Cool River Coffee House

This small shop by the river has great food and beverages! We ordered 4 different sandwiches and shared among our group. Each one was made with fresh ingredients and very tasty! I had lavender matcha tea, nicely done, too. Although the space was small and line was long. We entered the shop around 1 pm and there were 10 people waiting. However, it was worth of waiting for the food.

Decided to grab breakfast from Cool River Coffee House while visiting for the day. We took our time ordering since we didn't know what to get and the workers were slightly helpful in assisting us. We went with a Pumpkin Pie Latte, Tropical Bowl and Quinoa Bowl. Latte was very good and so was the Quinoa Bowl. The Tropical Bowl was alright but it was very different than what I expected. Overall, it was a good experience and there are plenty of food and drink choices.

Service was extremely mid, if not below average. I ordered an iced latte and when the guy with brown curly hair (didn’t catch his name) handed me a hot latte I politely told him that I had asked for iced and he immediately gave me attitude, even though I apologized and was trying to be as nice as possible. He handed me my iced latte with a bothered look and didn’t say one word. Cool. I understand it was busy, but I’ve worked in service and there’s no reason to act that way. On top of that, we ordered two breakfast burritos that took over 30 minutes to come out and was carelessly thrown together. Mind you we ordered spicy burritos and they were extremely bland and loosely wrapped. I expected much better for $50 for two coffees and two burritos. Really disappointing. Sad to say I won’t be finishing my almost $20 burrito. As a local, this was my second time coming here. I didn’t enjoy my experience the first time but decided to give it one more shot. I will never come back here and I’ll make sure to warn my friends to stay away. If you’re looking for good coffee AND food, go to The Crown. It’s a much better experience and definitely worth the wait. Do better cool river.

Cool River Coffee House is one of those places that doesn’t do anything bad, but they don’t do anything exceptionally well either. The coffee is average. The food is good, nothing unique. The service is utilitarian. They do their job well, but aren’t engaging in a relational way. This isn’t a bad thing. It’s just the way it is.

My family and I went to this coffee shop, we ordered avocado toast, a couple of grill sandwiches, and also tried their pastries. All the food was delicious. The place is small, but there is space to sit outside and they have heaters . I will Definitely come back.

Great food, friendly and excellent service, good latte flavors, delicious coffee, and very fun atmosphere. Plus heated outdoor tables in addition to the tables inside.

Yummy brekkie, big portions, oh & be sure to buy the chapstick at the counter. It's great for the skin especially if dry or eczema. I'm back home in Texas & will be ordering for Christmas presents!

Delicious coffee and drinks! Dropped by here twice during our stay in Breckenridge. Service at the register was a bit slow, but they mentioned they just switched to new systems. Staff was friendly and the environment was clean. Definitely recommend

I liked the concept of this local coffee spot. My wife and I arrived bright and early (they open at 7am) to pickup coffee and something for breakfast before a 7:30 puck drop at the rink down the street. Not a long wait to be served and the staff was friendly. We ordered a small white mocha and an apple turnover. I ordered a large (16oz) Mexican mocha, with a 'Eggman with bacon' sandwich on sourdough. Everything was ordered to go. We waited about 10 minutes and were in our way to the rink. I got to the rink and tried my coffee... it was more like warm milk with some spice. Not bad... but not great either! My wife said the same about her drink choice. My sandwich was piping hot, but had zero flavor. The bacon was salty, the eggs were bland (no salt or pepper), and the bread was mushy. All in all, not a terrible choice but also not a great one. I don't recommend this spot for coffee.

Update: Solid 3.5 - 4 based on today's experience! Decided to try again out of convenience but much better experience. Breakfast scramble was way more tasty than veggie scramble and the passion fruit gf/vegan doughnut was delicious! Hubby enjoyed the bacon breakfast burrito way more than chorizo and we asked for extra salsa upfront which helped avoid confrontation. Americanos were yummy. Solid 3 stars. We ordered our food and although there was a line it went pretty efficiently. It gets bottlenecked but comes/goes in waves. The food was decent - not spectacularly flavored or anything and pretty small portions (scramble) but I was glad to have options. My husband asked for an extra salsa because his burrito (which seemed regular vs large portion) barely came with any inside and staff seemed reluctant to provide though we did tip 18% which I was irritated with - they set their min tip at 18% and Im sorry but there's no real service as you order at a counter and wait for your coffee. And the issue with extra salsa after we tipped over $8 was super annoying. Was glad to have a gf/vegan muffin option but it wasn't great. Husband said his regular bb muffin was the worst he's ever had and very grainy texture.

Cozy spot with decent food, an excellent cinnamon roll, okay coffee, mixed service, and limited seating.

Best Biscuit and gravy I've had in Breckenridge! And I've tried them all. Fantastic gravy rich and savory with large chunks of sausage liberally plated over a perfect biscuit. Dog friendly back patio offers plenty of shade and CW music. Service was fast and friendly

Amazing! It's a little hidden breakfast spot but had great reviews - they had a DJ playing music, there were locals working, and overall a great experience. The food and coffee were delicious and the staff was very helpful and nice! Would definitely come back to this spot

We visited Cool River while in Breck for a wedding and it was one of our favorite breakfast spots! They have lots of options ranging from savory to sweet, and a slew of yummy pastries. I ordered a smoothie bowl and a blueberry lemon cake, both were very good. The mocha/coffee was alright, wish I would have gotten a flavored one to spicy it up a bit more. Would definitely go back!

Great cozy coffee house with excellent patio. Cool River has a wide variety of great pastries and teas, too! This place was packed early in the morning when we were there, so we knew it's was a good find. They do veggie-forward really well. If looking for a hearty meat-forward breakfast to start your day, there may be better breakfast options off Main Street. September 2024

Great service! Cute coffee shop with lots of options! Baked goodies to made to order breakfast burritos, bowls and sandwiches. I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk and it was perfect! The egg breakfast sandwich on wheat bagel was tasty. And despite the wait to order, it was made and given to us quickly. The folks working here are hustling and on it! Definitely would be here all the time if I lived in the area. There is some seating inside but even more tables outside.

I would not go back here. I ordered a latte "extra hot " and got what I would describe as luke warm at best. I also ordered a large mocha. The cup was only 3/4 full. I paid approx. $15 for not so good coffees.

Highly recommend for locals and tourists. This is an incredible coffee shop as they have such an expansive menu - anything you want - they got it. Food, morning or lunch... coffee drinks and tea and then beverages with alcohol as well. The staff is always incredibly friendly and the food and drinks are some of the best for the morning in Breckenridge.

I stopped in Cool River to grab a quick breakfast. The location came highly recommended to me by a local. There was a line but rightfully so, it is a great location with a nice patio in back and backs up to the river. They also had a front yard with table and chairs for additional seating. Whether you want to eat in or take it to go, they prepare your food and drinks accordingly. I grabbed a burrito and chocolate croissant. Both where very flavorful and the staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive.

This is the only place that opens at 7a for breakfast on the weekend. I had the quinoa bowl and it was so delicious and filling and the spicy salsa was so good! I also had a banana apple flax muffin, which was good but was dry. All of their other pastries looked amazing. I went out on a limb and tried their vanilla blackberry latte and oh boy was I hooked! I was hesitant thinking it'd be too sweet and fake tasting and it was very light and natural tasting. It was probably one of the best flavors I've ever had! My only downside (besides the dry muffing), was the service was really slow and it got packed quick.

I don't go to Breckinridge often, but this place makes me want to stop by more! The breakfast bagel sandwich was made to perfection and so soft and hearty to start off my morning. I went back twice to try the honeycomb latte and the pistachio berry. The honeycomb was easily a top coffee that had the perfect amount of honeycomb and espresso. The pistachio berry was interesting and I'm so glad I took a chance because while the pistachio was subtle and the overall flavor was complex and interesting. This shop probably isn't the place to sit down and have a quiet conversation, but it's lively and the staff are all friendly and kind. Can't wait to come back!

Cool River Coffee House was one of the few breakfast spots open in Breckenridge on Christmas. The coffees were tasty and made to order, and the breakfast sandwiches, burritos and pastries were satisfying. Although there was only one employee running the establishment that morning, she was terrific and calm. The coffee shop is rustic and seats about 20 people, and was decorated for Christmas with greenery and a tree that boasted five golden rings.

Stopped in here one Saturday around lunchtime to grab a meal, upon the recommendation of a gal working at another coffee shop. It was consistently busy throughout my entire visit, with a long line through the restaurant at one point. But the team got everyone through in a timely manner! Before arriving, I thought "Coffee House & Bakery" meant there would be a coziness about the place, with some big chairs and spots for reading. However, this place was definitely more like a quick service restaurant. No big chairs or cozy reading spots. All low top or high top tables. I ordered the quinoa bowl and switched out the sunny side egg for scrambled with half and half salsa. It was tasty, but I didn't love that it was served in a paper boat, giving it the feel of food you'd order at a food truck, even though this was a sit down restaurant. Not completely overpriced, given that this is in a resort town. Which was nice. The pastries looked amazing and I saw that customers kept ordering them, particularly the pumpkin pastry with icing. I will definitely come back to give the pastries a try! Overall, a decent spot if you are looking for some quick, no-frills food, with nice service and at a decent price.

Came to Breckenridge (and Colorado in general) for the first time ever and started off the day with some warm drinks and a morning snack here! I ordered a Chai Latte and then also got the Vanilla Chai Muffin (warmed up, of course). Both were so tasty, and the vibe of this place was too cute. Honorable mention to the bathroom - which was a really fun design and super clean. It was literally SNOWING and we sat outside under a heater, and weren't really cold at all! Highly recommend this spot

Super yummy! Went this morning with my kid. Nice vibe! They had a live Dj. We sat outside on the back patio as inside is tiny and has maybe 5 tables. Once ordered, the food came out pretty quick. Much faster than I was expecting with how long the line took. The line was long but excessively so. The back patio was very nice this morning and the live Dj was great! Definitely recommend!

It was so alive, lots of people. It was very cozy, good hot chocolate the food was so good. If i ever come again i will be ordering the Spicy steak sandwich

Smallest burrito I've ever paid $14 for. Also our cashier was really rude and kept looking everywhere else like we were inconveniencing her.

Average lattes. Average service. We didn't order any food but options looked really good, including all the baked goods in the case! Otherwise very cute and decent outdoor seating.

This was the only restaurant that I went to more than once during my stay in Breckenridge. This restaurant has a great vibe! Don't trust social media posts on the other restaurants. This is the place to grab a latte and quick breakfast. This place has a heart and you can feel it!

Went here back to back mornings during a stay in Breckenridge. Line was always out the door as it appeared to be quite popular. Their coffee is good and their food is phenomenal. Lots of breakfast options and fast service from the kitchen. The coffee tends to take a bit longer but enjoyed sitting outside while waiting to hear my name. I ordered the Salome's breckie sandwich and it was a great signature breakfast item. Pretty big sized sandwich and lots of prosciutto. The garlic aioli gives it great flavor. They also have a vanilla chai muffin that's gluten free and vegan. Loved having that to snack on throughout the day. Definitely a go-to breakfast spot off of Main St.

Perfect spot to start your day in Breckenridge. We were a party of 12, started off with a few cappuccinos, mochas, regular drip coffee and a Bloody Mary. All the drinks were spot on. For breakfast, we got a few egg-man sandwiches, veggie bowls, meaty bowl, biscuits and gravy between all of us. The food was good, except the meaty bowl. Overall, a simple grab and go place with a small sit out area, friendly staff and decent service. I definitely recommend trying this place if you are looking for breakfast in Breckenridge. Note: Be ready to wait at-least 30 mins. It can get quite busy during weekends and peak times.

Hands down, this is absolutely the best breakfast in Breck! I highly recommend the brekkie sandwich - the prosciutto is thick cut, garlic aioli smear and arugula gives a nice flavor, and acid if the tomato perfectly balance this sandwich! Hands down my favorite, but... those breakfast burritos! Can't go wrong with any choice! Coffee is fresh and flavors are more subtle, not like the overly sugary stuff from Starbucks. The unique flavor combinations (blackberry and lavender, hazelnut and Carmel) were delish! They offer oat milk and sugar free options! If you're vegan or have a gluten allergy, Cool River has what you're looking for. So many of the pastries (maple donuts, anyone?!) are GF/V. Bread for the breakfast sandwiches is also GF. And if you're not GF don't worry, the bread is awesome! Service is always super friendly. Order at the counter, a number is given, and your food is delivered. Online ordering available too! Seating area is small, but ample seating outdoors is offered. Get here early for breakfast, the lines start when the doors open (but seem to subside around 10).

This place is LEGIT! From the service, the food/pastries and coffee you can't go wrong. We came here literally everyday and it never got old. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Trust me this is a MUST when in Breck you will not be disappointed

Cool River never disappoints. Always a highlight when we are in Breckenridge. Outstanding baked goods, sandwiches (huge) & coffee. Reasonable price, great service & dog friendly!

Popular place so be prepared to wait on a weekend for brunch. You can order ahead for pick up though! The bakery items weren't online so I waited in line. Our son wanted donuts and I was hoping they'd have a vegan option for him. The sprinkle icing donuts were not vegan so he wasn't upset about that but finally settled for the cinnamon sugar donut holes that were. They were so good! We also got cold brew and an iced lavendar vanilla latte. I'd like to stop back by for breakfast. We sat outside and listened to a guy playing guitar on the patio. It was a busy bustling place!

My favorite spot to pop into while I'm in Breckenridge. Walking distance from where I stayed. I have many favorites from this place. I liked the lavender white chocolate mocha, the steak sandwich is probably my favorite lunch I had all week. So good caramelized onions and peppers. Topped with a spicy mayo, I will think about it until next year. I bought plenty of different pastries over the week and it was nice to have really tasty quick grab options. The place was clean, I was happy to sit by the window and people watch. Staff were all kind and had great recommendations.

What a nice discovery! And this coffee shop appears to be locals' favorite (at least one of them who runs a spice shop on the same busy Main Street said this is her favorite coffee spot!) It's not exactly on the main street (well, the one of the entrances faces a side street; the other entrance faces another side street!! It's in this building with other merchants so the actual address may say xxxx Main Street. I hope you know what I'm talking about.) On top of the typical drinks a typical coffee shop offers, this shop's breakfast and lunch menu is pretty darn extensive (I posted a picture of it so please refer to it.) I got me what I always get: doppio. To go along with my double espresso, I got one of the Salted Caramel Apple bars. This is quite the size! The pastry was only $4.95. For a mountain town that boasts a world class ski resort, this price is in a very reasonable/affordable range. I certainly appreciate this! The Doppio tasted so good. And the pastry was pretty decadent (not in a bad way though!) I was able to eat only half of it in one sitting so I saved the rest for later. This coffee shop's got a cool vibe to it. Employees are laid back and welcoming (I was warmly received!!) On a cold wintery day, it'd be a great spot to sit inside and sip your favorite drink. I highly recommend when you are in Breckenridge.

Highly recommend stopping here for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is served all day and there is a wide variety of sandwiches, bagels, pastries, and smoothies. Lunch offers sandwiches and soups. Great drip coffee! Not burnt like some other coffee shops in Breck. Service is amazing. Greeted warmly by the staff. They will bring your food if you sit. Indoor and outdoor seating with great views of the river.

My boyfriend had the breakfast quesadilla and I had the cool river breakfast burrito. They were both served steaming hot and full of flavor. The staff is cool... wait time was acceptable. The ambiance is very relaxing and what you'd expect to see where locals might hang out. My boyfriend also got the Breck Bloody Mary spicy and said it was very good. I didn't take a picture in time before he drank it halfway down.

Pretty large menu for this adorably tiny cafe on the river. Service was warm and speedy. Lots of vegetarian, vegan and meat items. They serve booze and traditional coffee shop beverages. Cappuccino was perfectly made and delicious. Breakfast all day perks were fantastic! I had the special, Brekkie with grilled cheese, prosciutto, cheddar, arugula , garlic aioli, friend egg on sourdough (I ordered it without prosciutto). HOLY YUMMY BREKKI absolutely delicious and not messy to eat. The hubs totally stole as many bites as he could get. Hubbie had breakfast quesadilla and said it's good. Could use more egg but was over all well flavored and filling.

The perfect spot for a quick breakfast/lunch in Breck. Plenty of drink options - both alcoholic and non. So many delicious food choices - whether you are wanting breakfast, lunch, or just a pastry. The cafe is rather small so it can be hard to find a table. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

My wife and I had an amazingly good vanilla latte here -- the coffee had a fruity character which reminded me of the Geisha coffee we'd had in Taiwan. Also a nicely flaky cherry turnover. Service was friendly and very quick. The place has a calm atmosphere adjacent to the Riverwalk. We look forward to returning for more.

Had lavender vanilla matcha. It was decent but the winner was the vegan elderberry croissant. That was delicious. The shortbread cookie not so much. Enjoyed the back patio under heat lamps while drinking tea.

By far the best breakfast in the Vail Valley, grab and go or sit down. And the espresso drinks are awesome. The breakfast burritos are incredible, and the try-tip breakfast biscuit is so delicious.

The vibe. The service. The food. Oh my! We stumbled across Cool River Coffee House on Yelp as we were headed out of Breckenridge, and I was instantly kicking myself I didn't try them sooner. We ordered 2 breakfast burritos, 1 iced caramel latte, and black tea. Everything was PHENOMENAL. I'm literally still dreaming of these burritos. If only y'all could ship them to Texas, I'd be in heaven!

Very cute breakfast spot. Good coffee. Nice selection of items for breakfast. The courtyard is very nice to sit and enjoy your coffee under the big tree. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Very cute little cafe on the southern end of Main St. Seemed like a popular spot in the morning with a good level of activity despite Main Street itself still waking up. Menu was exhaustive for a breakfast shop, good set of drinks, pastries, and heartier breakfast items (sandwiches, burritos, etc.). Coffee and Dirty chai were amazing. Food was good - fresh, maybe a little light on the spices and seasoning but they had a very well stocked condiment section. Outdoor seating in the back by the creek was phenomenal. Will definitely be back for breakfast and chill.

Best latte I have ever had - you must try the caramel hazelnut latte! So delicious. Food is very good too and the employees are very nice! Great way to finish off our trip to Breck!

Cute cafe. Expect tourist town prices, but nothing outrageous. I will come again. Nice place for breakfast Meaty Bowl - winner Breakfast burrito - winner Smoothie bowl - winner, it's huge Brecky sandwich - winner Chicken biscuit - not good. It was a chicken patty on a biscuit, but wasn't crispy and was similar to a school lunch chicken patty

The staff here are super friendly and patient, which I love. Their breakfast and brunch items are all delicious. I bring my friends here when they visit as I want to ensure there are plenty options of lots of delicious food. My personal fave is the Meat & Potatoes on a cheddar jalapeño bagel. Mmmmm. The tacos are also fantastic as is the quinoa bowl. This is just to name a few. Oh!! Definitely try their cinnamon roll (warmed). Lovely setting sitting at the side of Blue River where there is all sorts of people and puppies to watch.

Cute little coffee shop in a cute Colorado town! I ordered a honey coconut latte decaf with almond milk. The service was great and fast. They made sure they got everything right and were very friendly. I loved the cute little art they drew on my drink, it's rare that you get cute latte art on a to go coffee. The coffee was so tasty! Make a stop here and try the tastiness!

We got iced lattes and a breakfast burrito while visiting town. Service was friendly and quick. We did takeout but inside and outside seating was available. Definitely recommend.

Mediocre service, pricey, food is good not great. $2 for a refill on a 12oz drip coffee seems excessive.
