Super cute spot with high-quality food! The chicken ceasar wrap i got was STUFFED and the dressing was very good and unique, definitely made in house. Also love the fresh hand cut fried that come with!!! 10/10

Google
Excellent Place for lunch! Ordered Greek salad with grilled chicken and a chicken wings with a side house salad (instead of french fries). Very fresh taste! A lot of salad for the price! The wings were unusual, they were a deep fried which made them crunchier and just melt in the mouth. You have to eat them hot! Really loved Cooper Kettle. Highly recommended!

Ordered two sandwiches. Absolutely horrible. Didn’t finish anything we bought. This used to be our favorite stop while in basking ridge. Very disappointing that it has fallen apart so bad. Top worst sandwiches I have ordered anywhere. Sad to see our old lunch spot gone so bad. Update: I was asked to update per the response from Copper Kettle… thank you for asking for specifics. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a roll with lettuce, onion, and cheese. The roll was sub par. (Over looked that) By appearance the chicken salad was green. Which could be ok if using fresh herbs. The appearance wasn’t the problem so much it was the taste. It tasted like a literal salt shaker. Over done with the salt is not a thing that you can just eat anyway. Between two people took a few bites and couldn’t finish it. Second sandwich was eggplant parm. Eggplant had more “breading” than eggplant. Cut thin is a definite term here. It was over cooked and hard on the outside. The mozz was the opposite cut very thick and didn’t melt at all. The roasted peppers were fine but the only flavor of the sandwich. Again the roll was sub par. Bag of Utz chips with each sandwich lacked any salt which was ironic due to the salty chicken salad. (Not the restaurants fault. They are made by a company) Service was fine. We didn’t wait overly long (we were the only people in the place) and the guy at the counter was friendly. We should have read the other reviews prior to going in. When we lived in basking ridge we frequently went here. We will not return.

Google
THOROUGHLY under rated. The food is definitely freshly made. The roll was definitely not store bought and the tomato sauce has little cherry tomatoes in there for extra sweetness. Perfect combination of sweetness and salty. The roll is also slightly sweet and airy. My only issue is no indoor seating but the outdoor seating is nice (if not a little noisy from the road). Overall great food and great service. I would highly recommend this place.

Google
Great little stop off. We had great homemade juices. One cucumber and one lemonade with mint. The freshly baked cookie came and warm and gooey and was delicious. Lovely lady on the counter, delightfully friendly, welcoming and helpful. Thanks for a great mid morning break!

Google
Food is clean and delicious, not heavy at all and everything is halal. Owners are very sweet and generous — I was attending an event at my mentor’s house nearby and they had turned off the grill, but when they told him they were hosting someone who eats halal-only, they made an exception and took my order fully, and THEN SOME. I never met them before but I definitely want to visit to meet them in person. High quality service and people. Will return and can’t recommend more highly 👏🏻

Google
What a great halal restaurant in the middle of a cutesie NJ area. The portions are out of control & all of the food is exquisite yet homey. We weren’t able to stay to eat as we hit the road to beat traffic but it was a great meal. Would strongly encourage getting the chicken cutlet as it was flavourful & came with their home fries which were massive. Food took ~15 mins from order till it was ready & cMe with complimentary sauces. Wish I lived nearby so I could go again!

Google
Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food but I will not be returning due to the attitude with service. Met some friends here for brunch and our party were the only ones there. There was a dairy allergy in our group and they did not have any non-dairy options for coffee. This person got a coffee from outside with plans for us to still eat breakfast here. The gentleman at the register heard us discussing this and did not say anything indicating this would be an issue. When this person returned with the coffee, we were essentially and rudely told to leave as no outside food is permitted. To be fair, there is a sign outside that states this that we had not noticed. One of the members of our party had used the bathroom during this time. We were forced to buy something before being forced to leave as the bathroom was for customers only. I completely understand the sign and the rules, and have no issue with that. However the way this situation was handled and the way we were treated and spoken to were uncalled for. Upon leaving, we bumped into someone on the street who mentioned they had also been treated with disrespect and no longer frequent this establishment.

Yelp
This place has gone so far down hill I do not think they could possibly come back. This is the outside eating area, basically sidewalk, that my service mini Bernedoodle was not allowed to sit and I was not allowed to eat. The inside is dirty The food is low quality

Yelp
Just had the strangest experience while having lunch here! We sat outside as it is a gorgeous fall day, but we were the only ones at the restaurant the entire time we were there. At one point my friend got up to take a photo of a tree and the waiter came out looking puzzled and a bit annoyed so she said "just taking a picture of the tree!" But he went back inside so we carried on eating not thinking much of it since he didn't say anything. When we finished eating she asked to take a picture of me in front of the tree. I walked over and posed for a picture. The waiter came back out and said "that's the second time you've done that. They are watching you from the back and now you need to leave." We both stood there dumbfounded. "What did we do?" We both asked. "You stepped over the do not enter sign". I looked down and realized the small chain I stepped one step over for the picture that was blocking off a walkway which we did not walk down said "do not enter." I said that I hadn't walked around or entered the area we were just taking a picture and apologized for stepping over the chain but he hadn't said anything the first time so we didn't realize we were breaking any rules. His reply was something along the lines of "we didn't think you'd do it again" and pointed to other signs like "don't bring your own food and drink" etc and compared our actions to those and again told us we were required to leave. I asked to speak with a manager and he said the manager is watching us on the camera and calls him to tell him what to do and we need to leave now in a dismissive tone and walked away. Wow. Empty restaurant. It is so easy to be polite! Clearly others have had similar issues or the place would be busier! Glad they have a camera so they can review the footage but doubt it will make a difference. Goes without saying but we will not be returning.

Yelp
Our lunch was barely edible. We ordered a few sandwiches and they all tasted bad. The mozzarella cheese was rancid.

Tariq S.

Yelp
Make sure you are looking at recent reviews because this place is really rough now. My fish sandwich - the cod was not even cooked through correctly. Fries not crisp. The avocado toast was pretty tasteless. Decor is shabby. Food served in foil containers when dining in. They're going through the motions. Sad.

Susie B.

Yelp
I recently dined at the Copper Kettle because all other restaurants were closed on a Monday. I had visited this establishment two years prior and hadn't been back because of the rude staff and subpar food but decided I would give it another try. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Let's start with the food: mediocre at best. Everything we ordered lacked flavor, and was served in to go containers even though we were staying. The ambience needs desperately to be updated. It looks dirty and feels unkept. If you're looking for a place where you can feel uncomfortable and unwelcome while eating below-average food at an expensive price, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest taking your business elsewhere.

Yelp
I happened to be walking through town on a Fourth of July weekend day and near every demoralized shop has a sign posted saying they're closed on vacation - the white flag of hard times. This little town is hurting. Stop by and when you do, you must come to Copper Kettle. You see, in the hard scrabble historic enclave that this picturesque hamlet is, there can be found this family owned gem. The COVID masked son (all business is done outside - you ring them and they bring everything out) was effervescent and solicitous, all the while, who I assume may have been his mom quietly cleared tables. The salmon, egg and provolone sandwich in the softest freshest white roll with a bottle of water and then an exotic tea and cookie was all I needed. At first as I sat alone I was somewhat distracted by the cheery quartet of women who were chattering happily like morning birds on a wire but the more I listened, the more I heard how often they laughed, how thoroughly engaged they were in one another and how positive they were - so upbeat in this beat up little town. But then, their voices grew hushed as one described putting her dog down. His last living loving obeying of her commands before the shot took hold. Then there was the briefest of weeping moments of quiet where we humans are hushed in awe by death. No laughing at the hereafter. But then one of her sisterly friends shone like a beacon up ahead in that cave of canine loss - she began cheering her up. "People lie to their kids: 'we brought her to a field and she's happy!' Of course it's painful! Poor thing!" So come to Copper Kettle and sit outside on the wrap around porch and enjoy life amidst locals and in front of a delightfully lush garden and support your fellow Americans, citizens, caring folk. They're remodeling just now and are doing incredibly well. That's the sign of success - not some of the silly negative reviews on here. Some people are exasperating. We're here to lift one another up! Copper Kettle - a little gem in a town going through hard times. But hard times never last - good people do - and even the memories of their furry best friends.

Yelp
Wonderful service and good food. This place has a large variety and the food is halal. Highly recommend it

Yelp
Was in town and got a chicken parm and chicken salad panini to go. Both were borderline inedible. Bread was mushy and terrible and chicken salad was the worst I've ever had. I threw it away after one bite. Won't be returning here.
google avatar

Annie A.

Yelp
Went to this place got a quick bite for lunch between meetings. The owner didn't tell us their credit card machine was out of order until we placed the order. No problem, we paid with cash. Waited to get our meals. The Greek platter came out pretty nice. The shrimp salad looked delicious as well, until spotted hair in the salad. At that point, told the server it had happy in the salad, she just came by and took the plate without any apology. Waited for about 10 mins before she came back and handed me a refund for the food. No apology,no offer to remake or give something else. Will not return .

Yelp
I got the fish and chips here on 8/29/23. They were absolutely fantastic. Sat outside and had a nice lunch.

David M.

Yelp
I Have never had a good experience at this place. Surprised it is still Open. The service is what im referring to.

Yelp
Copper Kettle Deli is a clean, well run deli in the center of Basking Ridge. Breakfast, sandwiches and salads are their main strengths. The family who runs it is both pleasant and hardworking. Nothing fancy, just good, well made food with fresh ingredients. Never had a burger here, but they look good too.
google avatar

Courtney J.

Yelp
Wow, worst service ever. The child who is working here Is a complete idiot. While he was completely incapable of taking our order (chicken fingers and a Reuben), refused to give my dog any water and wouldn't let a pregnant woman use their bathroom because they were renovating, except they do have a restroom. This place has gone WAY DOWN HILL. Will never come back and will ensure others never do as well.

Susan M.

Yelp
We cater from Copper kettle all the time. They are very generous with their portions and offer free delivery within Basking Ridge. We love their chicken Parmesan and pink pasta. Highly recommend.

Tg C.

Yelp
This place used to be good, but even in June 2022, they still behave as if we are operating in covid lockdown. They used to have a lively sit down (inside and out) business. They killed it. I went there today as the other deli in town where I usually go is away on vacation. The sandwiches I ordered were terrible, mostly bread and lettuce than meat and cheese and the hard roll wasn't the same as they used to use, it was a mushy thing - probably day old. The prices are sky high for what you get. I will never go back, and save yourself from the disappointment.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a few times already and I definitely enjoy their sandwiches. During this COVID era we can't order from or sit inside the place. Luck for me I live down the street. Service is quick and the is not long. I will definitely order from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
For a working-day lunch place, this is as good as it gets: quick, good variety, great outdoor seating, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Serving portions are generous as well. In the heart of the town, this is quite popular with the office crowd. They do breakfast and lunch only - and was told cater a lot. Order at the counter and food is served at the table. This particular day, I ordered their veggie panini which had yummy goat cheese and fresh avocados. Warm and nicely done. Drinks by the bottle are available form the cabinet coolers. Parking in the rear can be tight during peak lunch time but between street and the back, finding a spot is never a problem.

Joshua S.

Yelp
Never broke his annoying customer service voice while telling us we couldn't add a single chair in order to seat three people instead of two. Never eating here again. Don't support restaurants that don't like people eating.

Frances A.

Yelp
The worst. Copper kettle used to be a good place for breakfast, no more, they couldn't even get an order of toast right. I went today not realizing there was new management and will never go back. The porch was closed in with plastic sheets no ventilation and was so dirty. Actually the entire place was dirty Including the table and chairs. Inside didn't look like a restaurant had lots of dividers and no place to sit. Have no idea what kind of business they are carrying on but it is not a cafe.

Ed D.

Yelp
Completely incompetent staff. Upon arrival, it took us 10 minutes to get a menu and water for my 3 month old puppy. Mind you, they don't do "cups of water" so we purchased a bottle. Then jump to ordering and waiting 40 minutes for chicken fingers and a Reuben. Mediocre at best and how does it take to make some tenders? My pregnant wife asked to use the restroom as we drove 3 hours to meet friends in basking ridge and she was denied even though they said they had bathrooms but they were renovating. This kid who is serving people is a complete idiot. The staff needs to clean house and get some management in order. I will not be returning and will make sure I inform others to do the same b
google avatar

Maureen S.

Yelp
Really disappointing. Avoid it. We wanted to eat outside at the tables and they said no outdoor seating only takeout. But nowhere was that posted before we had order our food. Which was also mediocre at best. Not sure what happen to this place but it seems to have gone downhill.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
Definitely a "small town" deli. I called ahead and went to pick up lunch. No parking (had to double park outside). Ordered the eggplant panini. Was told over the phone that it comes with chips. When I got back home, they forgot the chips. I also didn't know the panini would be multigrain bread. I wish they would have told me, I would have preferred something else. However, the breaded eggplant was delicious!

Yelp
Came in for lunch. Staff was very friendly. Place looked Clean and organized. Plenty of lunch choices! The food was delicious (tho but salty.) The value was great too.

Yelp
The Copper Kettle is a low-key deli serving breakfast, lunch *and* dinner, located right on the main road in Basking Ridge, just a block south of the main shopping district. Outdoor seating in the shade is just great. I highly recommend the daily special panini, always something great going on there. And maybe it's silly but they have proper brewed iced tea, that makes me a fan. Marco (owner) and staff make all of the usual deli stuff, cold sandwiches like roast beef and sloppy joes*, and hot sandwiches like reubens and paninis. Didn't get my usual tuna salad, instead tried their capicola. This spicy Italian ham sandwich was *enormous*, served on a fresh sub bun with plenty for two lunches, and the platter version came with chips and a pickle for only a buck more. *Note that this is an East coast sloppy joe, sliced cold cuts with dressing and stuff on top, not an Ohio sloppy joe, which is ground beef in a mildly spicy red sauce. Just sayin :) We visited for lunch when the tables were about half full, and lots of people getting take out. Order at the counter, they'll bring out your food, and you pay when you leave, all very casual and friendly. Vegetarian rating: 2 stars, you can have your roasted peppers & mozzarella cold or on a hot grilled sandwich, or maybe a veggie burger. The outside of this converted house looks like, well, I'd have to describe it as "country". You know, as in, decorated by a girl. It has the fancy signs, the planters, random wreaths, etc. Don't let that bother you, the inside is not as, ahem, cute and the food is not cutesy at all.

Yelp
Stopped in for a well deserved and needed lunch! The place is clean and spacious. There's a huge variety to pick from breakfast and lunch... omelettes, salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers and entrees!! I ordered a pastrami Reuben and it didn't disappoint... delicious oozing Swiss and very lean pastrami was exactly what the doctor ordered as it was freezing outside. My boyfriend got a shrimp wrap and was in Heaven with his order... We were so hungry that we couldn't even snap pictures of the food (sorry folks... but trust me it's worth the price).
google avatar

Joseph P.

Yelp
Cute little homey deli with great sandwiches, and breakfast offerings. It seats only about two dozen people and is very cozy. In nice weather you can sit on the porch or deck in back. The food is actually very good offering salads, soup, sandwiches, omelets, pancakes, etc. a wonderful place to take the kids after church on Sunday or after Saturday morning soccer.

Dennis D.

Yelp
Excellent food and very helpful staff. We have tried for breakfast and lunch, and are looking forward to trying their dinner options soon. The breakfast sandwich is possibly the best around, and they also have very good avocado toast, pancakes and juices.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
New owners so be warned many of the prior reviews are from a different crew. New owners are nice and friendly but the food is no where the same quality. Had two sandwiches, one was fine but nothing special and the other one had burnt bread also the chicken was so dry. Reading other reviews of the new owners it appears the original Copper Kettle owners sold the name out. Oh well

Anna M.

Yelp
The food was pretty good but unfortunately isn't worth it. We were in town for the Raptor Trust event and saw this place to have lunch. No where on the website did it say they only do takeout. We get there and can't go in so we decide to order the food. After waiting outside with 4 hangry kids (and myself being pregnant) we just wanted to eat. They have tables and chairs set to the side and we wanted to sit and eat but we're told we cannot. So we sit on the steps to eat but were kicked out because "it will turn business away & how would you like it if someone ate in your backyard?? Eat in your car." This is absolutely no way to treat your customers! We had no where else to eat and we had a bunch of kids who were starving. I don't understand why you can't just set up the tables outside. Horrible treatment and horrible service. Will never order again.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Unassuming, hidden gem. Nice, diverse menu. Best Eggplant Parm Sandwich I've ever had. It honestly puts many pizzerias to shame. Nothing better than sitting on the porch on a nice summer day. Very personable staff as well!
google avatar

S S.

Yelp
I'm surprised this place doesn't at least have 4 stars. I've eaten here at least 6 times and every time the food came out great and with little wait. I would avoid the peak hours because for some reason the place can go from empty to packed within 10 minutes. Maybe this is why some people had to wait for a while. The staff gets swamped suddenly without any warning.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Sandwiches were good and unique (and comes with chips). I would recommend calling ahead, as the wait takes some time.

John B.

Yelp
I've been a couple of times and won't be returning. The food is mediocre. I will say the people inside really are nice but they are truly incompetent. Young staff with lack of management/direction. If you do try it out give yourself extra time because they are slow. This deli is not your average NJ deli.

Debbie S.

Yelp
During COVID, I went to the Copper Kettle at least weekly for a takeout to support local business. In the past I've patronized the Copper Kettle for breakfast and lunch as well. On the last day I went to order a sandwich, I was on the porch looking at the signage. An employee came out and gave me a menu (reluctantly). When I told him what I wanted to order, he said I had to call it in, and literally shut the door in my face rudely. I left and I will not be going back. Not sure why we should support local business when we are treated this way.
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
Food is good, however it is pricey and the wait time for your food it ridiculous. Over 35 minutes for 1 sandwich at 1:30! I recommend only if you have ample time. Not ideal for a lunch hour spot.

Christina F.

Yelp
So disappointed. Prior to Covid Copper Kettle was awesome. It had great food and service. I have been loyal supporting local businesses knowing Covid has been especially hard on restaurants. However, it's my last time ordering from Copper Kettle. Several orders have been disappointing and service is terrible.
google avatar

Ariel W.

Yelp
Really disappointed that we were not permitted to sit outside with our dog, an old and quiet Aussie. Not many people around and no one in our vicinity, and we were still told it was not acceptable. The seating is adjacent to a public sidewalk, not like it is a closed in area. For such a great location we were very disappointed - feel bad for the poor server who was sent out by the manager to tell us. We left and went down the street where dogs are welcomed. Coffee was just okay, we left without ordering food.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute, homey little spot! My friend and I found this place while driving through Basking Ridge, NJ. It's the perfect spot to stop and grab something quick. The front is adorably decorated with tons of beautiful flowers and outdoor seating. Inside, it is clean and well-kept, with a lot of seating as well. They offer everything (breakfast, brunch, lunch) and the menu is written on a large blackboard on one of their walls. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially one waiter who was working on 9/7/2019. He couldn't have been sweeter! I ordered a balsamic chicken wrap. The wrap wasn't tightly made so it did fall apart, but the ingredients were very fresh so I didn't mind. We came back a second day because it was so good! I'd definitely recommend for a quick lunch.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
Get the French fries. They are wonderful. I stopped here with a group of cyclists right before 1:00 on Easter Sunday. I think they were getting ready to close early, but they served up some delicious chicken soup. Others in the group got French fries and they were terrific. Big, fresh, hot. I'm so glad I wasn't sitting with anyone who had a big plate on the table; otherwise, I would have kept on chowing down. Someone got the eggplant sandwich and raved about it for miles.

Lorna J.

Yelp
Their tarragon chicken salad is Sri tasty. It has fabulously bitter Belgian endive, arugula and radicchio that ate always fresh. The scoop of chicken salad is flavored with fresh tarragon and raisins. The portion is generous and the salad is so delicious. My teenage son loves their grilled chicken with rice and spicy beans.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
I am a Basking Ridge native, and the Copper Kettle has always been my favorite brunch/lunch spot in the area. I have taken many out of towners to this quaint, delicious, casual and all around charming deli. The food is DELICIOUS. I have my favorite menu options that I rotate between, but I've never brought anyone who has left disappointed. Also, its a place where you can either grab and go, OR spend a few hours catching up with friends. The outdoor seating is ideal for the warmer months. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual lunchtime spot!
google avatar

Aleathia S.

Yelp
Great place! I wish the #5 came woth mayo. :( otherwise, an awesome sandwich. Street parking. Eating outside is the best physical feature at this place. The porch wraps around the entire building. The juice selection could be better tho.
google avatar

Kelli D.

Yelp
I called the day before to request delivery for my bridal party getting ready on my wedding day. It was a little pricy, but well worth it. They got my order exactly right and made two stops. One to bring bagels with jelly, butter, and cream cheese. The second with an assortment of sandwiches. The sandwiches were delicious! So many different types and all perfect with unique sauced and flavors. They brought a large amount on a big platter and were on time. And they cut them into smaller pieces for us to share. My only complaint was that they didn't bring paper plates or napkins for us. Otherwise, great experience and I would definitely recommend for delivery or catering.

Pasquale R.

Yelp
Being new to the area, I didn't realize I was a stone's throw away from a very quaint, cozy downtown BR. Lot's of shops and small restaurants. Mostly casual but a few a bit more dressy. I stopped in here on a Yelp review recommendation. A few tables on the inside but when the weather gets nice a patio for outside dining. Menu is your typical deli style. Decided to go with the roast beef. A few people before me ordered Cheesesteaks so I unsure if that's one of their staples. I was disappointed with the sandwich. Yes, it was big. It had "enough" rb but it was dry and had that "a few days old" taste to it. Kind of like the one you buy in the grocery store and bring home and a few days later you make a sandwich out of...it was kind of bland too. I am not saying it was terrible but it wasn't the best. They were skimpy on the mayo and vinegar. Their macaroni salad was good. Not a big selection on chips. You can order fries though (menu told me so). I will try it again but maybe opt with the cheesesteak or something hot...oh and their prices were on par and not overly expensive.

Nicole W.

Yelp
We biked here today. Was the perfect place to stop for lunch. They have outdoor seating on their porch that wraps around the building. All of the ingredients were very fresh. My boyfriend's chicken was seasoned perfectly and my turkey tasted like it was freshly roasted and sliced. Sandwiches come with chips and a pickle. My sub was huge. I ended up having to wrap up half of it. They also had a bunch of specials which sounded very good including a philly cheese steak and some sort of turkey panini. Definitely plan to bike back here in the future.
google avatar

Ting Ting L.

Yelp
Friendly staff and great tasting food. I'm a fan of the onion rings at this deli located in the center of town. The place is very quaint and also has outdoor seating. Perfect for lunch.

Amber M.

Yelp
This is my favorite lunch spot with my family. You can get beef or Turkey bacon and that is great because I don't eat pork.
google avatar

Kerry S.

Yelp
Great place. They recently redid the interior and now there's a big blackboard showing the menu. It's very beautiful, comfortable, and a perfect spot for breakfast or brunch. Their omelette are delicious. Friendly, courteous staff. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Prices were reasonable, service was fine. Great place for a quick bite. I'd recommend if you're in the area. The cheese was especially good and they made the food fairly quickly.
