When I looked at previous reviews before coming here it led me to believe there were amazing ocean views, reality is partial view of a distant ocean and the view is of the street and buildings. Inside ambiance was lovely. Not sure if it's typical, we had the entire "inside" covered patio room all to ourselves which made for a lovely dining experience. Bottomless mimosas were good, however it would have been better if they would provide various types instead of standard with OJ. Tres Leches French toast was delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his Coral Scramble. The potatoes were fantastic! My son had the kid's chicken tenders and fries. That was one of the best chicken tenders I have had in a long while. There were only two tenders but they were large pieces, moist chicken, with light crispy batter. Would love to see the brunch menu to expand the food options to come back again.

I found my new favorite restaurant in Del Mar 🤤 If you’re looking for a cute date, night spot, happy hour place, or are craving a delicious seafood dish with the girls, Coral Del Mar is a MUST try !! ✨ Not only was the food absolutely incredible, the cocktails were delicious, the ambience was so nice, and the staff was very attentive and nice and I want to give a special shout out to Nate and Jackie for making our evening so enjoyable! What’s in the video: • Spicy Guava Marg & TS Painkiller • Ahi Poke Stack • Sweet Potato Fries w/ Jalapeño Ranch • Chimichurri Chicken Skewers • Coconut Shrimp • Blackened Yellowfin tuna • Buttermilk Fried Chicken • Macadamia Crusted Local Seabass 10/10 recommend and I will definitely be going back!!

Met my family here for a birthday lunch. I ordered the wagyu beef burger with a lettuce wrap, the beef itself was tasty, but the burger was quite plain with just tomato, cheese and onion. At $20, it would shine more with creative toppings or sauces to make it stand out. The menu overall felt a little scattered, and given the name I expected more of a seafood focus. Service was excellent, and with a bit more identity and refinement in the food, this place could really stand out.

From our home in Tucson AZ, we visit Del Mar as often as practical. In March, we lamented the closing of Zeke's...until my wife spotted a sign for Shave Ice. "Shave," not Shaved. So, it had to be real, right? It was - THE BEST Shave Ice east of Maui! I had another in July. Then a third and fourth last week. Plus, we were just in time for Grilled Cheese & House-Made Tomato Bisque, an addition to the fall menu. AdmittEDly, I was concerned that Manager Gio's Shave Ice would be crafted with the same skill as Owner Amanda. Turns out, Gio trained Amanda (or so he says).😉

Google
Yummy lunch at Coral in Del Mar! Very relaxing ambiance to take a nice break by the beach. We loved the mi campo margaritas, tuna crispy rice, macadamia crusted halibut, and grilled steak frites. The servers were very sweet and friendly, and the food comes out quickly. We sat on the dog friendly patio. Recommend!

The food, setting and service were all spectacular! We were in town for the weekend and stumbled upon Coral. Our server was amazing, bottomless mimosas and an excellent breakfast were spot on. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!!

Yelp
I had a taste of Coral's food at the Del Mar Food and Wine Festival so I wanted to go for a full meal and it did not disappoint. This cute little restaurant is easy to find and the prices for what you get are darn reasonable. The service was 5 star. Our server, V (aka Valerie) was so friendly, observant, attentive and helpful. We ordered the lemon grass peanut stir fry and the fish tacos with sweet potato fries. My 4 stars is because I thought the Lemon Grass dish was good but not great although it did contain a ton of chicken! I felt there could have been more veggies and a lighter sauce (in texture). The portion of chicken was enough to take home for leftovers. The blackened fish tacos were perfect in every way. Just delicious. They had lots of fish in them and they were filling. The included side of sweet potato fries were REALLY good - cooked to perfection - crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. My only other complaint (which is one I have for lots of restaurants these days) is that it was incredibly noisy and we had to yell to hear each other. We asked to not be seated near a speaker and they kindly put us in corner but it was still super loud. We are already planning a return trip here because we were so happy with our meal.

Yelp
The food was great here we had the short rib tacos with avocado cream, and pickled onions $19. Jose was our server and he is amazing. Perfect service. The outdoor seating is cool and breezy on a summer day

Yelp
Tried this place for a birthday meal and enjoyed that it was less busy than other nearby restaurants. The tree out front is so awesome! Plenty of seating outside but we sat inside next to the today is a good day sign. We were early for happy hour but we had a drink and hung out until happy hour hit. We ordered plenty of items and they were all delicious. The skewers were the most delicious but the salmon sliders, crisp rice, musubi, and coconut shrimp were all great. Our server was really nice and did a great job as well. I absolutely recommend coming here especially for happy hour options! The drinks were yummy too. Thanks Coral!

Yelp
Not sure why my review didn't show the pictures but here we go again!Coral del Mar used to be the beloved Zels where I used to go with my girlfriends for happy hours, diners and even New Years Eve because we're one of the casual affordable places in the area in a cozy atmosphere. Now as Coral del Mar seems very similar, just it seems more open and airy. Still some live music, very intimate. Super nice to spend a Sunday afternoon before heading home after a stroll in Del Mar beach, catching up with friends. Service is top notch. Their salads are fresh and amazing. More amazing is that you can get a capuccino when every coffee shop around has closed!

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, Coral feels modern but cozy with a great ocean view! Service was fantastic from start to finish and the food, especially the Bao Bun Benedict was delicious and felt like a fun new twist on typical brunch food. The drinks are wonderful though I do have to note that on menu, my mocktail was listed as $8 but on the receipt, we were charged $11. I'm not sure if there is a surcharge or a price discrepancy but double checking the receipt is something to note. Other than that, a fantastic brunch addition to the area and can't wait to be back soon!

Yelp
The former home of Zel's has been converted to a coastal inspired eatery named Coral Del Mar. I had dined at the predecessor over a decade ago and recalled that it was dimly lit and fairly upscale. The ambiance of this new spot was definitely brighter and more casual. There was a covered front patio for seating that was about half occupied during my visit. I sat in the main dining area which could hold about 40 customers. A one-page food menu featured appetizers, salads, sandwiches, tacos, and entrees. The offerings spanned a variety of Pan-Asian cuisines. I started my meal with the Spam Musubi. Two pieces were sliced in half containing sushi rice, Spam, and guava glaze. A cup of miso aioli was provided for dipping, however I didn't use much as there was already sufficient flavor. The $13 price tag was steep as you can get the same quantity and quality from local Hawaiian places for about half the cost. The Herb Grilled Pork Chop was my entree which was served with sweet potatoes and brussels sprouts coated with a bourbon-chili glaze. The chop was already divided into several smaller pieces. This was unusual because whenever I have order this cut of pork, it is normally served whole and even on the bone. The sweet potatoes were a nice contrast to the meat while the brussels sprouts were prepared better than what I had eaten the night before at a different restaurant. My waitress was exceptionally friendly and chatty. Her service was prompt and efficient. For a newly opened business, the dinner I had at Coral Del Mar was at a four star level.

Yelp
Located on Camino Del Mar, in the space formerly held by Zel's, is now Coral Del Mar, that serves a fusion of Baja, Hawaiian and South Asian inspired seasonal dishes along with creative drinks. Limited street parking. Have dined here a few times and really liked the casual vibe, great seating indoor and outdoor but no ocean views :( Just be aware, that if you're sitting outdoors, this restaurant is located where there is a bus stop, which can be annoying. Service by the staff was cordial, attentive and nice. The menus offer interesting selections which included a lot of spam, which I'm NOT a fan of. Other selections with appealing dishes that caught my interest and I posted pics of the dishes I liked most. Was glad that everything was presented and plated nicely and was fresh tasting. Especially liked the Seared Ahi salad which was mostly soba noodles but the kitchen accommodated my request to add greens, since it is a salad! Another fav was the Seared Salmon with potatoes, corn and peppers succotash aka relish, and green coconut curry sauce was so delish, my only complaint was it need more of the green curry sauce. The drinks menu had cool concoctions. The spicy guava margarita was perfect, loved the piña glass. Coral Del Mar restaurant is a welcomed addition to the area. When you're meandering throughout the Del Mar neighborhood reefs, make sure you visit this reef: Coral Del Mar a worthwhile visit. Recommend

Yelp
New spot, very interesting take on traditional breakfasts with a fun twist. Very open atmosphere and dog friendly (big perk). Service was pretty attentive.

Yelp
We have traveled around the World and have tried a lot Burgers but by far Coral Del Mar makes the Best burger that we have ever tasted. "Just saying" Aloha TnT

Yelp
Great new addition to the neighborhood! Came here for Happy Hour and we were seated right away on the cute outdoor patio. It's tucked away off the street so still gives an intimate, cozy feeling. They have a great happy hour menu - I got the Mi Campo marg and we got coconut shrimp, the chimichurri chicken skewers, and the spam musabi, all were delicious and everything came out to us quickly. Our waiter was very friendly and the owner came and chatted with us for a while as well. Great vibes here!!

Yelp
Awesome restaurant with a nice patio and nice bar area. They had a good happy hour drink special. The bar tender was awesome and he was super attentive and friendly. The new Wednesday tequila specials are good and worth the visit. The happy hour slider was good but nothing special. Worth the visit for a happy hour or Wednesday tequila special.

Yelp
Service was so great- we came without a reservation and were greeted so well and picked out our table. They even turned the heater on for us! Our server Jose was so attentive and stopped by frequently to see if we needed anything. The food was so fresh and had a great twist on classics like crispy rice and tuna. They have all new tables, lighting and the bar looks amazing! Well done and will be back- thank you for having us!

Yelp
LOVE CORAL!!! Just back home tonight after a terrific Monday Happy Hour with my wife, daughter, her boyfriend and our dog. We went to Coral for the first time a few weeks ago. Loved the place, food and staff and decided to go again this afternoon. Amanda. Gio. Xavier. Caris. Nate. Everyone was warm, welcoming, professional and fun. The Happy Hour drinks and food was terrific. WE HAD EVERYTHING! Chicken sliders. Beef sliders. Insane coconut shrimp. SPAM seaweed and rice bites... sounds weird but so great! And so much more! All delicious. We learned they are going to be open for Thanksgiving and on the spot we decided to make a reservation for the upcoming holiday. Cozy. A+ ambience. Fun. Affordable. DELICIOUS. Our new favorite spot in Del Mar! Great bar to have a drink and catch a game. Coral is classy and cool yet laid back. GO!

Yelp
The short rib was phenomenal! My friend got the pork chop and loved it. We also shared the spam musubi and the chicken skewers! HOLY WOW they were amazing! The spicy guava marg is the best but the hibiscus Paloma comes in at close second absolutely love this place. The service was incredible!

Candace B.

Yelp
We loved it! The coconut shrimp was delicious as was both of our entrees. We went back the next day for lunch and again great meal! Amanda is a great host and we will be back next time we are in Del Mar. 5 stars!

Yelp
Newly opened and off to a great start. Good food, great service. The spam masubi was especially nice, as was the panna cotta.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
The BEST espresso martini in town. I have dreams about it! The bar is a perfect place to enjoy it, especially with their amazing bartenders
google avatar

Courtney O.

Yelp
Nice staff! Cute spot. The goal is Hawaiian inspired dishes but it missed a bit. The loco moco was missing its loco -- it's supposed to be hamburger on rice with gravy and egg but this one was crispy rice block with short rib egg some gravy and broccoli, all w/not much flavor. French toast was good but not island-esque. Whole coconut was yum. Dog friendly is a plus.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great dinner tonight! Cute new Del Mar spot, add to your date night or dinner list! Drinks were awesome and very much enjoyed the food! A nice new addition to the neighborhood! Give a try next time you are in Del Mar!

Yelp
Great experience! The menu has too many great choices. I had the Korean Steak Tacos. Looking forward to trying the flatbreads next time.

TJ E.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Would recommend! Felt belonged here without a doubt! Would recommend the crispy rice, dumplings, watermelon salad is BOMB, and steak salad was delicious (chefs kiss)! Overall great vibes!

Yelp
Love this place. Stopped in for pre game snacks and drinks before Industry Day at the track. Lots of cool people in the bar. And Amanda handled my group without any trouble. Highly recommend

Yelp
10 out of 10 best new restaurant in North County . Full heart and soul with talent has gone into this new epicurean hot spot. Keep doing what you are doing.

Yelp
Food was really good. Our server was excellent. It's very noisy, but that's the only thing to consider if you want a dining experience where you can talk and hear each other. Lovely patio area.
google avatar

Tara T.

Yelp
Bao bun Benedict was really lack luster and no avocado on it as per the online menu. I was so excited about experiencing it and it was only fair. I almost think pulled pork would be better to make it more like a boa bun. I didn't have a good meal last time yet the coconut was fun. Very nice people here & it's a cute place.

Laurie G.

Yelp
The fish tacos were not good. The fish was tasteless and the taco shells were limp and tasted like they just came out of the bag. The service was OK however we were the only ones in the restaurant

Charisse C.

Yelp
We have been to Coral for dinner, lunch and Friday afternoon drinks and have left looking forward to our next visit each time. The outdoor patio is lovely and the food was excellent. I had the grilled pork chop for dinner and it was very tender and flavorful. I would definitely Italy order it again. The blackened salmon salad did not disappoint. It salmon was fresh and it was a lively combination of flavors. The service is very attentive and friendly even when they are very busy. I highly recommend Coral and we plan to make it one of our regular stops. A

Yelp
Arrived for Happy Hour. Ordered lemongrass chicken dumplings which were delicious. Wedge salad was fresh and very tasty. Pork chop was tender and flavorful. Spam Masubi was just okay for us. Jackie was our server who did a fabulous job!

Yelp
sooo delicious and wonderful service. super cute vibes. shout out my snow cone god. i uber reccomend the shrimp tacos and truffle fries.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Amazing vibes and ambiance!! Owner, Amanda, used to be an owner of SBICCA has brought amazing quality to Coral. Everything was delicious and the cocktails are bright and fun!!! A great place to hang out, eat great food, all with a view!

Oliver V.

Yelp
Love the happy hour - super good hibiscus drink! V was a great and really attentive and the runner Jaime did a great job of always clearing our table when we were done (lots of food, small table). This place is new and we didn't come here when it was Zelle's and so we wanted to experience the new place, and I'm very glad we did! The masubi was really really good!

Vera P.

Yelp
It's the first time here after they closed Zel's. The food and the service were outstanding!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Mother's Day brunch was delicious, with a very friendly and attentive staff. I definitely recommend this place.

Madison R.

Yelp
Amanda and Gio have knocked it out of the park with Coral! The food, atmosphere, service, menu and hospitality are a 11/10! The menu confuses you in all the right ways- so many options if you are gluten free (celiac) and also so accommodating to all other allergies!! Whatever you are looking for- from a date night to a family spot- Coral should be your new go to! Our group ordered the short rib, halibut, fried chicken (special) , burger, wedge salad and of course the kids Mac n cheese and shaved ice! All was incredible!

Annie E.

Yelp
Came in on the weekend with friends and had a great night out! Ambience was great. Our server, Vee, was such fun and took great care of us. All of her suggestions for dinner were amazing, definitely try the coconut shrimp or short rib. Located in a great walkable area of Del Mar

Kaitlyn T.

Yelp
Service was great! Everyone was very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was great as well! I did feel like the outdoor patio are was a bit of a tight fit with all the table packed in and full but there is a reason it was busy! The food we had was delicious, and I really enjoyed the cocktails I ordered! Will definitely be back! And hopefully for happy hour soon.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Great new addition to Del Mar! Food was tasty and the menu looks exciting, can't wait to go back and try more soon. Loved the Coral Spritz and the helpful staff!

Karla D.

Yelp
We went openings night at 5:00pm and they were PACKED! We were warmly greeted at the door by the owners and hostesses. We had the lemongrass chicken dumplings & coconut shrimp...DELICIOUS! Blackened salmon & Del Mar burger as entrees...YUM! Coral will DEFINITELY be on our restaurant favorite list. Can't wait to go back!

Judy H.

Yelp
Saw a recommendation for this new restaurant and we gave it a try tonight!!! So, many great choices on the menu -- we ended up with 5 appetizers and we still want to try the brussel sprouts! Service was great .... the owner checked with us several times to make sure we were doing okay. Both he and the waiter gave us great recommendations on choices. We will definitely be returning as there are still so many things on the menu we want to try! Also, the White Lotus drink is excellent!

MaryLou C.

Yelp
Went opening night. It was jam-packed. We really liked the bright decor. Hostesses were very welcoming and our server Kim was delightful. It was so nice to see Amanda (owner) in the Del Mar restaurant scene again. The chicken pot stickers are a must-have and the short rib dish was great. I intend to go again this week for lunch and then probably again and again. For sure this place will be a local favorite!

Nicole R.

Yelp
Great food, amazing service, and a very pleasant atmosphere. We went on opening day for lunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend the spam musubi.
