Cookman Creamery

Cookman Creamery is my favorite ice cream stop down the shore. They have a large selection of traditional and vegan ice cream flavors. I've tried a combination of both and you really can't go wrong with any flavor you choose. Each one is delicious! You can also sample flavors before deciding. My favorite is the vegan carrot cake. You can actually taste the cream cheese frosting and there's pieces of raisin! Friendly staff and adorable atmosphere with some seating inside. Highly recommend!

This ice cream shop was packed on a Sunday night, but the line moved quickly. They have a wide range of creative flavors, including an entire vegan ice cream menu. They allow you to taste before buying. I got a small scoop of the caramel chocolate pretzel. The ice cream was rich and smooth. The pretzels added nice, crunchy texture.

This place is fantastic. They have a nice list of classic ice cream flavors interspersed with unique flavors. We tried the apple pie, cosmos, and the plant-based salted chocolate. Apple pie was my favorite! The serving size was good for an average pricing. Service was attentive and quick. They are quite popular- had a line of people waiting after we ordered. A few small tables are available inside. I was also very impressed with the amount of vegan flavors they offer!

Only tried their vegan flavors but they're really good!! Great staff every time I come in at night time! And always a great environment .

Visited in summer of 2023 while vacationing in Atlantic City. I have a severe allergy to milk, so I was sold on the large selection of vegan ice cream. What is unique about Cookman that I haven't seen at many places is that the base of the vegan ice cream is different based on the flavor. This is key to a good vegan ice cream because it improves the texture of each flavor, and lets that flavor shine through. My first visit I ordered a black raspberry single scoop, and everything that our group got was so good we decided to go back the next day! My second visit I didn't hold anything back and got a PB Crunch milkshake with oat milk and vegan whipped cream. While the whipped cream probably wasn't necessary, the flavor and texture of the milkshake was amazing, and something that I don't experience too often as someone who is allergic to milk.

I love Cookman creamery! Top notch stuff. They have unique flavors which can change seasonally-- Including an extensive vegan menu! Many items off the menu, you wouldn't find anywhere else! Some of my notable favorites are Honey lavender and fruity-pebbles . Even if you order a small, you can get two flavors (2 scoops). Love this spot and will always come back

The music in the store is always banging! The vibe is so upbeat and vibrant. The people here are warm, happy with smiling faces. Many ice cream flavors to choose from. If you are vegan, they have you covered. Caramel Connundrum is delicious.

My new favorite ice cream place down the shore!! The ice cream is like no other! Soo creamy and decadent with different, seasonal flavors, and vegan options. Now--I don't live anywhere nearby but will make a trip on the way home to Cookman Creamery because it's so worth it! I tried many of the flavors, thanks to their amazing samples you could ask for but I especially love the Fruity Pebbles and salted caramel pretzel. It's a small place with a few tables inside and some more outdoors but the area is very walkable and perfect for an ice cream night.

AMAZING VEGAN ICE CREAM & SUCH UNIQUR FLAVORS... soooo creamy and delicious! We got the vegan pb crunch and the vegan bluberry biscoff. The PB crunch was more creamy because it was a peanut butter base, the blue berry biscoff was slightly more icey (still creamy) because it was coconut base. If youre a stickler for texture i would recommend a peanut butter or cashew based ice cream! You can try any flavor you want before deciding which was amazing for my indecisive self! Staff was super sweet but i did think that the line was confusing and no one knew where to go- so maybe some organization with that. The place itself was so cute and "instagrammable"- super artsy and cute with the neon signs.. also they played the best music when we went- classic 2000s throwbacks Definitely returning to try a vegan rootbeer float!!

I was staying in Ocean Grove and Cookman Creamery was a short walk away. I came here twice in a weekend, it was that good! I had a scoop of fruity pebbles and a scoop of caramel pretzel. These were both delicious flavors that I would recommend. The single scoop was pretty significant and perfect for an after dinner treat. The atmosphere was very trendy but the people working the ice cream bar were still friendly. I did try a vegan flavor that was corn flavored....hmm not for me. I am glad to see that they have so many vegan options for people that can't or don't consume dairy. If I am ever back in the area, I would definitely make an effort to get ice cream from here again!

Love it here!! The cutest little ice cream shop and it is always fresh and it never tastes like artificial in the slightest. Staff is super friendly and patient with my mom who took a really long time to figure out what she wanted :) Absolutely an Asbury staple!!!

While in Asbury Park, make a point and stop in for some delicious vegan ice cream. The scoops are generous and the ladies there are fabulous. If you can't decide on the flavor, they offer a very generous sample for you to try. They carry season flavors in both traditional as well as plant-based ice cream flavors. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as we walked by it twice without realizing it. It is a small entry but once inside, the creamery is very deep. They have a couple of bistro tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your cold delight. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Price: 4/5

Stopped by on a hot and humid day and it was the best decision ever! They have a large menu that includes dairy free/vegan options. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The ice cream was so flavorful and creamy. I tried their pumpkin flavor which was soooo good and not overly sweet with these crunchy pieces full of cinnamon pumpkin flavor! I have to say my favorite was the caramel pretzel. Wow this flavor was so delicious!!!! If you're a fan of sweet and salty this is the one to try. The sweetness of the vanilla and caramel paired with the crunchy salty pretzel was to die for! The actual shop is on the smaller side so if you plan on sitting you might not be able to as this place was packed! The service and ambiance was amazing, the staff is attentive and just overall cordial! If you're in the area and looking for good ice cream, this is the place to go!

Delicious ice cream spot with unique flavors. Visited here two times already. Just got the Belgian Cookie flavor and my husband got a PB Monster shake. Can't wait to try more of their flavors!

Ice cream done well is a simple treat and the rarest of pleasures. It exists to lay bare the silliness of modern food culture with it's overweening emphasis on curated this and artisanal that. These foodies never learn -- the last thing I want is a biography and a photographic keepsake of the animal slaughtered for my dining pleasure. Exhibit A is a double scoop of chocolate ice cream in a cup which is perfectly dense and delicious and a perfect punctuation to a mediocre meal endured elsewhere in Asbury Park. Cookman Creamery rules. Five easy stars.

I LOVE this place. I love how they have a special case just for vegan flavors and I hear some people like the vegan ones and they aren't even vegan! There are so many choices that whether you are vegan, not vegan or gluten free, you don't feel left out. They even have vegan/gluten free ice cream cones, plus, they label ice cream as gluten free (always double check when it contains cookie pieces or graham crackers). The ice cream is the best I have tried. I have tried many places and always end up saying "It's good but Cookman Creamery is better". They rotate their flavors and add new ones that are seasonal so there is always a new choice to select. You can also get your ice cream in pints and bring home to enjoy but I have never done that. I always eat my ice cream there in the store or take it out and eat while walking around Asbury Park. If you go on a summer weekend, be prepared to wait in a long line. There is always a line. But, it does move pretty fast. If you are watching your fat or calories, they have excellent sherbet. I have asked the owner in the past about the lemon and orange flavors and he says it's only fruit and sugar. They taste light and refreshing and you don't miss the cream, non-dairy or not. I definitely love their ice cream! It's one of my favorites! I even go here in the winter.

If you go on the weekend expect a wait but its worth it, they keep the line moving although the place is very small. I got key lime patty which is coconut based. A bit tart but good flavor!

I got one scoop of the Cosmos (chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips, brownies, and fudge) on a sugar cone and it was the perfect treat on a beautiful summer evening. The line can get long but it seems to move quickly. They also have a bunch of vegan options (but I love my dairy).

I was so excited to try this place because of the large selection of vegan flavors -- sadly, I hated it. Let me start of by saying I sampled a few vegan flavors. Disliked all of them. The after taste was either chalky or grainy. After sampling a few and hating them all, I decided to go with a solid go to, that I didn't think could be bad -- the pb crunch. Boy was I wrong. The first spoon left me tossing the entire cup. What a waste of money. The flavor had a peanut better taste, but it was extremely salty. It was inedible.

My favorite vegan ice cream place. I'm surprised by all the creative & unique flavors they have. They also have regular dairy ice cream selections. Indoor seating area is small but they also have a couple outdoor seating area. You can sample before you picked your flavors. Your perfect snack for this hot summer!

Here's the scoop, the chillest spot in Asbury Park is also one of its hottest. On an odd Monday evening there was a line stretching out the door. If that doesn't speak to a shops popularity then I don't know what does. The wait was not long and even if it had been, totally worth it. The servers were more than happy to let us sample as many flavors as we wanted. FYI, the flavors on the menu may not be available. More importantly, there are MORE flavors in the display case than on the board! The variety of traditional and vegan flavors are insane! Inspired choices like turmeric, ginger, Belgian cookies and more. My highest praise goes to the way they made their vegan ice cream. They somehow found the secret to making vegan ice cream as creamy as regular. I swear I couldn't tell the difference. Of the flavors I tried and would recommend, "Golden Milk" for my real foodie adventurers, "Belgian Cookie" for people looking to branch out but not dive in, and "Lions Mane Coffee" for my traditionalists. You really can't go wrong with any of them...except for the "Kitchen Sink"? Even the server didn't recommend this mish mash of hot Cheetos and other "fun" toppings

Really really good ice cream, highly recommend the fruity pebbles and the Nutella flavors.

I always go here with my friend who's obsessed with ice cream. She loves this place and we like the texture of the ice cream. The lemon cookie flavor is a classic, not too sweet but lightly fruity, not too tart. Tastes just like a lemon cookie, so good. Small spot so not super fun to eat there but I usually like to walk around downtown asbury or back towards the beach after ordering our ice cream. Even if the line is long, it usually moves pretty fast

This was one of the best specialty ice cream spots I've been to. The fruity pebbles flavor was actually very good, and not too sweet. The crunch fruity pebbles was integrated into the ice cream perfectly. The other graham cracker flavor was also made really well. Both of these two flavors together made the ice cream some of the best combo flavors I've ever had. I definitely would want to come back jus to eat these two flavors again.

Best nondairy ice cream I think I've eve had. Large variety of flavors as well as bases (coconut milk, cashew butter, peanut butter, oat milk-- very helpful for allergies!) Flavors seem to rotate. 10.50 for a pint. No complaints!

I wish I could give this 6 stars. The ice cream is so creamy and so rich and the flavors are very unique and overall very delicious! They let you try and sample a few if you're between flavors and let you get a half scoop of flavors so you can mix it . I can't rave enough about this place, just go because you won't be disappointed. Is anyone every really disappointed when it comes to ice cream anyway? Not here!

This place was really good. A lot of different flavors at a reasonable price. Service was quick and good. They let me try a few flavors when i couldnt decide what i wanted. I ended up with a milk shake and my friend got the apple pie ice cream. Both were great.

So I'm not a huge ice cream person but I loved this place! I try not to indulge in sweets too much but this ice cream was too good to pass up. Their fruit pebbles flavor is amazing. So is the cookie butter! It's a little more expensive than your average ice cream but I imagine that's because it's in the heart of Asbury and you get what you pay for. Vibe inside is very cute too. Definitely try it if you're in the area!

Extremely overpriced for regular ice cream...$5 for one small scoop. It cost $9 for 2 tiny scoops as seen in the picture. Pricing is odd. It seems like it is so expensive because everything is the same price and no dairy is more expensive..well I prefer my ice cream WITH dairy so that's what we got. 2 dairy scoops for $9! Just can't believe it. The biodegradable spoon has more plastic than a regular plastic spoon. Will not be returning. The boardwalk pricing is better.

In my top three ice cream places in Monmouth county. High quality ingredients, intense flavors, good mix of traditional and original flavors. I am not typically interested in vegan food options but the ice cream made with coconut milk is also delicious. Only downsides are a lack of seating in a small space and that the staff rushes people out by awkwardly shutting off lights, locking cases, etc. even thirty minutes before closing. Just go a bit earlier than that. It's great ice cream.

The staff helping us was excellent as my son has severe food allergies and needed vegan ice cream that wasn't cross contaminated with nut products. They opened a new container of ice cream and washed and cleaned a new utensil for scooping. Super accommodating! We will be back for sure!

Oh my goodness what an amazing place! I got a scoop of the cereal and the lemon cookie. This was decided after tasting devils food, honey lavender, and strawberry balsamic. As I paid I also tried some vegan flavors: salted chocolate almond, pistachio, key lime pie, and crunch berries. Everything was incredible! Any decision is the correct decision! Honestly, this is probably the very best ice cream place I've had in New Jersey. Drooling. I have also never sampled so many ice creams at once before because I always feel super annoying but, even though there was a bit of a line, the girls behind the counter were so efficient and didn't make me feel like I was annoying them. The only problem is that it's an hour away from me. (But that's where the refrigerator of to-go pints comes in handy!)

The ice cream was insanely delicious. What really made this 5 stars was the service. The servers were so patient with letting my daughters try different flavors, explaining the differences between them, and then bringing out chairs when we wanted to sit and the tables were full. Will absolutely be coming back.

Some seriously delicious ice cream! My daughter and I shared some ice cream and the girl helping us offered to also make it into a milkshake. One of the best milkshakes we've ever had. Great experience. Super cute atmosphere and very clean. Will definitely come back.

They have VEGAN TURMERIC ICE CREAM. That is all. They also have authentic vanilla bean ice cream.

When Yelp brings you to an unregrettable fo0odie experience! This creamery had the most reviews for ice cream while I was in the Asbury Beach & made this the last stop for the day. It was empty at 4pm but was sure glad it was because the super duper kind attendant let me taste test nearly EVERY flavor! I say it was my lucky day haha They have a GREAT selection of artisan hard flavors such as: honey lavender, whiskey cherry, PB monster, soy caramel... Vegan: cookie butter, immunity (tumeric/ginger/cinna), key lime pie, blue lavender, almond joy, ube, pistachio, strawberry balsamic The vegan flavors are outta this werrrldddd. I had to get 3 scoops: soy caramel, whiskey cherry & key lime. All so0o good, but after eating I decided that #1 was KEY LIME, #2 soy caramel & last was the whiskey cherry after all. MUST COME for amazing ice cweam! Tip Extra when you get LOTS of taste tests haha!

Yay! This is located at the end of all the stores on Cookman Avenue and they have a variety of dairy-based flavors and vegan ice cream as well. Coming from NYC, the prices are standard, so I'm used to paying these kind of prices. The staff are super friendly and help you quickly. I was immediately drawn to the lemon cookie ice cream and it was amazing!! Definitely a great spot to end the day!

I've been coming here for 4 years! My favorite was always the vegan cookie butter ice cream. When I first went vegan back in 2015, my friends and I discovered this little gem in Asbury. We were so excited to find creamy & delicious vegan ice cream!! I was so obsessed at one point I took pints home because I was always craving Cookman Creamery! To this day, I crave their ice cream. Over the past few years I've fallen in love with another flavor (still love the cookie butter though!!!) I get the lemon cookie! The ice cream is creamy & honestly tastes like a normal dairy ice cream. The lemon cookie has chunks of lemon cookie & they do NOT skimp! Delicious ! I topped my ice cream this time with fruity pebbles & put it inside their homemade waffle cone. Is it weird to say the waffle cone reminded me of popcorn a bit? But in a GOOD WAY! It went really well with the ice cream. It wasn't too sweet or vanilla- y. It was light, crispy & airy. I've seen the owner in a couple of times & he is really friendly. The place is adorable & trendy. I'll go back year after year!

I've had the regular ice cream and I've had the vegan. They are all so wonderful. Such hard choices! Great staff. Would be a 5 star but Limited seating and no bathroom.

Had heard many lovely things about this place and wanted to give it a shot. Although it being the dead of winter, there was a pretty decent amount of people inside the place. This either says two things to me: this place has really delicious ice cream or this is going to be way overhyped. I am pleased to say this lived up to my expectations! I was torn between two ice cream flavors -- the vegan cookie butter or the vegan cosmos (chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and fudge). I only wanted one scoop. The person working behind the counter said I could get both. I assumed the scoops would be small, half-sized scoops. But they were quite generous sizes in my opinion! Now, I am not the closest thing to being vegan, but I am always eager to try vegan alternatives. I've never had vegan ice cream in my life, but boy was this delicious! I really thought both flavors were delightfully creamy. The cookie butter flavor was incredible. There was a decent amount of cookie butter within the vanilla ice cream. It was as if I dipped my spoon into a cookie butter jar with a small side of vanilla. So good. The cosmos flavor was probably my favorite, because I'm a big chocoholic. Super fudgey and left me with wanting more. The prices here are quite a lot for ice cream. One scoop was $4.60. I understand that it is a trendy place and most vegan products can be pricey. The price alone is the one reason I wouldn't come here too often. I'll stick to classic Jersey Shore ice cream stands because they're equally as delicious with a more reasonable cost. However, I would definitely come back again and visit.

I really enjoyed the ice cream, I just wish I knew what was in it. A few explanations of what's in the ice cream (mainly whatever is not self explanatory) would have been great. I DO appreciate that they have vegan and vegan/gluten free options. This really helps date night work. It's a bit dark in the space, some lighter colors or increased lighting would be helpful and the service could be a little more friendly. I may visit again.

The girls working here could definitely use a smile on their face. The ice cream was pretty good, definitely loved the Cosmos!

Stopped in after hearing they were among the top ice creams in NJ. Got the cookman monster and lemon oreo. The cook cookman monater is like cookies and cream. Checking into yelp got me some free chocolate sauce on top! Really good. The lemon oreo was refreshing and has lemon oreos inside for crunch. Scarfed both 2 scoop bowls down pretty quickly. Perfect for a hot day to help lower my body temp! Cashier/server was nice - they have a barrier set up in the door like a takeout window for covid. Plenty of dairy and non dairy choices.

The options. Oh the options. And so many vegan options too...win. I had the monster which was good but just didn't wow me. I tried the recovery with cbd oil and am disappointed i didn't stick with that one. My friend wanted a milkshake and they only had soft serve vanilla available which she was saddened by. And unfortunately a few of the flavors looked highly iced over which I'm not used to seeing with fresh ice cream.
