"The Sandoval brothers (Mario in the kitchen, Diego front of house, and Rafael in his role as sommelier) are considered three of the biggest stars in Spain’s hospitality industry. This magnificent restaurant, occupying around 1 100m² of space, offers various experiences that take place in stages (in the bar, wine cellar, “sacristy”, kitchen etc) as part of a culinary journey through its elegant facilities, and one which has been designed in a visual way to enhance every sensation to the full. Head chef Mario Sandoval is fully conscious of the need for greater knowledge about ingredients. As such, his “Roots” menu (along with a vegan-vegetarian option) showcases creative cooking which demonstrates the true personal essence of a chef who pays full homage to the very best seasonal ingredients (teardrop peas from Guetaria, shrimp from Motril, wild Galician clams, Toro Bravo beef etc). His cooking also brings to light the research that he carries out in his “agrolab” at the Jaral de la Mira farm-estate." - Michelin Inspector

This spectacular evening exceeded my high expectations for a 2 Michelin star restaurant. I knew going in that the first few bites would be served in various areas of the building, which I thought would be a bit strange, but it was great. It really set the mood for the whole experience, starting with a drink and accompanying bites in a two very different lounges, two very different areas of the wonderful wine cellar, and in the kitchen, before moving to a table. I opted for the premium wine pairings, which turned out to be well worth the steep price. 11 wines, most Spanish, all beautiful, and several absolutely outstanding. I knew one wouldn’t suit my taste, and the sommelier gladly found a substitute. The 11 courses at the table also did not disappoint. Each was both playful and expertly crafted. The progression of flavours and textures was great, and the service and pacing perfect. Overall, the experience was world-class. Very highly recommended, well worth the high price.

Top restaurant. The service was spectacular, the premium wine package is worth it. THE FOOD was delicious, great presentation and explanation on every plate. I have allergies to shellfish and they were able to accommodate me perfectly. Worth every penny.

I’ve been to Coque in June 2023. Beautiful restaurant very chic and their wine cellar is stunning but too bad I don’t drink. I advised at reception I prefer non alcoholic beverages. I was served a very nice cocktail and some amuse bouches it was very good I was so excited for other courses but I was disappointed they served me a champagne with alcohol right after my mocktail🤦‍♀️ then their homemade beer🤦‍♀️then they served me a shabu shabu I was so excited cuz I’m a Japanese chef but it was so wrong since their broth for shabu shabu was vinegar. I’m in shocked. And the thing shock me most was shrimp carpaccio with sriracha🫣 and sriracha taste exact like sriracha we buy from supermarket. As a Japanese chef i love cooking and food so much I’ve travelled all over the world to get inspiration and admire creations of other chefs but at Coque. Presentations are beautiful also ambiance but it’s missing flavour and creation. I feel like I’m paying to come here for a food show not to experience a exceptional culinary.

Truly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever experienced. A unique presentation of food that was immersive and truly out of this world. Started with a great appetizer and cocktail paring. Traveled into their wine cave with more pairings. Was brought into the kitchen to try more bites and ended up sitting down for some amazing courses and ending with a fabulous dessert. Everything was full of flavor and truly superb. Definitely recommend!!

11/10. Impeccable. A very unique experience. We ordered a bottle of wine from the cellar for dinner and that was perfect.

Phenomenal! Excelled food, excellent service, beautiful interior. This is one of my favorite michelins in Spain thus far. This place comes with a tour experience with snacks and pairings that are both fun and delicious. The parmesan chickpea dish blew my mind!

WOW!! What an amazing experience. We have dined in 1,2,3 Michelin stated restaurants but never had such a unique experience as we had here. The tour in the restaurant before seated to the table, in the bar, the wine cellar, the Sherry room and the kitchen, all accompanied with different food and cocktail/wine/sherry/beer tasting was nothing but great joy. This one is definitely one of the best restaurants we visited.

The whole experience is awesome. It feels like it's more than just a dining experience but a whole experience of a restaurant - kitchen, cellar and dining room. It's a perfect execution on food, wine pairing and service. We'll put it on the top of all three Michelin star restaurants that we have visited. I don't know how often they change their menu, but it's a perfect and wonderful dinner for us on our Spain trip.

Yelp
Amazing service and every dish was memorable. It was so fun to travel through every part of the restaurant and the cellar. The staff are super knowledgeable and personable- we enjoyed them as much as the dishes. very worth the experience- would come back again when visiting Madrid! Definitely worth the price point given the amount of food and is essentially paired with beverages for most of the starters.

Yelp
visited Coque on a recent trip to Madrid (March 2023) and it was one of the most memorable experiences of the past few years. The tasting menu was amazing, as expected, but it's the first time that I've experienced the change of rooms during the course of the evening. Beginning at the cocktail bar, continuing to the wine cellar, next on to a sherry vault and next to the kitchen before finally settling into the comfy seats in the main room. Service was attentive as one could expect but the explanations of certain things along the way made for an enlightened evening. Highly recommend--score a reservation well before your travels.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning, everything XO should have been. I loved the overall design, constant things to look at, reminded me upscale old Florida in a great way. Rich Sarasota. Service and pace were impeccable, made 3.5 hours fly by. The start of the meal was perfection, going to 5 different locations throughout the restaurant. Not only was it playful, but each location/bite had a purpose. The bar/first location was a cool lounge that I would come back to just hang out at. The wine cellar was out of this world. A little stroll through gets you hyped for your meal and informs an easy decision to pick the wine pairings as you can tell they clearly know their wine. Plating was playful but not over the top performance. Technique, taste and portions were nailed. Only a couple dishes I'd consider less than successful but most things were outstanding. I guess on the negative the only thing that I can say is that nothing wowed so much that I'll remember it years from. However, I'll remember the overall meal and ambiance forever.

Yelp
Amazing dining experience. This establishment made dinner fun. The wine selection was excellent, but the food was a little too seafood heavy for my liking. Nonetheless it was a perfect dinner as my boyfriend and I greeted the new year. Cheers!

Yelp
AVOID THIS PLACE!!! This is by far the WORST Michelin experience I've had so far. Poor (almost nonexistent) service, terrible food (the chef does not even understand how to cook properly), and shamelessly overpriced (340 EUR/ppl). We even found a f**king mosquito in the main dish, and the manager's explanation was that the mosquito was completely normal because the ingredients were organic (what a stupid pretext lol). All the manager did was try to tell us that we did not understand the concept of this restaurant. All I can say is that Michelin 2 Star for this restaurant is a pure joke. Honestly, I would recommend the chef focus on the quality and taste of the food rather than a meaningless experience in which the sole purpose is to inflate the price and overcharge the customers. I would gladly see this restaurant get its 2 stars removed this year. Again, as an honest review, avoid this restaurant. With 340 Euro/ppl, you can get a much better experience elsewhere in Madrid.

Yelp
Rude or racist reservation staff. On a month long European trip trying Michelin/ World Top 50 restaurants and called to make reservation. Started with usual salutation in Spanish but had to switch to English when staff said she doesn't understand (in English) and abruptly hung up the phone. There was no explanation or attempt to get another staffmember. She was either rude or petrified when she heard another language other than Castilian, or both. ¡Que barbaridad!
