A Running List of Boston Restaurants That Are Temporarily Closed in 2020 | Eater Boston

"After much consideration Coppersmith said it would hibernate for the winter months, thanking guests for support through dreadful months and signaling plans to reopen in early spring (reports suggested a mid-February reopening plan)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
Flying out this late afternoon and did a search for a very generic Restaurants on the ‘Googler’! Coppersmith Tavern with American Chow sounded like a great local place to try out. What a great experience. Amazing Food, Great service, and some great friendly patrons to visit with. And the playlist!!!! Pink Floyd -> Moody Blues -> Bob Dylan -> Bob Seger and more. What a great time. My Maine Haddock Fish & Chips were exceptional. Great experience. Great Faire. Great Service. A late afternoon stop before hitting the Jet Port should be mandatory for any passengers ready to depart with an amazing Taste of New England!

We ordered the stuffed tater tots, steak and cheese sub with fries, and a garden salad. Very delicious food. Calming atmosphere even when it’s busy, and great staff. I believe the bartender was Liz? Super sweet and made our experience wonderful. New tater tot appetizer was delicious. I came here for my usual chili and fries and was sad to learn that they no longer serve chili, but other than that everything was great! They also have WiFi! This used to be my favorite spot to come read a book at the bar and eat some lunch. <3

Google
Start off by saying, DO NOT EVER GET FOOD from this place, let alone a pizza or wings!!! Here’s my pizza, or bread with a splat of cheese thrown onto it. It literally isn’t even cut into pieces, and obviously I tried calling back to return and no one is picking up the phone. Who serves this to a customer? As for the 20$, 12 wings, they were the smallest, and almost entirely legs for most part. The woman on the phone didn’t know how to take an order so she passed it off to Lauren, who was friendly and I believe she brought me over my food. Anyways, only good thing was how nice Lauren was, the food was horrible, and i’m stuck with this. Honestly the worst food I’ve ordered in over a year. I even said i’d leave a nice review before I ordered, and you guys cant even cut this “pizza?” Unbelievable, and embarrassing enough that I tried calling 2 (Twice) to return, and nobody will pick up the phone. Refund would be the bare minimum here! Extremely upset and disappointed. UPDATE: Still over two months later, NO ONE took the time to even comment back in a response “Sincerely sorry for our service and food.” Service is as horrendous as their food!!! Stay away & especially don’t order out trust me..

Google
Food was great. I believe that it should be split up so that there’s a dining section closed off somewhat from the bar section for people who don’t want to be subject to loud screaming and sports playing 24 seven but if that’s your scene great place to be outside of that. The food was outstanding. The wait time wasn’t very bad. The food came out fairly promptly just be warned when you go. It’s not a restaurant. It’s more of a pub/bar as listed so if you’re expecting to walk into a restaurant with Fine seating, that’s not the case however, the food is reflected of a great restaurant style dining experience if you’re looking for good food in the South Portland area that’s the place to go although if you want a quiet dining experience, I would recommend ordering ahead and just picking it up the chicken Parmesan Was on point had wonderful options and made great also wife had the fish and chips she rather enjoyed could not eat. All of either plate was a very large amount of food homemade garlic bread was amazing. Also we had a appetizer of fried pickles and it felt like we ate a jar of pickles between the two of us, but they were amazing and the sauce they used was also good

Google
Service here has always been very good. Servers and bartenders, despite how busy they are, always have time to smile. I had wings last time during Happy Hour. They are $6 for 6 wings. I've only had the Buffalo, but the taste is good and not overwhelming. Place always seems busy which is a good sign. Beer is cold every time! Domestic tap beer during happy hour is $3 small and $4.75 large.

Google
Mediocre at best and could simply be in comparison to the many exceptional experiences we had while in Maine. The service was the best aspect. Very friendly and attentive. We had the poutine fries, which were very good, and the fish-n-chips. The haddock had a nice light batter and tasted well but the portion was pretty small and the coleslaw is nothing to write home about. The disturbing aspect was a crack pipe in the bathroom. Out of their control, I understand, but still leaves an uneasy feeling.

Picked up a burger to go on a Wednesday. Bar area I sat at was very clean. The bartender greeted me warmly and took my order quickly. I received my cooked food quickly and went home. I opened the to go package and was impressed! Generous amount of fries. Burger had super fresh toppings of tomato and lettuce. Cheese melted where it is supposed to be (not sliding off the burger - some places cannot manage that!!). Very pleased with my meal and will go back again and refer friends. Now I wish I had taken a picture!!

Google
Had lunch with a friend today at Coppersmiths. The lobster stew was absolutely delicious full of lobster meat, you can't beat the price at 14.00 a cup. Danica was a wonderful bartender, very friendly and a great server.

Yelp
We went last week when we were in the area & passed by. We turned and went back for lunch. It's not super fancy but it has a nice atmosphere. The service was good. The bartenders do double duty as servers. Ours was very friendly. I got the "Rachael" fish sandwich. For every other restaurant...go here to learn how to make a "sandwich". The fish was excellent & steaming hot. It cam on thick marble rye (toasted) with coleslaw & their own slightly spicy sauce. Every part was incredible, including their fries. My wife also got a grilled cheese sandwich & loved it. I helped her finish it and it too was excellent. Perfect comfort food on a cold day. I give them a 9.8 out of 10, even though I can't give a reason not to give it a 10. This place is a sure bet !

Yelp
We were traveling to the area, coming in late at night after a long drive from Acadia NP. I noticed this tavern due to their outdoor lighting and saw they had quite a few people eating inside and in the outdoor seating area. Lucky for me they had a special listed that night of something I had been craving for. A nice slice of Prime rib roast! I knew I was taking a risk since we had just arrived before dinner service was ending but we were greeted by the waitress who said the rib roast was still available. My husband had their Parmesan Crusted Haddock with a pretty decent looking Garden salad and Sweet potato fries. I asked if it was possible to get a piece of prime rib medium rare and they made it happen. Their sides of mashed potatoes and spears of broccoli was very generous and tasted delicious. The rib roast was moist and tender with a nice container filled with Au jus. The dining room area was practically empty so we had the space almost to ourselves. We happily inhaled our food and were given a nice period of privacy. 3 large screen TVs were on in this area so my husband enjoyed watching some games he had missed. The rib roast was just right and was very delicious. The setting is comfortable and a bit dark but the food presented was a real treat. It seems they are the hang out place of many locals and I can see why. You don't expect it but the outdoor seating area also includes a fire pit to enjoy on these cool nights. I can see why many locals and guests return. The wait staff attendant was busy cleaning tables and finishing up for the evening and looked in on us a couple of times only towards the end of our meal. Not as attentive as say other establishments but then again she looked like she was covering jobs of more than one person. Service can be affected in this regard but I'm not going to ding her for doing double duty and working so hard. The bar area looked well stocked and was attended by at least a couple of bar staff. The clientele looked like locals mixed with some who came from the nearby hotels in the area like us. The gatherings looked friendly and just enjoying time together. The outdoor seating area is well lit with a very nice seating area around a fire pit. Their listed specials looked very tempting and I'm just glad I got my hunk of prime rib to enjoy. Nicely done Coppersmith Tavern.

Yelp
I love coppersmith! Definitely a spot for locals (which I am) but always welcoming for others. They have happy hour specials every weekday. My favorites are the fried shrimp, chicken and cheese, and honestly all the apps. It's a seat yourself place unless they are super busy. They have bar seating, high tops, booths, and seating for larger parties. They also have a lot of outdoor seating in the summer. I consider their food bar food but slightly upscale. They have a lot of drinks and the servers are always friendly and attentive. They have great prices for the amount of food you get. Sometimes they have live music in the back room. Definitely a great place to check out either alone at the bar or with family or friends!

Yelp
I love Coppersmiths! They have the best food and great happy hour specials! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. It is my go to spot for a quick and tasty lunch or for after work drinks with friends. They happy hour snacks and drinks selection is great too! The meatball sub is good and filling and I love their pizza too. All around it is a great place to go for reasonable prices, tasty food and delicious drinks!

Yelp
So I'm rating the food. The serving girls were fun and cheery. I got the scallops and oh my gosh they were awful. Served barely fried and semi cold. The fries were good but being 30 dollar is crazy. It's not worth the price. I didn't drink can't say how nice the bar is, so just stay away from the food.

Margaret H.

Yelp
Food was only barely passable! I had haddock chowder. Haddock was old and dried out. A ton of herbs & spices to cover the reality. Fish &chips had good FF's but a very small piece of haddock shaped exactly like the frozen fish sticks at HANNAFORD but not bad. I am so disappointed that this place has a DiMillo general manager and presents this to the public! There were never more than 3-4 people at the bar the whole night and the drink I ordered was very watered down! Needless to say plenty of parking. Ambiance where Don Campbell was playing was only due to him.

Deb S.

Yelp
One bartender and a full bar made for really really bad service. Waited 10 minutes for first drink. Lemon drop was good but Sam tap was out so it was another 10 minutes for beer Ordered chowder and crab rolls. 45 minutes later we cancelled the order paid for the drinks Manager was bartender who was not helpful didn't check on our order when I stated we were cancelling. Didn't offer free or discounted or even a second round Of you are not a regular forget it and don't go if busy Manager stated they only had three bartenders and can't keep them. There is a huge management issue here that owners may want to look at. In this economy with a full bar there is money to be made but not here

Leah C.

Yelp
We visited Coopersmith Tavern on a busy Saturday night on 9/13/25. We sat at the bar. The bartender was the lone wolf working behind the large bar. The drinks were good and the food was great. We ordered mozzarella sticks and the nachos. Unfortunately, bartender's lack of patience, made her act rude and condescending towards numerous patrons. Although it's possible for her to have had an "off" day, however, it was evident that her attitude came naturally. I recommend visiting Coppersmith's, with a warning sign for the bartender.

Yelp
I ordered the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, and DAMN was it EXCELLENT. The pasta was perfect, the sauce was amazing, the chicken was shredded. Which was a new style for me, something unique for a restaurant classic staple. The broccoli was great, it just wasn't bite size, so I had to cut each one with my fork and knife each time. Which I feel like the kitchen could definitely make the broccoli florets smaller. But that's just nitpicking to be honest. It was quite a large quantity, so I took the rest home for my "Before bed second dinner". Service was lovely, very sweet and festive bunch. We visited before Christmas time.

Yelp
We went to check out their new Thursday night trivia and were not disappointed. New host. The questions and new format were awesome as well. Good service too. Try the Burgers.

Joshua C.

Yelp
My experience was entirely positive. I ate a salad and a large meatball sub. I'm a bit of a meatball aficionado and this was the best I've had in the area. Everything about it was excellent. Bread perfect, cheese baked and browned lightly , meatballs Terrific and homemade. I'll be back. I meant to take a picture but I devoured it before I could.

Yelp
Went here last night set on ordering the burnt ends - unfortunately they no longer serve them, and they are still on the menu. Past that I initial disappointment, the drinks were solid, and the only real other complaint was that one of the 2 steaks we ordered had a LOT of gristle. There was a very visible quality difference between the two steaks we were served. The haddock, meatballs and French onion soup were good. The waitress was very kind and attentive, service was spot on. She regularly checked in with our group and offered refills quickly when drinks were low. Will definitely give this spot another shot in the future.

Yelp
When they first opened, I think we tried a couple apps and the fish and chips and I don't recall what else. Overall, the impression was of overpriced and mediocre. Tonight we decided to give Coppersmith another go. For me, the pretzel bites and mozz sticks are still kind of in the meh category, but the mussels are very good. At least 2.5 of these stars are really for the mussels. The portion is sizable and they taste fresh and so, so tasty. The garlic bread that comes with it is fine and all, but the soppage potential is really high. I was more than a little distressed however that the restaurant was so incredibly full when I picked up the food. Even pre pandemic, I would have thought it was crowded, so seeing a space like that these days... no bueno.
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
Waited an hour just for a drink. Ordered lunch but couldn't hang around to wait another hour.
google avatar

Wanda H.

Yelp
We ordered, and shared, the Parmesan Crusted Haddock and it was FANTASTIC! The sides we chose were rice pilaf (NOM!) and the vegetable of the day was mixed. Both hubs and I thought they looked like, and tasted like, canned mixed vegetables. SUCH a shame! The other issue was that the kitchen was very backed up due to a large group. Understandable, BUT the waitress never came back to let us know, OR see if we wanted more water or cocktails. I had to follow her to another table, and then accost her when she finished with them. It's amazing how just one person and/or little thing can drop those ratings...

Yelp
Apparently there's been a change of ownership. Today was a very busy Saturday night and the status quo seems unchanged. A great local hangout with great drinks and good food. Time will tell if there will be differences in operations, but let's hope any changes add to the ambiance.

Kitchen D.

Yelp
food was mediocre at best. Two people in our party had the fish and chips. Very small piece of haddock with a huge amount . No coleslaw or tartar sauce. Waitress was totally disengaged during the entire experience. Provided minimal service and did not seem interested in waiting tables. A waitress Anna, when sauce only brought out one small container. On the hole, the white staff appears to be primarily high school kids with no adult supervision.. When we finally check , I noticed that there was a service fee of $3.22. When I asked our waitress about it, she commented that it was the restaurant passing on their fee for customers using credit cards. First of all, this is illegal in Maine. Secondly, the bill had just been brought to my table. I had not rented either cash or a credit card for payment. So if I had paid with cash, would I still have been responsible for a service fee? Needless to say, I will never return to this establishment.

Scott C.

Yelp
Service after the first drink was terrible, the bartender made a very nice Martini, but after that it went all down hill , ordered a haddock chowder and it took soo long to get I didn't bother ordering anything else, plus wasn't even offered a second drink, the chowder was ok @ best , the potatoes were barely cooked in it, they need to greatly improve their service
google avatar

Yelp
Once upon a time, this space was Chicago Dogs and I recall coming here first when only the bar was open and the rest was actually still being built. That visit, the potato kegs were very interesting and yummy. We didn't really have much reason to visit often since tho. When we got take out the other night, my wife mentioned it was *distressingly crowded* and she was very glad to only be getting a to go order. The mozzarella sticks and pretzel bites were very blah in my view. Edible pretzels and the sauces were both a letdown. I ordered ONLY the mustard since I can't have dairy, but got both anyway. (My wife liked it some, but the honey mustard more.) The honey mustard, far as I can tell, was salad dressing. It tasted no different to me than bottle salad dressing anyway. The sticks were for the kids and wife and the one bite I had was an instant regret cuz it had no flavour. I got the potato kegs again to share with my family, but ended up having most of them. Either my memory is more favorable or things have changed, because these were not all I had hoped. I realize it has been a long time, so that can be my memory for sure. My wife loved her muscles quite a lot. Hands down the only thing she felt was worth getting. My Fish sando with fries was also very, feh. It was cooked and the fries got eaten by my daughter. Otherwise not worth comment. The salad I ordered for sharing was a simple salad and divided easy enough between us. I'm glad I got it with NO dressing since we had some and the honey mustard was clearly a dressing itself. Between the population level my wife mentioned and the lackluster food experience, I really doubt I will feel okay going back.

Yelp
This was a meh for me. Food: the nachos were actually pretty good for the price- cheese, veggies, and a good portion size. The sour cream cup size they give you is pretty unfortunate (had to ask for several refills), and the "salsa" was watery tomato. The mozzarella sticks had zero cheese in them... literally you'd bite into a mozzarella stick and it'd be empty. Just the bread. Modern tragedy tbh. The marinara served with them was also watery and was barely resembling of a tomato. The outside seating is nice, and service was good enough- though it was kind of odd and jumbled at a slow lunch hour. We didn't get our drinks for a good fifteen minutes. I can't recommend. Maybe they're good for drinks? I'd come back for the nachos and a beer, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Amber L.

Yelp
The food was delicious. I had the cheeseburger, and I will get it the next time I go. The service was so fast! The manager was the sweetest and made sure I enjoyed my food. Edit: tried their brunch today and it was awesome! The new owners are doing great, and love that we have a new brunch spot to go to.
google avatar

Jessy M.

Yelp
Service was great and all the staff super friendly. I ordered the lobster roll, because when in Maine I felt like I had to get lobster. It was good but pretty plain. I definitely would not order it again but worth a try and wasn't awful just to plain for me. The whole place Inside and out was packed. I am here solo and it's attached to the hotel I am in so I went. I could see it being a good place if you have friends with you and especially if you like to drink and have a good time. 3 stars is specifically because the lobster roll was plain and I guess I expected more from it.

Brenna M.

Yelp
Terrible service. Only got drinks and waited an hour. The customer next to ordered and finished his whole meal before we got anything. Completely unacceptable.

Michelle S.

Yelp
I looked at the menu and ordered five menu items- all delicious- but was denied a MENU item (Greek pizza -- I did not alter the menu pizza by adding or deleting anything) because it has "too many items" - the person delivering this message was mortified- I don't blame her, maybe the Kitchen and management need to get on the same page ?

Mary P.

Yelp
What the heck happened to this place new ownership and it is gone downhill fast waited an hour for our food. Meatballs were burnt probably because they were sitting in a crockpot too long. Served one drink each and was never asked for refills so had to eat dinner without anything to drink with it, not that I ate the whole thing. Used to be a regular will be a stranger now. My recommendation don't go there.

Lisa A.

Yelp
This is the second time in as many weeks that I have observed your bartender ( named Taylor; I made sure to catch the name for sure this time) act totally unprofessionally toward another staff member. My last review suggested that perhaps some customer service training was in order but clearly either that didn't happen or Miss Taylor the bartender just doesn't care. I found the verbal assault embarrassing and can only imagine how other customers felt. The food and service from our waitress was great but our overall experience was not good in light of this interaction. Please do better at managing your employees or if they can't be controlled then let them go. Very disheartening.
google avatar

Gail T.

Yelp
I have heard really great things about this place. It turned into one of those "why did it take me so long to get here" moments. They are nicely set up for safety. I had the greek pizza which was loaded with artichokes, feta, greek olives, spinach and tomatoes. Yum! My mom had the crab sandwich that was stuffed full of crab and my dad had the fried clams (which he was forced to share with me) I am pretty much a food snob and these were the best fried clams that I have had in years (yes, they were better than all those places in the Pine point area)! The staff was super friendly and efficient. I can' wait to go back!
google avatar

Lelah P.

Yelp
Happened in on an outing in Portland. Everything downtown had a mile long line. Kid friendly menu. Typical pub fare, excepting Lots of Maine fish options. Lots of beer selections. Clean. Great service. All good was well prepared. Meatball sub was awesome.

Melody G.

Yelp
First time there today to celebrate a birthday. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. However got sick sore my after my meal and so did my daughter. Told the staff and no discount on the bill or anything. I felt fine when we arrived and felt fine again directly after getting it out of my stomach, as did my daughter. We think it was the sweet potato fries.

Ken D.

Yelp
One of SoPo's best local joints. Stopped in and had some high noons, wings and a sandwich. Saw a lot of local faces and felt right at home. Service was on top of everything and couldn't have been more satisfied.
google avatar

Jesse t.

Yelp
Great atmosphere - service - and most of all food. Highly recommend. Catch a game with the boys or grabbing a bite on date night Coppersmiths always serves up a quality experience.

Dallas B.

Yelp
Nice place with friendly staff. Their brussel sprouts are incredible and the wings are quite good too. Happy to find this place !

Yelp
Excellent food. Among the best fish tacos I've had! Great atmosphere, and solid beer selection.

Yelp
I never knew this place existed until I bought a coupon book to vote for the best pizza in Portland (Lord of the Pies). My sister, my two children and I were pleasantly surprised. The menu has a great variety; something for everyone-- ranging from pizza to seafood. Fried pickles and wings were our choice of apps. Bothe were good. For the main course we tried a cheese pizza for my picky 5 year old son and a bbq chicken pizza for those of us who were a little more adventurous. The pizza was awesome. The crust was was a medium thickness, the cheese blend was that perfect kind of greasy and the bbq chicken pizza was loaded with garlic, which helps make this one of the best renditions I've ever had! The furniture and fixtures in the restaurant were modern and clean. So why not a 5 star? The hotel that Coppersmith is attached to seemed to be a questionable place to stay. To get to the restrooms, you have to walk into the hotels hallway which has carpets so old they have dark black track marks and just an eery dingy feel. Outside, intoxicated guests were hanging out smoking. The restaurant by far upscales the attached lodging. I'd definitely go back to eat here again but fair warning on some of the downfalls.

T H.

Yelp
Just went there for "happy hour" ... I will not be going there again. The pizza oven was broken, and they were out of some of the apps. The beers were $9 and the appetizers were $9... which weren't good anyway. My mistake was not asking how much they were before because I would have walked out but figured it was "happy hour"so I went with it. Flatlanders might like this sort of thing but trust me the locals don't. It's the 3rd time I've been there since the Howard Johnson days and most likely the last.

Dorie R.

Yelp
We actually came here twice on our visit to Maine. Our first visit was a positive experience. We had a nice lunch. I will say the bloody Mary's were a little on the Spicy side, but in all fairness, they did warn us about that. The food was tasty, and the service was very good. We stopped again a couple days later to grab some appetizers and drinks. Our server this time was very rude. In fact, she never did come back to see if we wanted another drink. We ended up not getting apps - and another server stopped to see if we needed anything. So we asked for our tab, and left. It was very disappointing.

Yelp
Decided to have an afternoon fish fry with a co-worker while driving through town. My co-worker raves about this place and always wants to stop when we're working together. The place is decorated perfectly and give an amazing vibe. The service is prompt and attentive. The fish fry was fresh and delicious. I see why he loves it.

Yelp
First time trying this place, and all I gotta say is Fresh! Crab cakes were perfectly cooked and lobster roll was great! Staff are nice and friendly.
google avatar

Colleen N.

Yelp
Do not let its location in the Howard Johnson hotel along a road of strip malls keep you away. The food here is excellent. We had the lobster stew and it had great flavor. The lobster meat was a bit chewy, may have been frozen, but the broth itself was fantastic! We also ate the Haddock Rueben. The fish perfectly battered and fried and was served on rye bread with the usual Rueben Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. It was very tasty! We got it with the sweet potato fries and three were great!

Yelp
Great fresh haddock in many meal options. Love the fish bowl. Great happy prices too! Emily is so welcoming at the bar.

Yelp
After a weekend of traveling and not wanting to cook but not wanting an actual full dinner we decided we wanted pub fare. I knew this place had recently opened so we gave them a try on a rainy Monday afternoon. My husband, who was one of the owner's of Carburs in Portland, Maine that served and was famous for cheesy onion soup, ordered their cheesy onion soup. He was skeptical but thought it was very well done even if a tad too sweet. The presentation was very nice. We wanted to share the nachos with cheese only he didn't want all of the "trimmings" but I did, so they were nice enough to make it for us with half dressed half not. They were so good that we ordered a second plate and this time they brought out the olives, tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc on the side, so essentially our own little nacho smorgasbord. Our server was super sweet. The atmosphere was somewhat trendy being industrial vintage chic but not cold with warm accents. They were playing great 80s music. Even though we don't drink they didn't seem put off by that. We felt very relaxed and went a bit hog wild; there was a lot of nacho shrapnel on our table afterward but I discreetly cleaned it up before we left.

Yelp
First of all....THANK YOU ELIZABETH FOR TAKING CARE OF US. Pleasant and friendly. Food was great. Love the clam chowder. Greek pizza was to die for. They make their own bloody mary mix. Love it
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
I love French a Onion Soup. Love it, love it LOVE IT! This place, hands down, has THE BEST I've ever had. It's got sooo much cheese. I've been here quite a few times and tried quite a few things here. They give you amazingly big portions, the prices are great, the staff is pretty friendly and we're in and out fairly quick (when we can actually dine in). One of the wait staff there turned me on to sweet potato fries with honey mustard to dunk them into. I know, sounds strange but it's worth a try. And on some of the evenings that I've been, there had been live music! Will definitely go back when they reopen!!

Gina S.

Yelp
Coppersmith Tavern is a must go to in Portland. The food is amazing! The Calamari was perfect. The burnt ends appetizer and the pizza is a must. Great sports bar! Friendly staff, a Portland gem!

David M.

Yelp
The cost was too high for what we got. Quality was average at best. Did to go, so maybe they don't treat this orders the same.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with another couple. Since it was a "seafood" restaurant, I only wanted a side of fried clams. They didn't have that, but did have a lunch and dinner of fried clams. While I was reading the menu, the waitress brought chowder and an appetizer to my friends. I wasn't even aware she had taken their order. I looked up at her and asked "Am I invisible? Do you not see me?" She walked away. I ordered a glass of beer and a cup of clam chowder. In stirring the chowder, I saw very few clams. I picked them out; there were only two tiny clams each the size of a "petite pea." This was NOT homemade, it was canned clam chowder. I asked the waitress if I could order a "side" of clams. She went back to kitchen and returned. She said I could order either the lunch or dinner without the french fries and coleslaw. The lunch plate of only fried clams came. Only three clams had bellies and were medium size. The remaining pieces were tiny chopped up fried clams. There was more white plate showing through the very small amount of fried clams. Terrible! I usually finish my first beer during the appetizer and order a second when the entree arrives. My glass was empty and the waitress never asked me if I wanted another. She never came back. Poor service! I will never frequent this restaurant again, nor will I recommend this restaurant to anybody. It was terrible. I think the owner just wants the recognition and status of saying "I own a restaurant." He/she doesn't care about quality, quantity or the customers.

Yelp
We decided to try someplace locally that we hadn't been to so thought we'd give this place a try. We saw reviews and pics of the food online and it looked decent. The place was busy but we were able to find a high top. The table top was sticky like maybe someone spilled a beer on it and didn't wipe it down. Our server was very friendly and we got our beers quickly. We decided to start with nachos with chili. While waiting, we started to notice how intoxicated several people at the bar were (it was only 530 pm). We received the nachos and they looked ok. The chili was kind of a scoop in the middle of the nachos. Once we tried them, you could tell the chips were stale. We went with them and decided not to order anything else. Maybe they were having a bad night, but aside from the Red Stripe, there was nothing positive to say. We won't be back.

Yelp
We were regulars for over three years dining at this establishment at least 3/4 times a month. The food was very good pub style food never had a bad meal. Our problem is with the increase in their pricing after the Covid pandemic is under control. They just recently have increased their prices of almost all items by $3.50 and the positions have substantially decreased. We totally realize that the cost of food has increased but the higher prices is a huge percentage of each item. We are very sad that they have caused us to no longer frequent this restaurant.

Yelp
This location has rotated through so many different businesses - it is a bit dizzying. I am always rooting for when a new business comes into a spot like this. Coppersmith is a solid offering for pub/American food. It is a place that I would probably want next to my hotel if I was traveling. It is right next to one - and I am sure the visitors appreciate it. Their menu has some solid standards - as well as some different thing - like potato bombs. Little potato kegs that look like tater tots got a huge upgrade. I think I would go back when I want to scratch the itch for pub food.
