Absolutely love this place! You want good Puerto Rican food like back home, come here. They have the best mofongo in all of South Florida, and if you think otherwise, you’re wrong. You can’t go wrong by coming down. Buen provecho mi gente!

I’ll keep it simple…. Group of 7, we are picky with puertorrican food, stopped here for dinner, these guys know how to cook…everything was excellent…

The best part about the place is the people, great service. What I didn't like is that one of the dishes had pernil that was hard as if it had been cooked 24hrs ago and left on a burner. I didn't like that they served that. About $15-16 per plate. Location sucks! Only saw two parking spots, not very conducive to getting business.

We have dined at "El Coqui is Here" many times, but we recently decided to steer away from our trusted plate of the Chicken Chicharrones and try the Chuleta Kan Kan. All I can say is wow! And maybe wow again! It is enormous and delicious! Very well seasoned a great balance of meat to fat. I had to take a picture of my hand next to the tray just to show the monstrosity of this piece. I will say parking is limited, but the staff is fantastic and the restaurant has a great vibe totally worth the trip. One of the few Puerto Rican restaurants in Homestead. Although it's not 100% authentic as the new owners, I do not believe are Puerto Rican, but as a Puerto Rican myself, this is pretty darn good and reminds me of my mom's cooking!

I love the food here! I always come by when I am in Homestead. It feels like you are in Puerto Rico. The food is delicious! My go-to is the chicharrón de pollo with mofongo. The tembleque is so good too but they run out by the end of the day. They do have lots of places to sit inside and the service is wonderful.

My experience was elevated after learning they make meaty-meaty (trifongo) a mix of sweet plantains AND green plantains with the pieces of pork. Also getting the pork and onions, instead of the chicken, as the protein is a great move. It is so juicy and flavorful and pairs well with the trifongo. We had one of their canoas as an app, it was a fried banana with ground beef and cheese. The spicy meat with the sweet banana was a great flavor pairing, and i loved the gooey cheese, crispy meat, and soft banana texture combo. As always, we love the service they are kind and helpful!

I have been here several times and it is by far the best PR food at the best price I have had between here and Orlando. The PR Rice (mamposteao with sweet plantains and steak mixed in) is amazing. Love their appetizer Coqui bandeja and their alcapurrias are great. My parents who are a set of the pickiest people on this planet love the food. He had a seafood soup (not on the menu) and the mofongo bowl (if you don't know, go find out!) and they were signing its praises. Gino (the chef) knows how to whip it up in the kitchen. I highly recommend you go there. It will not disappoint!

Coworker has been raving about this place. And so I decided it was time to check it out. After circling once trying to find it we realized it just faces the street in an awkward corner. Pay attention when driving and park right there in the private parking lot. Easy peasy. I havent eaten at a Puerto Rican restaurant in years. Mostly it's just the holidays when I look forward to purchasing as many pastales as possible they are freaking delicious. Anyhow this is a cute spot with not much space but enough for several tables to accommodate 2 to 4 people. Everything on the menu is tasty. We started with 2 meat acapurria's for a starter. They came perfectly fried and hot. Flavors were all on point and I even added hot sauce to give it a little bit of a kick. Hubby had the fried pork chunks, arroz con gandoules and tostones...he cleaned the plate. I think he liked it, lol. I had the mofongo,salad and fried chicken chunks. I was completely satisfied with all the happy flavors. Dinner was delicious and affordable. I can come back and order the same thing with no regrets. I couldnt finish it all and winded up taking a to go box. Woke up the next morning and hubby killed all my hopes of a fantastic lunch. Oh well...just need to make plans to come again and stuff my face happily.

I walked in to order food to go and was told it'll be about 30 minutes. I left and came back 30 mins later and I waited an additional 15 mins and my order still wasn't ready and then I was told it would be at least another hour. The place is small and was very busy with a lot of customers but my order to go should have not been a 2 hour wait. The place needs more cooks in the kitchen, not just one cook, so the business can be able to keep up with the amount of people that need to be served inside, online orders and in person to go orders. I was very disappointed that people who came after me, were being served before my order. I had only one order, for one person and I was told it was going to take 2 hours, insane! I received my refund of $19 and I had paid $22 for the food, which included tip but I was nice about it and didn't ask for the tip money. it was ridiculous the time it was going to take for arroz con gandules with chicken and sauce and tostones! My advise don't go when it's full or prepare to wait.

I've visited this place since it opened, unfortunately the new owners are not Puertorrican. Which means the food is no longer authentic. Didn't have a good experience the last two times I've visited. Chicken not cooked properly, ordered shrimps in creole sauce and I get fried shrimps in some sort of hot sauce. As Puertorrican, I do not recommend visiting.

Visit as this place was recommended and we enjoyed it. Super family oriented everyone super nice and the waiter was super quick, meal was prep to the order. So everything was good and yummy. I had the Steak with lots of onions and hubby had the grilled chicken breast. Both were very delicious. Next time I will try the mofongo.

Typical Puerto Rican cuisine at a very affordable price, good prices. Is a little cozy restaurant with a very courteous staff and really good choices. You'll love it. This is the famous hole in the wall people is always lookin for.

I like trying new things so I decided to try this spot one Sunday night. I've never really had Puerto Rican food and never heard anything about this restaurant. I called in an order and they quoted me 25 minutes which isn't so bad. Usually everything down here takes like 45 minutes minimum, even for pick up. Upon entering, it's a very small restaurant. I was glad to have ordered take-out. The staff wasn't too friendly. What did we order? - Carne Frita (fried pork chunks)/Mofongo Camarrones (Shrimp with creole sauce)/Mofongo Alcapurria Carne (meat fritter) The Mofongo was delicious. Especially when topped with the creole sauce from the shrimp. The carne frita was good, but a little too well done for me. I found them difficult to eat and actually ended up throwing up a good amount of it just because they were too hard to eat. The shrimp was delicious. The sauce on them really added a good touch to the meal and the Mofongo. Loved it. The alcapurria was interesting. I've never had it before and I think it's definitely something that's better when fresh out of the fryer. By the time I got to my house 15 minutes later, they didn't seem fresh. But it still tasted good. I don't think I'm convinced enough to make this a must-have or a recommendation. It's definitely fun to try new foods so I do recommend this spot for that reason.

Tasted Puerto Rico in every plate we ordered. *mofongo *chuleta Can Can *tripleta *carne frita *chicken fingers DELICIOUS FOOD and affordable prices. Excellent service from the staff. Definitely visiting again! The only thing I wish is for the place to be bigger.

Best PuertoRican food in Miami hands down. Always taste fresh and never disappoints, every time you eat here the taste gets better and better!

The to lace looks great, food is amazing and they treat you like family. If you're looking to have great tasting Puerto Rican food then you def have to stop by. Love it every time we buy from here. Highly recommended!

Came by for lunch this weekend to support another local Puerto Rican restaurant. JS El Coqui Is Here is a small restaurant off of US1 in Homestead. If you're coming from the highway, be sure to go around the block to get to the parking because you can't turn left from the main street. It's a small cafeteria-style restaurant with an open kitchen concept that I really like. The service was great but the food wasn't up to my expectations. I ordered the mofongo with bistec encebollado. My party also ordered the tostones stuffed with churrasco; even though it was actually chopped up bistec. The mofongo was really good and I loved the soft texture. However, I ordered the mofongo without chicharron (pork rind) and they got that wrong. The mofongo was about half chicharron so I couldn't really enjoy it. I really wanted to love this place but the food just wasn't there. The prices were great and they have weekly lunch specials as well. I'll try again sometime in the future but for now, they get 3 stars for the service and location.

Threw away the alcapuria, threw away the canoa(both), threw away the fries. I'm eating the arroz con gandules and I want to puke. Idk what I was thinking ordering from this place. I've tasted way better Puerto Rican food made by ppl that aren't even Puerto Rican. I'm only giving the 2 starts because my son likes the cheeseburger. I'll never order from here ever again.

Everything was delicious. I had the jibarito and my husband had the tripleta. Not greasy perfectly cooked and just incredibly tasty. I wish I could take this place back home with me to MN. Sorry about hot having a pic I was starving and it smelled delicious when served. Nothing was left.

Wow!!! The food tastes like my moms. The service was excellent. The prices are good. What else can you ask for? Its very informal, more like a cafeteria, but the ambiance is very friendly and willing to accommodate your desires. My family and I had a great experience. The only thing that I would suggest is please expand., there us need for mire tables. Thank you for opening this restaurant.

This is a small restaurant that's unfortunately is far away from me but we enjoyed ourselves as a family. Why I don't give them 5 stars is because the arroz con gandules was tasteless in which is rare because puertorican food is all about taste. All we were thinking about was eating the rice therefore, we left dissatisfied about it, Everything else that we ordered was delicious. The service was friendly but since we were a big group they messed up our orders and added items on my bill from other people's order. But they fixed the issue and they were cool about it. We will go back.

Delicioso! We stumbled upon this place after visiting the Coral Castle Museum. The place is cafeteria style but cozy. You are greeted right away. Our flag and many other decorations related to PR adorn the place. The food is Boricua for real! Sorullito relleno de queso. La canoa, espectacular!!! Great portions! A must! En verdad, pasen por ahí!

First time here. Wasn't too busy so the extensive wait was too extra for me but I'll tell you what. The food and service definitely made up for it. The menu was classic Puerto Rican food and the flavor was out of this world. We ordered: Sorullo de maíz. 8/10 Canoa 10/10 Jugó de parcha 7/10 Jugó de acerola 7/10 Sancocho 10/10. (Wow! The best I've EVER had) Cesar salad con tostones 8/10 Chicken pene pasta 8/10 Sandwich de jamón y queso 6/10 (mostly cause who the hell orders a sandwich, LOL) Absolutely would recommend and go back!

Nice place, not so great for groups or large crowds! Our server was great the speed is crucial specially when you are on your lunch break LOL! Next time around I'll place ab order ahead...

Recently decided to give this place a try. Been here 3x in the past 3 weeks...that should say what I think about the place. The ONLY thing is that it's a small spot and if you come during peak time you might be waiting a hot minute for a table. But if you don't want to wait you can call ahead and then pick it up. Anyways onto the food - all I can say is YUMMMM. I'm boricua and know what PR food should taste like and this place hits the spot time and time again. My fam and I have had carne frita, churrasco, chicharrones de pollo, vaso de pulpo, alcapurrias, canoa, tembleque, mofongo (of course) and everything is perfectly seasoned. Ni soso, ni salado... My hubz said the place makes him feel like we're in PR

This past Saturday I ordered through their website a bit before the restaurant was scheduled to open, paid almost $50 for: 1 alcapurria, 1 pastel (hervido), 1 large sancocho, 1 bistec encebollado with white rice and beans, and 1 canoa. I showed up to pick up the order as indicated by the restaurant - 12:30PM and the chaos began. The food advertised on their menu was unavailable. Speaking to who appears to be the manager started telling me that they were able to make the bistec encebollado, la alcapurria, and la canoa. The rest of my order did not exist, "no tenemos sancocho hoy, tampoco tenemos pasteles" and trying to be reasonable I accepted to replace some of those items so I could just get to enjoy what I thought was going to be authentic P.R. food. BUT...it was a total waste of time and money and a disappointment on flavor. After waiting close to an hour for the sopa de mariscos (which the manager refused to explain what kind of seafood it was) and the extra alcapurria (since they didn't have the pastel), they still couldn't get their stuff together. They kept stalling me, "it's almost ready, it won't take much longer." The soup was awful, no taste, seafood was not fresh, BEWARE - it's frozen shrimp and mussels (saw the manager go out and bring back bags of it from Sedanos) - tiny shrimp and mussels in an unflavored broth with rice, cubed red peppers and onions - with a $16 price tag. In the end I had to get a refund for the 2nd alcapurria because after the hour, I said no more, they can't even fry 1 alcapurria after all the time they had me waiting. The beans were a joke, no flavor, beans in unseasoned water is how it needs to be advertised - bistec, of course also bland. I won't be returning to that place - unfortunate to see that the quality of the food and service is so poor. Got offered tap water as a courtesy drink for the inconvenience. Take the advice of this customer who did not get paid to write a 5 star review.

Love love love this place. The food is more than finger liking good. I had a special request for my Hawaiian-Puertorrican vegetarian kid and they were so accommodating. Moreover, their food is so reasonably priced! Thank you so much!

Excellent Place for Puerto Rican food, it's kind of hard to find it, but they deliver. If you are craving Island food try their food. I personally like the pickled banana, is super.

Went to buy some food there and it was horrible. That is not hoe Puerto Ricans cook . If ur Latino u know damn well that u never leave beans without putting sazon on them. Second never take off the skin off octopus that takes all the taste away from it. Horrible horrible . They won last long with plain no seasoned food . It's bland and on top of that there 3xpenaive for u to have to pay so much for horrible food

First time I ordered from this place and I was not satisfied. To start off I ordered over the phone and the wait time to pick up my food was 45 minutes. But that's not the worst part. I ordered a churrasco with mofongo and it had to be the worst churrasco I've ever had. It was tough, dry, and not even grilled more like pan fried. The mofongo was also dry and flavorless. I had to put hot sauce on it to make it edible. I came here cause of the good reviews but apparently this place did not deliver. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for good puerto rican food.

Man I really wanted to like this place be it so close to me and i like supporting local. We went for the Mofongo, also had the alcapurias which were the best thing we had. The food lacked the simpleist of things SALT the arroz con candules lacked flavor, the mofongo was bland and the broth for the mofongo was hideous. it was practically water. Chicken boullion is so cheap in bulk and you can docture it up with cilantro and other spices but if your going to represent how much can an old school chicken feet,veggies and spices cost you to do. The service was great very family friendly, great prices compared to another place in down charging $20 for mofongo. I will definitley give it another shot.

I ate there yesterday for the first time with my wife wanting something specific and I got exactly what I wanted, the food was excellent and the service was above my expectations. You guys got yourself regular customers now.

This place is amazing and wonderful. It was packed which says a lot. The food is authentic Puerto Rican and the sizes were just right. We have had PR food all over the country and this is by far the best.

Went to lunch with my friends , it was my first time here. Loved the food! Super fresh! We had the churrasco plantain cups so good! Tripleta sandwich was fire! The mofongo was very very good too! Great service delicious food and good prices! Definitely will be back!
