My goodness, their homemade chips are delicious and their tamales are outstanding. Their menu is a vast majority of options from southern comforts to Mexican food with mole and a really good verde gravy. Their servings are massive and they are directly outside the campus for easy access to ETSU and the dome and football stadium. I really enjoyed their food. The staff was pretty good too and they have a super large cake selection and dessert section that looks great.

This was one of our favorite places to eat while in Johnson City Tennessee! The location we visited was across from ETSU. The service we received was excellent. Our servers introduced themselves with a smile and were delighted to provide recommendations since we were new to the Cootie Brown experience. Food was so delicious and the portions were more than we could eat in one setting. I also made sure to try their famous Key-lime pie, and it did not disappoint. It’s such a fun atmosphere, and the artwork around the place was great too!

Taco salad is excellent, Ruben sandwich was excellent as well. Cannot recommend the desserts enough, but carrot cake my favorite.

Decided to check this out for lunch on a Thursday. No wait, attentive service, and good atmosphere. I got the Cobb Salad, which was fresh & delicious! They also do draft buckets (flights) for $7 on Thursdays. Good selection of local fare. Would recommend!

My family really enjoyed our time and meal here. The atmosphere is really cool with plenty to look at with all the colorful decor. The service was prompt and friendly, and everyone said how much they enjoyed the food - high quality and large portions. We took home the key lime pie which was delicious!

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the wonderful dining experience I had recently. It was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time. The Maytag blue cheese spiral chips were fantastic, and the spicy pizza with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and ghost pepper cheese was absolutely amazing. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We went here for lunch before a band competition. They had just opened so it wasn't very crowded. The server was awesome. She was very friendly and service was very fast. The spiral potato chips were perfectly cooked with none that were soggy. The ranch that came with it was good as well. The beef tamale tasted great. The chicken and chili and cheese were fine. The barbecue beans were good. Unfortunately, the dry rub ribs had very little flavor in the dry rub and were a little bit dry overall. The barbecue sauce has a good amount of vinegar which is not my favorite style. We were too full for dessert. Next time I may need to try the wet ribs just in case but there are better ribs in Tennessee.

First time here visiting from Tampa FL...food was delicious atmosphere was perfect...I ordered a goat cheese burger with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach with a side of Roasted Artichoke and Sauteed Spinach It was amazing...the menu was fantastic, I also ordered a half Wood Burner Pizza...tomato sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, Spinach, mozzarella, goat cheese and ricotta cheese. Torrie was my beautiful server and sweet Oliva delivered my food. They were both perfect for additions to this restaurant...kind, knowledgeable, very accommodating, and very helpful ... this Best Burger I've had in a very long time ... they need to open a Cootie Browns in Tampa!!!

We love Cootie Brown's BUT recently we've noticed a few changes ... why try to fix what is not broken!?? We went tonight and our waitress was nothing but kind and accommodating. The girl that sat us made us feel like we were a burden, not sure what that was about because we wanted to sit by the window. Oh well. I ordered a Prickly Pear Margarita, I asked it not to be as sweet so maybe an extra shot of tequila and less nectar. It arrived and it was sweeter than the last time I ordered it a few weeks ago lol. I felt bad and didn't want to send it back but my husband insisted. So, I said, maybe just add a splash of nectar this time and it'll be great. She brings it, and the bartender added soda water and some other stuff and now it just tasted bitter and weird. Once again, I felt bad because I can't stand soda water LOL. I told her, I wish I was asked first bc now I had to return it again, which is never my intention. Waitress was so precious and said it was totally fine. I appreciate her hospitality and graciousness. I just opted to take my extra shot of tequila and a prosecco. Waitress was sweet and asked if the prosecco was okay, which I didn't know how to take that but I said it was great and if it wasn't, then there's something wrong with me haha. We get our conch fritters which are absolute bomb but Cooties!!!! Why did you change your chips to a glorified Pringle!? We used to love the chips that were half crispy half soft, perfection. Now they are just all crispy, kinda weird. Crispy is not a bad thing but this is NOT the OG chips Cooties served in the past. What's up with that!? And now, my beloved Mexican pizza used to have the incredible carmelized garlic cloves which made me love this pizza, now they are just chopped up random tidbits. I'm not just saying this yall, Cooties knows what I am talking about. Why are you guy changing such an amazing brand you started off with? We love you guys!!! Don't change! What's going on? Anyway, just my two cents, please get some incredible cocktails instead of insanely syrupy sweet ones. This bar could do so well, the cocktails are just below average. I'm just a native Johnson City girl that loved Cootie Browns but I'm just not sure where it's going or what it's doing. It will still have customers no doubt, but don't go changing perfection! We loved you guys and seeing things change is disheartening. Again, only my 2 cents. No doubt we will be back but it won't be as often as it used to be ... but if I hear the garlic cloves are back with new cocktail menu, I'm there! We love you Cooties, just have to tell it like I see it sometimes. We appreciate you being a staple in JC, and please don't get me wrong, we are blessed to have you.

We were looking for a spot open the day after Thanksgiving and my sister said this would be a spot since she's been. The menu is massive, like cheesecake factory massive. I ordered the salmon, jerk style, with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Overall a great place, just some solid small town american food.

I ordered the jerk chicken pizza and I didn't like it at all. I tried to eat one piece then I tried to catch the waitress to tell her I didn't like it but she kept running off. When I first got there I kept waiting to be seated and no one came around so I went to the restroom and finally someone seated me. I got the rest to go to keep from wasting it and the waitress said she would bring me a tea to go but she never came back. I actually had nachos here before and they were awesome but I'll never order that pizza here again. Might be awhile before I go back if ever. It was expensive, which I don't mind to pay if the food is good.

This is the place in Johnson City that you have to visit. I've never had a bad meal. Pizza was amazing. Thin crust cooked just right. Turkey Cheddar sandwich has always been a favorite for me. Restaurant has a cool vibe. Highly recommend you try this place. If you're visiting from out of town, put this place on your list. Oh and they are known for their pies. Key lime pie is my favorite.

Love this place. A fun relaxed vibe with great food. They've got a nice variety of Americana food, so the whole family can find something they like. Service is always prompt and friendly. This place is great for an afternoon church lunch to a first date and everything in between. P.S. the have a great tap list.

Went to Cootie Browns Saturday during Parents Weekend. Never been here but had high hopes. Came in and had a 45 minute wait, not crazy being it was parents weekend and ETSU home game, but game was still going and several open tables available. Once we got seated server was very friendly and quick to greet us and take app orders. We tried the Maytag Chips, which were awesome! Also tried the nachos and they were enjoyed as well. Placed the order for entree's and had a very very long wait, but again possibly kitchen backed up due to game day. When food was served we noticed that half of our food was cold and others seemed fresh. I had the wings and they were ok but did appear to have been under the warming light a little too long. Had really high hopes and still hoping maybe it will be better another time!

We tried the new location near the ETSU campus. What a wonderful surprise! The menu is the same as their 1st location. My companion had their 'fried bologna sandwich. I tried the crab cake appetizer, it was better than most places. The prices are average for my area. Service was exceptional but it was a slow Monday. Reservations are not usually needed for small groups. Overall, you should check out their eclectic menu. Will return again soon.

Cootie Browns offers a wide selection of offerings on their menu. I have tried many different selections and all have been very good. On my last visit I tried their pizza, and while they are not a pizza restaurant per se, it was one off the best pies I have ever had. This comes from a pizza snob. Service couldn't have been better on any of my visits, cleanliness has always been excellent, and while I am always too full from my meal, desserts look amazing and I am determined to try them sometime. Keep up the good work Cootie!

Service was very good here. The food was hit or miss. The nachos and chips with blue cheese were very good. I ordered the yellow fin tuna and it was very dry and overcooked. The rice was also dry. The artichoke and spinach side dish was good. A very wide menu and it appears they focus on a few things like tamales. Next time I'll order the burger.

Went here for lunch on a Tuesday, did not have a reservation but were seated immediately. The host was very outgoing and friendly as was our waitress. I ordered Memphis ribs with Brussel sprouts and asparagus. Each was very good. The interior has a high ceiling with an industrial overtone. There were several antique motorcycles hanging above the bar or seating area. I would not hesitate to return and try more from their very interesting menu.

The third Cootie Browns we've tried since moving to the Tri Cities area. Always a great experience. Delicious food and great service. Brought our out of town friends along and had a fabulous lunch on a quiet Saturday in August. Hubby enjoyed his Jerk Chicken sandwich with chips. Love the jerk sauce as a dip for the chips! I tried their Muffuletta (half sandwich) with chips. Delicious! Never had it as a pressed sandwich but will always eat it this way from now on. Think of it as an elevated grilled cheese and meat sandwich. Oh boy! Shared the Maytag Blue Cheese Chips appetizer with our friends. Enjoyed every bite! Water to drink on this hot August day.

Philly Cheese Steak was very good, meat was fresh and tender. However, my wife's Muffeleta Sandwich was awful, almost no meat, cold, and the buns were hard and cold. We've had them in the past but haven't ordered them in a couple of years - since Covid. Guess they changed that sandwich, for the WORSE! Won't order it again! Our server, Mattie, was excellent!!!

We've been ordering carry out for months but finally had a chance to eat in house. Ambience is great. Super staff! The Black Bean Nachos was big enough for two. Loaded with lots of extras. I also like their BBQ Black Bean Burger and Tamales. The famous Key Lime Pie is enough for two! My husband really likes the carrot cake.

Great food and service. Meg is the best always. Matt and Kylie are doing great. Always fun to sit at the bar if a seat is open.

Ate there yesterday and the food was just okay! Pork sandwich had no flavor, the little side of baked beans was enough for my toddler and they were going to charge me $39.99 for a whole peach pie!! I told them to take it back!! For 4 people eating sandwiches it was over a $100.00!!

Typically I love cootie browns, me and my husband go frequently. Tonight I ordered takeout and the lettuce in my salad was 3/4 bad, as in I couldn't eat 3/4 of the lettuce. Very disappointed in the quality of the food considering the price you pay.

I am a fan of Cootie Browns and I had an amazing Reuben tonight. We were with friends and also ordered a pizza. I am not sure why the restaurant says that pizza is their speciality but it was not good. I can't say it was my least favorite pizza, ever, but I wouldn't ever order it again. Our waitress was fabulous and we had a decent meal but the pizza was a downer.

Solid spot right here! Great service and the food is piled high(literally if you get the nachos). The steak pizza was totally different but delicious!

We had a NY Ruben, mexicali tacos and shrimp tacos. All the food and the Bloody Mary was delicious. Waiter forgot to tell us the Bloody Mary bar closed down at 4pm But he did offer to get whatever garnishments from the bar. Fast service, waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Restaurant was clean, plenty of seating, and while there wasn't outdoor seating they do have open air seating. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Fun and eccentric decor. Excellent drinks and service. Had the Jamaican Jerk sandwich--needed a stronger kick to it but tasty otherwise. Key lime pie to go was massive and delicious.

Went here because the service is usually better than the terrible service in Bristol... restaurant wasn't even half full but sat 25 minutes and no one even took our drink order, just got dirty looks from servers until we finally left. I guess just terrible management and service all around

I arrived to a nearly empty restaurant, so I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender wasn't wearing a mask, which surprised me; I figured she would mask up momentarily. I ordered a prime rib prepared medium, and my steak was delicious. If you enjoy craft beer, they have an excellent selection on tap. Unlike a below average pizza chain in town, their prices for said brews are very reasonable. Overall, the service was subpar, as the bartender spent more than 50% of my visit away from the bar conversing with her colleagues. It's a good thing I didn't need my water topped off or another drink. Furthermore, she failed to wear a mask for the entirety of my visit. During a once-in-a-century pandemic, it's inexcusable to operate in such an irresponsible manner.

Saw some mixed reviews on this place, but decided to give it a go. We went on a Friday around 6:45 which was peak time. Wait was 35 minutes but we were able to sit in our car and wait to be texted. We were seated in one of the open window booths and it was so nice because it was cool and rainy out. On advice from some of the Yelp reviews I had read before coming, we ordered the Reuben sandwich with chips and a half Caribbean pizza. Both were out of this world delicious! Loved every bite! Next we tried the key lime pie and peach pie. The key lime was much better than the peach. although both were excellent. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Brought us refills without us having to ask. Love the decor, nice upbeat atmosphere, great wait staff, and epic food. We will definitely be back!

I ask the hostess for a table for one at 2:15 pm Wednesday. She is clearly annoyed that I don't want to sit at the bar. Every unoccupied booth has not been cleaned. I wait for her to bus a booth for me and watch as she wipes the crumbs directly onto the bench and motions for me to sit. In the crumbs. I wait for twelve minutes as two servers walk past my booth and ignore me multiple times. Another server stands chatting with a party two booths up the entire time, also ignoring me. I walk to the pastry bar and ask to speak to the manager. I wait for her to finish her conversation with an employee. She does not. I leave. I will not return.

I've been coming to Cootie Browns for years and it never disappoints! We decided to check out the new location and.. wow! Love the interior, lots of fun decorations everywhere. The parking lot is plenty spacious, they have a nice size bar top, and the staff is friendly. The black bean burger is my go-to on the menu, but the pizza is a close second! They are taking extra precautions during this time due to Covid-19 too. You really won't be disappointed dining at Cootie's! Big thank you to the staff and owners for making the dining experience a nice one. P.S. please open a Cootie Brown's in Kingsport!!

So many options for great food here! Not as eclectic of an environment as the original on Roan, but better food & drink selection here. Great draft beer selection as well as cocktails. Highly recommend both the white & red sangrias. Also better service generally. Pizzas, burgers, salads, nachos, sandwiches are all excellent. Good brunch menu on Sundays. If you're visiting in the fall, definitely don't skip the pumpkin cheesecake - it is phenomenal.

A funky looking place but great food! Service was quick, friendly, and thorough. The three of us ordered the muffaletta and one order of a barbecue sandwhich. The highlight was diving into those potato curl chips with a garlicky, cheesy dip. Oh my! We will definitely be back!

Finally gave this place a try after a year of hearing great things, and we weren't disappointed. They got really busy really fast, and I could tell the staff was stressed, but they handled it very well and were all very polite and accommodating despite the dinner rush on a holiday. We only ordered drinks and an appetizer. The beer list is fantastic and my wife's mango-something margarita has her wanting to come back for that alone lol. Our waiter, Tyler E did a great job, and I want to commend all the staff as they covered each other well and kept business moving smoothly. We will ABSOLUTELY come back for a date night soon!

You will never regret ordering a pizza with roast garlic. They are very generous with sweetly roasted sliced cloves. Service has always been good. Grilled chicken breast Italiano was dry and chewy.

Food was great service was excellent, but 2 pizzas, 2 drinks & an order of queso was a cool $62.96. They literally charge for every extra topping including $2.95 for pepperoni, $1.95 for vegetables. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Love coming to Johnson City and enjoying the tamales at Cootie Browns. The chicken tacos are amazing as well.

We came to town for the first time to drop our daughter off at ETSU. We liked everything about Cootie Brown from how we were greeted to the service. Our waitress was awesome. The food was good the drinks a bit weak but still good. We will be coming back for sure.

We love Cootie Browns, my wife is vegan and they have a lot of options for her. We have tried different items on their menu and we have never been disappointed.

I called in my order, talked to a young man who was very kind and considerate, and made sure to go over my order. When I picked it up, it was all correct still hot. I would highly recommend this Cody Brown's.

For such a diverse menu, everything we had was pretty good. I went with the nachos. They were awesome. Teenager #1 went with a pepperoni, bacon and pineapple pizza. The pineapple came with mango and the bacon was really hard - she says. The server did tell us about the pineapple being mixed with mango when she ordered. The other teenager had a burger and loved it and the hubs didn't make any comments about the portions being weak...which is saying a lot! Our server was super sweet. Highly recommend.

This resteraunt is alive with atmosphere, and ambiance of energy and casual conversations. High tables with high pull up chairs; a bar for embibing, and picnic type tables for larger groups, provided the casual 'pull up a chair' environemnt. A menu resembling a small town newspaper was filled with categories of foods to enjoy: hamburgers with vegetarian options and all the fixin's; their homemade Tamales with a 'Tamale Tuesday' offering of a dollar off the usual price; salads; BBQ Memphis style; sanwhiches; homemade fries and chips with dipping sauces; plenty of options for drinks including a full bar-type menu. The walls were covered in vintage style adertisement posters, and numerous televisions were stratigically placed yet the volume was not invasive to the conversations. The staff were easily identifiable and lent their help and did not leave the table for too long between sitting down, ordering, recieving the food ordered, returning to question for desert and addressing the bill and returning the competed bill paid. The bathrooms were clean, plenty of soap and towels to clean and dry and the areas was clean for use. They did have their pies and cakes visually displayed, as well as their own brand's of meat rubs, seasonings and attire to be purchased if desired. This place was a fun, casual, enjoyable place to simply enjoy the type of cuisine they advertised. I did not try the BBQ, yet I did try their home made Tamales. I rated their tamales, the green hatch version at a 3 compared to the rated '5' tamales of the SouthWest locations where the Mexican and Native Americans produced the best I've ever tried. The Tamales where good, and I would get them again, yet they were large and tended to be a bit dry. They were authentically wrapped in corn husks, and for an additional $2.99 'toppings' of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream could be added of which I chose to add. The Tamales were enjoyeable, yet if one has traveld to the SouthWest, the Tamales of Cootie Brown's will be a bit disappointing. Yet, let me be clear: the tamales are good! The deserts were large portioned and easily shareable. Our group tried the 'peach pie' which was not a typically expected 'peach pie' of the Eastern Southwest, in my opinion. This peach pie tended to run into the category of a 'cream peach pie' or a 'cheese cake peach pie'. IF the order is expecting a pie crust with peach filling this will not be what is delivered. However, the 'peach pie' was well made, tasted fantastic and beautifully displayed. This particular resteraunt is located across the street from the Eastern Tennesee University Campus. We visited in mid July of 2022 and I would imagine IF visiting during the college season's of August through May, this particular location would be filled to tseating capacity. I loved the experience, enjoyed the food and the environment. If you have yet to go to a Cootie Brown's, I would say it is well worth the try!

We got a really good pizza 14 inch for I think it was $11 we have Italian sausage little bit of jalapeños mushrooms on a whole wheat crust with a little bit of jalapeños and black olives and it's really really delicious the crust is super crispy service was really good and quick will be back

Great food and service.Loved the raspberry cheesecake! Variety of choices. A bit loud but it is a sports place.

Don't get the chicken dishes- thin breast very dry. I got smothered so gravy and cheese helped moisten it back. Husband got Italian so slice of mozzarella and slice Roma tomatoes didn't help moisten. Brussel sprouts were amazing. The gentleman that seated us was upbeat and wonderful and the waitress was also attentive. The tamales looked good at the next table over and we've eaten their pizza before and it was good also.

Have been to the ETSU location multiple times while in town visiting my parents, food is consistent, menu is diverse and beer selection is excellent. Yes, I'm sure you can find cheaper food in town, but no matter where you live these days, the increase in food and labor costs have a significant impact on prices at a restaurants. If you can't afford to eat out, then don't. Some of these other reviews are total nonsense! The place has a nice vibe and service and food has always been good. Come on in and enjoy yourselves, I certainly do!!

after waiting over 45 mins for food it was brought out by our waitress (who definiety lacked in the personality) our plates consisted of 3/4 of plate being chips and the other 1/4 our food. Which in the end it didn't matter because food was sub par at best. I really didn't even won't to waste calories on it. Cootie Browns used to take pride in their food. Not sure what has happened

When the local pizza place had to close early unexpectedly, we moved across the street to Cootie Browns and what a great choice it was! My wife got the Beale Street pizza and she loved it. The atmosphere is great for both college students and families. This was definitely our favorite restaurant in JC!

Very cute place with very friendly staff. We had pizza and sandwiches. The pizza is more of a grilled flatbread. The Memphis Pizza was disappointing, sauce was sickly sweet and BBQ was dry and bland. Regular pepperoni pizza was ok, but still grilled flatbread for a crust. We had a turkey club, the cheese tasted like a Kraft single.

The atmosphere is great. Love the open are seating, makes me feel like vacation. My husband got the brat and our kid got the ham sandwich of some sorts. They liked theirs very much. I ordered the nachos supreme. It looks amazing, but tasted like I was eating a salt lick. I couldn't eat it. My husband tried it and everything on the plate had way too much salt. Definitely wouldn't get the nachos again. Will come back hoping to find something good here before I do really enjoy the open air dining and friendly staff.

We love this place! We go out of our way to visit this restaurant every time we visit Tennessee. We live 4 hours away and visit once a year on business and always visit Cootie Brown's while we are in town. Thanks for the great food and service!

Me mother and I tried Cootie Browns in October. We both liked there BBQ sandwich and the homemade chips but the slaw tasted like it can from a tub . We got the Key Lime pie and the Carrot cake for dessert they were both unimpressive and not worth the $$. My advice get the BBQ sandwich with the slaw on the side and skip dessert
