Went here for lunch on a Sunday. Great atmosphere. I’m typically skeptical of pizza in the DC/ Virginia area but this was delicious! Family ordered Zepps and turkey club. Pepperoni on the Zepp was incredible and the turkey club was gigantic! Garlic knots and meatballs for apps. Generous portions for both. Desserts were just as fabulous. I would definitely recommend Cooper Mill

Cooper Mills in Old Town Alexandria is a fantastic spot for authentic New York-style pizza. We tried both the standard and Sicilian styles, and both were excellent, the toppings were flavorful and well-blended, making for a really high-quality pizza. ​What really sets this place apart for groups or families is the upstairs reserved area. It offers plenty of space for kids to enjoy themselves while the adults can relax and hang out. The balcony also provides some nice scenery, which adds to the great ambiance. ​Throughout our visit, the wait staff was very tentative and responsive. ​The only minor suggestion for improvement would be the water quality; it had a distinct taste that could likely be improved with a reverse osmosis filtration system. This was a small point in an otherwise outstanding visit. We will definitely be back.

Food is unremarkable and poor quality, creative pizza toppings but unauthentic and average pizza. They use canola oil spray on the pizza pans, unfortunate. Staff are pleasant but servers and bartenders are inattentive and lack professionalism and polish. Could be better, perhaps under new management or ownership…. New restaurant already quite dirty, no commitment to excellence at any level here.

Amazing waterfront location with very fun but also clean bar food. Cocktails were strong and yummy and food was delicious. Large portions. Service great. We can’t wait to keep going. Also has happy hour and indoor and outdoor seating.

Amazing! Loved the food. The chef came and talked to me about their sauce, which is delish! Our waitress,Sharise(?) was awesome! She was attentive, knowledgeable and just plain nice! Good on ya girly!!

We showed up early on a Friday without a reservation and we were lucky to get a table. The upscale warehouse vibe was really nice. We ate downstairs but I did take a walk around upstairs, the vibe up there was fresh and trendy. Creative menu options and cocktails were tasty and generous. I highly recommend their garlic knots, Hot Honey pizza and the Meatball Zepp. For desert we enjoyed the brownie blast which was to die for! The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive. Highly recommended!

From the decor to the food, everything was fantastic! I had the meatball app and then a roasted corn salad and both were fantastic! The servers were on top of it and I couldn't have asked for better. Prices are very in line with the quality. Ask about the building - the owners did a fascinating job restoring the structure and were able to keep many of the old elements to create a unique experience! All the brick and wood was cleaned and reclaimed! Check out the original trusses upstairs and the beautiful concrete floor downstairs. Great job guys!

We thoroughly enjoyed the garlic knots, stuffed mushrooms and the friendly service. We did not try the pizza but it smelled and looked delicious. We heard lots of people raving about it!

The new space is stunning. Food was pretty good- garlic knots were a favorite. Only 3 stars mainly because it's not very comfortable. The area for people waiting for tables is awkward and you're constantly in the way of the servers. The upstairs bar was open for waiting but there were no spaces to sit. Big open space with limited seating. There were several large open tables marked reserved, but we never saw a party seated. We had been told reservations were not possible when we called. The host/mgr called us to say table was almost ready so we gave up the ottoman space we found to sit on upstairs and made our way to be seated. We had to still wait for ten minutes at the base of stairs and were presented with a high top cocktail table to accommodate our party of five. We were told that was only option. Trying to eat at such a small table was a challenge and we definitely ordered less than we would have because of limited space. Finally the place was loud. It was a Saturday night with a redskins game on but it was very loud. Music played over an already loud room making it very difficult to talk. I'd go back but for lunch during the week and probably not with a large group again. Space is tight and not really set up for large groups downstairs.

My social group went to Cooper Mill last night for HH. The restaurant had reserved space for us upstairs. Very spacious, with pretty holiday lights, comfy sofas and seating. My margarita was very good. I ordered the Greek salad, which was a good portion and tasty. Service was excellent. The only thing I would ask is for gluten-free pizza or more GF options in general, most places have that these days.

Cooper Mill was exactly what we needed on a freezing cold night. The warm, cozy vibe made it the perfect spot to escape the chill. It just felt inviting from the moment we walked in. The food was incredible. We kicked things off with the cheesy garlic bread, which came out perfectly crisp on the edges but soft and gooey in the middle, with just the right amount of garlic and cheese. It was pure comfort food. Then we shared the hot honey pizza pie, and wow. They say it serves four, but the two of us almost finished it ourselves (even after devouring the garlic bread). I also had an Old Fashioned, and it was spot on--smooth and well-balanced, just the way I like it. On top of everything, the staff was so friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Can't wait to come back soon, there's so much more on the menu I want to try!

Being a NJ native I was excited to try a new Pizza by the slice shop. But Pizza by the slice here is just a slice of one their normal sized pizzas. You'd expect it to compare to other slice shops in portion if you charge $6-$8 per slice but that's not the case. I ordered the hot honey (not hot), the special, and roman (was barely warm) slices. The ambiance was stunning and service was great, but the taste and value just missed. I recommend the operators here check out Wise Guys or We The Pizza for reference. TLDR: Pizza is overpriced. Get the pepperoncini Dip.

I've been watching the build of Cooper Mill for some time, and I've been super excited to finally dine here. The restaurant and bar were packed, first come, first serve. The Old Fashioned was great! The ambiance as a whole is perfect. Great dim lighting in the evening, and the volume isn't too loud. The bathrooms are clean. The pepperoncini dip was incredible! Honestly, I want to meet the person who invented that. The garlic knots were great as well! I wasn't impressed with the eggplant parm, but it wasn't the worst. The Greek salad we received was also great. Although, we ordered the Italian. I do wish they had more options, food-wise, but I would definitely come back! No complaints. Update: I dined here again and ordered the Italian, again. Only to be presented with a salad that was missing several main ingredients. No olives, pepperoni, salami, soppressata,red onion ,or mozz. So essentially, I had lettuce and tomatoes. When I complained, I was told "that is the chopped Italian. After explaining that it was missing ALL of the ingredients, olives and pepperoni were then brought over to me in little cups. More of a, "make your own salad" at this point. I felt like this wasn't handled in the best way, honestly. However, eventually, this was taken off of our bill.

New restaurant located in Alexandria. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Arrived around 3:30 on a Friday and there was a decent crowd. They currently offer a seat yourself option but I wonder if that will change. I ordered the meatball zep and the chopped Italian salad. The salad was amazingly delicious. I ordered a single portion. The meatball zep was huge. The bread for the zep is made in house. Think sandwich made on pizza bread. Amazing experience and the staff was great. Definitely a place you should visit.

Dropped in for Happy Hour before heading to our next stop. The place was filling up fast around 5 PM, but we got a table quickly. We started with drinks, non-alcoholic beer for my wife and a $2 Off the Rails (whiskey + Coke) for me. From the Happy Hour menu, we tried the 1/2 Zepp (a pizza sandwich) and the pizza slice of the day, both solid choices. The staff was friendly, attentive, and got us our check quickly since we were on a schedule. Great atmosphere, good music, and a welcoming bar. We'll definitely be back!

Popped in for HH and the pepperocini dip was DELICIOUS. We also ordered the zapps, 2 slices, and the elotes. The elotes was way more than I expected, with two flatbread-like tacos filled with the corn. But everything was great. We all split the peanut butter explosion, which was a great ending to the night.

We have been so excited for this to finally open and visited last night... it did not disappoint in the least, in fact, I think we've found one of our new favorite local spots! There were some reviews about the pizza having burnt edges and overpriced. That is 100% not true. 1 - you can choose the crust you would like (Sicilian or regular) so it's really on you. We tried both and really liked both. 2 - price is extremely fair for this area. If you want to try a bunch and not commit to a whole pie do the $6 slice to try them all! Delicious!! We went for happy hour and I had a Amalfi Spritz and a great montepulciano wine. We also tried the dip, half Antipasto Zepp (pizza sandwich) and the garlic knot meatball sliders. In my eyes the sliders were the winner! Everything was good but those were craveable! The flavors were perfect, the meat blend was on point, the sauce was perfect, and the garlic shined! We topped it all off with lemon mascarpone cake! I could see coming here in the summer and enjoying the spritz, and pasta salad, and the lemon mascarpone cake! Truly though, this is all seasons bar and restaurant! The architecture makes us the perfect lodge environment but in the summer the spring and outdoor space on the roof is gonna be clutch. Thank you Team for having us! We're happy to have you in the neighborhood!

Cooper Mill is a former mill site, that encompasses a market, a tavern, and an event venue space, all in one; the building is described as being one of OT's last waterfront warehouses. They're currently in their soft opening stage, offering a breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to a beverage menu. We stopped by for an early dinner, and we tried some of their pizzas, which we thought were just aight. It was a bit overcooked, making the crust slightly burnt and a bit chewy. Cooper Mill is actually part of the Landini restaurant group, which explained why we were disappointed with the service and the food. There are two floors, and we were seated in the main area. Still in soft opening, but seems like it's going to be a solid addition to the area! Enjoyed the Zepps, which are basically sandwiches made from pizza dough. The PeppZepp amounted to an open-faced pepperoni calzone, which sounds like a pizza, but the dough for the Zepps is thicker than just folding a slice of pizza. Not sure how to describe it really, just go and try one! Garlic Knots were super garlickly, in the good way (real garlic not powdered) and the sauce had just a touch of zip to it. The surprising standout was the Spicy Roasted Corn Salad; normally those are mostly greens with a little bit of corn, at Cooper Mill it was basically all corn, with the other ingredients bringing flavor but not distracting from the corn. Definitely one we'll get again! Service was good, friendly and quick enough (but not rushed), although in any soft opening YMMV. First floor was all that was open when we were there, but we looked upstairs at the bar and lounge there, and holy smokes is it beautiful! Similar in some ways to the upstairs at Virtue, but felt brighter.

We were visiting the area and decided to stop in for lunch. Great spot, great atmosphere. Service was great. Good was delicious. We had a pepperoni and cheese pizza. A chopped Italian salad as well as a meatball zepp. Food was delicious very tasty. Price was in line as where it should be. So glad we stumbled upon this spot. Would definitely go back if in the area. Great vibe in there. Give it a try.

Showed up at 6 and put in for a table of 6. We were told it would be 15-20 min. After 35 min, we asked for an update. They said they only had one table for 6 and people were still eating (and had full cocktails). The table was at the front so I could see when we arrived that they were just getting settled. They need to work on their wait model and the staff needs to be a bit friendlier when greeting guests. It's a beautiful space, but with service like this, it's going to be relegated to tourists.

A good spot to sit at the bar and enjoy a game. Great happy hour menu/pricing. Tables are a bit close together though. Ordered a half zepp and it was quite delicious and a good portion for one person.

Stopped by for Happy Hour and had a fairly decent experience. It was 4 o'clock and we sat at the bar and were handed a menu. Note - I had to specifically ask for the happy hour menu. I was delighted to see so many offerings, so I ordered the Cowabunga. Tasty. Then I ordered another rum beverage that was offered on the Happy Hour menu, paired with a pepperoncini dip. Delicious. I was visibly happy and grinning. Then came the bill. While I do enjoy a good happy hour stint with my buddies, I'm not a fan of drinks on the "Happy Hour" menu costing $16 a piece. Nothing happy about that. Granted, my own mistake for not looking a bit closer at the Happy Hour menu, but I certainly wouldn't expect $16 for a drink. That's prime-time prices, brother! Not too bad, but I'd gather that the establishment could afford to reduce the beverage prices just a little to make the experience a little more enjoyable for some of the blue-collar clientele.

Absolutely delicious! The service was amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. I had the garlic bread zep and the sauce was drinkable it was so good. I also had the artichoke hearts which was beautifully plated and also delicious. I would have ordered dessert but I was full by the end! But I will definitely be back for more!

We attended one of the soft open nights, and we had a pleasant time. The cocktail menu was unique, with some cool options. The food was good, definitely a carb lovers dream. We had some pizza and a few appetizers. The pepperoncini dip was incredible. The space is really nice with a historic and rustic vibe. Service was good, they were def working out some kinks, but that's to be expected during a soft open. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. I wish there were more protein options on the menu, like chicken wings or something. 90% of the menu is bread related. The 2nd floor event space is really nice, not sure about the practicality of only utilizing it for events. Hopefully they'll seat people up there for regular service, because it's really cool up there with the exposed rafters.

Loved Cooper Mill! Stopped by the night of the Orange Bowl and it was super busy - we sat down and were served pretty quickly despite how packed it was. Our server Rob was great - I had the espresso martini and i can't wait to try the other cocktails on the menu. We split The Perfect "10" pizza and it was amazing - DEFINITELY recommend getting the pesto drizzle. Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

Amazing cocktails!! Service at the bar was very tailored and nice, maybe because we went on a random Monday evening. Ambiance is very much a basic pizza/bar type spot.. not an instagramable ambiance but definitely worth the visit!

Cooper Mill at 10 Duke Street is stunning! The owners impeccable attention to detail is evident throughout the restaurant. The décor, lighting and overall vibe is very cozy. The waterfront view from the second-floor balcony is beautiful! It is a perfect location for an event, wedding, and/or lunch, dinner for one or more. The New Year's Eve party rocked! The restaurant shines with its menu choices offering creative options for both light and hearty eaters. The cocktails are tasty and generous servings. I highly recommend their pizza and pepperoncini dip. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I do not understand the negative review. I think somebody was having a bad day. My experience at this restaurant was outstanding, and I highly recommend it!

Great new spot in old town the upstairs was super cozy. The pepperoni pizza was excellent the Zepp (calzone) was just ok and the pretzel is gigantic! Stop by for happy hour when there are loads of specials. I will be back.

I desperately want to love this place. I need to love this place - in a sea of establishments which struggle to strike the balance between the tourists and locals of Old Town Alexandria, we locals are desperate for new fresh intentional accommodations. So many places have succumb to the ease of appeasing tourist dollars at the expense of capturing regular locals. So many local secrets get corrupted and lost...As much as I've had hopes that we may get to at least enjoy a new place before the tourists take over, I feel this place is way too rife for a quick and ready conversion to a tourist crowd without a full local anchoring. Let's start with the plusses: a great space and convenient location. Makes me wish I had bought the building. Let's investigate the minuses (according to this author-critic). Semi-inclusive space, mostly exclusive menu. This is a pizzeria; to think otherwise would be to disappoint yourself. Make sure your social group is a glutenous one or you will have a lot of empty plates and faces. Almost all items of the menu include dough. 2/3rds of the menu is pizzas and calzones. The remaining 1/3rd is comprised of very unsophisticated salads and apps - apps mostly have bread. No desserts. They seem to want to lead as an event space and then as a pizzeria - not Italian just pizza - I wonder if their event space menu will offer any more diversity. The primary area is a bar - bar seating, banquet seating and like 2-3 tables - all upstairs space is described as event space - but they tell me they will have tables outside in the warmer weather - quaint in a warehouse sort of way. Walking in, I think - great event space or industrial condo space - again I'd totally buy this building. They seem to be trying to position as "Italian" but not traditional which is evident by their espresso martini made with Reposado tequila among many other of their drinks leading with Tequila. I would say...it would behove them to anchor in some traditional Italian elements and not just everything being reworked to 'modern' if they want to be taken seriously. It feels like a couple college guys said "let's open an 'upscale pizzeria' so we can charge more but do less." Of the non-bready options I ordered the following: - the spicy corn salad described as elote - do not be fooled - this is a pile of corn with some avocado - yes spicy in a good way. But as a proportion, it's just a giant plate of corn - too much for any normal gut (let's go again! said the corn) . - the artichokes - gorgeous giant perfectly cooked artichokes but then drowned in some sort of aioli or ranch dressing that ruined it all - ask for this with the sauce on the side or just a light drizzle - the amount of 'ranch' is insane ans ruins the artichokes. - The stuffed mushrooms - This was great. Stuffed with sausage but very balanced, flavorful and tasty - 3 large mushrooms stuffed with sausage and cheese - only issue is that they say please allow 20 minutes to prepare and it came in 10 minutes. Others issues - no meatballs on apps menu and no shishito peppers. Menu has some room to add and adjust and be more accommodating and inclusive - until then - just come here for expensive pizza and bar seating. I hear they are going to start breakfast soon, but no brunch (yet). Also - I hear they have Negroni pre-made on tap - not sure this is a plus - I ordered a "mezcal negroni" on 2 separate occasions and here was my experience(s): 1) first time - they made it with mezcal, their own vermouth and their own amaro/bitters and it came out tasting like kool-aid. 2) second time - they made it with gin, mezcal and campari and had to remake it with mezcal, their sweet vermouth and campari. Still came out a bit sweet like strawberry. Staff is green; mid-training and unseasoned. Official launch is in a week or so. My only other concern is adjusting to demand given limited seating and seating types. They feel like an overflow space to Virtue, but less intentional or prepared. AND they don't even have an espresso machine!!!!!!!!

Like the previous reviewer, I too happened upon this place by accident. I had seen it being built for a while, and thought it was new condos, not a new restaurant. It sits on the old mill site, but is a brand new building. It is run by the Landini's, who basically own the north side of the 100 block of King Street. A lot of the wine and beer list will be familiar to those who frequent Landini Brothers on King. However, the menu is new. It actually is open for breakfast, which is unheard of for this end of Old Town! The breakfast and lunch menu look great. As I was there for the soft opening, there were some things that weren't available yet, which is to be expected. However, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly explaining what was and wasn't available yet. It seems like a lot of the staff had previous experience working in restaurants in Old Town, so they were knowledgeable about the area, which helped with dealing with the tourists I overheard them talking to. I did not get to see the second floor, so I can't comment on that, but the downstairs is roomy and not noisy like most restaurants. I feel that this restaurant fills the niche between Ada's On The River and Chadwick's, both nearby. All in all, a nice place that I hope does well in the future, and one that I will be going back to.

This restaurant is a very pretty space, and the service was really good. Very nice people working there. However, the food was completely unmemorable. We had a corn salad that literally was 99% pieces of corn, really uninteresting. And sidenote - served on an incredibly large, outsized plate that did not fit on the high top we were sitting at. Not sure who thought through the dishes, but this does not work for the setting they have created. We also had pizza that was dry, flavorless, and would definitely not recommend. This is a shame. Again, the space is very pretty, but I would not return to try anything else on the current menu.

Old town's new hot spot! The tavern style restaurant provides a cozy vibe with fantastic food/ drinks and service. You feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. The glass front door and windows give it a nice open feel, as well as a beautiful bar with several TVs for your viewing pleasure. Couldn't recommend it more.

I decided to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy, but I found a table pretty quickly. My server knew the menu well and was able to recommend a few things. I chose to try one of the sandwiches, which was delicious. I substituted the meat for sautéed mushrooms-perfect. My server was very attentive and checked in from time to time, but not too much. I see it as more of a bar vs. a restaurant because the menu leans toward what I consider "bar food." It was lively with a relaxed vibe. I'll certainly be coming back with friends in tow.
