10 Best Hotels and Resorts in the British Virgin Islands - AFAR

"A family-owned ecoresort that prioritizes self-sufficiency and sustainability, producing about 85% of its electricity via photovoltaic panels, heating water with solar, and running a solar-powered desalination plant for drinking water. The property avoids air-conditioning, plastic straws, and canned beers (favoring draft beers from its microbrewery), uses ecofriendly cleaning products, and sources organic vegetables, goat, and seafood from local producers while growing a wide variety of produce on-site. Guests can expect beachfront rooms with private balconies, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding opportunities, and a bar boasting one of the largest rum selections in the Virgin Islands." - Lori A. Our first stay for 8 days Dec 2025. Resort restaurant and bar were conviently located with great view of water and boats anchored in Bay. We ate all our meals there and tried almost everything on menu. Each meal was truly amazing and tasted great. Even more impressive was thfe staff customer service. We have travelled to all 7 continents and many countries and found the quality and taste of food to stand out as one of the best we have experienced. Only other place this good was on Matangi Island Resort in Fiji Islands. We were served over our stay by Philippine and Vergin Island staff, who were all friendly, helpful, communicative, professional, timely in service, checked on us for any needs, made good recommendations, great sense of humor and carried on interesting conversations. The help were happy and loved their work at this resort. Three Caribbean staff we want to specifically commend are Beyonce and Keshea, servers, and grounds botanist, Jeffrey, who was always available to guests to provide fresh coconut milk and cocoanut meat for guests. This nicety and customer care were particularly important and special to me as I served as Peace Corps Volunteer on Pacific Island atoll, where I had access to such coconut delights.

This was our fifth visit to CIBC, and unfortunately an unpleasant experience. The restaurant was completely booked, and seemed to be understaffed for the number of guests they had. A first round of drinks arrived fairly quickly, but once we placed our dinner order we were left sitting at the table for almost 40 minutes before our meals arrived. As we started eating we quickly realized all of the main courses were cold. I don’t mean not piping hot-I’m talking they were at room temperature. We would have mentioned it to our server, but she never came back to check on us or see if we wanted more drinks, which by then were long gone. With no other option at that point, we ate our cold dinners. Badly disappointed, I approached the hostess, who was dealing with another unhappy customer. When it was my turn, I told her about our cold dinners. She asked what table we were at and I showed her. While I waited at her desk, she informed the manager of our complaint. The manager went to our table, and asked my wife what the problem was. My wife informed her that all our meals arrived cold. She replied “that’s impossible “ and walked away. The hostess wound up deleting the $40 service charge from our bill, but we still paid $250 for bad service, cold pork and steak, and congealed sauce. Bottom line is CIBC is no longer the great place it used to be. Do yourselves a favor and spend an extra day at Norman Island instead.

We had dinner here on Thanksgiving and it was the best meal I have had in years. We were with 4 adults and 4 children and everyone loved their food. We tried all of the Thanksgiving specials and many regular menu items as well. Truly amazing food. It was an awesome experience!

We had lunch and dinner here the same day becasue it was so good. The drinks were well crafted. A lot of veggie options. I had a difficult time choosing only one entree!! We were a group of six and we were well taken care of at both meals.

I have stayed at Cooper at least 6 times over the years. It is an absolutely magical place to stay. The food is wonderful, the staff outstanding, and the accommodations are glorious. I have never had a bad stay, and all of the people I know, who have ever been there over the years, have loved it. Every trip. There appear to be a number of negative reviews that were posted about 4 months ago; no doubt, all from the same party. I have seen obnoxious behavior from some of those “sailing around the BVI” during my stays at Cooper. It sounds like they expected to inconvenience other guests ( who actually had reservations, and showed up for them on time) and generally be a nuisance for everyone. I am American, and sometimes I am so embarrassed by those obnoxious Americans who feel entitled, and have bad manners. My apologies to the management and staff of this great resort. Oh, and I happened to see these bad reviews making reservations at Cooper for my family. I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

We shared a day here with Antilles Power boats, Captain Phil and Rosie brought us over from Tortola. What a great place to stay. The beach is tremendous and loved the Caribbean atmosphere. The snack bar was open and we had coffee and sweets. If you come the docs are smaller but easily dock upto another boat. There was hardly any wake at all. Love this place.

Best sunset views for our fabulous dinner. Compliments to the Cooper Island Chef for elevated options in a relaxed setting. The freshly baked breads were a big hit, as were varied dinner seafood entries. Our friend loved her vegetarian eggplant entree. Akeema, our fabulous server, made the dining experience extra special. We enjoyed the chill BVI vibe. (And let's not forget to mention the after dinner Rum Bar and morning Coffee Shop!)

With a certain amount of trepidation of what 4 days on an island would be like with one restaurant and two bars, we could not have been more pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by the sheer enjoyment of this Resort. There were so many stand outs, but lets begin with the food.... absolutely outstanding. The Chef hails from South Africa originally and he has made a varied and an international menu created with many local influences, yet displaying a flair for both basics and the unusual. The chef is complemented by a serving staff who clearly feel appreciated and have some autonomy in their posts. The Rum Bar team were very knowledgable and every morning coffee came with a genuine smile from the cafe. We were primarily on the island to dive with the Sail Caribbean Divers, who were exceptionally experienced and flawlessly organized in their dives. We did not need to venture far snorkeling as we found the island surrounded by turtles and most fish species. Even the swimming was easy and safe in this sheltered bay. The rooms were spotlessly cleaned and felt new and fresh. Whilst there are about 30+ buoys teaming with catamarans and their passengers visiting the bars, restaurant and beach every day, when you are a guest at the resort, the private beach and assured tables every meal time make you feel that you are sharing the island with just a few others. We can't wait to go back and intend to stay longer next time.
