Black Friday Is the Best Time to Buy Pots and Pans | Eater

"A French-made crêpe pan singled out as a tasteful, slightly showy purchase ("a flex") and featured in a Williams Sonoma bundle that pairs the pan with Bonne Maman’s hazelnut spread — framed as an elegant, under-$50-ish gift or a small luxury for crepe lovers." - Francky Knapp

I visited the store today a bit after 1pm with the intent to purchase a new set of pots and skillets for our new induction range. I’ve done research on the brands carried by Cooks World (Made In, Cuisinart, AllClad) but I wanted to speak with someone from the store about their thoughts on the different brands. We bought our first set of AllClad 34 years ago from CW, and remember the wonderful service. Over the years I’ve stopped by for other items and was never disappointed, until today. When I entered the store customer was chatting with 2 staff, so I went to the cookware section to gets a hand feeling of the pots. After 10 minutes I started browsing the rest of the store hoping someone would become available. I returned to the front of the store, walked past the register, then back to the cook ware section and though there were staff now available, no one seemed inclined to approach me. I came here because I want to support local businesses, but to not even get a nod of acknowledgment,,,, As I walked out the door the scene from Pretty Woman popped up in my mind “You work on commission, right? Big mistake! “

This place is amazing, they have every and anything you could possibly need to prepare a dish. We were on a hunt for a lattice roller for our beef wellington an they were the only local store we were able to locate with one. Our first visit but won't be our last as they have so much kitchen items for great prices.

I went to Cooks’ World looking for a wok for my cousins birthday. A woman assisted me with the different options they had, told me about the seasoning process and how to take care of it. Sold on the spot. I then asked if she could wrap it up for me, and she went above and beyond! She had the handle out of the box, cutting a little hole for it, put a big bow on it and everything, at no extra cost! She was very sweet and helpful. I will absolutely be back to this place for some spices for when I smoke some meats, they had a pretty wide selection. Highly, highly, highly recommend!

Google
Although they have a large selection, I did not see very basic things like a large metal spoon or metal spatula. Then when I went to checkout, I presented their business card which says "20% off any one item" and was told that doesn't apply to the brand I'm purchasing.

I bought my dream mixer here today! The Anakarsrum is here! Only authorized retailer in the greater Rochester area. And let me tell you, I am so excited. They provided me with excellent customer service and encouragement, and even a lollipop for my son (watch your kids in here, many beautiful, breakable objects.) If you cook, go here. Reasonable prices on every top of the line gadget. Top five most gorgeous stores I have ever been in.

Google
Just had my first shopping trip here and I can't wait for a reason to go again! Great selection and reasonable prices, even less expensive than Amazon or online. I was not disappointed!!

Shopping here is incredible and dangerous. Why yes, I did need a peeler and oven mitts... ...But look at that ceramic chef's knife, and that ceramic pan, and those spices, and those aprons and wooden spatulas etc. Everything you could ever think about needing in a kitchen, they've got in that small store

Google
Absolutely phenomenal selection! The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming too! I will absolutely be back!!

Yelp
Awesome small business, I'll definitely be a regular. Incredible customer service, and great inventory. They also offered to order in anything if they didn't have it onsite.

Yelp
If you're a chef, a cook, or just like kitchen supplies, this is the place for you. Knives, appliances, THE KITCHEN WORKS! Also you can submit your email in store, and they will keep you updated on their weekly sales, featured items, and any additional promotions. They're locally owned and just a great place to shop for your kitchen/restaurant needs.

Yelp
Had some damage to a knife that was sharpened (1st time out of many) that Chuck and Rebecca made right while I waited. Chuck always sharpens my knives perfectly and I wouldn't go anywhere else for sharpening or to buy anything I could possibly need. Extremely friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about everything you could need to know. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
So happy I finally stopped into Cook'a world. If you enjoy cooking, Cooks world will easily become a staple in your shopping routine. As you enter the store your eyes are met with a wonderland of appliances. I didn't know where to look first! The energy in the building was contagious. Seeing the staff so enthusiastic about cookware and supplies is exactly what I would expect and they delivered. So now I walked in and I found the treasure I was looking for-the knife section. They have very fair prices and a good assortment to choice from. I actually plan on buying a set from there! Cook's world has everything from spices and rubs, to baking items and utensils. They have appliances(small) and a large assortment of pots and pans. A wise man once said, "anyone can cook!" If your stop into Cook's World the staff will inspire you and you'll find the tools you need be the next little chef!

Yelp
Cook's World is THE place to go for any kind of cooking implement or kitchen gadget that you need, even some you don't think you need til you get into the store! I confess I visit here many times a year, usually during their big sales (which are great) and always around the holidays when I am putting together gifts for my foodie friends. They have a great selection of small stocking-stuffer kinds of food and kitchen items (think kitchen gloves, sponges, tea towels, gourmet salts and baking mixes, craft cocktail syrups, cookbooks, aprons, etc), and if you are looking for a wedding gift or something to get new homeowners started, they have it all: knives, pots and pans, coffee makers, bread makers, standing mixers, etc. They even have some more 'exotic' items like tagines from Morocco and beautiful pottery from Italy. I personally buy all my pots and pans for cooking and baking here; they are the first place I go when I need advice for something cooking or kitchen related, and whenever anyone asks me what I want for a birthday or Xmas gift, I always say a gift card to Cook's World! Stop in today and shop and support this great local place!

Yelp
I've now been here enough times for things and to get my knives sharpened. They carry all the big names in the culinary world. Somethings are reasonably priced others well they are a small local place and well... if you want your knives sharpened you have to drop them off for a few days and depending on the size of the knife the fee applies. They use to do free sharpening not sure they still do that as it was only a couple times a year. You can pick up some spices, upmarket box mixes, utensils and more. They have parking. Party on

Yelp
I needed a turkey sized roasting pan, 2 days before thanksgiving...and no one sold the one i needed/wanted, except cooks world. In my opinion that gets this place 4 stars. I would give 5 stars but the price on it was 5 dollars more than all the other stores. I suppose that is to be expected though when you visit these "ma n pa" type stores. When you pull up you will notice the business looks like an old house that was converted into a retail business.(like most of the businesses in Brighton) They seem to have all the stuff the big retail stores have...and then some. Just on a smaller scale...The inside is kinda cramped...and if there is a packed house, It will be hard to navigate around. Actually if you are a bigger person(like me) it will be hard to get in n out of the spaces where they have things on shelves. O_O Me wearing a puffy winter coat didn't help either. I kept feeling like i was going to knock things over. Still though i enjoyed looking at all the things...and wish i had more $$$. If i did i might walk out with half the store. The workers were very nice and helped my brother and I out when we asked if they had a item. Even walked us over to the item and told us if we needed anymore help to just give a holler. Thanksgiving is saved now. Thanks to Cooks world. Hooray!!

Yelp
What a wonderful place! Even during this pandemic-the warm and friendly staff (did I mention competent & professional) were able to help me find a new sauté/fry pan that is perfect for my needs. Kudos to Cooks' World for making this happen safely.

Yelp
I am 100% behind shopping local and have made many purchases at Cooks world. Today they lost me as a customer over a $12.00 whisk that I purchased as a gift. It was silicone with a silicone handle. When used, it all bent so that it was impossible to get lumps out of anything, especially pancake batter. I took it in to possibly return or exchange but was told, EVEN THOUGH IT DIDN'T WORK, it really wasn't defective. I don't care about the $12.00 but seems to me if something doesn't do the job it supposed to, then it's defective. Walked out, went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought an Oxo whisk that performs beautifully. very very disappointed in their customer service.

Yelp
I love this place. I would give it 5 stars, but some of the prices here aren't the best. The people are friendly, and when I went there to buy a present, they did a wonderful rapping job. They carry almost anything you can think of. From bowls to knives- they have it all. I would suggest coming here. It's local, and it seems to be an old house converted into a retail establishment. Need kitchen supplies fast? This is your place.

Yelp
This is the store to meet ALL needs for kitchen equipment. They are competitively priced with the most helpful staff imaginable. They sharpen knives, give lessons, place special orders, gift wrap, and offer frequent special discounts. Plus the store is so well organized, that it's easy to find whatever you need. They keep all the top brands. I've been there a hundred times over the years without a single complaint. Plus - free coffee Sharon S

Yelp
Cook's World is one of the very few cookery stores in Rochester located on Monroe Ave halfway between the city and Pittsford I'd say, and it is absolutely stellar. They have so many different eclectic and uncommon kitchen items in stock in addition to the standard equipment any home cook might need that there's a perfect niche for anyone who might enter. For a baker like myself, it's absolutely a paradise because they have so much more than what you'd find at anywhere like Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Wegmans. They underwent some renovations maybe a year or two ago and now the store is much easier to browse, has a really clean look to it, and is really able to showcase all of the cool products - especially in front! Seasonal items also come into stock every once in awhile as the holidays pop up from what I've seen. Whether you're looking for coffees, syrups, extracts, pans, mixers, knives, bread makers, pressure cookers, or anything, this is the place to go - and not only that, the price is almost always right! They tend to discount everything from their MSRPs which is just asking me to take these items off of their hands. I love this place. Friendly staff, a lot of niche supplies, and a whole lot of local Rochester spirit.

Yelp
I love this store, but I don't visit it often. The reason is simple, I need to be able to pay rent, and coming here often would prevent me from doing that. I love browsing for cooking tools, and new ingredients to play with, but I must control the urge to buy everything I see! The selection and price is similar to the mall stores, however the staff knows more about what you need, and will help you decide better. I wanted to buy a new knife and took advantage of a gift certificate I received for my birthday, and even after all the questions and trying all the things I wanted to try, they remained friendly and helpful. I ordered my knife, now I am waiting for it to arrive!

Yelp
The only place in town if you need "crumpet rings". Great selection of higher end cooking and baking equipment. Check it out next time you're thinking about the long drive to William Sonoma...

Yelp
Rochester is fortunate to have Cook's World to pick up where the big box stores leave off! They have great selection of products on display representing all major manufacturers. They additionally provide advice and gift wrapping at no extra charge. My wife and I have made many purchases there and found the store to be competitive especially taking advantage of their customer loyalty program (just ask). Service has always been knowledgeable and friendly.

Yelp
Great selection, good prices, ( and good sales), well stocked, and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend as the go to place for kitchen supplies and gourmet ingredients.

Yelp
Decent store, good selection. I went up to the checkout to pay for an item, and the woman behind the counter stood there talking to another customer for the next 6 minutes - about her granddaughter, her relocation to NYC, her boyfriend, and both their lines of work. Finally, another employee walked up to the next register and said "I'll be right with you." and walked away. She finally returned and finally checked me out. I spent more time paying for my item than actually shopping.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to shop for serious as well as novice cooks and bakers...these people know food preparation. The staff, when asked for an opinion, based on their experience, will offer it, if you need help when making a purchase. Look for the King Arthur Flour KAF line of specialty flours, mixes, baking flavorings, for those of us who don't want to pay shipping charges when ordering on-line. Whoopee! Now we can get many KAF products locally at Cook's World. The best cooking and baking equipment source in Rochester NY.

Shelly F.

Yelp
I love this store! Very friendly, helpful staff and a great selection. They carry many of my fav brands, such as Cuisinart, Nordic Ware and King Arthur flour to name a few.

Yelp
It's my very favorite place to stare at Le Crueset. Sometimes I have even been known to buy a salt crock or really good coffee.... I just love going there to inspire me to break out the Mastering the Art of French Cooking and cook! Great selection - pretty good prices if you have ever tried to buy Le Crueset anywhere else. The good stuff costs money! I love coming here... and hope it's around forever.

Yelp
i have recently found myself in a love affair with Cooks' World. It started with their most recent sale. They kindly offer very handsome sales 2x per year, so I investigated the items I wanted to buy and found them to be competitively priced with the package stores and Amazon ... so why not give the business to a local shop? Hope all of our community will join me in shopping small, and shopping local! Here are some motivators: free brewed coffee all day long! They offer an incentive program where you earn cash-back that you can apply whenever there is *not* a sale ... so it's kind of like offering a sale year-round. And if you get on their mailing list, you get weekly and sometimes bi-weekly advertisements of specials they're offering ... and updates for when they offer FREE knife sharpening! But most of all, it's the service. They have researched the best of the best for you, so that you don't have to spend time reading reviews. Just show-up with what need you're trying to fill, and they will walk you thru their best options, and will help you find something perfect. Win-win ... you're helping sustain a local business, and they're helping you enjoy your cooking and baking all the more. 5-stars from me! Wouldn't change a thing!

Yelp
I bought the 10 piece pot set with the 7 piece back set and the kitchen tool set. the product at a bridal show only 3 weeks ago, it came in the mail fast which was good. I read all the instructions and followed them step by step. I watched the video and read the warranty word for word. The pots I ordered are CRAP, the top handle or ( whistle ) part snapped off the cook sheet and pizza sheet warp in the oven, there is NO return policy. The pots take FOREVER to heat up, it cooks the food at a monumentally slow rate. I get that cooking food slowly is better for your health but 45 minuets to cook some pasta or soup or anything for that matter is Insane!!!! I payed over 2k for the whole lot of what I bought and I will NEVER EVER buy anything from this company again.

Rose D.

Yelp
I hadn't been to this store in years ( since WS opened ) as I was walking in to buy a small item (less than $5.00) I thought I should start coming to this store more often as they are a small local business. I have to say I won't be doing that as the clerk was so rude to me I couldn't wait to get out of the store. WOW I highly recommend you go to the mall to WS as their clerks can't help you enough and don't speak to you like you are not a paying customer. One day later and I still can't get over how she barked at me...I got to work and told my friends how rude the clerk was and 2 of the other woman at work said oh, yes I have been in there and they are very rude!!!!

Iwanna B.

Yelp
They do have a GREAT selection but the staff is snooty to deal with. If your not dressed in a designer outfit and look like you have money to spend, its difficult to get assistance. The staff can be rather condescending and I felt like I wasn't worthy of their products. I avoid this place unless I really need something. I can always find identical if not similar items online for much less. I shopped there once with a black friend of mine who was having a BBQ at his house and the dirty looks we kept getting as we shopped made us both rather uncomfortable. They looked at him like he was ghetto trash and he in actual fact has a nursing degree with a very good paying job. We went elsewhere to buy what we needed for his function. Myself, I am a T-shirt and jeans guy and a professional cook. I want quality cooking tools for my career in the food industry but I'm just not a flashy person. I think the store is overpriced but if your into status and want bragging rights for what you paid for your cooking utensils, this is the place for you.
