Jeremy Fall Opens New Restaurant in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"For a brief flicker in time the space housed a rotisserie chicken and whiskey concept called Rye Fox, but that didn't last long." - Farley Elliott

Google
“What does the fox say?” The drinks were great and the Original Rye was our favorite. We were too late today, and they were all booked for tours through the New Year, but the staff let us down easy and were super kind and helpful. The space is quite wooden and quaint. The sho has great finds as well. Loved the socks! Cheers!

Google
An excellent distillery with Old Fashioned flights and spirit tastings. Our teenagers were welcome and it was perfectly chill for a Saturday afternoon. Be advised there is a drink maximum so you aren't able to try both flights and have a cocktail, but its definitely a place you could come back to again and again.

My brother told us about Copper Fox as he and my sister in law stayed at the former Lord Pageants Inn many times in the '80's. What a fantastic time we had. Scott (one of the owners) did our tour. He was fabulous. It was so interesting to hear and see how whisky and bourbon is made. It was a blast from the past that this was a hotel at one time and now has been repurposed for the distillery. Thank you Scott!!!! Keep up the GREAT work ❤️

Google
Book a tour or just stop by, but do not miss this opportunity to taste some of the best rye, whiskey and Amaro made in the US! While here you can taste a flight or order cocktails. Plus they have some delicious vegetarian and gluten free food options

I came to this distillery for a weekday tour while visiting Williamsburg. The buildings are so cool (formerly a hotel with several detached buildings). The tour was $10, super interesting, and totally worth it. The bar is nice and service was great!

Google
This is a great way to spend afternoon in Williamsburg! Very detailed tour through all stages of bourbon production and charming property with history. From the beginning you feel enchanted with wooden entrance, chandelier and cute foxes figurines. Bourbon tasting after tour was a wonderful treat with discounted price when you pay for tour. Highly recommend this tour for adults.

Google
This is definitely a place that is an experience! The staff is very friendly in the good way, not just being nice for a job.

Google
Gabe, Jesse, and Brie were all amazing hosts during our visit to Copper Fox! From the hands-on distillery tour, to the delicious drinks and fun conversation, this was definitely a top 3 highlight of our Virginia trip! Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
Cooper Fox is always a must when in Williamsburg. They are always so friendly and knowledgeable about the all the drinks onsite. We did a tasting and also had some cocktails. The eggnog was amazing! We also had the pear and ginger punch, which was very refreshing. It's a great spot to catch a few drinks and get some light snacks. It's a laidback and casual spot to chat, catch up with friends, or just to relax. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is truly amazing experience for me and my family! We planned to visit Williamsburg and since we were in almost every museum in the town, I decided to book a tour on Copper Fox distillery. Super charming afternoon we spent there will be remembered for long time. We were toured through all malting and distilling processes, saw all stages of bourbon production and finally had beautiful bourbon tasting for discounted prices since we paid for the tour. I'm not a bourbon expert ,but historic building, charming chandelier ,passionate team of professionals and happy people around, make me feel happy... Highly recommended for adults to spend couple hours with touring and tasting, locals should be proud to have such a great place in neighborhood.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem of an establishment. Speak easy style book case entrance and some wonderfully creative whiskeys and bourbons. Bartenders are VERY KNOWLEDGABLE and very attentive and friendly. Love the repurposing of the moto lodge and keeping it authentic with the feel and ambience. You MUST experience this for yourself. Take the tour taste and buy some product to take a bunch home.

Yelp
Great find!! We stopped during a rainy day and it was like sunshine to walk into here. We were greeted by two wonderful people. They welcomed us to sit any where we wanted to and ask any questions. Our treats were two separate flights of whiskey. Followed up by splitting the Old Fashion flight for dessert. All of the beverages were great and the greeting with the unique humor and decor made the sun to come out.

Yelp
I've now been here twice and both times have been excellent! A great venue with a variety of drinks (including non-alcoholic drinks), friendly staff and a great vibe. They offer specials on different days of the week, usually have a food truck on-site and have special events. Seating both inside and outside with a beautiful outdoor space.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
Really cool place. Great repurposing of an old motel. You enter the tasting room through a bookcase. We spent a rainy afternoon here. Nice stop in Williamsburg and you can tour the distillery.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Gabriel did a great job with the tour. He was informative and very knowledgeable about the process. Facility is neat and different. Must try if you are around.

Yelp
At about 4 p.m. on a Saturday after a day of sightseeing, I was looking for somewhere to sit and relax with my book--this was a great choice for that. Service was quick, kind, and thorough. As a solo diner, I always appreciate servers who are attentive, but not overly bothersome (and not judgmental or too chatty). As I perused the menu, I was having a hard time choosing which Old Fashioned I wanted to try...so I was very excited to see they offer an Old Fashioned flight! I'm actually not a huge whiskey drinker, so I won't even try to share my opinion on that, but the cocktails were tasty and, again, I was grateful to be able to taste a few!

Mike D.

Yelp
Great fun distillery. Nice tour, however intoxicating in was. Knowledgable tour guide

Michelle S.

Yelp
Started with a tasting and a snack. We then did a tour with Gabe. He was very friendly & very informative. It was a fun time! Be sure to add this to your visit!

Yelp
Went here as we were camping in the area and figured why not? We've been broadening our alcohol perspectives and this has been a fun journey so far. The customer service was phenomenal. Everyone was super friendly and the environment is exactly what we wanted. Good vibes with doggo, good drinks, and laid back atmosphere. Nailed it! What was surprising was the property this place exists on. It's substantial. If you go outside to walk around, you'll see the outdoor bar, games, and random facilities. The possibilities of this place are quite endless. If they every do an airbnb style setup, I'd totally be down. Thanks Copper Fox for a great time! I'm sure we'll be back! Food Taste: 5 Overall Service: 5 Value of food to cost: 5 Facility: 5 Ambiance: HUGE location if you start to walk around. The main tasting area is very rustic and classy. Big fan of this place Repeat customer: yes Dog Friendly: yes

Yelp
Stopped in while visiting Williamsburg and went on a distillery tour with Gabe. He was very knowledgeable, funny, and made the tour enjoyable. Then we enjoyed some drinks in the cocktail room with Jesse. Great whisky and would definitely be back!

Yelp
If you drink alcohol whatsoever this distillery is a must visit if you are visiting Williamsburg. The building is beautiful, inside and out. The service is outstanding, they are knowledgeable about their product and are helpful with making suggestions. The flights are a great way to taste what they have. If you don't like tasting it alone the cocktails are also delicious.

Austen A.

Yelp
Great food and better service. Kenny was an excellent server, and he recommended great foods and drinks.
google avatar

Jon-Paul P.

Yelp
Everything about this place is a delight. The cocktails are wonderful, the vibes are incredible with the hidden door and the old time maps that nobody seems to be able to pin down the era they came from, and the food truck options they have there regularly are delicious. The crew are so welcoming and friendly as well. The only thing I have yet to do is the tour.
google avatar

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
We had a very nice tour and visit at Copper Fox Distillery. It was fascinating to see how an old hotel from the 1960s in the middle of tourist Williamsburg has been turned into scotch distillery. I enjoyed learning about the process of making scotch, how Copper Fox's scotch is different from Scottish scotch (no peat), why they do not make bourbon (except for 1 recipe) and the entire process. After the tour concluded, we adjourned to the lounge where we had a tasting. I am not a big scotch fan, but I did enjoy their 1797 Belle Grove, based on a Colonial Virginia bourbon recipe.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
The guy who serves you is friendly and knowledgeable. This distillery has a different take on whiskey. Lots of finishes and different styles. We paid 15 for four 1/4 ounce pours that were just OK. There wasn't a bottle I would own. Nice sitting room with music, maps, and comfortable chairs.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by copper fox today for his birthday. When we entered, we saw a sign pointing us to go left, but we felt a bit lost. That's because the door is a bookcase! So cool! Once we realized where to go we immediately headed towards the two most comfy looking chairs. We were greeted right away! Staff was phenomenal. Constantly checking in on us. They even gave us a review sheet to fill out for a 10% discount. Appreciated that greatly! Drinks were perfect. I'm not a big drinker myself, and the employee recommended a drink based off my preferences. He nailed it! We would love to come back on a night with live music. Only wish they were closer to us!

Yelp
Great atmosphere where the servers are warm and friendly, and like to get to know you. Got a bourbon flight and special strawberry bourbon cocktail which was a nice balance of sweet with just enough bourbon to make you feel good. There was a food truck on site over the weekend in case you wanted food.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Took a tour of the distillery and learn a lot about how they process the whiskey from behind to end. I'm a new whiskey enthusiast and this was a bday gift. The staff are super friendly and well of course the whiskey was great.
google avatar

Stina Marie A.

Yelp
Super glad we stopped in. Has a great time! We got a flight, a couple drinks and a cheese board (we just minuses the meat). The whiskey was FANTASTIC!!! Drinks and finger foods are average priced, staff was super friendly and the ambiance was great.
google avatar

Jodi B.

Yelp
Came here on a sleepy Sunday and tried all the flights. The port whiskey was my favorite. We ended up buying the Peachwood as a gift to make Manhattan's. I ordered the Amaro cocktail and my husband liked their Old Fashioned. Cozy inside and they offer board games as well while you enjoy craft cocktails
google avatar

Andy K.

Yelp
Copper fox is an amazing surprise. The cocktails made with there onsite distillation are amazing. They have an outdoor seating area and an indoor seating space. The night I went they offered a food truck. The complex is a repurposed hotel I think which gives it an interesting vibe. I received a cocktail that was a bit light in volume due to the expensive liquor it was made with. I made comment about it to the bartender and he informed me that was how it was served, shortly after the owner brought me a cocktail on the house. You shouldn't miss this place on any brewery/distillery tour of Willamsburg.

Yelp
You don't have to be sly as a fox to find this distillery In Williamsburg! It's right off the main thoroughfare through town! Traveling with some whiskey lovers, we definitely made it a point to stop here and taste their goods! What a divinely warm entryway... be distill my heart. The rooms almost seem like a holy place... warm wood floors enveloping you as you wandered through these hallowed halls. I found myself tiptoeing from gorgeous room to gorgeous room. Lots of cozy leather chairs, velvet settees, shelves of antiques and curiosities, gilded mirrors, coat of arms, lush rugs, and of course, a fox or two keeping watch over the goods! The huge armoire full of whiskey certainly caught or eye! The bar is beautiful peppered with barrel tables and bar stools. They really make this an inviting space where you could nestle in and stay awhile! The guys tried several whiskeys, and we purchased a few sassy single malts and ryes. The gift shop is awesome; I picked up a muddler, some fun fox sox, a baseball cap, and a couple other gifts for the guys! They sell cocktail kits, ice stones, glasses and even mini corn hole games! If you are in the Williamsburg area, you mustn't whisk past this distillery! Go in and taste this heavenly liquid! The prices are reasonable so you won't spend a lot copper!

Yelp
Very beautiful distillery. We loved the entryway, reminiscent of an old farm house. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They offered a $10 tour but we declined, we only came for a quick few drinks for a friends birthday. We especially loved the outdoor seating. The seating is very open and we enjoyed the fire pit. The cocktails were delicious and the staff offered us $5 Blonde Mary's because it was the Sunday special. It was all of our first time visiting and we would definitely be back! 10/10 ambiance and drinks.

Scott L.

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends and my spouse, and we each ordered a cocktail. The ambiance of the place was very, bland, and the service we received was equally bland. The drinks were okay, the location is fine, but the atmosphere was lacking. Will continue drinking Copper Fox's spirits as they are quite good, but may pass on returning to the location.

Chris L.

Yelp
We came the other day (Thu afternoon) and I had the whiskey flight and my wife had the Old Fashioned flight. Great spot and we anticipated creating space to come back. We did on Sunday afternoon and asked for two old fashioneds, one with the CF (Cooper Fox) rye and one with the CF chestnut... they said they were on a limited menu today but could go ahead and do it (Really? And old fashioned is too complex for a distillery?). They were delivered fairly quickly, but in plastic cups (miss), one with a lemon garnish (?), with ice chips (huge miss), and were quite sweet. Such a miss, Copper Fox. You have such a cool venue and some great whiskey, but your delivery was a miss all around. You have glassware - use it. You have great whiskey - highlight, don't drown it with basic simple syrup. You e got this - make it happen!
google avatar

Daniel D.

Yelp
Business hours were very limited. Did not have time to visit as they close very early.

Lisa L.

Yelp
The service was amazing! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our cocktails were absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
This distillery has a cute tasting room that looks like an authentic speakeasy! The shop on the right has a lot of options but I do have to say that the whiskey is a bit right. Turn to the left and try an array of tastings that will transport you to somewhere in the Highlands. Not everything may be your cup of tea but it'll still be worth visiting this local distillery.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
The service was incredible! Before I even sat down with was greeted. The whiskey was so good and I loved how friendly everyone was. Please try this amazing distillery out. You will not be disappointed!

Denise W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and excellent service. Drinks are a very interesting combo but loved the pirate tiki, the painkiller, and the cucumber smash.

Xena Z.

Yelp
Employees are exceptionally kind and knowledgeable, every offering on the menu was thought through, this broadened the experience and a visit reasons for things in addition to drinks. Ambiance offers a variety of settings (bar chairs, dining tables, couches) - a great perk. Touring the distillery is an option if the timing is right (calling to check would be best). A delicious experience.

Yelp
We decided to make a trip to the distillery after meeting up with the cousins. What a neat spot!!! The bartender was super accommodating seeing that we had our kids with us. She gave the kids some pretzels and even some water so the kids could have a "tea party" as my daughter called it and my son was able to "Cheers" We ended up scooping up an area of couches for the kids to hang out while my husband and I did our tasting. Tasting was $10 each I think we were able to choose 5 tastings. I really enjoyed it... surprisingly their Rye's were pretty good and I'm not even a rye fan. The Sassy, Peachwood and Apple Brandy were surprisingly good. The cognac barrel finish was amazing the bourbon mash on the other hand tasted like rubbing alcohol... man thinking about it now makes me never want that taste in my mouth again. Overall it is a really cute spot and a fun hang out area as they also make drinks so you can hang out after the tastings. I tried an old fashioned with pear and ginger and my husband had the sassy sazerac... we both enjoyed our drinks. All in all we would totally go back and have a drink!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. This place is horrible. I can't even say it's the Taco Bell of whiskeys...I mean, is there a place worse than Taco Bell? First, let's start with the fact everything is spelled Whisky and not Whiskey. Maybe you want to make it a statement piece, but I guarantee you what a tour guide shouldn't say is "oh that's not true, but if it is spelled that way, it's the way that person who made the sign...they spelled it wrong." This tells me your tour guide literally doesn't know what's on the bottles that are leaving your store. Second, the tour is like Pulp Fiction, conducted backwards, in that you see a portion of the middle before seeing the end and then the beginning. If you wanted to see the proper whiskey distilling process, why not start at the beginning? In this case, our tour guide couldn't even remember what part of the tour he was on and when questioned he would get flustered and tell us we were wrong. Explain to me why one room has 18 month barrels with January 2022 dates on them, but the room supposedly holding barrels that have finished their first 18 month process and are in their 4 to 5 year sit have the same dates on them? Let's get to the reason people do these tours...the alcohol. Basically people want to drink. In this case, feel free to get a discount on the tastings that make you feel like you are drinking gasoline. In fact, I bet gasoline has higher quality. Everything tastes the same, there is absolutely no information given from the person who serves you, and you basically just have to wing it while you choke down liquid fire. If you've never had heartburn, stop by here for your first experience

Yelp
We spent a lovely afternoon at Copper Fox for a tour and tasting on Sunday. My husband and I have toured numerous distilleries and this was truly the most informative we've ever been on. The tasting room was spacious and my husband enjoyed the Premium Flight. If you are not interesting in a tasting they have a pretty substantial cocktail and bar snack menu. The charcuterie board was delicious and well presented. We truly enjoyed our experience with the staff at Copper Fox and look forward to visiting again.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
We came to Copper Fox as we were making our way through the local breweries and distilleries around Williamsburg. We love the atmosphere - the decor, the plush couches and cozy chairs, make you feel like you are in someone's private study and enjoying their carefully curated whiskey collection. We've returned here a couple of times when we're in the area, and always make time to grab a flight here. Sign up for their e-mail list (especially if you're local) so you can receive updates about what's happening at the Distillery and any special events they may be organizing. That's how I was able to find out about their whiskey and chocolate pairings for Valentine's day and that was certainly a treat!
google avatar

Mary R.

Yelp
The staff was exceptional with our kids! (18 month old twins and a 2.5 year old). Cocktails were amazing. The atmosphere was cool, calm and collect! They have a very open outdoor area as well! We definitely took a couple of bottles home with us!
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
we were so lucky we were staying nearby, my boyfriend and I beat our friends there so we stopped by to kill some time. My partners has recently gotten into whiskey and the frontman there Jesse was extremely helpful and friendly. I am not a distillery fan usually but tried a blackberry cocktail with gin and it was great. We forced our friends to come back and visit again before we had to leave. It's a very chill scene and great atmosphere, with the main bar located behind a bookcase speakeasy-style. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Williamsburg
google avatar

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to stop in due to the walking distance from our hotel (2 minutes). When you walk in, it is absolutely breathtaking. It has such a comforting vibe to it. There are plenty of bar seats, couch seats, tables, and outdoor seating. I didn't catch their names, but the two gentlemen that helped us were very accommodating. I ordered the Whiky Sour and the Pirates Tiki (not pictured/highly recommended). If we were not in a rush, we would have ordered the charcuterie board; It looked lovely. When you sit down, they bring you a canteen of water and a bowl of pretzels. I wish I could give them 10 stars
google avatar

Rich S.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to the entertainment and culture of Williamsburg. Rick Wasmund (the owner) had a vision to make this abandoned motor court a destination. His vision became reality and now this is a super fun spot for tourists and locals to come drink locally made spirits in a setting that is unique and genuine. In the colder months, staff is happy to get a fire pit going. Nothing beats bourbon by the fire!
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The flavors are awesome. Tasting notes across the spectrum. Also sampled their Gin. Copper stills are reminiscent of Woodford Reserve and the notes of the Chestnut American Whiskey leave a butterscotch finish. The apple brandy finished Whiskey has a phenomenal nose.
google avatar

Randy H.

Yelp
Wow! What a great place and even better whiskey. Their Rhye Whiskey is excellent - some of the best I have ever had. It was very smooth and satisfying to the taste. The outdoor venue was rustic but comfortable and we enjoyed both live music acts. I highly recommend teh Copper Fox if you are looking for something different and some good adult beverages.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a must go to! The interior and exterior are gorgeous with so much authenticity. This is not like every other place. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived. All staff was friendly and talented with drink making. I'm not a whiskey drinker but, wow! I had lavender old fashion and cilantro cucumber martini. Both were amazing. Price was extremely reasonable. You are missing out if you don't go!

Yelp
What a great experience!!! Copper Fox Distillery has a very knowledgeable staff ready to share all the awesome details of their liquors and process distilling. VA ABC laws limit your tasting, but you get an awesome experience with a variety of liquors. There's a little something unique for everyone. I'm not usually a gin fan, however, their Vir Gin is a very different blend of flavors! The anise balances the floral and herbaceous flavors to something a little warmer than a typical gin. I was a big fan of their ryes and rye variations. Their single malt whiskey is reminiscent of a scotch, so I was less of a fan, but that's only reflective of my personal taste, not their product. They have an excellent cocktail menu that offers a variety of ways to experience their product in a less "throw 'em back" whiskey tasting.... (Am I the only one who feels the need to drink whiskey tastings like I'm in a saloon?) And they have a patio area for hanging out and enjoying that cocktail! Note, they are pretty hidden behind what appears to be an abandoned motel. Don't be scared, just follow the signs to the back where the tasting room is located. You'll be pleasantly surprised at their tasting room. The distillery has big plans for the facility to include a bed and breakfast eventually. While it may be hidden, it's definitely a hidden gem!
google avatar

Kristin N.

Yelp
Hard to catch the vibe of the clientele because we were in midday on a Wednesday, but the staff was very attentive and helpful with our questions, and the building itself was absolutely lovely. Comfy vibe, and bonus points for being dog friendly!
google avatar

Meridena K.

Yelp
I love this distillery. Small and friendly, it's a great place to stop for a cocktail or tasting. In fact, I like their gin more than any other gin that I've had. It's unique, and worth a try. You can join a tour, every hour or so, it's only 20 or so minutes and fun to see the property. Prices for bottles are relatively high, but if you can swing it, it's worth the splurge for one or two bottles for a special occasion or gift. I came here several years ago to try, and then came back a few years later and they had made lots of improvements and expansions. Ambience is casual, you can sit at the bar, or in the sofa & soft chairs. Totally recommend.

Yelp
We just visited the Copper Fox Distillery yesterday for our wedding anniversary day. On Tuesday we visited Food For Thought and I came across Copper Fox's VIRgin and I loved the flavour of it. Almost 10 years ago while living in Shanghai a friend of mine who is from Australia told me how much he loved gin, and I never had it before, but I purchased him a bottle for his birthday... he let me try some and ever since I have been a fan. While in college I bartended for many years and as a mixologist I was able to try many different types of sprits through countless dozens of different tastings. Well, if you are a fan of gin, you will love Copper Fox's VIR "GIN". Though I would only recommend drinking it with a premier tonic, like that made by Fever Tree, which is a premium Indian tonic, it is not cheap, but seeing that when you use more mixer than alcohol, you do not want to use a cheap mixer. While heading back home to Atlanta, we stopped here at the Copper Fox Distillery. Fortunately for us, we went drove back home yesterday on Wednesday and they were open, as they are closed on Tuesdays. We first did a tasting of their whiskies and they were very good, smooth and silky with great aroma. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, but before the tour I read a bunch of reviews and watch some videos by Rick Wasmund, the owner so I knew a little bit about the history of this place before coming here. Our tour guide was wonderful and showed us around the whole place and explained how the whole process works of making their whiskies. I love that they used this historical hotel from the 1950's and converted it into a distillery. It is great to see a place that takes pride in what they do, so much that they do everything by hand. I was impressed to hear that no matter how big and successful they become, they will continue to do everything by hand, and just hire more staff... instead of becoming automated like every other distillery does here in the United States. For $8 we were able to taste four different whiskies and afterwards we purchased two bottles of whisky and a bottle of their gin, as well as some merchandise. Hopefully in the future they make a gift package with all of their whiskies and their gin. That would make a perfect gift for a birthday, boss, wedding, anniversary, or holiday. My wife loves bourbons and whiskies and was extremely impressed with these guys. We cannot wait until they finish the remodeling of the hotel and turn this place also into a bed and breakfast. I wish these guys nothing but much success. I agree with the other reviewers too, these guys will be very successful as they are doing it right. Excellent customer service and a superior product. Yelp
Went on a tour with my son and his wife. Wonderful tour. Very informative. The guide was knowledgeable and asked questions with ease. The cocktails after the tour were very tasty. Great opportunity to view a distillery.
