"Coolidge Park is a charming seven-acre plot of green on the north shore of the Tennessee River—small enough to fully explore, but big enough that it rarely feels crowded. The restored Walnut Street pedestrian bridge connects the park with downtown’s main drag (where you’ll find the Hunter Museum of American Art and the massive Tennessee Aquarium) and at its western border, bisected by the John Ross Bridge, neighboring Renaissance Park adds 23 more acres to explore. The manicured, tree-shaded pathways are a popular destination for runners and walkers. And no matter your age, a ride on the park's antique carousel is worth the time. Local Chattanoogan and well-known woodcarver Bud Ellis had the carousel brought in from Atlanta." - Jennifer Bradley Franklin

Google
Great city park stretching along the north shore of the Tennessee River. Plenty to do for families. Picnics, bike riding, running, carousel, splash park. It also has a paved walkway extending under and past both Market Street Bridge and the pedestrian-only Walnut Street Bridge. Beautiful views of downtown waterfront. Lots of easy road parking and the parking is free on Sunday.

We went on New Year’s Eve and had a blast. The crowd was nice but not too big and the entertainment was great. The carousel was pretty cool as well. I had to pull the kids off

Visited Coolidge Park on a Saturday evening. The Tennessee river and the bridges look very beautiful during sunset. The park is well maintained and peaceful. Just relaxing and viewing the river makes you feel so calm. There is also a splash pad of kids which can be very entertaining. There are public washrooms but I would recommend to stay away from them.

Came back after 25 years. The park is all the same though the surroundings have changed a good deal. Definitely worth the visit. Parking does cost until 6pm.

Lynne Emmons

Google
Loved this fun park! The splash pad was awesome! There was even a group of my people ("flow" something??) doing tightrope walking and spinning things. Our kids loved watching them, and so did we! A nice vibe all the way around. Oh, and the carousel was awesome!!

Maggie Rocco

Google
Beautiful park on the TN river in Chattanooga. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking and the indoor carousel was a huge hit with the kiddos. Our favorite pit stop on the way from Athens to Nashville.

Martijn Haaijer

Google
Very nice and spacious park with a fountain. Especially when it hot this is a place To cool down. The park is under the walking bridge (Walnut street bridge). The park is clean and you see a lot of young children. There is a indoor merry-go-round but was not working when I was there

Google
One of my favorite places in Chattanooga. The Park is more than a green space it is a great place to read a book or go for a walk or rent a bike soooo many options.

Yelp
This is a park that's connected/flanking Renaissance Park that also has awesome views of the river and of Walnut Street bridge. You can walk along the river for quite a bit if you want to jog or walk around. There were plenty of people walking their dogs. There's also a carousel, but it wasn't open which made sense given I visited on a weekday during winter. It was pretty cute though! There's restaurants nearby so this park is great spot to head over to walk around after a meal.

Cody F.

Yelp
Community park with year- round events. Today is Moon River festival, strongly recommended by @AutumnL who is doubling as my sweet hostess today. Just look at that skyline and bridge! In the middle of a beautiful Southern City complete with the hospitality and diversity for which you'd hope.

Robert S.

Yelp
Came for 7 Bridges marathon. Great scenery and clean park. Park is along the river, but there are shops and restaurants bordering the park. The only issue I saw is the parking. You have to pay to park everywhere. Living in Phoenix and Atlanta we don't have to pay much, if at all, to park. Can't wait to go back for next year's race, though.

Christina A.

Yelp
Such a beautiful park! Plenty of public parking in many areas near the park. Clean public restrooms in the pavilion. Great views of the riverfront! The walnut street bridge is accessible from here and many people hang out in the green space playing games and running around. There is a carousel (indoors) and a great splash pad! My kiddos loved it. We saw a few food trucks nearby and there are many restaurants within walking distance and a really cool Chalkboard Alley!

Ashley S.

Yelp
Walked through here to go to the art festival. It was a cold day. The first thing I noticed was the adorable water fountain with animals (turned off in the winter) but looks like one you can play in during the summer. Cute! Very spacious, good event location.

Ann C.

Yelp
Fun place to hang out, watch people and get a lot of walking in. We've been coming to this area for years, and it's ever-changing, always businesses coming and going, and family or couples fun. One of my favorite places is Milk and Honey for breakfast, a snack or gelato.

Lisa P.

Yelp
This park is actually connected to Renaissance so you can easily walk from one to another. The views of the river are great and there is a lot of seating. The few times I've been there have been multiple soccer games going on so the park never seems to be empty. In addition to paid parking there are a few spots on the street where you can park for free.

Justin H.

Yelp
Coolidge Park is a beautiful outdoor space along the Tennessee River. They have a great carousel (with hand carved animals), giant splash pad for little kids, and miles of attractive walking trails. The trails go along the river and into some wooded areas. Adjacent to the park, there are many good restaurants, shops, coffee, etc. It'a also right next to a large pedestrian bridge that crosses the TN River. This is the type of park that you could easily spend several hours enjoying. Lots to see and do. Highly recommended.

Austin H.

Yelp
One of the best parks I have ever been to. It is so beautiful right on the Tennessee River. Plenty of green space that you can find a spot to sit or play without being crowded or near others. It has great spaces to walk and if you want to host an event some great pavilions and indoor facilties to rent. It is close to many unique shops and restaurants too. It's pretty easy to park even though you will have to pay.

Jamarcus T.

Yelp
Nice park! We accessed this park after crossing the Walnut Street bridge, and just people watched during our time here. Located literally below Walnut Street bridge, this park is part of the 13 mile greenway. We didn't walk the entire park, but what we did see was very nice. From the nearby welcome center, we made our way to the very child popular fountain. Beautiful fountain that was again humming with attention from the kids around. The park extends to the nearby river and along this lovely walk are several benches and access points to take your kayak to the water, as we saw several people doing. Because of time constraints, we stopped at a bench and people watched for about 10 more minutes before we headed back to the nearby Walnut Street Bridge. There are several events that happen here, most notably is the 7 bridges marathon that starts at Coolidge park in October, 2019. Coolidge park was really a place we stumbled upon from the nearby bridge and river walk. Time and temperature got the best of us though, so when we pay Chattanooga a visit again, we'll spend a bit more time exploring this park!

Maggie D.

Yelp
This is a nice park, and I especially like how there were lots of people there, even in the middle of the day on a week day. It made it more a more lively place to be. If you like people watching, this could be a good spot for you. If you walk around a bit you can find some fun things. There was this fake band setup made of metal, where you could play drums or hit some tubes to make music... though it doesn't make the prettiest music. There was a game kind of like hopscotch but in a swirly formation instead of a straight line. I also liked this world map made of stone, and it had a star at Chattanooga. The park has great views of the river and some cool looking bridges (I'm sure they are something specific but I'm not sure). It was peaceful but a fun place at the same time.

Ashly G.

Yelp
Beautiful. $1 per person to ride. Great fun for young children up through adults. You have to pay to park in the area but the park is large and kid and animal friendly. We visited in the winter time but it has fountains for playing in during the summer. There are several restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

Gary B.

Yelp
Great park with views of the Tennessee river, bridges, and downtown Chattanooga. Walking paths meander around the park through grass lawns and woods. There's even an indoor carousel and a weird rhinoceros sculpture. What's up with that? Check out the shops and restaurants on Frazier Ave which is adjacent to the park.

Lucy M.

Yelp
Coolidge Park is a lovely little park that has a lot of life despite its small size. I happened to be walking through around 5:30pm on prom night and all the local high schoolers were wearing the most gorgeous dresses and posing for pictures in the beautiful sunshine. I saw a plaque that read, "If Trees Could Sing", where apparently musicians tell you a bit about the types of trees planted there, but I couldn't get the QR code to scan. Really cool idea though! There's a carousel, river access for kayaking, and of course the bridge to walk across.

Kate B.

Yelp
Such a great park! Great spot to sit down and relax for a minute while you explore downtown. Parking was easy, though there was a minimal fee, but it is absolutely worth it. Super close to the pedestrian bridge too!

Tiff H.

Yelp
I was more than a little confused by the multiple "parks" within steps of each other. However, Coolidge Park is a fun little "park" right off of the Walnut Street Bridge. At night, there's not much to see. However, I enjoyed the different art pieces and displays. At night, the carousel stopped running, but we noticed it while strolling through the park. There are plenty of art pieces and views to take pictures of and take in along the way. Great park to stop at for a post-heavy meal walk. Another must see while in Chattanooga!

Shin M.

Yelp
Cool place to hang out, lots of people chilling there. Near the water, the bridges, and restaurants and shops!

Alexis B.

Yelp
Today was a hot one so it was perfect to bring the kiddos to play in the fountain at Coolidge Park! We also stopped and got an snow cone from Happys House!

Melissa S.

Yelp
Was a great place for my dog to play! He loved it and so did I! Could have been less dirt, but the dogs enjoy so ...well and it was muddy in some areas

Brandon P.

Yelp
This place has been a staple Chattanooga since I was a child! And we're talkin over 30 years now. I really like what they've done with the place kept it rather original with subtle updates here and there that makes sense to the community and the taxpayers of the city. I now get to enjoy countless moments of endless fun with my children now as I tell them about the days when I was once a boy. The only added feature I really love now is that there are a few restaurants in addition to ice cream that you could easily walk to if the belly gets the rumbling. Enjoy the Merry-Go-Round the bridge the amphitheatre the grass the river all of it. Take your time and be ready to enjoy a whole day at this park. There's also a science theater if you're into that in walking distance. Just be wary of the parking it is paid but very cheap?

Diane D.

Yelp
Nice area to walk ! You can walk the bridge only foot and bike traffic ! Great river walk , has a carousel and places to eat closes by . We rented rented a transit bike , free during the summer on a weds our kids loved that ! All round good afternoon .

Nancy A.

Yelp
This is my favorite place because it has my favorite water park and I'm a kid I love playing in the water I love playing in the water it is the best leave a good Yelp review this place is really fun

Justin D.

Yelp
Came here to visit from out of town. Wide open well kept spaces with fun things around. There are paths to walk and a splash play area for the kids (and of course parents too :). There is the bridge to walk nearby and the carousel, with very affordable rides (I think $1 each).

Alexis B.

Yelp
An alright city park just along the Tennessee River. It houses the carousel building, and has some walking paths and a view of the river (and the Riverfront neighborhood of Chattanooga just across the river). Not a beautiful park (especially in winter), but it's not bad for a quick walk after lunch if you want a view of the river.

David A.

Yelp
This park is beautiful. Right next to the Tennessee River. So clean and so beautiful. Right across the bridge from the Tennessee Aquarium. We brought our doggie here today and walked this park for 2 hours. Great way to watch the sunset.

Sara L.

Yelp
Such uniquely wonderful concerts happen in Coolidge Park! Sometimes they are widely publicized and sometimes they're only listed in an image post on Facebook. Last night I experienced Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Brandi Carlile, and Johnnyswim at the Moon River Festival. But 5 years ago I heard The Wood Brothers for free there. A few months ago The Dismembered Tennesseans performed at somebody's birthday party in the park. If you enjoy folk, bluegrass, or country, you'll end up at a show in Coolidge Park and you'll be so glad you did!

Jana C.

Yelp
So easy to hang out all day here... it's very very relaxing.. with expansive grass and an easy to access bike rental rack here. Too, all of the cool eats from Northshore are only a few hundred feet away... as well, walk the Walnut Street Bridge over to the south side of the river to stretch out the jaunt! It's a wonderful place, this area... families, couples, exercise fanatics... the particular day I was enjoying Coolidge, a church as having worship on the lawn there, and I was praising as I was walking! I've come to enjoy cities such as this... easy to hone in on the quality things of life.

Melissa B.

Yelp
I am a fan of this park on the Northside of Chattanooga...plenty of parking in the pay lot..only $1 for an hour $2 for four hours and $4 all day...great bargain and walking distance to the Park..to the Walnut Street Bridge, and to Frazier Street.... The park has plenty of playing area..great views of the river, great views of downtown Chattanooga, outside amphitheater area for bands, socccer or ballgames...a great fountain for little ones to enjoy, and a Carousel...a wonderful carousel from 1894... A must and its FREE!! ENJOY is all I can say...ENJOY!!! We did!!! and we will again....

Steven L.

Yelp
This is most beautiful park I have ever been to. Also, it's convenient to restaurants and tourists attractions. There are also bars and numerous stores close by. So, after you come here, there are other things you can do. For example, if you are here in the winter and you get cold, there is plenty of coffee shops nearby. If you are here in the summer, and you get hot, there are plenty of ice cream shops nearby. You can ride you bike down here too as well. Also, bring a ball or frisbee if you like. Most of all being a camera or video camera for memories.

Karen T.

Yelp
Great park located right by the Walnut Street Bridge. There is a water fountain for kids to play and an antique carousel that is $1 per ride. There is a parking lot near the park and there are facilities for people to change into and out of bathing suits. The park is also located fairly close to a small strip of cute little shops and dining areas (i.e. Good Dog, Clumpie's ice cream). There is also a convenience store (Walgreens) down the block for stamps, toiletries, etc. Parking info: http://www.chattanoogaparking.org/FINDPARKING/LOCATIONSANDRATES.aspx

Lizette C.

Yelp
Also a historic part of Chattanooga and a must on every tourist's list of sites. Carousel is located in the park at $1 per ride. And it's indoors and air conditioned. Adjacent to the Walnut Street Bridge. Actually part of it is below the bridge. The entrance is adjacent though. Clumpies and Good Dog, along with a few other boutiques are literally right behind the park. Perfect treats after a park visit. Very big park with a great view. Across the river from the Tennessee Aquarium. Has a fountain which was great for all the kids to run around in while it was hot. If you're from Atl, similar to Centennial Park fountain. Plenty of space to walk, sit, run or play. I think they even have hammocks out there. I didn't explore too much, as it was about 100 degrees or very close. And the heat was exhausting. Plus we had a short visit and had to squeeze so many activities into so little time.

André R.

Yelp
This riverfront park is a great place to chill and unwind. There's plenty of benches and places to sit along the river, along with a walking trail with lots of trees and flowers. There's a nice fountain and a carousel too. It's good for families or just some quiet time. Also nearby are plenty of restaurants to fill up once you're done.

Susanne B.

Yelp
Well maintained, clean riverside park with sweeping lawns. Felt very safe with many families fishing or playing on the green. The carousel is closed and the water fountains are turned off for the time being. I understand, but it's still disappointing. A fountain would have made our visit on an extremely hot day perfect. There are a few ice cream food trucks parked by the entrance which was a nice touch.

Kristopher W.

Yelp
I got the opportunity to capture some stunning photos at this park! Love the area so much and the bridges are sooooooo amazing! Gonna get a night shoot there soon!

Jonna Leanne P.

Yelp
this park is great, only downfall is that you can't take your dog! :( they are nice about it but do make sure you leave to take your dog out. They have events here and lots of space to bring a blanket and read, do yoga, throw a frisbee, etc. If you can dream it, you can do it (but without your dog) I've played frisbee here numerous times! I've also used this location for Pokémon go - and bike riding - there is a local bar close by that gives you $1 off your drink if you ride your bike there. Overall, if you have a chance to visit this side of Chattanooga and relax, do it! It's a Site to see!

Donna V.

Yelp
We had a very lovely Saturday out here. Lots of really cute shops here next to the park as well. Can't beat a 1.00 ride on an indoor carousel either. I was a little frustrated to see all the dogs there as this out of towner read the rules on the site as well as the rules posted throughout the park that says No Dogs. The kids would have loved to bring our dog there with us too. But at least the dog owners cleaned up after the animals. Very pretty and enjoyable day outing.

Vernon C.

Yelp
Nice park for the kids to run around and get wet if they choose. There is a fountain that all the children were playing in and having a good time. We went in the evening and the breeze was phenomenal

Aileen C.

Yelp
Truly a beautiful park for all!! There's a carousel & water park for the kids to enjoy. Plenty of areas to walk & play or have a picnic. Nearby places to eat and have a snack. We will come back earn we are in town again..

Melanie M.

Yelp
Great family environment and easy to relax with the best views. Picnic? Frisbee? Football? This is your place!

Nancy D.

Yelp
Great spot for the family. Only problem is when your family from Germany visits and sees the sister tree from Germany is the only one cut down ahaha please replace that

Shannon W.

Yelp
Beautiful park. Well maintained. Great place to cool off on a hot summer day. My little guy (7) says the impressive carousel was still for babies, but I thought it was beautiful! We walked over Walnut Bridge. Had to stop twice for his little legs to rest but it was well worth the trip!

Travis C.

Yelp
Coolidge Park is a great area to come with the family and play. We are here today for the 17th annual grateful gobbler Thanksgiving day walk. There are restaurants surrounding the park and there is a carousel located inside the park. The park is not dog friendly

Lou G.

Yelp
This was the perfect place to visit with a blanket after having a huge breakfast at Aretha Frankenstein's, and after having a wonderfully memorable nap on the lawn here, I can't help but be a fan! The park is clean and well kept. Perfect for lounging, people watching, or a nice walk along the river, as well as to slip off into a pancake induced coma.

Meghan M.

Yelp
Great park, directly on the river! While on the road to the Smoky Mountains, we stopped here to eat a picnic lunch and let our kids play. They LOVED the splash pad and could have spent the entire afternoon playing in it.

Kent K.

Yelp
I am such a HUGE fan of this park! The City of Chattanooga has set the bar very high for perfectly maintained, user friendly, clean, comfortable, beautiful city parks. Grab a snack at one of the many eateries that border the park on Frazier Street and sit in the park and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. That's what its all about...

Leanda C.

Yelp
This is an awesome way to kill some time. Not action packed but if you have some time to kill or just want to enjoy the outdoors this is the place. The little fountain you can wade in to cool off is too tempting not to put your feet in. The dollar carousel is adorable with no line. I saw a medieval fight club practicing complete with foam swords and shields . Bring some crackers cause the tiny birds and pigeons are entertaining. It looked like there were some quaint little shops and pubs lining the street but I ran out of time. Parking is right next to everything and I think was about $1/hr.

Cory B.

Yelp
Awesome place to get dinner or go pass the football or kick the soccer ball around.Laid back and the scenery is beautiful! Theres even a carousel if you have kids that is indoor/outdoor depending on the temperature outside. Its located right by downtown Chattanooga so you can also walk to the Aquarium or the Imax 3D theatre.

Dirk P.

Yelp
I give this place 4 stars. It's a great place to hang out during the day. Minus that one last star because it's not so safe at night. Don't hang out there at night. When you visit look for the Shaved ice truck, ask for Spaghetti Flavored Ice.

Alys G.

Yelp
I loved the fountains, perfect for a hot summer day. Lots of families out playing w their children, nice views and there is a food truck that sells snow cones parked there. If u like parks this one is very nice

Kelly G.

Yelp
A beautiful park along the Tennessee River. It has a restored carousel, an interactive water feature for the kiddos, and lots of space for biking, launching kayaks, running, or plain old park-enjoying. You can access the Walnut Street Bridge just outside the park and enjoy gorgeous views of the area. I happened upon the Skyhoundz World Championship disc competition when I was there, which was pretty darn cool itself. There are little shops and an art gallery nearby. It was my first time in Chattanooga and I was impressed with everything!
