They take pride in making sure every step of the process is treated with care... the planet, the farmers, the workers, and the health of the people eating and drinking their delicious chocolate creations. The BEST vegan gf chocolates you'll ever eat! Even if you remove the vegan gf part, the statement remains true. Favs are their Dubai and Berkeley bars! Smooth rich chocolate with crunchy textures so unique; it's hard to stop at one! Best part is they use coconut sugar! No other vegan gf brand does, and makes it this delicious!! Really quality ingredients and great packaging!

I decided to treat myself to a box of chocolates, and it came with: - Tangerine Fudge Truffles - After Dark Truffles - Strawberry Coconut Cups - Lemon Caramel Cups - Berkley Bar (nougat with blended cashew butter caramel and crunchy, salty sprouted almonds) - a Salted Caramel Egg - an Almond Butter Egg - a Superberry Egg - Raspberry Fudge Truffles - Hazelnut Cream Hearts - an Almond Butter Cup It was a good selection of a variety of both flavors and textures. The stand-outs for us were the Berkley Bar (which we didn't think we were going to like, but it was an delightful surprise each and every bite), the Hazelnut Cream Heart (if you love the iconic chocolate-hazelnut pairing, this will be a winner!), and the Raspberry Fudge Truffle (the tartness of the berry cut through the density and heaviness of the chocolate). The others though? Not for us, and I think that's mostly because the layer of chocolate surrounding the fillings was SO thick. It also, at times, almost seemed flavorless: like, I knew I was eating chocolate, but it just didn't taste like it (if that makes sense). For me, the Tangerine Fudge Truffle and the Lemon Caramel Cup weren't citrussy enough either. At this time, I personally wouldn't necessarily re-order from Coracao, and that's only because I have a few chocolatiers I'm pretty loyal to (Lagusta's in NY, Missionary in OR, Bixby in ME). However, if you're looking for a beautiful (in packaging, in presentation) and thoughtful (vegan, organic, fair trade, soy free, gluten-free) gift to give someone? You really couldn't go wrong with a box from Coracao (and, as of writing this, orders $60+ enjoy free shipping)!

The sugar free chocolate tastes very sweet. It says 0g sugar on the ingredients list. I have several friends tried that, they all thought it was very sweet. We have sugar free chocolate bars from other brands, which tastes much better. In addition, the quality of chocolate is not high. The price is not expensive. Overall, you get what you paid for. I regretted spending more than 70$ to purchase their products mostly based on reviews from their website, for the first time.

We got a box of 6 Spring Collection chocolates at the grocery store. The flavors sounded amazing. But the chocolate itself is unpleasant and bitter, and I'm a dark chocolate lover. The chocolate flavor was just off and quite unpleasant unfortunately, which is hard to do with a box of chocolates! Will not be getting these again.

All around excellent! My daughter who is both vegan and gluten free was so impressed that I sent her a gift of these chocolates and cocoa- she said they are "Devine"! Customer service, communication and timely shipping was perfect! Thanks so much, you have new very happy customers!

Yesterday I picked up a 2 oz. package of their salted caramels at the little Colusa Market when I was buying produce. It was at the checkout counter and I couldn't resist its dark chocolate allure. I didn't notice how much the package cost. It contained two bars, 81% chocolate, vegan, organic and sustainably sourced, the cacao Fair Traded. Each bar was 150 calories. I had one bar yesterday and the other today. They were delicious, a wonderful, relatively healthy indulgence. The chocolate had a good bite and rich taste complemented by the whipped cashew butter salted caramel. It was really good.

Coracao Confections sells truffles, chocolate bars, various chocolate confections... location: berkeley farmers maket(1/18) eats: chocolate bar(3) -made with organic & raw cacao beans & butter organic coconut sugar -tasted pure, very smooth chocolate, no added sugars. 4.5 stars leftovers: -could be addictive, habit forming -just bought one, -would repeat.....

Decent product once you get it, but they ship via US Postal Service and orders do not arrive on time and at times not in very good condition.

This review is for an online chocolatier whose confections can be found at several stores and farmers markets around the city. Having gone vegan recently, I craved chocolate and have tried every option available from No Whey to Milkless to various brands at various stores until I came across this brand. No more dry chalkie taster or slight chalkie taster or over sweet. This is a chocolate lovers dream , like a vegan Godiva and absolutely unbelievable. They are truly the best dark chocolate you will ever eat, silky, perfectly sweetened and beautiful simple combinations like caramel, rose, raspberry, truffle chocolate , mint etc . I live in Seattle and would really love it if the vegan shops here carry this candy. I ordered it online and got it shipped . It arrived perfectly packaged and fresh as ever. The chocolates lasts 6 Months so don't overdo it. I highly recommend this place!

We have been ordering chocolates from here for several months now and it is really great. It is nice to have a vegan option for the truffles and filled chocolates. If you are in the bay area and use the default shipping option, the chocolate will arrive the day after they ship it.

I tried two brands of vegan chocolates prior to continuing my experimentation with these. The other two were vastly superior in taste and texture. There's a nice variety offered, but, unlike those from the other companies, these don't particularly taste like chocolates, or good. In fact, they leave a funny aftertaste and mild burning sensation.

Their almond butter bars are delicious! I love them! Prompt delivery also.

My husband and I founded Diamond Organics back in 1989 out of personal need for organic food products. Diamond Organics grew to be the largest online organic food retailer in the nation for 22 years 1989-2011. When my husband died and I closed the company, my clients with health issues asked me to continue to source and ship organic produce and locally produced hand crafted food products from the CA Bay Area. I came across Coracao Chocolate at the Saturday farmers market in Berkeley a couple of years ago. I bought a few bars of their raw GF dark chocolate and shipped them in with other things to my clients. They were blown away! Now my clients are hooked! They have been begging for me for Coracao, but driving to Berkeley from Monterey is not practical. I recently got an Easter email from Coracao. I decided to surprise my people by ordering a holiday gift. After ordering I realized that my clients would probably receive my gift around the holiday- I emailed and asked Coracao not to wait, ship asap. Customer service got the orders shipped quickly I just got off the phone with one of my clients that begged yet again for me to go to Berkeley for Coracao chocolate- I had to fess up and spoil the surprise, a gift was on its way! I look forward to the praise that will come! Cocacao chocolate company is beyond amazing and I wholeheartedly recommend and endorse them to satisfy your chocolate fix and p lease remember them for holiday gifting! They're the best! THE BEST RAW CHOCOLATE EVER! I tried them at Om Shan Tea in San Francisco and fell in love. I had the blonde bar, which has the crunch and taste of a rice krispy treat but way better! It's not too sweet. It has a coconut taste and it's made with lecuma (which is a fruit). One side is dipped in a delicious dark chocolate. I've also had their Mayan Spice Truffle and WOW... what a kick you get from the spiciness. I just love how the spicy and chocolatey taste mixes so well together. One bite and you get a burst of flavors melting in your mouth. They are also sold at Whole Foods, so I am able to easily purchase them when I crave them. At Whole Foods, you get two for $4.00. I think it's worth it because one bite goes a long way because it's rich, delicate, and delicious!

I discovered Coracao at the Berkeley Farmer's Market. My attention was caught by a delightful looking Mayan Spice truffle. What I ended up with was a trifecta of yum! The salesman at the booth was very friendly and informative. I love that the business model is built around quality raw ingredients to produce artisanal chocolates that are locally made and enjoyable for all. I found them to be a bit pricey, but that is fair seeing that the chocolates are so rich that you don't need much to give you that satisfied, happy feeling chocolate can provide at just the moment you need it. I ended up not LOVING the Mayan Spice Truffle, but I did like the other items I tried-- I must note too that they get an extra star for the beautiful presentation on each piece.

My boyfriend and I came across this stand at the Berkeley Farmer's Market. We were intrigued by the fact that it was higher-end chocolate, made with care. I could personally care less if it's raw or vegan, but when things are well made, they are well made. The person working there offerend a sample of the Blondie Bar. Since I'm a sucker for coconut anything, so of course I had to say yes. The thing was tasty and we learned they make all their chocolates in Emeryville, so it's nice that it's also a local brand for us. My boyfriend looooves chocolate milk, but being of Asian descent, it doesn't always work well with the digestive system, so we also sampled the cashew Mayan chocolate milk, which is sort of mexican spiced chocolate milk. Definitely picked up one of those to take home because it was delicious. We ended up spending $23 total: $4 Blondie Bar $10 Rawalmond Filled Chcolate Bar $3 Truffle (way too expensive if you ask me) $6 Mayan chocolate milk and the guy threw in a free caramel chocolate. They do take credit cards and I feel like it was a little bit too expensive, but it's well worth a try and I do appreciate what they're trying to do!

Went out of my way to stop by the Berkeley farmers market to try some dairy free, gluten free and soy free chocolate for my birthday. The restrictive diet I'm on makes it so hard to have treats, but this chocolate was super awesome. My favorite was the caramel bar and actually the sugar free chocolate bar. I found that I like their bars more than the truffles and pieces they sold, but no complaints here on anything. The caramel bar has around 22grams of sugar still, but is made with coconut sugar and is low glycemic. I probably would buy a few of the sugar free bars to take home for the future. Also, you must like dark chocolate to like this place.

They show up at the Berkeley Farmers' market and sell this "mylk" made from cashew cream and very dark raw vegany chocolate. The shopgirl told me that folks will buy a bottle and drink it while roaming the market. The stuff is so hardcore, I have to sip it from a diminutive espresso cup at home over the course of 15 minutes or so, because something so good should not be chugged while roaming around in a crowd or any other distraction for that matter. The stuff's a bit expensive, but I go through 2.5 small bottles a week, which, overall is not too expensive for something that puts me in a transcendant state. They will get a fifth star when they open a shop that I can go to any time. (I do know they tried to get the Hooper's space and it is a tragedy that they did not.) Anyway go buy their stuff, but leave two bottles of the dark chocolate "mylk" for me. I love their product and the shopgirls are very sweet and polite.

I'm replacing my formerly pissie review because one of the owners did contact me as a result of that review, and now I'm a happy girl, merrily eating their great raw chocolate again, and again, and again. How DO they make those coconut dipped in chocolate triangular things? Seriously addicted, that's me. Thank you Daniel, just try to keep on top of your emails better! :)

It's shameful to write that I care not a bit whether my chocolate is vegan, raw, fair trade (well, maybe I care just a little), sugar-free, conscientious, local, or whatever else it may proudly boast, but the only reason i stopped here was because the farmer's market sign read "Superfood!" and "Sugar-free!" both of which are key words that my mom latches onto, being simultaneously diabetic & addicted to sweets. So i stopped by for a quick looksee, and the guy at the booth was a cherub, (considering i looked like a windblown, unkempt hobo trudging home from class with multiple bags slung hither o'er my shoulder) answering all my questions, informing me of Coracao's philosophy and vision, letting me sample the "babybar" dark chocolate & coconut sugar. Both of which, by the way, were so divine that i finally understood the context behind the idea of "divine enthusiasm" as it was experienced throughout history. The taste (and the densely rich & smooth mouthfeel) reverberated in my mouth- even warmed me a little from the icy walk home. It left echoes of delicousness long after I'd bought my treats and made me so happy & chipper that I felt like eating healthily for the rest of the day. (Superfood takes on meaning.) I was entranced into buying 3 truffles for my mother and three for myself. (The last truffle was thrown in free- apparently, I hit their spending mark for a free gift! Yay.) The raw fudge truffle & matcha green tea truffle both melted slowly & intricately in my mouth. I had to roll them around to find the subtle sweetness behind the raw cacao and matcha powder, but it was so worth the slow ritualism. It's definitely not a chocolate you'd need seconds of. In fact, I'd say it's the perfect chocolate to share with another. I still have one more Mayan spice truffle waiting for me in the dark cool of my cabinet, and I'm saving it for a good day. Bottom Line: So, so ridiculously good. One bite totally satiates your chocolate cravings for the day. I don't know if I've better loved a chocolate, vegan or not.

"Maybe we should stop asking why real food is so expensive and start asking why processed food is so cheap." Local, organic, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, unprocessed, wholesome chocolates and sweets. Some raw options as well. Happy I got some sweets from them today. One thing I love about living in the bay area is the commitment of local companies and citizens to put our money towards local, organic foods. Delicious raw, dairy free/ vegan, gluten free, and low GI chocolate that is worth the pretty penny they charge. I love the booth at the Berkeley Farmer's Market on Tuesdays (near Sweet Adeline's bakeshop - which is NOT raw, dairy free, or gluten free, but delicious too). The dark, pure cacao makes conventional dairy-based chocolate taste cheap and over-processed by comparison. My favorites are the blondie ($4.50), "Butterscotch cookie dough flavored macaroon dipped in 81% dark chocolate," and the $1.25 Rolo-sized caramel cup (filled with whipped cashew butter; soy free). It's a bit pricey but the satisfying flavor is so worth it.

I love these raw vegan chocolates! I regularly buy the blondie bars at the Marin Sunday farmer's market from Dan. I enjoy them throughout the week - they are my special treat. I also love the raspberry truffle - which is amazing, and the caramels (at a $1 each) are an affordable bit of heaven! A healthy chocolate that tastes delicious, you will not be disappointed!

My cousin, mom, and I went to this booth twice this week and they went out of their way to arrange a pie for us for Thanksgiving and they are just so sweet!! We love the blondies, the turmeric, the rose, and, well, everything!!! We love you guys!!

This is chocolate you remember! By the weekend, I start fiending for the blondies... But anything they make is absolutely devine. I find the Coconut Almond Dream and the fudge truffles particularly crave-worthy. Yummmmmmyyyy!

I'm actually in Texas but when I visited my family in California they had some of these chocolates. I absolutely love the healthy chocolates and find them to be amazing! I ordered some online to be sent to my sister-in-law and the customer service was absolutely amazing! I forgot to put a note in there and the unit number in the address, and they were fast at getting those fixed for me. I can't wait to order some for myself!

Ran into a friend on the Farmer's market who bought some of this, and I got some samples. They're not cheap, but so rich and good you won't need more than the small pieces. To be eaten slowly and cherished. Nice folks, too. Glad to support a local business, though of course their ingredients have many petro-miles on them. :( I sure hope they are using fair trade and sustainable chocolate, and will ask them next time.

I came across Coracao online while searching for chocolates to send to my two vegan daughters for Easter. I called customer service with some questions and they were great. They were running a promotion for free shipping for orders over $60. I was purchasing $100 worth of gifts but they were going to two different places. Each order would only be $50 and I would fall short of the promotion. No problem. Costumer Service generated a promo code for my orders. I loved the email I received about how my order would be sent out...It was hysterical! The best part was that my daughters LOVED their gifts! Thank you. This is the worst chocolate I have ever tried. The chocolate itself tastes like it has sawdust in it and do do the fillings which are gritty. The truffles are dry as mud cakes. The price is out and the company is completely unaccountable. They refuse to refund saying, "if they refunded everyone they would go bankrupt"... I think that says all it needs to say right there.

Couldn't believe how rad this place is! I found them online, as I was searching for a perfect gift for my bay-area sister. I called them to see how I could deliver her a box of chocolates, and they were so helpful! Not only do they deliver, but they also gift wrap and even wrote a custom card for me. I wish I lived closer so I could indulge in these healthy-and-delicious treats, but I am so glad my sister will get to. You guys rock!

This is the only chocolate I know of that's sweetened with coconut sugar. So delicious! The blondie bar is my favorite (they have my number when I walk up the booth at the Farmer's Market) but everything I've had is wonderfully flavorful. The fact that they're also healthy and good for the planet is just icing on the... truffle.

Hell yes dude. I stopped into the warehouse cause im that kind of guy. I enter the non assuming metal security door and the sweet smell of chocolate passion seduces my nosey smelling apparatus. I was gobsmacked at how lovely the aromas are here. The chocolate is mindblowing and its all created here in little ol' emeryville/oakland. I eat too much chocolate, but my philosophy is: if you can fit more, fit more.

I tried out the Organic Almond Dark Chocolate Bar bought from Good Eggs the online grocer. The flavor is excellent and you can absolutely taste the high-quality ingredients. Compared to some ridiculously overpriced chocolate from the other so-called chocolatiers Coracao Confections is definitely worth trying out.

I love this chocolate......raw and vegan! The Caramel Cup is my all-time favorite! At a dollar a cup, I usually buy 20 at a time. This is the best healthy chocolate I have ever experienced ! Daniel, the owner, is awesome and fun !

I have been looking for raw chocolate without agave or maple sugar, both sweeteners that don't agree with me. Coracao has many options with coconut sugar. The blondie bar makes me feel like I am in a pastry shop indulging in sweets behind my mom's back and the new hazelnut truffle reminds me of Nutella, only much better.

It doesn't get any better than this for scandalously delicious chocolates! Amazing that they are so healthy too! I'm a huge raw chocolate connoisseur and nobody comes close to equaling the decadance of these. Most raw chocolates are pretty uninspired, just nice smooth chocolates with berries or something, but these guys are obviously chefs! These treats are so inventive and delicious like all their healthy versions of creamy gooey fruit flavors, caramels, dipped treats and more! I feel like a kid eating her first cadberry egg at easter with these guys and how amazing that it's actually good for me! They have an online shop too, so that helps because I moved away from the bay area where they're at farmers markets and Whole Foods. Go Coracao!

I'm extremely allergic to dairy in all forms, and for years, had to forgo almost all cocoa / chocolate goodies. As I understand it, it's next to impossible to manufacture zero-dairy chocolate commercially if milk chocolate is mixed in the same machinery. And, there are very few dedicated non-dairy chocolate producers/ chocolatiers around. I heard about Coracao, and visited them at the Farmer's Market down the street from my house. Tried a sample of one of their truffles, and ended up taking home a bag of assorted goodies. The truffles and caramel cups are my favorite--sooo good. Eyes rollin' up in the head good, hide 'em from your kids good. Can't go past them at the FM without buying one.

Coracao is amazing for so many reasons... -their chocolate is totally pure (source-wise, ingredient-wise, socially and economically) -they are wonderful people -it's a local, artesanal, hand make 'em business -it's so good for your health! -they are super sexy gifts and treats to share with loved ones They are just plain skilled at what they do. The chocolates are so aesthetically beautiful it blows me away. We are transitioning as a culture from cheap, irresponsible, toxic crap to AMAZING quality, responsible, healthful products. I found Caracao just in time for Valentine's day and my girlfriend and I couldn't be happier with my discovery. First of all, their customer service /shipping team members went above and beyond all of my expectations and were some of the most genuine people I've ever encountered in retail. Seriously, give those guys a raise. Second of all, the chocolate was excellent. Coracao is one of the only chocolates that my girlfriend can eat within the confines of her dietary restrictions and she told me that their 16 piece gift set was THE only chocolate she's ever truly enjoyed. If you're looking for allergy friendly chocolate, seriously look no further. If you're just looking for good chocolate in general, look no further. These guys are the best of the best in everything from start to finish.

I am a HUGE fan of Coracao! Having worked with Matthew Rogers in the past, I am aware of his bigger vision and his high level of integrity. Being a former sugar addict, I am delighted that these treats exist. They are as good as sugar packed items (even my boyfriend says so! ;) and do not create the problems refined sugar causes in the body in the form of disease. They also do not cause problems with blood glucose because of their low glycemic index sweeteners. I personally LOVE the coconut blondies. Also love the chocolate bars, the rawmond bars, butterscotch chocolate chip and coconut dream bars. They work hard to get the best recipe with the finest ingredients. We have often spent $50 at a pop with these guys. I love surprising friends with their treats and the ultimate compliment when they also agree how good they are, without the refined sugar. They are great businessmen and treat their regular customers great! In case you were not aware, they are also in most Whole Foods Markets. Keep up the good work, guys! Cannot live without the stuff! Also great that they take credit cards!

These chocolates are THE BEST!!! The coconut macaroon bars are to DIE for and - I am a chocolate LOVER and these are as good as it gets! My only complaint is that they need a retail shop or to be at more farmer's markets!!

I love these chocolates. The Rawmond Butter cup is ridiculously delicious. The Saffron Ginger truffle is perfect if your in the mood to expand your chocolate eating horizons. Not only are they pure, organic, allergy sensitive ( no dairy, gluten, wheat, soy lecithin or refined sugar), vegan and raw - but the chocolate tastes AMAZING. I wish I had some more right now but I've eaten it all. :)
