looking places in the backs of Circle K???? But we scan our menu and we wait and try to figure out the menu and wait. Then it's our turn and all I see is a bunch of bright shiny, smiley teenagers happy to serve me and patiently walking me through the menu (hmmmm.... that was strange....absolutely delightful ... but strange). So I order the medium Led Zeppelin ice cream with toffee on top and he orders the chocolate chip vanilla ice cream sandwich (two scoops).
After we order, this guy appears out of nowhere shaking our hands and introducing himself "Hi, I'm Ray". So I'm like, we are going into political season, I see signs for people running for office.... Maybe he is running for some sort of political office.... No.... Ray is the owner and has his eyes and ears on everything happening there. The safety, the trash, his patrons, his staff. As a matter a fact, he was going to buy his team lunch. Ray, the owner of this ice cream shop has perfected the entire business model all from the back of a Circle K. He has created a model of success by being hands on, not hands in, taking care of his staff, with the expectancy of his staff doing the same for his clients and creating a safe, inclusive, fun work environment ( so it's not the cookies that's dope.... It's the owner!). He has the secret sauce to success.
So now the dessert. Our ticket number is called ( you get a ticket after you pay). And our order comes out and it's this ginormous ice cream sandwich and my Led Zeppelin ice cream. Now I said the owner was dope, and the ice cream and cookies were not dope but OMFG if it were m, it would be crack. At the first taste I was calculating in my head how many times could I get back here before I leave town. Cookies and Creme is perfection.
I'm desperately trying to remember all the cons of this place.
1. Sketchy back of Circle K..... what Circle K? There's a Circle K???? All I see is wonderful, delicious ice cream and cookies.
2. Long line.... I've waited longer for others things less fulfilling. This was worth the wait. I wondered why no one in the line was angry or annoyed.... I now understand. I'd wait again.... Will probably wait today... and tomorrow.
He ordered the ice cream sandwich and he devoured it. No complaints at all. The cookies, moist, sweet, delicious. The ice cream.... Heavenly.
The service and staff, customer service driven. The owner and his wife and team see all the customers and aim to make them priority.
Great spot! Expect a wait but also expect a great experience!
