"The Coolidge Corner Theatre is a gift. This deco wonderland has been in operation since 1933, and it routinely projects films shot on 70mm film, which makes for lush and stunning pictures. Its beer and wine menu consists of various reds, whites, and rosés, along with bottles, cans, and draft beers from mostly local breweries. The next time it shows something in 70mm — no matter what it is — go see it, and also keep an eye out for the boisterous and strange late-night programming." - Terrence Doyle

I'm so thrilled about the theater addition that has kept the old theater exactly the same as it had been. What they've done should be a gold standard for modernization of historic buildings. Both new and historic can coexist! The programming itself remains exceptional. If I could I'd be there all the time. If you've never been, please look into what they offer! You will find something for you there.

Google
I started the addition - and they ended up with a non- union company finishing…was back there cuz they did a cool gathering for S.O.S wildlife (whom is an AMAZING organization) 30 yr anniversary. Presentation and Snacks/ Drinks after. Barely had any vegan options and it was a event for animals…

Google
Clean, comfortable and friendly. Showing fun films like Goonies, but also meaningful ones such as No Other Land which are thought provoking.

Google
Newly remodeled, the theater has a balance of all the beautiful historic style with a fresh lobby space and comfortable seating. They also feature interesting local food and beverage options in addition to the traditional popcorn and candy selection. We were there for a live event, and the staff and tech were great. The movie lineup looks interesting, so I'm sure we'll be back.

Google
They just remodeled. The ticketing area and concessions are updated and they still offer high end local snacks and beer like Q’s nuts and Taza chocolate. The fresh popcorn with butter is perfect. The theater is still gorgeous and offers ample seating for feature films.

Google
What an amazingly historic looking and feeling theater. Walking distance from hotel, clean, has a bar and excellent theater food. Onto the movie although this is not a movie review… LONGLEGS, sure to be touted as a master piece, artsy, Nick Cages finest and most creative work in years…. I love movies I love Nick Cage, and yes I understood the movie it was just weird, on the same scale as Hereditary.. freaking weird

Gerry Gan

Google
Great venue for art house and classic movies. The seats can be a little tight, but it's well maintained with a recently upgraded lobby extension.

Sherry G

Google
Great to find an amazing array of diverse movies. Enjoyed the movie, great ambience. Beautifully remodeled. The male staff in the morning of 05/10 could have been less rude and less dismissive to a simple inquiry. Otherwise a great experience.

Yelp
I am a long time member of the Coolidge and just upped my membership to get more perks. They show first run films, but frankly, I can see those anywhere. What I go there for is their Signature Programs (Science on the Screen, Big Screen Classics, etc.) and their Educational Programs. They have series on different topics but also bring in a film critic or professor to deliver a 50 minute seminar before a particular film. I've seen great lectures on Clockers, Do the Right Thing, All About Eve, The Big Lebowski, and many more. During the pandemic there was a fantastic educational series on Zoom about the films of Roger Corman. Oh, and let me not forget their movie marathons--last year I saw The Lord of the Rings marathon, and just this month The Matrix trilogy. Coming soon is the "Before" series with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Need I say more? Their programming is exceptional, and the staff responsible for it, who often come in to introduce the films, are knowledgeable and personable. Attending a film there is a treat. The theater is clean, with one large screen on the ground floor a mid-sized and two smaller screens on the 2nd floor. (Stay tuned, they have been building an expanded area for the last year or so and should be due to open soon, which will offer more screens, and INDOOR ticket purchasing (CC fans know what I mean!) Plus an auditorium for educational events. There is a good sized public parking lot behind the theater, and often on-street parking as well. Oh and Coolidge Corner is awash with fantastic places to eat if you want to do lunch/dinner and a movie. I can't say enough about the staff, friendly, dedicated, and more than competent. The popcorn is fresh and served with REAL BUTTER! Wine and beer are available in the evening. The Coolidge is also a presence in the Brookline and Boston community. They've hosted author events in partnership with the Brookline Booksmith across the street (Karin Slaughter, Michael Connelly, Harlen Coben), and feature musicians from the Brookline Music School before each of their Cinema Jukebox series (last one I saw was School of Rock which was awesome!). They also partner with the Huntington Theater and show films that relate to a current production, bringing in people associated with the production for a Q and A after a film. I could go on and on, I am leaving out other unique aspects to the Coolidge (awards that bring in high flyers like Ruth Carter, Julianne Moore, Meryl Streep and Michael Douglas! NT Live presentations! ) Take a look at their website to see what else. In an era when local independent theaters are sadly closing, The Coolidge is a model for excellence and sustainability.

Yelp
Great place w fabulous movies showing. Just go and see whatever is showing. I guarantee it's worth it.

Yelp
i've heard so much about this theatre and i am so glad i finally got to see it! coolidge corner theatre is one of two theatres in the boston area that's showing bottoms (limited release) and i am soooo glad we went here! this theatre is a nonprofit, so even though their prices are not necessarily budget-friendly (about 18$ with taxes per adult ticket), you definitely feel better about supporting their cause versus a giant chain. they also have a multi-tiered membership program that can score you free or reduced fare tickets, 20% in concessions/bar, and exclusive access to members-only events. you can even get a student discount on their base plan! the theatre has a vintage feel, especially during the credits close to the start of the film, when they start playing old-timey animations. i also recommending buying your tickets for pick up at will call (free) so you can have a keepsake of your visit! if you're on the green C line, it's a straight shot to the theatre, which makes it even better for commuters, and is right in the heart of coolidge corner's shopping and restaurants!

Yelp
Grew up going there and watching classics and Charlie Chaplins films in the 2 story antique staged theater with huge screen. Lately went with my kid to see a comedy, we were seated in tiny theater capacity approximately 30 chairs. A profound change. Not sure what's going on there. Will go again if they stop showing all the politically charged woke propaganda BS on daily basis. Definitely not the sort of films I grew up watching in this beloved theater.

Nasarah M.

Yelp
Love when they do themed movie months! It's a clean and small theater in the heart of Brookline.

Charles B.

Yelp
One of the best theaters in Boston Massachusetts Always clean and bar well stocked and great popcorn

Yelp
Warning: I'm going to sound like such a snob here but I have to be honest. I'm not crazy about this movie theater. I'll preface by saying: - I love what they're doing in the community. - I love that it has an old school aesthetic - I love that it's an independent theater. It's VERY much needed. - I've only been once. I saw the film 'Dont Worry Darling' which is beautifully shot but it was playing in such a small theater that I didn't feel like I got the best possible experience. I don't like paying $15 to see a movie on a 300 inch screen with basic sound quality with a sold out crowd of 30 people. It's just not for me. I want to see a movie on screen that is 65 feet wide that I can't afford with premium sound quality. I understand they have bigger rooms, but the room that my movie was showing was super small and left me feeling disappointed. I'm excited to know they're remodeling and I look forward to seeing what improvements they make. I feel like the smaller rooms should be for classes, older films, private screenings, film festivals, etc... Either way I would come back, but I wouldn't want to watch a film in the screening room unless I'm af a film festival or something.

Caleb S.

Yelp
Saw Bottoms here & loved the theatre! Such a unique venue. Prices weren't anything special but I would rather pay to see films at non-chain locations like this

Nikola M.

Yelp
Beautiful theater !!! Popcorn was fresh and delicious. Staff was super nice. Saw Oppenheimer here. 70mm film is such a treat and the sound system is incredible!!!!!!! Definitely recommend

George J.

Yelp
This place is terrible. They had a problem with the theater but wouldn't even try to show film. No refunds given. Awful experience!

Graham P.

Yelp
This is an updated review because of the complete class in which a situation was handled tonight by the staff. We all bought tickets for home alone, but in a fluke the theatre had tech issues and had to switch to smaller space leaving many of us without a seat. They added a second viewing later in the night, and for anyone who couldn't make it we got a full refund plus a free ticket and popcorn to next showing. Others went to 930 and still got free things. Love this spot, great job

Emma B.

Yelp
An absolute gem. Excellent cult classic films and quirky midnight movies. If I ever leave Boston I think I will miss this the most. Sign up for the email list there is always something good coming up.

Livv W.

Yelp
this theater is precious to me. it gives me the feeling i want to have when i go see a movie. the theater itself sets the tone for the film youre about to see. staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they have a bar!!!

Regina M.

Yelp
I have an enduring love for older movie theaters. Palaces, really, places built for a time when going to see a movie was an event. There were thousands and thousands built when film was emerging as a storytelling medium. Lion and I were in Boston for a long weekend, volunteering for a nearby Overnight Walk to raise funds supporting suicide prevention research and education. We had some time before our check in and saw that the Coolidge Corner Theater was a few blocks walk away from the Air BnB we rented. it was a lovely morning so we set off to check it out. The theater is located among a small shopping area with restaurants and stores. It's in a very walkable area, and there's also street and lot parking available. To go in is a little unusual, they've rented part of the space of the original theater to a pizza shop, so you go around the side to the box office. We didn't have enough time to see a film, however they were very cool people who allowed us to wander around and check out the spectacular restorations that they've done - as long as there was no active movie showing. Explore we did, and it was a real treat. I especially appreciated the consistency of the restoration, they really worked to preserve and improve/add in keeping with the style of the historical period. I snagged a fun shirt for the NMT at their concessions before heading out, we needed to get back so we could get to our event. I was a bit sad to go. Highly recommend.

Ali T.

Yelp
I mean how cute is this movie theater!? The owners preserved this place well. It was clean (restrooms were too) and staff were very friendly. The box office was outside and even that was adorable. There was a good selection of movies ranging from old films to new movies currently out. Once inside, the area where you buy snacks was a bit cramped, but beautifully decorated. I felt like I was transported back in time. The theater itself was pretty big. The only downside were the seats. I thought they were a bit snug. The sides of the seat touched my sides and I'm a size 4 in pants. Maybe the armrests could've moved up? I'm not sure because I didn't try to, but if that were the case, then I would've been more comfortable. Everything else was great though.

A R.

Yelp
Has always been my go to theater for the movies. Nothing beats the vibe watching a movie you always wanted to see in a grand old fashioned theater. The film selection has always been great and plays cool criterion films late night on The Weekends. The ticket prices got noticeably higher, a few years ago it was 11-12$, now it's 16$. The seats in movie house 2 are extremely uncomfortable, feels like those old wooden fenway park chairs. Besides that it's an excellent place to catch a 70mm film and buy a local bar on tap. Hopefully the increased ticket price speeds up the renovations that are being built in the back of the building.

Hayley C.

Yelp
really nice showing list with special panels, new releases, and classics. food nd bev are a bit pricey but feels good spending nontheless since this place is so cool

Alexis B.

Yelp
I was exploring Boston for a long weekend and staying just a block or so away at an Airbnb in Brookline. When my feet were just about to fall off from walking around Boston so much, I stopped for a movie at Coolidge Corner Theatre (per my usual traveling ways). Coolidge Corner Theatre reminded me of theaters I used to frequent as a student in NYC (the Film Forum came to mind): classic old-school theater, indie films. I was in what I think is the largest theater for a screening of Amazing Grace (the documentary about the gospel album she recorded live in LA). It was beautiful, had comfortable seats, and pretty good auditorium elevation for an older theater (something that's important me as a very short person)! All in all, it was a great visit. If I lived in Boston, I'd be a regular.

Chloe V.

Yelp
Not the nicest but the most authentic. The reps are very close to one another and the popcorn is very basic

Claire S.

Yelp
Poor offerings and poor service. No good soundproofing between theaters, so a lot of sounds bleed over.

Ria O.

Yelp
I realized last night (ironically, after walking out of a crappy movie shown there), the Coolidge Corner has deserved a rave review from me for a while. good things: * wonderful old-style main theatre. * films starting on time and without an interminable prelude of trailer after trailer, let alone ads for cars, etc. * special programs like midnight movies and so on. * not once at any screening I have attended has any audience member had their mobile device visibly on. not-so-good things: * tiny theatres with small screens, apart from the main one. * they don't host the Boston Underground Film Fest, or at least they haven't so far. with the pluses and minuses accounted for, I consider this by far the best movie theatre in Boston right now, as I just realized.

Olivia W.

Yelp
This theater is a little funky, but once you get past that it's just like any other movie-going experience. The box office is outside and due to the size of most of the theaters you are only allowed to be seated 10 minutes before showtime. This complicates some things in the winter, but the immediate area is full of restaurants and shops so stopping by to get tickets, then leaving to grab dinner and coming back after is a workable plan. Once inside, the lobby is a little on the worn side, but large enough to accommodate the controlled crowds of the 10 minute rule. The theaters themselves vary in every way: seat style, size of theater, décor, number and arrangement of seats. But admittedly that is part of the charm of The Coolidge Corner Theatre. I've only seen a few movies there, but each one has been in a different theater and therefore makes for a different and memorable experience every time. Overall, I will continue to visit, it's a cute theater in a good location...the only downside? They don't accept moviepass.

Christine C.

Yelp
I like the theater. I really do. I even think it is worth rge extra money for the resoration fee. Tacked onto the already pricey ticket for small screen old theater etc... But I can't get past the rudeness of the staff. Tonight. 7/16. We went and shirt girl, with short haircut and glasses could barely stop looking at ger phone to take our order or answer a simple question. They seem to hire a lot of young, weird outcasts that think they are "cool"... Too cool to. Do badoc customer service.....NOT COOL.,,...and looking at your phone is a No. In ANY job.,,esp. With a line of oeopke trying to get in....weird nerdy girl....go back home and live with Mom and Dad...nobody else likes yiur attitude.

Kerry N.

Yelp
The main theater is gorgeous--restored Art Deco detail and huge screen. The small screening room is pretty uncomfortable and some of the seats actually have obstructed views. I've seen people look at the available sears and turn around and walk out. So check which theater your film is being shown in when purchasing tickets. Snack bar has good popcorn and is a good price! Lots of fun late movies on the weekends.

Gretchen B.

Yelp
Here's another of the Boston-area's small, non-profit theaters which has excellent programming from movies, to book signings to special events. You can become a member to help support the theater. I love coming here.

Rebekah A.

Yelp
Always a nice way to cap off an evening in Coolidge Corner-- stroll around Brookline Booksmith before your show and get some expensive ice cream at JP Licks afterwards. Some of the theaters are quite small, and you can get awkwardly seated in a corner or separated from friends or, even worse, seated behind a tall person (gasp!) if you aren't proactive about grabbing seats as soon as it's 10 min before the show. Recommend buying tickets online (although there's an extra fee) if you plan on going with a group or in the evening. Cute theater- not amazingly beautiful- but has charm.

Restaurant M.

Yelp
Pros: -Classic arthouse cinema with sweet marque -Monthly 70mm screenings of classic films -70mm screenings of contemporary films -Midnight showing of random flicks on Saturday nights -Hosts an open screening night where local filmmakers can show their work -Awesome cream soda and snacks -Ideal location in a bustling neighborhood with cool book stores and restaurants -A stones throw away from public transporation Cons: -Uncomfortable seats (worst than your average multiplex) -As with most arthouse theaters, its main rotation of 3 to 4 films screens once or twice a day

Beth C.

Yelp
Amazing architecture with an interesting lineup of films. Haven't been here in quite a while. Went to see The Phantom Thread and sat in the tiniest room ever. But that part was ok. The staff, though.... What's up with these people? I don't know what the workplace dynamics are like, or if they are volunteers of some sort? The woman who took my ticket told me the film was in "The Gold Room", and when I asked for clarification later as to where to go, she was kind of mean about it. Later, after we'd all packed into the very tiny theater room, there turned out to be two more people than seats. Another staff member showed up and demanded to see everyone's ticket, which many of us had put away. "If you don't have your ticket, just leave now," the guy said. What?? Fortunately, as I was still rummaging through my bag for the ticket stub, the two people who had showed up for the wrong day (by accident) were identified. So, nice theater, bizarrely hostile staff. They don't seem to be hurting for business, so I guess most people don't mind, but I'll probably check out Kendall Square as an alternative.

Jenn S.

Yelp
Still one of my all time favorite theaters. It really feel unique and historic and I love supporting them whenever I can. They have a good selection of movies from Indie to older films and new blockbusters. I must say their popcorn is something I DREAM about! Freshly popped and REAL melted butter. Serving beer and wine is also a plus! The screening rooms from big to small all have their own personality - I have watched a movie in all of them! If you have not been before I highly suggest you go.

Matthew W.

Yelp
I would comment on my experience watching a movie, however I never even got a chance to see a film here because within five minutes of entering the theater the manager on duty took it upon himself to deny me a drink and humiliate my girlfriend and I in the most appalling and reprehensible fashion. I've heard how abrasive, curt, dismissive and rude the staff can be but I was willing to put that aside because I had never seen a movie here and Creepshow was playing. I got into the drink line and inquired with the person serving drinks about the Rojo cider and if he has tried it and what are his thoughts etc and rudely replies " it's a cider" He then asks to see my ID. I hand him my ID and he looks at it then as opposed to handing it back to me slams it down on the counter in a puddle of either beer or water in the most rude and abrasive fashion. Super hostile I told him he didn't need to do that and there's no reason to slam my card down on the counter in such a dismissive fashion and as opposed to saying "sorry man I didn't mean to do that " and act like an adult he turns into a giant man baby and because he'a the manager, he tells me "he's done and I don't get a drink " No apology No attempt to reason He used his manager position in a power trip to project his own nasty and abrasive attitude on to me because he said and I quote verbatim "it's a late and I don't need your attitude" ? ...Whatever guy. There was no need for this manager to take things to a personal level and dismiss me. It's not a pub it's a cinema. The entire experience was lousy. This guy has no place in customer service and I'm absolutely never coming back to this establishment. I emailed the owner so hopefully if he cares about customers he'll rectify this.

Thida P.

Yelp
We came here for Horror Movie Marathon which was from 11:59 - 12:00. I only lasted through two movies. I like this theatre. It reminds me of back in the day when I was young and carefree, skipping school to go see a movie. I like that they serve beer.. a big plus! There's a parking lot in the back so you don't have to look for street parking. Obviously you won't find reclining seats here but the seats are comfortable. Restrooms are located downstairs, but there were only three stalls in the women's room. Not sure if there were more restrooms elsewhere in the building. I will definitely return.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Amazing old theater--I've mostly been to the big main theater downstairs and it's beautiful. Any interaction that I've had with the staff (limited) has been pleasant. Great selection of movies if you're into non mainstream ones, or seeing classics on the big screen. Johnny Cupcakes Presents is doing shows once a month until December!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I went to a special event here with saxophonist Grace Kelly (of Stay Human/ Late Show with Colbert show fame). Grace spoke on a panel with the director, and then performed with a bassist immediately after the movie. I enjoyed her performance very much. The movie was called "Sound of Redemption" and was a veritable Who's Who of heroin addicts. It explored the seedy underbelly of jazz; more specifically, the highs and lows of career addict/bank robber/musician Frank Morgan (prison jazz at San Quentin was never better) Of course, the music in the movie was great. The acoustics at Coolidge Corner are legit! History never sounded better.

Madison P.

Yelp
So cool-- first time in Boston and I saw a movie late at night, funny presenter, nice seats, good quality movies, affordable prices, open late, shows classic movies. Requires vaccine cards/masks, friendly staff, nice environment and I would come again!

Austin J. A.

Yelp
Oh, I love this theater. It is gloriously old, beautifully renovated, with a breathtaking ceiling and a balcony and private boxes and a curtain. You can attend meetings upstairs, and many groups hire out the private rooms to do just that. There is an elevator and a set of stairs to the second floor, so it is accessible as far as spaces go.

Aimee G.

Yelp
Coolidge Corner Theater is one of my favorite venues; Kendall and CC air some of the best independent films locally. A review of the other theater rooms here would merit a strong four our five stars. This review focuses solely on the recent Gold Screen Theater renovation. When purchasing my tickets at the box office, I asked the attendant whether our afternoon film was showing in the fourteen seat theater with the faux luxury chairs. I made a quip about lazy boy chairs. He said yes emphatically. Arriving at the theater later that same day was a huge disappointment. The luxurious chairs had been replaced by twenty some director chairs. They were all crammed into the same small room. First of all, I explicitly asked the box office about the leather chairs. He could have been forthcoming at that point in time. I would have purchased tickets for another film (happily). All tickets sold at the Coolidge include a restoration fee for the art deco building and façade maintenance. This is a nominal charge that I (usually) pay willingly. Who wants to sit 2.5 hours in a lawn/director chair?

Nandanie S.

Yelp
Love this place. I've been here a few times, and it's always been great. The architecture is beautiful, the seats are comfy, and they show some really cool movies at this theatre, especially around Halloween!! Saw Hocus Pocus at midnight a few weeks ago, and it was so worth it. We stood in line out in the freezing cold for about 30 minutes, but like I said, worth it! We sat in the big room with the drapes and the lovely ceiling. It was quite cozy, the bathrooms were clean, they sell beer and wine, and customer service is fantastic. I had bought my tickets online to save time and picked them up at will call. Best idea. They were about $13 including a service charge. Not too terrible - on or about what I pay for a ticket at Loews or AMC or Regal. Will gladly return for another matinee or weekend movie night!

Megan S.

Yelp
Coolidge theatre belongs to a dying breed of truly good theatres around for the love of film. everything they do from following covid precautions, to their great film events, makes me want to give them all my money.

Junshi L.

Yelp
I love this movie theater. I've been here twice and it has viewings of both big Hollywood blockbusters as well as indie films. They also do showings of old movies, with their Friday night "after midnight" special, as well as kids movies, on Saturday mornings. They really have an eclectic collection of movies. Check out their website and you'll see what I mean.

Erin M.

Yelp
Major overhaul needed for floor staff. I've seen three movies this past month and each time have encountered a very unpleasant snooty worker. As a former employee to a different art house theatre I see no reason for a customer experience to include such demeanors from staff. Also as a nonprofit I certainly would think there would be an increase of memberships/sales if customer service was a notch higher.

Denise M.

Yelp
Loved this theatre. My first time here and I have to say I appreciate the old theatres that are unique and individualized. The movie we saw was 'ok' but that is not the review. I did not partake in refreshments but they seemed to have good food and they serve beer and wine. Do I need to say more?! Coolidge Corner Theatre is cool!!!!

Emily G.

Yelp
We stopped in to see 3 Billboards outside Ebbing MO. Loved it found a great new beer such a beautiful theatre what a jewel

Kevin D.

Yelp
If a movie is playing at multiple theaters around Boston, I will ALWAYS choose to come to Coolidge! An old-timey retro feel, really nice staff, and a local business! Ticket prices are also reasonable, and the theaters are kept reeeeally dark (so much so that I wish you well if you enter after the movie starts looking for a friend or a seat.)

Ted G.

Yelp
I watched "The Lobster" a month or so ago for a 10pm showing on the upstairs large theater room. There were only 5 other patrons there. I left my popcorn on the ground next to me. I saw a shadow move at the corner of eye a few times, which briefly distracted me. Then a few minutes later, a plastic, rustling sound in the row behind me. I flinched... Could it be... A bit later, I reached into my bucket of popcorn and felt something foreign brush against my hand. I jumped, knocking the bucket over, and saw it. The racing silhouette of a mouse outlined by the stair lights. This theater needs to fix their pest problem if they are going to charge this much for their viewing experience (i.e. popcorn, soda, ticket).

Damien S.

Yelp
I love who the Coolidge is and what they're about. Creative programming (the Science of Screen is a must-see), a balance of blockbusters with gumption and edgy independents, in a fantastic main theater that's maintained finer than the comb they give you before school pictures. The building oozes history and nuanced, through-the-decades personality. The staff is passionate about film, the organization and the opportunity to share their driving force with an often eager and equally enthusiastic audience. Discounts for senior and students, and membership to the non-profit nets at least one completely free event a month. The last one? A screening of the original Little Shop of Horrors with a pre-film discussion by Aaron Ellison, forest ecologist and expert on carnivorous plants. How fucking cool is that?

Lara W.

Yelp
Definitely as good as it gets. Independent theater with so many charming touches, you'll squeal! Comfy seats, good snack options, friendly staff, and the feeling that you're in a REAL movie theater. I love the location, with plenty of restaurants and cafes available within walking distance for before or after the flick. Did you know that you can see any movie for free during the day on Thursdays if you are unemployed and can show them proof? This just shows that they are a true community theater, providing entertainment that is available to everybody! And how cute is it that they have morning kids shows on weekends?! Oh, its very cute. I've been here twice and can't wait to go back!

Cherie C.

Yelp
What a great place! The theater itself is a beautiful art deco place. Nice seats, good sound. There aren't many seats (454 in the biggest room), so I can't imagine there are any bad seats. The smallest room holds just 17 people, I'm told. If you want an intimate theater experience, this is the place. The other moviegoers seemed like true film lovers and were pretty respectful. I look forward to going back again. The pre-show clips were so hilariously outdated (or deliberately 'retro') that they alone were worth the price of admission.

Kelly O.

Three words for you: Princess Bride Quote-a-thon. And four more: Christopher Guest Midnight Movie. And three more again: Moulin Rouge Sing-a-long. (OK, I didn't actually get to go to the third one because I was out of town, but for the past 2 years I've been hoping and praying to the gods that it would happen again, because it may just make my life complete). Aside from the killer special events, this theater is just fricken awesome, the epitome of cool, the standard to which one should hold all other megaplexes and duplexes and whatever-else-plexes to. I love going here with friends or by myself, for a regular movie or for a special event, during the day or at night... so yeah, basically any time. I wish they had more screens because I would love to see *all* my movies here... instead I am sometimes relegated to the "regular" theater in Fenway to get my fill of whatever stupid chick-flick or blockbuster I'm being dragged to. Ah well, you can't always get what you want...

Yelp
I love this theater so much. I use to attend their midnight showings when I lived in the city. I also have many fond memories of their all night Halloween movie marathons.

Yelp
I am a member of the Coolidge corner theatre and cannot say anything bad about this place. They play endless amounts of movies from all different genres and all different programs. I love their big screen classics on Mondays and their special one off events they have here (All three lord of the rings movies in a row with a Q&A from Viggo Mortensen is still the best movie experience my boyfriend and I ever had - thanks Coolidge!) My boyfriend and I come here about once a week and see almost every movie they have playing. They have boylans soda on tap and a great selection of beer as well. The Coolidge also lets you bring in outside food (full pizzas, burritos, whatever) which is always a plus. This place spares you the agony of going to big name places like AMC and cares deeply about everything they do and present and it shows! My boyfriend and I have half joked about never moving out of this area because we wouldn't have the Coolidge. If you love going to the movies I really suggest investing in a membership because it pays for itself and you help out a great non profit.
